4E Update - St. Mary`s School
St. Mary’s School • Teacher: Mrs. Rajdl 4E Update February 14-18, 2011 Mysterious Solutions The 4E students have been intensely searching for evidence and through alibis to derive a solution to Mrs. Rajdl’s missing CD player. We have examined four or five alibis from various teachers and staff members to determine a link that pieces things all-together. The third through sixth graders practiced taking fingerprints last week and the first and second graders made a clinching discovery this week! We were thrilled to have Deputy Boyden stop in to check our progress and to sift through the evidence with us. He will be back to help the students use their expert senses and brainpower. In the next weeks, we will write case reports and hopefully solve Mrs. Rajdl’s mysery! A Comical View Student Column This issue features 4E students’ comic strips and additional reflections on developing and creating them. Comic Reflections… Angelina C. wrote the following . . . My comic strip, World of Juls, is about a main character named Pretty Poor Princess who looks for juls (jewels) with her friend. The word that best describes my character is adventurous. I enjoyed creating this comic strip because she is like me. Looking at my comic strip, I feel I drew well. If I could change anything, I would change my story line. When learning about and creating our comic strips, I discovered that it is fun! Spencer H. wrote . . . My comic strip, Juggles the Clown, is about a main character named Juggles who is a fat clown that tries to ruin a city. The word that best describes my character is crazy. I enjoyed creating this comic strip because it was fun drawing Juggles. Looking at my comic strip, I feel I had a good main idea. If I could change anything, I would draw better. When learning about and creating our comic strips, I discovered they can have two stories in one comic. Parker O. wrote . . . My comic strip, Little Penguin, is about a main character named Little Penguin who does things that get him in trouble. The word that best describes my character is curious. I enjoyed creating this comic strip because it had humor and some parts were intense. Looking at my comic strip, I feel I did good on making some things big. If I could change anything, I would change my details and make some things look neater. When learning about and creating our comic strips, I discovered that some comic strips are just a picture and you shouldn’t be afraid to show your work.
