Perth is bathed in sunshine for an average of nine hours a
day. So, while you explore its vast inner city park and feast
alfresco, chances are there’ll be blue sky overhead. You’ll also
discover vibrant arts, a lively café and small bar scene, plus
over 900 specialty shops.
MORNING
Fly to Perth, drop your bags at your accommodation and head up
to Kings Park – one of the largest inner-city parks in the world, with
some of the best views in Perth.
AFTERNOON
Just a 20-minute drive west from Kings Park, you’ll find a table for
lunch overlooking iconic Cottesloe Beach and the Indian Ocean.
Another 15 minutes’ drive south brings you to Fremantle, the
world’s best preserved 19th century port, home of artisanal food,
handcrafted beers, great coffee and quirky boutiques.
EVENING
Enjoy world-class degustation, local delicacies and views to die for
at one of Perth’s award-winning restaurants, followed by drinks in
the city’s buzzing small bars.

Spend a day on Perth’s island playground, Rottnest Island
– just a short ferry ride from the city. Only 11km long and
4.5km wide, it’s easy to explore the beautiful beaches and
unique flora and fauna of this Class A reserve in a day.
MORNING
Hop on a morning ferry from Fremantle or Perth’s Barrack Street
Jetty. Then hire a bike, catch the Bayseeker Bus, or join a guided tour
of the natural landscapes and fascinating history.
AFTERNOON
Swim, snorkel, picnic and relax on some of the island’s 63 whitesand beaches and 20 clear bays. Then return to Thomson Bay
Settlement for an afternoon coffee before catching the ferry back to
Perth.
For your first taste of the Margaret River region, day three
serves up some stunning Indian Ocean panoramas, local
arts, fine gourmet treats and dinner at the iconic Gourmet
Escape Beach BBQ featuring culinary creations inspired by
a world-class guest chef.
MORNING
Take the two-and-a-half hour drive to Busselton and enjoy coffee
overlooking beautiful Geographe Bay and the longest timber jetty in
the southern hemisphere – Busselton Jetty.
AFTERNOON
Drop your bags at your accommodation, head out to the wineries for
lunch in the vineyards, then browse the boutiques in Margaret River
or Dunsborough.
EVENING
Hit the white sands of Castle Bay Beach where you’ll find the
Gourmet Beach BBQ – a feast of foodie delights paired with some of
the finest local wines.
DAY 4
Your main course – the Gourmet Escape Village – is an
extraordinary day filled with the best produce from Western
Australia and the stars of the culinary world. Here, you can
indulge your mind and senses in cooking demonstrations,
wine tastings, masterclasses and chef Q&As against the
breathtaking backdrop of Leeuwin Estate Winery.
MORNING
Grab breakfast and gourmet bites at a local farmers market, or take a
drive to visit some of the local cheese and chocolate producers.
AFTERNOON
Make your way to the main event – the Gourmet Village opens at
11am at Leeuwin Estate Winery. A bus service is available, so you
can relax and enjoy the premium wines and hand-crafted beers.
EVENING
Catch an Indian Ocean sunset at Canal Rocks, Prevelly Beach or
Gracetown before dinner at one of the local favourites: Morries,
Muster, Swings Taphouse and Kitchen, Lamont’s Smith Beach
and Piari & Co.
DAY 5
Just two hours’ drive east from Margaret River, another
world of cool-climate wines, gourmet delights, talltree forests and wildflowers awaits in Pemberton and
Manjimup.
MORNING
Head into the forests of giant karri trees to taste the seasonal fruits,
wines and delicacies of Pemberton and Manjimup.
AFTERNOON
Take a table at a local winery for another long lunch in the vineyards,
and be sure to taste the local delicacy, marron.
Walk a little of the mighty long-distance Bibbulmun Track, or
challenge yourself to make the climb to the top of the Gloucester Tree
or Diamond Tree before returning to the Margaret River region for
dinner.
DAY 6
Drink in more of Margaret River’s incredibly diverse and
striking coastal landscapes with a walk on the legendary
Cape to Cape Track, and witness the epic annual
migration of humpback whales on their journey home
from the Kimberley to the Southern Ocean.
MORNING
Join a whale watching tour from Busselton to get closer to the
breaching, spy-hopping and tail-slapping action.
AFTERNOON
After lunch, take a stroll or a train ride on Busselton Jetty
and view Australia’s best artificial reef at the Underwater
Observatory.
EVENING
Choose from a huge array of Gourmet Escape satellite and
fringe evening events, including special themed winery
dinners, live music and meet-the-winemaker nights.
DAY 7
There’s plenty of time on your last day to enjoy
some more of the South West’s stunning scenery and
sensational flavours, with breakfast by the beach and
lunch in the rolling vineyards. Be sure to pick up some
gourmet treats for the journey home too.
MORNING
Breakfast in Margaret River or Dunsborough town and
browse the unique boutiques and art galleries for some
last-minute shopping.
AFTERNOON
Indulge in a long lunch at a local winery before making
the journey back to Perth for your return flight home. Allow
at least three hours – more if you plan a rest break in the
vibrant seaside cities of Bunbury or Mandurah.
