dding a touch of theatrics to
every show, Eaglesmith dubbed
his band The Traveling Steam
Show and they began performing
in steampunk-ish outfits a few years
ago when he released his Latininfluenced rock album Cha Cha Cha.
“It harkens back to the ’60s and
’70s variety shows that were on TV,”
Eaglesmith told the Albuquerque
Journal. “It’s a show. It’s a lot
more than a concert. I like to pay
attention to what’s cutting edge
and bring that into the live show.”
Tambourine, Fred Eaglesmith’s 20th album
reaffirms his rock ‘n’ roll odyssey and is
some of his most comprehensive work yet.
The band’s musical cohesion shows how
tried and true his Travelling Steam Show
really is and the level of production and
engineering brings it all together to set a
new bar of originality and creativity.

performance that opens with the
death of a beloved matriarch and
touches on such subjects as being an
‘ex-Catholic’ queer and the dynamics of
‘small-town’ big families, and leaves us
all asking ourselves what we truly inherit
from the blood that runs in our veins. Grappling with the complex and intensely
personal issues of gender identity as
well as topics such as family, class, and
social justice, Ivan Coyote is an audience
favourite from Anchorage to Amsterdam.
With a generous heart, a quick wit, and
the nuanced and finely-honed timing
of a gifted raconteur, Ivan’s stories
remind of us of our own fallible and
imperfect humanity while at the same
time inspiring us to change the world.
