TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW the whole may be greater than the sum of its parts. But the parts are pretty cool too. Our constant pursuit of excellence is deeply embedded in our design, technology and materials. Every attribute and feature in each SCARPA boot relates to the desired terrain and intended use. Ski farther, harder, faster. POWERBLOCK Fixed POWERBLOCK forward-lean mechanism creates a complete lock between the cuff and shell for unmatched stiffness and control. Ski harder with confidence; knowing your boots will keep you driving for the fall line. TORSION CONTROL Using multi-injection technology, our Torsion Frame provides lateral rigidity independent of the tele-bellows. What more does any telemarker want? Maximum edge control in all snow conditions. HEEL RETENTION SYSTEMS Due to our HRS and instep straps, heel security has become a SCARPA trademark. Our instep strap configuration offers incredible fit for both touring comfort and rock-solid downhill performance. V-FRAME POWER RIBS V-Frame Power Ribs add considerable strength for maximum downhill performance. Maximizing a high strength-to-weight ratio so you can go FAST. SKI/WALK MECHANISM Easy to engage, the Ski/Walk Mechanism locks/releases the cuff, providing stiffness for downhill control or maximum flex for touring freedom. You gotta get up before you go down! EDGE GUARD Replaceable edge guard takes all the direct abuse from your ski edges. Keeps your boots and bellows safe. Disperses forefoot buckle pressure too. 101408 TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW strong. light. versatile. to simply call it plastic might make it angry. Pebax rules the world of plastic. No other material offers the same strength or power transmission with such startling lightness. PEBAX +25% And that’s exactly why 20+ SCARPA models are made of PEBAX. PU PEBAX PU Due to the high strength/weight ratio, Pebax boots offer alpine-performance minus 20% of the weight of PU (polyurethane) – requiring significantly less material to achieve similar performance. 1 pound on your feet = 5 lbs on your back. That’s per boot, meaning if your boots are one pound lighter each, that’s equivalent to 10 less pounds on your back – that’s 25% of the average day-pack weight! It takes all kinds. No other ski boot manufacturer in the world offers the range of binding compatibility that SCARPA does. There is no telemark, alpine touring or alpine binding in production for which SCARPA does not make a boot. ALPINE (DIN) The required standard for use in alpine bindings. Known interchangeably as DIN, TUV or ISO 5355, this standard is synonymous with dependable release and bomber security. (Though our lawyers tell us that no boot/binding system can guarantee your safety in all circumstances.) ALPINE TOURING (AT) Sometimes referred to as UNI or ISO 9523, the universal norm for alpine touring features a lug sole for maximum traction over any terrain. These boots are only recommended for use in touring bindings. Or walking anywhere requiring positive traction. TOUR LITE TECH (TLT) Also known as the Dynafit System, TLT represents the lightest alpine touring binding available and requires special boot fittings. SCARPA has 11 boots with TLT fittings, including the Terminator X and Terminator X Pro telemark boots (NTN) that are compatible with touring bindings. 75MM TELEMARK NORM (75MM) As the name implies, the traditional “duck-billed” boot is the telemark norm. This has been the standard for telemark boots and bindings since the telemark revival of the 1970s. NEW TELEMARK NORM (NTN) The revolutionary New Telemark Norm boot standard fits Rottefella’s NTN bindings and features an AT spec toe. With an underfoot attachment, this boot/binding system redefines telemark performance. For more information on the binding, please visit www.rottefella.no/english/start_telemark.htm 101408 freeride technology Downhill performance begins with a solid foundation. For the pushers, those who are always trying to get more, SCARPA Freeride boots offer both categorydefining performance and unparalleled versatility thanks to the Vibram Ride Sole – the first all-rubber DIN standard sole. The Ride sole makes for perfect interface with your alpine bindings while offering better traction than any plastic DIN sole. For those who require extra traction, our lugged Rally sole is available as an accessory. TUV-certified Our Tornado Pro with the Ride sole is the only boot in the world TUV-certified for use in both alpine and AT bindings! In addition, it’s the only TUV-certified boot with a rubber sole, guaranteeing that your boots perfectly integrate with your Alpine or AT bindings. Anti-friction device (AFD) The primary interface that enables predictable release from alpine bindings. wing Tough rubber wings between the toe and heel eliminate snow buildup and offer exceptional grip on any terrain. rubber din sole Thanks to the special rubber composite developed by Vibram especially for SCARPA this DIN sole offers maximum traction, whether crossing the parking lot or the ski area boundary. rally sole AT-compatible, rockered rubber AT soles enable superior climbing and high-traction reliability for off-piste use. 101408 alpine touring technology Energy conservation on a personal level. Many folks think that ‘lightweight’ and ‘efficiency’ are goals in and of themselves. Those driven to ski know better. These are only a means to ski MORE. More laps, more turns, more vert, more fun. Optimized Touring Pivot Some SCARPA TLT-compatible touring boot models feature the Optimized Touring Pivot. We’ve adjusted the TLT toe-fitting from the standard location to slightly farther under the foot for significantly increased touring efficiency. Saving just a little energy every step adds up over several thousand vertical feet. (*Please see the owners manual for specific mounting requirements, www.scarpa.com/2008skiownermanual) tongues ski tongue For maximum downhill performance, specific models are compatible with our Ski tongue. This offers a 20% increase in stiffness compared to the Walk tongue! Dial in your performance on those days when you want to ski hard and fast at the resort. walk tongue For all-day touring, specific models can swap tongues to the Walk tongue. Hinged in the middle, it provides incredible all-day touring comfort, and also provides a nice performance complement to the Ski tongue. 101408 ergonomic bellows Our “F” series boots are touring machines thanks to these bellows. A more natural stride means both enhanced comfort and world-class efficiency. telemark technology The sole has changed, but the soul remains. Our NTN (New Telemark Norm) boots, the Terminator X and Terminator X Pro, represent our commitment to innovation. When combined with NTN bindings, this new system for telemark skiing offers the control, performance, convenience and security normally associated with alpine bindings. If you are a control freak, you need NTN. TLT-compatible The SCARPA NTN boots are the only telemark boots in the world that work with a fixed-heel touring binding. The actual NTN spec designates an AT-boot toe profile and the second-heel for the binding to bite on. Which means no more heel cables to deal with and no more duckbill. The NTN spec provides increased leverage, and the elimination of ‘slop’ between the boot and binding that telemarkers have always just dealt with. NTN bindings feature the ease of a step-in interface, a reliable release system and an integrated brake. Combined, these add up to the closest thing telemarkers have ever experienced compared to alpine performance. 101408 scarpa intuition liners Combining SCARPA’s attention to detail, the proven experience of Intuition® – manufacturer of the original heat-moldable liner – and Ultralon® foam, the world’s best thermo-moldable material, these new liners fit better out of the box, ski better out of the box and custom mold better than any other liner available. ultralon® foam n n n n n n n n n Ultra lightweight Super warm Maximum energy transfer Can be molded again and again Different densities optimize comfort and performance Resilient and durable = minimum packout Supportive enough for medical orthotics Antibacterial Fast drying absolute precision fit n n n n n n n n 101408 layered foam n pull tab n Lasted in half-size increments Men’s and women’s specific lasts Each specific liner molded in model-specific shell Both overlap and tongued closure Ski with or without a footbed Hidden stitching eliminates pressure points Silicone tread for maximum traction toe box speed precision high - Hurricane - Tornado Pro - T-Race - spirit 4 - spirit 3 - matrix - t1 - terminator x pro precision high lady precision lady speed pro m’s speed pro w’s - diva - star lite - Typhoon - skookum - domina - t1 lady n silicone tread precision - f3 performance tour - terminator x TECHNICAL COMPARISON CHART BOOT UPHILL PERFORMANCE DOWNHILL PERFORMANCE FLEX BINDING INDEX BUCKLES COMPATIBILITY WEIGHT FREERIDE SERIES + HURRICANE 120 4 DIN/AT 1808g (27) 3lbs 15oz TYPHOON + + 110 (90) 4 DIN/AT 1854g (27) 4lbs 1oz DOMINA + + 110 (90) 4 DIN/AT 1666g (27) 3lbs 11oz 90 (110) 4 DIN/AT 1844g (27) 4lbs 1oz + 110 (90) 4 AT/TLT 1876g (27) 4lbs 2oz TORNADO PRO ALPINE TOURING SERIES SKOOKUM + SPIRIT 4 + 90 (110) 4 AT/TLT 1814g (27) 3lbs 15oz DIVA + 90 (110) 4 AT/TLT 1560g (25) 3lbs 8oz SPIRIT 3 + + 90 3 AT/TLT 1760g (27) 3lbs 14oz STAR LITE + + 80 3 AT/TLT 1500g (25) 3lbs 7oz 90 4 AT 1690g (27) 3lbs 13oz DENALI MATRIX + 80 3 AT/TLT 1670g (27) 3lbs 9oz F3 + N/A 3 TLT 1470g (27) 3lbs 3oz N/A 2 TLT 1350g (27) 2lbs 15oz N/A 2 TLT 1120g (27) 2lbs 7oz 4 75MM 1945g (27) 4lbs 4oz T1 4 75MM 1926g (27) 4lbs 3oz T1 LADY 4 75MM 1720g (25) 3lbs 12oz 4 NTN/TLT 1670g (27) 3lbs 10oz + 3 NTN/TLT 1618g (27) 3lbs 8oz F1 + F1 RACE + + TELEMARK SERIES + T-RACE + TERMINATOR X PRO TERMINATOR X T2X + + 3 75MM 1570g (27) 3lbs 7oz T2X LADY + + 3 75MM 1440g (25) 3lbs 3oz 2 75MM 1200g (22) 2lbs 10oz TJ - Flex index is based on stock tongue. - If two #’s, the second represents another tongue included with boots. - Currently there is no flex index norm for any ski boot with flexible bellows. 101408 SIZING CHART FREERIDE + ALPINE TOURING + TELEMARK + MOUNTAINEERING MONDO* 21.5 22 22.5 23 23.5 24 24.5 25 25.5 26 26.5 27 27.5 28 28.5 29 29.5 30 30.5 31 31.5 32 US MENS US WOMENS 4.5 5.5 5 6 5.5 6.5 4.5 6 7 5 6.5 7.5 5.5 7 8 6 7.5 8.5 6.5 8 9 7 8.5 9.5 7.5 9 10 8 9.5 10.5 8.5 10 11 9 10.5 9.5 11 10 11.5 10.5 12 11 12.5 11.5 13 12 13.5 12.5 14 13 14.5 15 Highlighted (or not) sizes share the same shell size; the liners are lasted for each 1/2 size. *All SCARPA Ski boots are measured in Mondo sizing. **SCARPA Plastic Mountaineering boots are sized on the UK sizing scale. 101408 UK**
