The Armenia School Foundation (ASF USA) was founded in May 2003, in Glendale California,
as a non-profit and non sectarian organization. ASF provides new and sturdy furniture to schools
across Armenia to enhance all students’ learning environment, enabling them to succeed.
Over the past five years, ASF has expanded its operation through continuous fundraising activities.
Since its inception, with the strong support of the Armenian community, over 180 schools in 11
regions have received new classroom furniture.
Various supporters have praised ASF’s focus, dedication, and effective work. Its credibility has
resulted in receiving funds from organizations such as the Armenian Educational Foundation, the
Sunrise Rotary Club of Glendale and Rotary Pasadena; collaborating with Glendale Ghapan Sister
City Association, the Rural Development Program of Armenia Fund, Inc, Armenian-American
Chamber of Commerce and Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter.
The Armenia School Foundation’s 5th Anniversary Gala in May of 2008 commemorates the
demonstration of a strong belief in the bright future of Armenia and Karabagh by enhancing the
educational environment of the future generations.

Dear Armenia School Foundation Supporters,
Since its inception, in May 2003, Armenia School Foundation (ASF) has managed to continue and
expand its operation substantially by completely refurnishing close to 180 schools in all regions of
Armenia and Karabagh.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to serve as the Chairman of ASF, and work with a dedicated group
of volunteers, and members of the Board of Directors, who believe in ASF’s mission and strive to
make a difference in the lives of the future generation.
The Honorary Board members have been an integral part of our efforts with whom we share our
accomplishments. We have benefited from their support and input, for which we extend them our
appreciation.
Our ASF staff in Armenia has managed to overcome enormous challenges during the last five years,
and we thank them for their hard work.
I am proud of our recent partnerships with various organizations such as Armenian Education
Foundation, which has been our largest supporter to date. Our close collaboration with the
Glendale-Ghapan Sister City Association resulted in refurnishing a school in the city of Ghapan. We
reenergized our ties to Armenia Fund by becoming a partner in the Rural Development Program.
Our meetings with Deputy Minister of Education laid the groundwork for future projects. Our
gratitude to Homenetmen Glendale Ararat Chapter, Armenian-American Chamber of Commerce,
as well as the Sunrise Rotary Club of Glendale, and Rotary Club of Pasadena for their continued
support.
Many of you have stated that ASF is very unique because of its focus and effectiveness. We extend
our gratitude to all the supporters who share in our beliefs and through their contributions help us
remain a viable organization.
Together we can make a big difference and build a better learning environment for our children in
Armenia and Karabagh.

Dear ASF Board Members,
I recall the wonderful time we had in Armenia,
especially when we visited the school we had sponsored, in
memory of my late brother, Seroj Mirbegian. It was a very
emotional day for me and my sister.
The school was very nice and we were greeted with a lot of
warmth. The principal took us to every single class, where
the students welcomed us with a song. A “Haykakan”
breakfast was prepared during which the principal talked
about the school, and of other difficulties and challenges.
Yet he was quick to mention that the brand new chairs and
desks was a breath of fresh air, and how it has boosted
everyone’s’ spirits. I really enjoyed my trip and that visit
was the highlight of the entire trip.

friends, the Number 1 School (Khachatour Abovian) in
Stepanakert, Karabagh is completely refurnished. Thank
you again for making sure the school furniture reached so
many lovely students who will one day lead Armenia to a
brighter future.
Levon and I are very proud that our friends and family were
able to contribute to a cause which is so dear to our hearts.
Our children surprised us for our 40th Wedding Anniversary
and made sure that our celebration would make a difference
in Armenia.

Fundraising Events and Activities
May 2003- The Armenia School Foundation was founded in Glendale, CA.
April 2, 2004- The Armenia School Foundation (ASF) held its first successful fundraising Gala in Glendale,
CA.
March 5, and September 25, 2005- ASF hosted two successful fundraising events.
April 5, 2006 – ASF held a cocktail reception at Rebecca and Caro Minas’s residence to raise funds for
renovating schools.
April 12, 2007 – The Armenia School Foundation (ASF), announced its new Board members during its
first public meeting held in Glendale, CA.
April 12, 2007 – The new ASF website, www.armeniaschoolfoundation.org, was launched, with the
objective of providing easy access to the Foundation’s past and future project information. The website
has enabled us to successfully expand our reach worldwide and create the means to communicate with us
directly.
June 10, 2007 – ASF held a cocktail reception at Ara and Carol Akopian’s residence to introduce its new
Honorary Board Members, as well as raising funds for future projects. Mr. Hrand Der Sarkissian provided
details on how ASF refurnished over 40 renovated schools in Armenia with funds provide by Armenia
Educational Foundation.
October 2007 – ASF moved to its new office space in Glendale, CA.
October 21, 2007 - ASF hosted another successful event. Renowned Armenian artists, Vahe Berberian,
Samvel Saghatelian and Vachik Ter Sarkissian (Vachag), displayed their latest art pieces at the “Art Show”
held at Ararat Center, and helped raise funds for ASF’s projects, by contributing a portion of the proceeds.
December 2007- The Board of Directors met with Mr. Bagrat Yessayan, Republic of Armenia’s Deputy
Minister of Education, in Glendale to update him on ASF past activities as well as discussing future projects
and working relations.
In addition to major events, ASF raises funds by raffle sales, direct mailing, online donations and providing
opportunities for supporters to send donations in lieu of flowers in memory of their loved ones or in lieu of
gifts for christenings, wedding anniversaries and birthday celebrations.
ASF is committed to create new partnerships or leverage its resources with all organizations which strive to
improve the educational environment in Armenia and Karabagh.
