GETTING TO THE FESTIVAL
On the 76th anniversary of the Atlanta Dogwood
Festival, I reflect on my fifth year with the event.
During my first year the festival had to be moved
to the Lenox Mall parking lot. It was a challenge to
everyone involved but we pulled it off. It did serve
as a testament to the love Atlanta has for the festival
and a reaffirmation of how the Dogwood Festival
means springtime in Piedmont Park. Upon our
return to the park the following year, we used the
opportunity to take a fresh look at the event. Since
then, the artist market has expanded and spread
out to provide a more open feeling complementing the natural beauty of the
park. The Atlanta High School Art Exhibition found a permanent home in the
park’s Community Center. We also started the International Stage and Village
area that now features groups from over 20 countries. We concentrated on a
green initiative that won us top national honors for “Best Green Component in A
Festival”. The upscale food and wine experience of Friends of Dogwood and La
Fête were added in the renovated Greystone event facility and amusement rides
are now featured in the meadow. Naturally, the festival has continued to offer
favorites such as the Disc Dog Tournament, Kid’s Village, food courts, Corona
Light Beer Garden and the Coca-Cola / Xfinity main stage, where great music
is featured throughout the weekend. This year we are particularly excited about
a new presenting partnership with PNC Bank, that has allowed us bring in the
world-renowned Robert Flack for a free Saturday night concert. The festival
board, staff, crew and large number of volunteers invite you come and enjoy our
76th celebration as we continue to strive to present the best festival possible,
keeping it new, fresh and vibrant each year. We also hope you consider becoming
involved with the festival in the future. We’d love to have you.
The best way to get to the 76th Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival is on MARTA. Shuttles will
run from the Arts Center and Midtown stations.
If you do drive, parking is available in the Campanile Parking Deck at 1155 Juniper Street
and at the Sage Parking Facility operated by the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
Shuttle Service
Take the shuttle from MARTA or from the Campanile deck on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
and Sunday from 10 a.m. from 5 p.m. We are excited that again this year, the shuttle fleet will
include Hybrid buses generously provided by our friends at Atlantic Station.
We ’r e S o r r y. . .
Please leave your dogs at home!
Due to a city ordinance, no dogs (other than service dogs and
the pre-registered competing dogs) will be allowed in Piedmont
Park during the festival.

It takes a great sense of humor to put on the city’s oldest festival, so we start off the
weekend with the Dogwood Comedy Fringe: The Art of Comedy stand-up competition on
the International Stage from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. We’ve been gearing up for this all month

Ever I Saw Your Face” and “The Closer I Get to You,” Flack traverses a broad musical
landscape from pop to soul to folk to jazz.

NOW BLOOMING
Gibbs Gardens: spring headquarters
for dogwood, azalea and cherry blossoms
S
pring starts at spectacular Gibbs Gardens, set in the foothills of the North
Georgia Mountains -- less than 40 minutes north of Atlanta. Thousands of mature
native dogwoods will bloom through the first two to three weeks of April.
More than 1,000 azaleas – Kurume, Indica, Satsuki, native azaleas and many others
– start blooming in April and continue through summer into fall. Over 500 cherry trees are
now blooming. You haven’t experienced spring until you’ve
visited Gibbs Gardens.
Stroll through 300 acres of gentle hillsides covered with
mature trees, pristine streams, waterfalls and natural springs
that flow seamlessly around 220 acres of artistically designed
gardens.
Sixteen garden venues create
amazing flowering scenes that change
every two to three weeks. Start your
tour today at www.gibbsgardens.com.

INTERNATIONAL STAGE AND VILLAGE
Midtown welcomes the world! The popular International Stage will be back this year along
with an exciting selection of Cultural Exchange Pavilions to broaden your horizons without
leaving the city limits. This year’s Cultural Exchange Pavilions include representation from
Lebanon, Canada, Germany, Mexico, France and the Caribbean. Don’t miss these edutainment
booths where you can learn new things about some of our global friends. Look out for our
fun and quirky golf carts decorated by members of the international community. These
“mobile art” golf carts can be found throughout the festival. One lucky participant will take
the Best in Show Golf Cart Trophy from last year’s winner Tony Alberto from the Philippine
community. Be on the lookout for your favorite!
