All sidewalls are a full five feet height, allowing a roomy feel, even for tall campers. Peaks and corners are reinforced with a high strength 40-ounce industrial vinyl patch (A) that will allow penetration for easily joining up with porch or cook shack frames and remains sealed if not in use. The eaves are reinforced with ropes, parallel double-stitched, and are a full 3 inches wide (B), which provides longer life for the wall panels. Both ends of the tent have a double layer of fabric (C) to provide reinforcement and prevent abrasion if you use an internal frame. All main seams are double lap felled (D). These are stronger and much more water repellent than the typical flat stitched seam. It also gives the tent a more attractive appearance — there are no raw edges exposed. Bottom hems are triple layered (E) and include #4 brass grommets for staking. All tents include a 12” vinyl sod cloth (F) to seal out the weather and pests. Our silicone stove pipe ring (G) has a Velcro flap to close out the weather when not in use. The stove hole can be located wherever you desire it, though we recommend it be placed in a side wall to minimize leaking, wind damage (which can cause the stove pipe to pull out due to up and down motion of the roof canvas) and to allow simpler installation of a fly. This sidewall location is standard on our Centennial Tent line. All doors include easy to use Fastex side release buckles (H) to secure them for weather protection and to hold the doors in an open position. Our doors are unique in that they open all the way to the ridge, which allows an open, airy feel and easier access. All tents are shipped with easy to tie synthetic/manila rope, hardwood rope locks for tensioning the tent, and a canvas bag. 800.869.7162 • www.rainiertents.com •2• The Rainier Story Anatomy of a Wall Tent If our Rainier Wall Tent were human, it would be an old man with a lot of good stories. Army Duck: Our Premier Fabric Army Duck has the remarkable quality of being highly water repellent while at the same time being very breathable. It’s a tightly woven, 100% cotton duck with the best water-repellent finish available. Normal moisture built up within the tent will pass freely through the fibers creating a very comfortable living environment, making it cooler in the summer and more Tent Fly: Made of off-white, 14 oz. polyester reinforced vinyl; a properly installed tent fly will contact the tent along the ridgeline and provide an air space between the tent and the fly. The tent fly overlaps the tent approximately 1’ on all sides. Grommets are place in reinforced hems that have a roped edge for extra strength. On a hot, sunny day the air space will keep the inside of your tent remarkably cool. In extremely wet or humid conditions, the tent fly prevents any rain from contacting the roof of your wall tent. This allows the tent to “breathe” out moisture even under severe winter conditions. When it snows, the slick surface of vinyl fly will cause the snow to slide off of the roof with almost no resistance. Since a fly keeps most of the rain from contacting your tent, you will be packing out a fairly dry tent. This makes it easy to move from camp to camp. Your fly will protect your tent from most direct sun UV rays. This simple function can extend the life of your tent by years. Your fly will feel the effects of the weather, but it will add years to the life of your tent and is much less expensive to replace than the tent. Tent Floors: Tent floors are made of brown 18 oz. polyester reinforced vinyl. All seams are heat sealed to create a completely waterproof tent floor to keep your belongings safe from moisture and pests. Grommets are placed in the corners. Cut out a 5’ x 5’ area for easy placement of your camp stove. Wall Tent Room Divider: The room divider is a handy item designed to hang from the interior frame. It is split in the middle with a 1’ overlap, allowing easy access while still affording privacy in the back. This is the classic kitchen from where the aroma of hot coffee and breakfast has filled logging and mining camps around the world for a century. The Rainier Cook Shack is a 10’ extension that joins perfectly with your wall tent and provides a cooking area separate from the sleeping area. It includes a stove jack and the same deluxe Rainier Wall Tent door with Fastex buckles that is found on our standard tents. The Cook Shack frame merges with the wall tent frame to eliminate the need for the frame uprights and rafters to be against the tent. The Cook Shack cover overlaps the wall tent by 12 inches to prevent leaking.
