PROFESSIONAL STAFF
Our full-time parks and recreation staff is responsible for the day to day operations of
facilities, grounds and maintenance to 11 parks, 7 athletic fields, 14 pavilions and public
restrooms, all located within your township.
Recently, each member of our staff has also passed all appropriate clearance and background
checks to serve the community in a transparent manner that you have come to expect.
Assistance is also provided for special events and recreational activities. On-going training
and education allows us to meet and exceed the responsibilities of keeping our parks a
beloved community destination.
In addition, all programs/events are planned, budgeted and coordinated through a
professional Dept. Director who oversees both divisions of the department while serving to
meet the needs of local residents.
Dear Friends,
I am pleased to present our 2016 Spring & Summer Guide Book and am just as thrilled
about the valuable benefits our parks and recreation programs offer.
This guide will help you navigate through a seasonal array of fun and provide you an invitation to explore
all eleven parks within the township. In addition, we wish that you keep this book handy when circling the
calendar for that “can’t miss event”.
With spring just around the corner, North Huntingdon Township’s Dept. of Parks & Recreation has been
busy preparing for another great season! Our annual special events, recreation programs, and park
activities season is about to begin and we have plenty in store to keep you and your family engaged in the
community.
Families can make the most of the opportunities provided and enjoy outdoor activities or learn new skills.
Make this year the year to try fishing, explore nature trail walks, sign up for youth sports, enroll in a
summer sports camp, attend a movie in the park, plan a picnic, act out in our performing arts camp and
much more.
We recently completed construction of a new children’s playground at Oak Hollow Park adjacent to
the Pine Pavilion. Featuring some of the latest trends in equipment, this playground piece will be a
welcomed addition to our park assets with additional room for expansion. Youth sports provide a healthy dose of self-esteem and our line-up of sports camps this summer is
sure to meet those needs. Character development happens here, where children learn teamwork,
collaboration and resilience. Our sports programs start with preschool experiences, and continue
through teen years with a variety of sport offerings. Being involved in sports is shown to support
academic, social and emotional development, as does taking advantage of our other children’s
enrichment programs. Our valued partnerships with Jump Start Sports, Fit Kids Factory, Rex Arts, our
own NHTPD will broaden your opportunities.
North Huntingdon Township is a township committed to quality living. This commitment remains
through the proud staff and volunteers who work year round looking to meet the leisure time needs of
our residents. As you take the time to view the numerous programs, activities, and special events we
have planned for this spring and summer, you will see that we have tried our best to offer something
fun and exciting for all ages, young and old. One last thing, we welcome your feedback and input. If
you have any information or concerns you would like to share, as always, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support!

During activities where parents are a part of the supervision process, we ask that parents be responsible for their children before, during, and after any event
of activity. This is due to that nature of public recreation programs and the heavy emphasis placed on the use of volunteers. We feel that it is important to communicate this to you since supervision must be a parent’s responsibility and cannot be reasonably imposed upon volunteers or employees working with the
various programs. In agreeing to take this responsibility as a parent, we believe that your child’s participation in our recreation programs will be a
safe and rewarding experience.
PHOTO RELEASE STATEMENT: By registering for any North Huntingdon Township program, class or event, you are agreeing to allow the publication
of any photos taken of you and/or your child at any program, class, event or facility of North Huntingdon Township unless otherwise specified.
