THE PERFECT TAN
Inspired by the hues and
billowing silhouettes of the Indian
subcontinent, Benares injects
vibrant elegance into the
wardrobes of style sophisticates
by using only pure fabrics and
artisan-inspired techniques. Softly
draped scarves, silk and linen
dresses and tops are fashion
staples, alongside accessories like
handmade chokers in pearls, silk
and gold plated metal. Also, don’t
miss out the modern décor
pieces inspired by classic Indian
design to dress up your home.
Structured, angular bags
are here to stay. Ditch the
hobo already for a smart,
boxy number that spells
sophistication and edge.

FASHION REGIME
Top fashion icons are often
known for a signature look
that can be rocked 24/7. This
season, Marc Jacobs takes
the concept of a “style
uniform” to the next level,
showing scrubs-inspired
dresses and military-style
pieces, complete with
utilitarian pockets, buttoned
epaulettes and in every hue of
army green. With so many
riffs on the theme, settling on
one uniform will perhaps
require military discipline.
A forerunner in introducing
the top labels from around the
world to local aesthetes since
1986, multi-label boutique
Tyan has been the go-to for
high-quality designer finds
from the likes of Chalayan,
Sonia by Sonia Rykiel and Jean
Paul Gaultier. This season, be
sure to check out Vivienne
Tam’s modern take on Oriental
influence. It’s chinoiserie motifs

It is time to flaunt your
creative side by throwing on
accessories with a rainbow
palette that seems borrowed
from Matisse. Or dream up an
outfit after an art genre—the
Caten twins of Dsquared²
took inspiration from artist
Sonia Delaunay who founded
the Orphism movement with
her husband Robert, to create
yards of colour-blocked
fabrics, which they made into
voluminous maxi skirts and
poufy shorts.

This season, Vivienne Westwood’s diffusion line Red Label revisits
the house’s signatures—there are voluminous draped styles and rakish

folded and quirkily cut to define and contour the female form.

PEARLS OF WISDOM
Ring, Cartier
MIkimoto, long synonymous with the
finest cultured pearls, has opened its
first flagship boutique at ION Orchard.
The 581sqft store is also the first in
Singapore to carry a wide range of high
jewellery designs and even boasts a VIP
room to provide an intimate shopping
experience for those with an
appreciation for luxurious pearl
jewellery—like the feminine Double
Strand Ribbon necklace shown here,
complete with 146 Akoya pearls and
5.99 carats worth of diamonds.

Long-time favourites such as

MAKE A TOAST
Since its inception in 1996,

been satiating discerning
palates with its exquisite
selection of wines and
liquors from all over the
world. Notable amongst
them is Ballantine’s

STEAMING HOT
Imperial Treasure serves up
steamboat in a luxuriously spacious
environment. While the choice cuts of
meat, fresh seafood, vegetables and
handmade meatballs are impressive,
the highlight of the meal is the
restaurant’s flavourful soup
bases—from spicy Sichuan to rich
ginseng chicken—all made daily from
scratch and simmered for hours on
the stove before arriving at the table.
KEEPING IT COOL
Ballantine’s 30-year-old
blended scotch whisky
TWG Tea is where you want to
be to savour a myriad of tea
blends and tea-infused macarons. It
is also great for a mid-day refresher
as well—in the form of a tall glass of
iced tea. Available in 15 varieties from the
classics and exclusive ranges, TWG Tea’s Iced
Teabag collection also come in gift boxes of
eight, with each hand-sewn silk tea bag
containing 7.5 grams of whole tea leaves
enough for a large carafe.

PALATIAL PLATES
If the life-size portraits of
China’s emperors are
indicative of anything, it’s that
the dining experience at
Taste Paradise is fit for a
king. On the menu are
traditional—and decadent—
Chinese dishes with a
modern twist like Classic
Shark’s Fin in Supreme Broth
served with a crispy spring roll; Braised Foie Gras Served with Blueberry
Reduction; and XO Carrot Cake. Matching the palatial theme is the Super VIP
Room, which accommodates up to 18.
Summer Paradise
2am:dessertbar’s Janice Wong’s
eponymous sweets boutique lets
customers play with their food—by
creating works of edible art, that is.
Designed to resemble an ice-cream
cart, the grandly gilded candy shop is
the lauded pastry chef’s first foray into
retail products and offers over 70
types of imaginative sweets, from a
psychedelic array of Chocolate Paint
and Chocolate Bon Bons to Fruit
Rolls and Eclairs in fancy flavours of
peanut butter caramel, chocolate
truffle and popcorn.

TASTE OF TEMPTATION
Häagen-Dazs has taken the concept
of indulgence up a notch by launching its
new open-concept flagship store and
bar. On the menu: Dessert creations
such as the Brûlée Banana Split with
scoops of Belgian chocolate, strawberry
and vanilla ice-cream perched atop a
vanilla pound cake and garnished with
banana brûlée; ice-cream cocktails like
the tequila and Cointreau-infused fruity
Midsummer; and even tea-pairings
for the sophisticate.
