Page 3 EAST VALLEY NEWS— JANUARY, 2015 MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT As I look back at 2014, I am fortunate to be able to say it was a success. I met most of my production goals; still have my wonderful staff in place, I took time out to enjoy my family & the beauty of this world. I have to give NAIFA due credit, I know I have these type of success because of the professional friendships, the knowledge & leadership skills that all come from NAIFA. Thank You! Now – we all start at zero as we begin 2015. Yes, we have our book of business, our centers of influence, our staff, our systems, NAIFA & our motivation to make it the best year ever, so maybe we don’t start at zero after all. I asked Betty to include two articles from the ―advisor today” The first one provided you a list of FREE benefits that are available just because you’re a member. I have used the Virtual Library many times. You can find an article or explanation on any topic you need to brush up on. Or maybe you need something to share with a client to support your position. The second article is a sales idea for finding money for Permanent Life. Most of our clients would choose Whole Life if money wasn’t a concern – help take that concern away. As I look forward to our 2015 NAIFA year, we have some exciting programs planned. We all have April 15 th coming up – be sure to take lots of notes from Ron Reed’s January presentation. There may be deductions you’re not taking or record keeping that you’re not keeping. Ron’s presentation is sure to answer most of those questions. January 13th – Day at the Capitol. This is an opportunity for you to meet one-on-one with your State Legislator. This is an opportunity for you to make a difference. February – Morning with the Stars. For a $65 donation to NAIFAPAC you will hear from a lineup of speakers: Mike Sanfratello (my.fca.org/2133-sanfratello-mike.aspx) Norm Levine, & Tom Hegna. March’s program is Stephanie Holmes – Winton ―The Money Finder‖ March 21st is the State’s picnic & softball game. East Valley is building our own team & plan to take the trophy home. If you are interested in being on the team – just tell me or Lars Yes, ladies – we are playing! Take a look at our updated Website: http://naifaeastvalley.org/ you will find links for many helpful sites, a quick & easy way to contact/support our Sponsors, the Newsletter & most exciting for Betty – A direct RSVP link. You can conduct business without technology, and could be successful to a point---the real problem becomes that of long term relevance. How long will your customer base allow you the chance to not be engaged in the current world? You are involved, learn and contribute in the political process, so when something happens---we are invited to the table to help resolve the issue or to give an opinion that is heard. If you are not seen as a potential choice for the customer, you are not going to make a sale when they are considering how they solve their insurance and financial service’s needs. We could be one ―bad law‖ away from hurting our business opportunity beyond repair. Are you willing to risk your income without putting time, energy and money into a solution prior to the problem occurring? How much would you do or buy today…if you knew tomorrow was your last day here? Does this not sound like how we explain life insurance to our customers. Let’s get this plan started today….and it starts with your presence for DAY at the CAPITAL in 2015! Talk about staying engaged, learning and taking care of the customer in a relevant way. They may be the difference between success and failure, an acceptance or a rejection. Additionally, it makes no difference whether you are face to face or on the phone. First impressions make a big impact. Let’s look at some examples: Voice inflection tells people a lot about you. Always speak with an upbeat tone. If you are speaking to someone on the phone, identify yourself clearly, be courteous, and ask if the person has a minute to spend with you. If the person is not interested in speaking with you, thank him or her for the time and say good-bye. This is not the time to overcome objections. If you are meeting someone for the first time, dress appropriately, be on time, and be courteous. Regardless of the outcome of your first interaction, send a thank-you note YOUR APPROACH TELLS PEOPLE A LOT ABOUT YOU!
