The nation was still reeling from the effects of Typhoon Yolanda. With all attention
and efforts concentrated on providing the relief needs of the victims, we did not expect
to receive any financial assistance for the Pamaskong Handog — an annual Christmas
gift-giving program for the SOH-funded schools. This regular project is intended to help
the children feel and appreciate the spirit of Christmas.
It was then a delightful surprise when we found out that our churches in the USA
initiated to support the Christmas program for our schools. Within a week, they were
able to raise the necessary amount.
Because of this passionate generosity, we were able to push through with the
Pamaskong Handog. Around 214 children and teachers received a gift pack worth
Php300 each. Gifts included toys, groceries and other useful materials and a treat to a
delicious afternoon meal - the details of which depended on
which venue the local school afforded. The program was held in
their respective areas on various dates.
WIN churches from Dubai, Barcelona, Germany, Netherlands,
and Singapore East Koino also extended their support through
feeding programs in Baguio, Mindoro, Vitas and Bayawan.
