This is the first radical departure from traditional design and continues to be used in all topline recurve bows today. 1953 Hoyt produces the first truly short recurve hunting bow, only 52 inches. 1956 Hoyt introduces dynamically balanced bow limbs, providing for a new dimension in accuracy. (Patent #2,995,130). 1931 1946 1948 1951 1953 1956 A true Pistol Grip (Patent No. 2,995,130) is introduced on the Pro Olympian. Since its introduction, the pistol grip has become the most universally popular and distinctive conformation of the modern bow. 1957 Hoyt craftsmen offer the first exquisitely customized bows – checkering and inlays. 1959 The thumb rest grip design is introduced improving the “feel” of the bow. Virtually all modern bows utilize this style of grip today. 1961 Hoyt invents stabilizers and introduces them to the archery market. (Patent #3,196,860). 1963 Hoyt develops the micro rest adjustment system, dramatically improving the tuneability of bows and substantially increasing accuracy. (Patent #3,292,607). 1957 1959 1961 1963 1965 Hoyt develops the Torque Flight Compensator stabilizer system further improving accuracy. (Patent #3,412,725). 1965 1971 Hoyt introduces the first limbs made with carbon fiber. 1971 1972 1972 A bow limb Take-Down System is invented, accurately positioning, aligning, and locking the bow limbs into the sockets of the riser. (Patent #3,814,075). “1972 Munich Olympic Games” - The Munich Olympic Games are the first Olympics in which archery is reintroduced as an Olympic sport since the 1904 games held in St. Louis, MO. The Hoyt Pro Medalist is used to win both the men’s and women’s gold medal. 1976 V-bar auxiliary inertial stabilizers are introduced. (Patent #4,054,121). 1976 “1976 Montreal Olympic Games” - Hoyt’s TD2 is used to win the men’s gold medal. Hoyt develops a system for universally adjusting bow limbs for variations in bow weight, tiller, and alignment. (Patent #4,091,790). 1980 “Moscow Olympic Games” - Men’s gold won with Hoyt’s TD2. 1982 An adjustment system for fine tuning the cable harness of two-wheel type compound bows is developed. (Patent #4,448,183). This is the beginning of Hoyt Archery Company’s entrance to the compound bow market. 1980 1982 Hoyt designs a cable glide block to retain the cables of a compound bow on the arrow side of the cable guard rod, maximizing off-set clearance of the arrow and vanes. (Patent #4,452,222). Hoyt develops the interior socket and dovetail channels for recurve risers. (Patent #4,494,521) Hoyt invents a vertically adjustable arrow support member with an internally adjustable spring loaded cushion plunger. This allowed for finer tuning of bows. (Patent No. 4,542,731) “1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games” - Men’s gold medal is won with the Hoyt TD4. 1984 1984 Hoyt introduces the first true working recurve limb compound bow, the Spectra 5000. Hoyt designs a bow for Sylvester Stallone to be used in the movie, Rambo-First Blood, Part II. By the end of 1985, the Hoyt bow and promotion is the most talked about campaign ever seen in the industry. Hoyt develops Syntactic foam core limbs replacing wood cores. The foam is used in both recurve and some early compound bow limbs and continues to be used in recurve limbs today. (Patent #4,819,608). 1987 Hoyt develops and patents the use of synthetic cables and strings to replace the metal cable harness. This is known as the A.I.M. system (Advanced Integrated Material) and is used on almost all compound bows in the market today. (Patent #4,957,094). 1987 Hoyt expands its manufacturing capabilities by designing semi-automated string making equipment and begins in-house production of bow strings. 1988 Hoyt introduces the Compound Speed Changer System, a portable bow press system allowing archers to work on or dismantle a bow without the use of a bow press. (Patent #4,846,142). 1988 “1988 Seoul Olympic Games” - The Hoyt TD4 wins the men’s gold, silver and bronze medals. 1989 Randy Walk, Hoyt’s Director of Engineering, shatters the existing NAA World Broadhead Flight (distance) record by 120 yards in the 70 lb. bow class with a Hoyt ProForce Extreme. Roy Rogers also sets a new world record in the unlimited weight division with his ProForce Extreme set at 140 pounds. 1989 Hoyt USA redefines compound limb design and construction by introducing the Fast Flite limb, a fully laminated multi-glass compound limb. This new limb technology dramatically increases the speed and durability of compound bows. 1992 The Year of the Super Slam! Hoyt introduces the Super Slam bow, designed with Hoyt’s first ever directly mounted 2-piece quiver system. The bow was appropriately named after Chuck Adams’ recent success in being the first bowhunter in history to take all 27 species of North American Big Game with a bow and arrow, now known as the “Super Slam” of hunting. 1992 “1992 Barcelona Olympic Games:” - The Spanish men’s team wins the Olympic Gold medal, all shooting Hoyt TD-4 bows. 1993 Hoyt USA expands its manufacturing capabilities with the purchase of a CNC milling machine. Hoyt USA now has one of the largest milling machine shops in the state of Utah. 1993 1994 The first ever Hoyt USA machined aluminum compound and recurve bow risers are introduced to the market. 1994 Randy Walk invents a unique grip system for machined aluminum risers known as the Accu-Grip (Patent #5,551,413). 1996 A Year of Innovation! Hoyt develops the first TEC Series bow named the AlphaTec. The first of its kind riser design uses a fully integrated rear support beam dramatically increasing the strength of the bow and substantially reducing riser vibration and shock. (Patent #5,682,871 - Inventors Randy Walk and Bill Boynton). Hoyt invents Split Limb Technology and introduces the Carbonite split limbs. The 4 independent limbs have redefined the performance, durability and look of all Hoyt bows today. (Patent #5,720,267 – Inventor Randy Walk). Further innovation is defined with the introduction of the dual chambered-suppression stabilizer. (Patent #5,735,257 – Inventor Randy Walk). 1996 When you purchase a Hoyt bow, you’re not only purchasing the finest bow money can buy, you’re also purchasing over seven decades of archery research, development and innovation. It is an incredible history unmatched by any other bow manufacturer that has ever existed. When it comes to archery, trust the name that millions have trusted for over seventy years! Hoyt expands its manufacturing capabilities by installing a camouflage film dipping system. 1998 The TEC-series (Total Engineering Concept) of bows are expanded to include 3 extremely different bows all produced for different styles of shooting. 1998 1999 Hoyt introduces the MagnaTec, a TEC-series bow design made of diecast magnesium rather than machined from aluminum. This is another first in the industry and to date, no other bow companies have been able to duplicate this technology. 1999 2000 Hoyt USA redefines the recurve bow and introduces the first ever TEC-series recurve riser, the Axis. Along with the Axis introduction, Hoyt USA develops and puts into market the revolutionary FX recurve limb. 2000 “2000 Sydney Olympic Games” - The Axis riser and FX limb combination wins the men’s individual gold medal. Spiral Cam & 1/2 - The Spiral Cam & 1/2 has a faster Cam & 1/2 If you’re an advanced or expert archer looking for pure speed with incredible consistency and accuracy then the Spiral Cam & 1/2 System is your ticket. It features an aggressive force draw curve and is available in half inch increments with a built in let-off system allowing for adjustments between 55 and 65% ATA. The Spiral Cam & 1/2 System features all of the same technologies and engineering principles of the Cam & 1/2 System (shown above) but has been designed to be unbelievably fast, and unbelievably fast it is! Spiral Cam & 1/2 initial build up of weight and the extended time at peak weight can make this cam a little tougher to draw. In return this allows for more stored energy, which ultimately produces more speed. Cam & 1/2 - The Cam & 1/2 is a perfect balance of speed and a very smooth draw. It features a smoother initial pull, a shorter time at peak weight and a slightly slower descent into the back end of the draw curve. AccuWheel - The AccuWheel features a smooth initial We haven’t forgotten about those archers who love to shoot round wheels. Our AccuWheel is the ultimate wheel for that easy, long valley that a lot of finger shooters love. A 65% ATA let-off and inner-cam draw length adjustability (patented) are standard features. pull and a gradual descent into the back end of the wheel with a larger valley for finger style shooters who prefer a more “spongy” feel at full draw. XT 3000 LX PRo ZR 100 Hoyt has taken pocket tolerance and alignment to a whole new level with the new Triax Pocket Stabilization System. This new stabilization system is machined into the aluminum riser increasing the breadth of contact between the dowel and the riser. This new Hoyt technology ensures superior alignment of the dowel and riser and provides exceptional pocket strength and stability. 3 Compound limbs manufactured under one or more of the following patent numbers 4,350,138; 5,720,267. 4 1. Initially, the limb begins as a pre-stressed, contoured limb. 2. The limb becomes straighter as more load is applied. 3. The more stress (bend), the more energy is stored throughout the entire length of the limb. 4. At full draw, the limb harnesses more power and produces more speed. The secret behind Hoyt’s laminated split limb performance is that it is really a contoured or pre-stressed limb engineered with Uniform Stress Distribution (USD) Technology. This means that as the limb bends, energy is distributed evenly throughout the entire length of the limb eliminating all “hot spots,” which are found on most solid limbs and provides for an incredible increase in speed and durability. The XT 3000 is 15 1⁄2 inches in length making it a perfect choice for archers looking for a longer bow or increased brace height. The new ZR 100 is manufactured from solid glass and incorporates Hoyt’s 3/4 Inch Split Limb Technology. It provides great performance at a great price. Hoyt’s patented 3/4 Inch Split Limb Technology provides for an effective overall width of 2 1⁄4 inches, creating more lateral and torsional stability than that of a traditional 1 1⁄2 inch solid limb. The 3/4 Inch Split Limb design also eliminates the vulnerable v-groove where failure can occur on traditional solid limbs. The 3/4 Inch Split Limb design is lighter, more efficient, and provides for increased arrow speeds, durability and accuracy. 3/4” Split Limb Traditional Solid Limb At 18 inches, the five layer laminated LX Pro has a recurve design and is perfect for those looking for an exceptionally long axle-to-axle bow. Our Dual Locking Pocket System has proven to be the tightest tolerance pocket system in the industry. It offers a dual weight locking mechanism, aerospace tolerances, and superior limb, riser and pocket alignment. The pocket section of a bow is extremely important to the accuracy and consistency of a bow and nothing comes close to Hoyt’s pocket technologies! Engineered to produce the ultimate combination of speed, stability and smoothness, the G3 limb utilizes advanced materials that are fused to an updated version of the proven nonlinear Syntactic Foam core. The result is a third-generation, high modulus, heat resistant design, which stores more energy than a conventional limb, yet yields an easy pull through the clicker, and upon release delivers an unmatched combination of speed and stability. Non-Tapered Foam Core Uni-Directional Carbon Parabolic Foam Core Glass Bias Carbon Glass Bias Carbon Glass The FX combines greater initial energy storage on the draw allowing for extreme speeds on the release. The smooth, nonlinear taper of the FX’s monolithic Syntactic Foam core combined with multiple layers of carbon and glass minimize mass and maximize performance in all weather conditions. Please see the reference chart on the back cover for length and weight options.
