FAIRLEIGH
DICKINSON
Today’s Game
The Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s basketball team will play its final game of the season when they host the Terriers of St. Francis
NY on Senior Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00
p.m. at Stratis Arena in Hackensack, NJ and
will feature a live video stream on www.fduknights.com.
The All-Time Series
This will be the 86th meeting between the two
NYC area schools which dates back to the
1954-55 season. Both teams have played each
other at least once since the 1965-66 season.
The Knights hold a 50-35 advantage in the series but have lost eight of nine in the series including a 62-51 setback earlier this season at
SFNY. However, FDU holds a 25-11 advantage
in home games. Two seasons ago in Brooklyn,
NY, the Knights won, 56-55, to snap a six-game
losing streak to the Terriers.
Last Time Out
The Knights are coming off a tough 91-80 home
loss Thursday night to NEC regular season
champions LIU Brooklyn. Despite the loss,
FDU played arguably its best offensive game
of the season as they made a season-best 36
field goals on a season-high 77 attempts (46.8
percent), while LIU shot 46.2 percent (30-of65) from the field. The Blackbirds shot 30.0
percent (6-of-20) from three-point range and
held the Knights to only 2-of-12 behind the arc
The biggest difference in the game came at the
free throw line where LIU outscored FDU, 25-6.

The Blackbirds made 25-of-29 freebies, while the
Knights converted only 6-of-11. FDU turned the ball
over a season-low nine times and registered a season-best eight blocks. LIU turned the ball over 12
times and out-rebounded the Knights, 47-35. The
Blackbirds also outscored FDU on the fast break,
20-8.
Trailing 48-43 early in the second half, graduate
student George Goode made a layup and a dunk
to cut the lead to 48-47 with 17:34 remaining in the
contest. However, LIU responded with a 13-2 run
to take a 61-49 lead with 13:19 left which gave the
Blackbirds the breathing room they needed for the
duration of the game.
Junior Melquan Bolding led the Knights with 21
points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor. Goode
just missed a double-double with 16 points, nine
rebounds and a season-high four blocked shots.
Junior Kinu Rochford picked up a double-double as
he added 14 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
St. Francis NY
The Terriers (15-13, 12-5 NEC), who were picked
to finish 11th in the NEC preseason coaches’ poll,
come into Saturday’s contest in fourth place in conference play and have a chance to clinch the third
seed in the NEC Tournament with a victory and a
Robert Morris loss. SFNY saw its brief two-game
win streak snapped Thursday night as they fell at
Monmouth, 79-73.
Junior forward Akeem Johnson, who did not play
against the Knights in the first meeting, is averaging
11.8 points per game to lead the Terriers in scoring.

best 23 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor.
He also drained a career-high 11 free throws on
12 attempts. Goode just missed his fourth double-double of the season as he ripped down a
game-high nine rebounds.
Charity Stripe Highs
The Knights shot 76.5 percent from the free
throw line in the loss to Wagner. Percentage
wise, it wa FDU’s second-best performance of
the season. However, the Knights drained season highs in both makes (26) and attempts (34).
FDU previously made 19-of-28 free throws in its
lone victory of the season against Saint Peter’s
back on November 18.
Three-Point Lows
Over their past two games, the Knights have established season lows in their three-point shooting. Versus Wagner, the Knights failed to make a
three-pointer for the first time all season but only
took three attempts. Earlier in the week at Columbia, FDU went only 1-of-5 from long range in
the loss at Columbia.
Hayes Out
Junior Lonnie Hayes is out indefinitely with a
stress fracture in his foot. He started the first 11
games of the season for the Knights before missing Monday’s game at Columbia.
Taking Care of the Basketball
After turning the ball over a season-high 23 times
in the loss to Vermont, the Knights are only averaging 13 turnovers in the past two games (14
at NJIT, 12 at Columbia). Before the Vermont
game, FDU only turned the ball over 12 times at
No. 4 Louisville.
Bench Production
The Knights had their best bench production of
the season at NJIT as they received a seasonhigh 20 points from their non-starters.
Rare Start
Sophomore Mathias Seilund earned a rare start
at NJIT and came through with his best performance of the season. He scored a season-best
seven points in a season-high 26 minutes. It was
Seilund’s second start of the season.
Hayes Back to Double Figures
Junior Lonnie Hayes ended a four-game streak
of failing to score in double-figures when he
scored 10 points at NJIT. He previoulsy scored
in double-digits in five of the first six games including three games where he scored at least 23
points.
Ivy League
Columbia is the only team the Knights will face
out of the Ivy League all season. FDU has not
faced an opponent from the Ivy League since the
1994-95 season when they lost at Pennsylvania,
101-71, on December 10, 1994.
America East Conference
Vermont is the third of three teams the Knights
will play from the America East Conference this
season. FDU already lost at UAlbany, 81-62 on
November 27 and at Stony Brook, 70-46, on December 7. and will host Vermont on December
21. The Knights are 1-5 against the conference
over the past five seasons (including this season’s losses at Albany and at Stony Brook).
as the Knights shot a season-high 57.1 percent
(season-best 28 FGs on 49 attempts) from the
floor, including 5-of-9 from three-point range.
Home Sweet Home
The Knights are finally home after playing their
last six games on the road. FDU’s last home
game was over a month ago on November 18
when they defeated Saint Peters, 73-62, for its
only victory of the season. The Knights are 1-1 at
home this season (lost home-opener to Lehigh,
72-61) as the contest against Vermont will be
only the third home game of the season.
Finding the Open Man
The Knights dished out a season-high 18 assists
in the loss at Saint Francis PA which was a number they reached twice last season.
Back-to-Back-to Back Double-Doubles
Grad student George Goode posted his thirdstraight double-double last time out at Louisville
on December 10 as he scored 17 points and tied
a career high with 12 rebounds. Goode is the
second Knight this season to post back-to-back
double-doubles as junior Kinu Rochford registered back-to-back double-doubles in the first
two games of the season (at Providence, vs. Lehigh). Goode is averaging 17.0 ppg and 11.7 rpg
during this stretch.
Breaking Out
Junior Melquan Bolding broke out of a minislump at Louisville as he scored 23 points and
tied a season-high with five three-pointers.
Big East Conference
Louisville is the second Big East team the Knights
are facing this season (lost at Providence, 72-61,
in their season opener on November 12). Over
the past five seasons (including the Providence
game), FDU is 1-8 against the Big East. The lone
victory was a 76-71 victory at Seton Hall on November 18, 2006.
Homecoming
The Knights have two ties to the Louisville program as Grad Student George Goode graduated
from Louisville last season after playing three
seasons, while assistant coach Chris Brickley
graduated in 2010 after playing for the Cardinals.
Starting Debut
Grad student Mouhamed Lo made his first start
of the season at Stony Brook and responded
with a sesaon-high 12 points and five rebounds.
He also shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and
made both free throw attempts.
Shut-Out
Leading scorer Lonnie Hayes failed to score a
single point in the game at Stony Brook and has
failed to scored in the first half over the last three
contests.
Tale of Two Halves
Junior Lonnie Hayes scored 34 points last week,
all in the second half. After being held scoreless
in the opening stanza on Thursday at Robert
Morris, he exploded for all of his game-high 25
points following intermission. Two nights later,
Hayes tallied all nine of his points in the second
stanza as the Knights staged a rally that ultimately came up four points short in a 73-69 setback at
Saint Francis PA.
Lighting it Up
The Knights registered their best shooting night
in the last two seasons against Saint Francis PA
Some Bench Production
The Knights scored a season best in bench points
with 15 against the Red Flash with 10 coming
from junior Lonnie Robinson. All 15 points were
scored in the first half.
Career “Knight” Part I
Grad Student George Goode had a career night
versus Saint Francis PA as he established new
highs in points (21), rebounds (12) and field
goals made (10 on 17 attempts). The doubledouble was the first of his career and the third
by a Knights’ player this season (Kinu Rochford
picked up a pair of double-doubles in the first two
games of the season at Providence and at home
to Lehigh).
Minutes Man
Junior Lonnie Hayes played all 40 minutes at
Robert Morris and at Saint Francis PA, marking
the third time this season he has played the entire game with the last time being in the seasonopener at Providence (11/12). He tied his career
highs in field goals made (8), free throws made
(9 on 10 attempts) and rebounds (5) at Robert
Morris. He then tied another career high against
Saint Francis PA with six assists and is averaging
37.8 minutes per game which tops all players in
the Norhteast Conference.
Moody Rewarded
After playing 25 minutes off the bench against
Robert Morris and recording three steals and
turning the ball over once, freshman Dylan Moody
(Philadelphia, PA/Abington Friends) earned his
first career start against Saint Francis PA.
20-Point Mark
With his 25 point effort at Robert Morris (all in
the second half), junior Lonnie Hayes has scored
at least 20 points in three of the Knights’ nine
games this season.
Recording Steals and Forcing Turnovers
The Knights recorded 12 steals in the loss at
Robert Morris which was more than they had all
of last season (11 vs Central Connecticut State
12/4/11). The Knights also forced the Colonials
into 20 turnovers, the second time this season
FDU has forced an opponent into at least that
many miscues (21 versus Lehigh (11/15/11))
Hayes at Albany
Junior Lonnie Hayes had possibly his best game
in a Knights uniform in the loss at Albany. The
point guard scored 23 points by shooting 50 percent from the floor (career-high eight field goals
on 16 attempts) and knocked down 4-of-8 from
three-point range, while grabbing a season-high
five rebounds.
Good Season Low
The Knights turned the ball over a season-low 11
times at Albany.
2011-12 FDU Men’s Basketball
“11”
The first four contests played this season by the
Knights were decided by 11 points. The 19-point
loss at Albany stopped the streak.
At Providence, Hayes scored 26 points
on 7-of-21 shooting, including 3-of-8
from three-point range, made 9-of-11
free throws and dished out four assists.
Career “Knight” Part II
Junior Melquan Bolding put together one of the
best games of his career in the loss at Lafayette.
He established new career highs in points (33)
and field goals made (12), while pulling down
seven rebounds and making 5-of-8 three-pointers.
Rochford recorded a double-double with
15 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out with four minutes to go. He also
had game highs in steal (two) and blocks
(two) and pulled down eight offensive rebounds (six in the first half). He added
another double-double against Lehigh
with 18 points and 15 rebounds (nine offensive).
Shots Falling
The Knights shot 56.5 percent (26-of-46) in the
victory over Saint Peter’s which was higher than
any percentage they shot last season (55.8 in win
at Longwood on 11/29/10) and his the second
highest percentage they have shot this season.
Distributing the Basketball
The Knights saw their assist total rise in each of
the first three games this season. After recording
eight and 12 assists in the first two games, FDU
dished out 17 assists (one short of last year’s
season high which was done twice) with Melquan
Bolding and George Goode establishing new career highs with five.
Goode Becoming Good
George Goode has put up double-figures in scoring over his last two contests, including a careerbest 16 points against Saint Peter’s. He also tied
a career high with nine rebounds and dished out
a career-best five assists.
Balanced Scoring
Four Knights scored in double-figures against
Saint Peter’s. George Goode led the way with 16
points, Kinu Rochford added 15 points, Melquan
Bolding provided 14 points and Lonnie Hayes
chipped in seven points.
Patriot League
Lafayette is the second and final team the
Knights will play from the Patriot League this
season (lost to Lehigh 72-61). Over the last five
seasons, FDU is 2-6 (including the Lehigh and
Lafayette games) against the league.
Debuts
Five players made their FDU debuts in the loss to
Providence: Lonnie Hayes, George Good, Dylan
Moody, Lonnie Robinson and Kinu Rochford.
Melquan Bolding and Mouhamed Lo made their
debuts against Lehigh.
Hitting the Offensive Glass
The Knights ht the offensive boards hard
over their first three games, collectng a
total of 44 (19 at Providence, 17 vs. Lehigh, 8 vs. Saint Peter’s).
Better Ball Protection
The Knights need to do a better job of
protecting the basketball. After turning
the ball over 12 times at Providence,
FDU gave it up 22 times to Lehigh and
19 more times against Saint Peter’s.
Block Party
The Knights recorded seven blocks
against Lehigh, one short of their season best one season ago in a home
overtime loss to NJIT (2/1/11). George
Goode, Kinu Rochford and Ayotunde
Oyeniyi all swated away two shots.
Defensive Presence
The Knights forced 21 turnovers against Lehigh
with 11 of them coming off steals. The 11 steals
matched last season’s high of 11 in a home win
against Central Connecticut State (12/4/11).
FDU added 10 more in the win over Saint Peter’s.
Wins at Stratis Arena
Wins at Stratis Arena have come few and far between in recent history. The Knights have lost
seven straight at home (including the loss to Lehigh) and have not won on their home floor since
January 17, 2011, 75-64, against Houston Baptist. FDU went 3-11 at Stratis Arena last season.
MAAC Conference
Saint Peter’s is the only team the Knights will
play from the MAAC Conference all season.
Over the last five seasons, FDU is 2-8 against

For Starters
The Knights are 25-37 (including the Providence
loss) in season opening games since the program’s inception in 1949-50. The last time the
Knights won a season opener was in 2002-03
when they defeated Army, 76-54, the last time
the Knights opened at Stratis Arena. This is also
the first time since the same season that FDU
played its first two games of the season at home.
Since the 2006-07 season, the Knights have
opened their season against three Big East opponents. In 2006, FDU fell at Providence, 96-71.
In 2008, the Knights opened at Pittsburgh with a
86-63 loss. In 2009, FDU opened at Villanova,
losing 84-61.
Returning Less Than 20 Percent of Scoring
The Knights are one of seven teams in the country that return less than 20 percent of their scoring from a season ago. FDU returns only 17.8 of
its scoring (333-of-1,866). The other six schools
are St. John’s, Towson, Boston College, Texas,
UTEP and Wofford.
Introducing... Greg Vetrone
Greg Vetrone became the sixth Head Coach of
the program on March 9, 2010 after serving as
the Interim Head Coach for the 2009-10 season;
he was an assistant coach for the 2008-09 season.
As Interim Head Coach, Vetrone guided the
Knights to a 10-8 record in Northeast Conference
play, earning a fifth seed in the conference tournament after the Knights were absent from the
postseason the previous two seasons.
Last season his squad struggled to a 5-24 record. He is 16-45 in his two seasons at FDU.
“Greg is a great fit for this University,” said Langford. “His strong recruiting skills, networking capabilities and fundraising strengths complement
his coaching abilities very well. We are excited
about what he can do here at FDU and we share
his vision for this program. I expect great things
from Greg.”
Vetrone brings a wealth of experience to the position with over 20 years working within all aspects of basketball. Prior to rejoining the FDU
staff, Vetrone helped coach Portchester High
School to the 2008 League Championship, posting an 18-6 record. Before that, he worked at
Aviator Sports and Recreation as the Basketball
Manager, acting as the director of all basketball events, coordinating youth clinics, summer
camps, high school basketball tournaments and
adult leagues.
Vetrone served as a consultant for the Grass
Roots Program/Reebok. In that position, he was

the Director of ABCD East and West Camp Next,
co-director of ABCD All-American Basketball
Camp and co-director of Roundball Classic High
school All-American game in Chicago, Illinois.
From 2004-06, he was the manager for Coaches
versus Cancer, coordinating all fundraising efforts with NCAA and NBA coaches. In that position, he also acted as the director of the Snapple
Westchester Classic College Basketball game
and the Coaches vs. Cancer Coaching clinic.
For five years prior to that, Vetrone was a consultant for The Hoop Group/Eastern Invitational
Camps. He worked to enhance individual skills
of all camp participants, while also serving as the
head coach of the One-World-All-Stars exhibition
team and director of the International Basketball
League Draft.
Vetrone began his coaching career in 1985 as
an assistant basketball coach for LIU-CW Post,
where he was the chief recruiter, organized workouts and in-season practice sessions. He was
also responsible for established study hall and
bi-weekly student grade updates and served as
the liaison for housing department and financial
aid office.
He then moved to Fairleigh Dickinson as an assistant coach (1988-91), where his responsibilities included recruiting, scheduling recruiting visits and coordinating recruiting calendars. At the
University of California- Irvine, Vetrone was an
assistant coach from 1991-95 and worked as the
recruiting coordinator as well as hosting alumni
and booster club events.
For four years, Vetrone was an assistant coach
at University of Nevada- Las Vegas, where he
scouted, recruited and coordinated game strategy.
New Faces on the Staff
Damon Francis is in his first year on the Knights’
coaching staff. The former assistant coach at
Missouri State-West Plains, a JUCO in West
Plains, MO, will be one of two new assistants on
the staff. Ther other is Chris Brickley, who comes
to FDU after serving as a grad assistant at Mississippi. He played collegiately at Northeastern
and Louisville. Brickley played under Rick Pitino
at Louisville, while graduating in 2010. He is the
youngest coach in all of Division I. Both join second year assistant Marcus Toney-EL. The former
Seton Hall standout was promoted to Associate
Head Coach in the offseason.

Preseason Coaches Poll
The Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s basketball team was selected to finish twelth (last) in the
preseason rankings, announced during a media
teleconference with coaches as a prelude to the
NEC’s 31th season.
The Frontcourt
Vetrone will give long looks to a host of newcomers to help sure up a thin frontcourt, which includes just two returnees. The Knights hope that
two graudate student transfers, George Goode
and Mouhamed Lo, can patrol the paint. Both
players have one year of elgibility left after graduating from their previous insitutions. Goode
played three seasons at Louisville, averaging 2.0
points and 1.4 rebounds in 59 career games. Lo,
who is the adopted brother of current teammate
Lou Larizza, played three seasons at Toldeo before opting not to play last season. He averaged
4.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 80 career games.
Junior college transfer Kinu Rochford, who
comes from the Global Institute of Technology
will play a key role in the paint as well. The undersized post player has averaged a double-double everywhere he has played as he has a knack
to find rebounds.
Sophomores Mathias Seilund and Ayotunde
Oyeniyi are the only two returnees who saw action in the frontcourt last season. Seilund, who
started 15 of 26 contests, finished the season averaging 4.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest.
Oyeniyi saw action in 22 games, averaging 1.8
points and 2.1 rebounds per contest.
The Backcourt
The FDU backcourt only returns seniors Briahn
Smith and Sam Fernley. Smith started 21 of 28
contests, averaging 6.1 points and 2.4 rebounds
per game. He also knocked down 35 threepointers. Fernley only saw action in 16 contests,
averaging 3.3 minutes per game.
The Knights, who graduated leading scorer
Mike Scott, will look add depth with junior college transfers Lonnie Hayes and Lonnie Robinson and junior transfer Melquan Bolding, who
sat out last season after playing two seasons at
Duquesne.
Hayes will look to fill Scott’s role at the point
guard position. He comes to FDU after a standout career on the JUCO level at Missouri-State
West Plains that saw him lead his team to a national No. 1 ranking and a trip to the JUCO Naitonal Tournament. Hayes was named a JUCO
All-American last season.
Robinson averaged 15 points a game last season at Western Texas. He will compete for time
at the two and the three.
2011-12 FDU Men’s Basketball
Bolding is a former Atlantic 10 All-Rookie perfomer
at Duquesne. In his two seasons, he averaged
10.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, while
starting 40 of 53 career contests. He played his
best basketball for the Dukes as he led them to
the finals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament in 2010.
Bolding will be looked on to be FDU’s primary
scorer and will be an immediate impact player in
the Northeast Conference.
Freshman Dylan Moody will look to spell Hayes at
the point guard position from time to time, junior
Lou Larizza will also add some depth once he returns from injury.
The Newcomers
If the Knights want to make it back to the NEC
Tournament this season, it is going to be up to the
seven newcomers who join the four returnees who
saw action last season. In all, the Knights have
10 newcomers as sophomore transfer Yves Jules
(Hofstra), sophomore Mustaffa Jones (redshirting
but played last season at Hartford) and freshman
Anthony Avent, Jr. (redshirting) will be sitting out
this season. Avent’s father, Anthony, played college ball at Seton Hall and played in the NBA.
