GREETINGS TO ALL NOBLES AND LADIES OF BOUMI TEMPLE,
W
ith this issue, summer is starting
to fade, and in a few weeks fall
will be here in all its glory and color to
remind us that the year is slowly coming
to an end. Before it does, however, we
want to thank Chairman and Assistant
Rabban Mark Hartz, his committee,
and all nobles and their families and
friends who volunteered and worked at
the Carnival. The weather was against
us on a few nights, but for those who
attended, all had a good time.
We had a successful Ceremonial
in June with a large turnout of newly
elected and obligated nobles to witness
the program performed primarily by
members of the Knights of Mecca. A
tip of the Fez goes to President/Deputy
Grand Master Gus Vourvoulas for
bringing the Knights cast back after
an absence of a few years. With this
class of new nobles, our year-to-date
membership has increased in excess
of 75. With four months remaining in
2015, we still have time to add to the
total. Ask your Blue Lodge to invite
our membership team to make the
presentation. As our Most Worshipful
Grand Master Kenneth S. Wyvill Jr.
stated, “I am convinced that every
Mason should be a Shriner.” With your
help, we can try to make that happen.
Thank you to Convention Chairman
Jim Davis, P.P., for a great job in taking
care of things for all of the Boumi folks
in Houston. He had a lot of resistance
from some of the Embassy Suite
staff from time to time, but overall,
everything worked out fine and we all
had a good time in Texas. The only real
negative issue from my perspective was
the assessment increase approved at the
general session by a majority of the
voting members. This is addressed in
an open letter to the members in this
issue of Boumi News. (See Page 6.)
Congratulations to Noble Bill
Mattlin and his committee for a very
successful Golf Classic in July. Just shy
of 100 golfers participated in this year’s
event at the Hunt Valley Club. It was
very evident that Bill and his group had
spent a lot of time preparing for this
outing and fundraiser for the Shriners
Hospitals for Children—Philadelphia.
(See photos on Page 35.)
By the time you receive this, the 2015
State Fair and Beer Brigade Crew will be
history, but Chairman Ray Link is to be
commended for his efforts in making
this a profitable venture for Boumi. It
was still in the planning stages when
this article was being written, but from
past experience in seeing Ray at work,
we knew it was going to be successful.

From the Desk of the
RECORDER
s we move into the fall season and
activities pick up again, we need to
reflect on what has happened the first
nine months of this year. Since the last
Boumi News came out we have been
very busy. In June, we had one of the
largest classes of new Shriners we have
had in a long time. This is something
I hope we can keep going, and we will
if we all remember that every one of
us is on the membership committee.
Also, we must remember that first and
foremost we are all Shrine Masons.
We have a wonderful relationship
in Maryland with the Grand Lodge. I
don’t think most of us really appreciate
this relationship. We have had the
Grand Master’s support on just about
all of our activities, and he attended as
many as he could. Remembering this,
I urge all to support your Blue Lodges
because without strong Blue Lodges
we will not have the men coming into
the Shrine.
Please take the time to read the open
letter from the Board of Directors.
Potentate’s Message

Upcoming Events:
Business meeting on Thursday,
Sept. 3, at 7:30 p.m. We need more
petitions for new members. Ask
your friends and neighbors; let’s have
another large class for the October
Ceremonial in Cambridge.
Noble Ray Link is also Housing
Chairman for MASA in Virginia Beach
Sept. 9–12, as well as for the Bus Trip
to New York and West Point Sept. 30
to Oct. 2. There is still room for more
folks to attend either or both events, so
call Ray and come with us.
Sportsman Day on Sept. 19. There
are still plenty of tickets yet to sell.
We need your help. (See ad on Page
9.) Call Chairman Richard Feeser or
the Recorder for tickets for you, your
family, and your friends.
Harvest Home Day at Bonnie Blink on
Oct. 3. This will be a great day to be with
It will give you some much-needed
information.
On a personal note, I would like to
thank all of the nobles and their ladies
for the support that you have given me
this summer with my health problems.
You have made me feel very humble
and full of brotherly love towards
each and every one of you. Thank you,
again, for your support and know I will
always be here for each and every one
of you.
Ed
brother Master Masons and friends,
as well as a wonderful opportunity to
meet and greet potential new Shriners.
Keep a petition handy in your pocket
and HELP KEEP THE FAITH.

Wm. Raymond Bosley Jr.
Illustrious Potentate
OPEN LETTER FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Fellow Nobles,
We write to fill you in on some
changes in the dues at Boumi.
At the 2015 Imperial Session in
Houston, a resolution was brought
to the representatives to raise the
per capita contribution to Shriners
International by $15. This motion
was supported by more than twothirds of the representatives and
passed. Effective for 2016, the dues
of Boumi Shriners will reflect this
increase. If this increase causes a
financial hardship, please contact the
Recorder’s office—there is assistance
available through the Temple’s
Sunshine Fund.
Another important announcement
we would like to share with you is
the new amnesty program we have
started in an effort to welcome
back some members who may have
dropped out due to non-payment of
dues. If you know a former noble who
was dropped and would be interested
in restoring his membership, please
let him know about this program. If
a former noble pays the per capita
for the two years he was in arrears,
in addition to this year’s dues (a total
of $115), his Boumi membership
will be restored—there is no ballot
required and he does not have to
be re-initiated. For further details,
please call the Recorder’s office.
You have made great strides
growing our membership with new
nobles. Let’s work to bring back some
of those wonderful men who made
Boumi great!
Yours in the faith,

You are now a member of this very Illustrious Shrine, and
we urge that you take advantage of its many privileges. Activities are diversified and continuous at Boumi Shrine. Designed mainly to stimulate fun, joy and good fellowship, it is
ever the aim of our offices and committees to plan for every
Noble’s interest and pleasure. That you will join active participation in Boumi Shrine’s functions is our sincere hope.
Your interest and inclusion are certain to bring you the full
share of dividends to which every Boumi Noble is entitled.
Colonel’s Staff
Noble Donald C. Lewis
Colonel
Another great year is in the making for Boumi Temple.
Let’s start off with the membership committee and send
congratulations out to them for the 70 new Shriners of
Boumi Temple. And, from what I’m hearing, there are more
new members to follow—GREAT JOB! Join the bandwagon
and sign-up a few new members.
Next, the Potentate witnessed two great fun(d)raisers
that took place in June and July. The ninth annual Carnival
once again was marred by bad weather and all the pending
storms blowing through the surrounding areas. However,
we (the committee) weathered the elements of Mother
Nature, realigned the stars, adjusted the cosmos, and pushed
the rain clouds back east where they came from—and thus,
pulled off yet another successful Carnival. The Colonel
and Potentate would to thank ALL the Shriners who sold
corporate sponsor ads, volunteered to work the CHIP
program, painted clown faces on the kids, picked up and sold
pizzas, and worked the various booths for all the upcoming
events and activities that promoted our brotherhood and
Shrinedom. And last, but not least, all the members who set
up and broke down the tents and picnic tables and put the
parking lot and grounds back in working order.
Although the rain Gods were not favorable to the Carnival,
they surely were looking over the 29th Boumi Golf Classic.
The golf committee, again, did an outstanding job putting
together a most delightful event and the weather couldn’t
have been any nicer. A full slate of golfers, good food and
beverages that excited the palates of all, and of course the
great prizes and giveaways at the end of a grand day.
Please keep the children in our hospitals and past Colonels
John Friskey and Bernie Rogalski in your thoughts and
prayers. “God brought us to it and he will get us through it.”

Lady Theresa Needer
High Priestess
Festive Fall Greetings to all! The
officers of Yak-Rem-Peh Court #32 of
the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North
America hope you had a relaxing
summer and are looking forward to a
fabulous fall.
We had a rather busy summer
with the official visit of our Grand
High Priestess, Lady Joy Moore, in
July. She was treated to a tour given
by the new hospital administrator
and lunch at the Shriner’s Hospitals
for Children in Philadelphia, which
she enjoyed very much. “Mama” Joy’s
special project is to raise money for
an outdoor rehabilitation area at the
Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in
Pasadena, Ca., which she hopes will be
like the rehabilitation area we saw in
Philadelphia. As she said, “The kids are
having therapy, but they think they’re
just playing! Perfect!”
In September, everyone is welcome to
two great events we are hosting. The first
is a bus trip to Washington, D.C., on Sept.
14. We’ll be seeing the sights and getting
a behind-the-scenes look at the Capital.
If you prefer less walking, then our
Friendship Night dinner on Sept. 18
is for you. Join our fellowship as we
renew our ties after the summer break
with a great meal.
Reservations for both events can be
made with Lady Kathleen Palmer at
410-551-4724 or 1397 Teaberry Lane,
Severn, MD 21144.

Arab Patrol
Noble Mike Nelson
Captain
Patrolmen, Nobles, Ladies and Friends,
The Patrol had a great time at our
Annual 4th of July After-Parade Party
even though the Catonsville Parade was
cancelled. Thank you to Past Captain
Bob Deal and his lovely wife and head
Owl, Denise, for their hospitality!
As I have stated in the previous
Boumi News, we would like to invite
our NEW nobles to Boumi to come
by on the second Monday night of the
month at 7 p.m. for fellowship and
food. We would be honored to have
you as our guests. This invite extends
to fellow nobles and masons who have
not joined a unit in Boumi. I realized
a few years ago, you really do not get
what the Shrine has to offer until you
become part of a unit like the Arab
Patrol. We have a true Brotherhood and
bond and we are currently working on
bringing in some new members. If you
are interested in checking us out, come
on by to one of our meetings.
Remember your Blue Lodges. Reach
out and let your Brothers know what
Shrine Masonry is all about! For more
information, contact me at 410-6279990, [email protected],
or on Facebook (search “Boumi ArabPatrol”). We are the oldest unit in Boumi,
and we are growing, so come by and see
what it is all about!
Boumi Ladies
Lady Garneth Brown
President
Hello and welcome to fall. By the time
you read this article in the Boumi
News we will have already had our first
meeting. Hope everyone had a great
summer and exciting vacations.
We missed two meetings this year
due to bad weather. Here's hoping this
winter is a little kinder because I think
we all miss seeing each other.
For anyone reading this article for
the first time, the Boumi Ladies are
widows of Boumi Shriners. We meet
the fourth Monday of the month from
January through June in the Scimeter
Room at 11 a.m. We have a short
meeting, followed by lunch, and then
bingo for those who want to play. So if
you would like to join us you probably
already know someone who is a
current member. If not, you will feel
very welcome, meet the nicest ladies,
and make so many new friends.
We have several ladies who have not
been feeling their best. Please remember
them with a phone call or a card—it
means so much.
The Ladies would like to extent their
condolences to Lady Lois Robinson
who recently lost her sister. We are all
sorry for your loss, Lois.
Hope to see you all in September.

Knights of Mecca
Noble Kostas “Gus” Vourvoulas
President
As we move through these warm summer months, the
Knights of Mecca continue to be very active as a ritual team
as well as having social gatherings that all nobles can attend.
Our first Ladies’ Night of the year was held at the River
Watch Restaurant and Marina. It was one of the bestattended events in quite some time. Our next Ladies’ Night
is Oct. 30 at a location to be announced. Please put the date
on your calendars, as we would love to have you.
The Knights of Mecca performed the Shrine Ceremonial,
which we have not done in quite some time, for the new
nobles. We expect to make some changes to help it go a
little smoother in the fall when we will perform it again in
Cambridge, Md. We are also scheduled to confer the 3rd
degree at Centreville Lodge on Sept. 21 and at Patapsco
Lodge in Essex on Oct. 8.
Reminder again, if your lodge has a Master Mason Third
Degree coming up and would like to have the Knights of
Mecca visit, please contact Noble Bob Chase at 410-9166528 or [email protected]. We look forward to
hearing from you.
Dates to Remember:

Summer will soon be over and Virginia Beach will be over
in no time. Time does fly. The drawing for our fundraising
will have been awarded and the winner notified by phone.
A number of members are studying for their license and
we hope they will have it by Christmas. Some equipment
was received and will be tested for operational use. The
Boumi call sign is KB3BHO Boumi Ham Operator. We
enjoy having visitors in the Radio room when possible.
Call AA3OW at 410-665-4980 for time of operation. You

Brass Band
Noble A. Harrison Caughey
Bandmaster
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day. Weather has
been a factor for the Brass Band more the past year than in
the past several years. Rehearsals were cancelled as well as
parades and gigs. Having an outside performance affected is
one thing; however, June 23 was the first time in my memory
that an inside performance was affected. Rain, wind, hail and
flooding made it impossible for some band members to get
to Glen Meadows so we were missing some key instruments.
The audience was there and Glen Meadows said we could
reschedule but, after discussion, we decided we would play
with what we had available. We were glad we did. We are
already rescheduled for a full-band performance.
In July, the Legion of Honor hosted their Hospital Day Picnic
in the Boumi Pavilion. We were scheduled to play, but what was
happening in the morning? More rain! However, the weather
gods were good and there was a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
Each summer, the Star Motorcycle Club sponsors an Ice
Cream Social for the patients at Perry Point VA Medical Center.
Unplanned, one vet sang “New York, New York” with us and
another sang and played guitar. The Legion of Honor participated
with us this year, which I believe is most appropriate.
This year the Brass Band welcomed new members: nobles
Tim Cantler, Bill Hamer, A.C. Weber, Jon Comer and Mike
Hofman. We’re happy to have them with us. We welcome all
of you who play or have played an instrument to join us. We
have a good time at rehearsals
and at gigs. Stop in at a Tuesday
evening rehearsal or contact
Noble Harry Caughey at 410302-0596, myself at 410-6662992, or anyone in the Brass
Band for information.

Bou-Tem-Sci
Lady Linda D. Barnes, President
I do hope all the Bou-Tem-Sci members
had a relaxing, pleasant and enjoyable
summer. With the many hot and humid
days, we will be looking forward to the
refreshing cool weather of fall.
Many thanks to 1st Vice-President
Sandi Phillips for planning our delightful
June outing: a day at Hooper’s Island
on the Eastern Shore. At the Phillips
Seafood Factory, we saw Maryland blue
crabs being hand-picked and then were
able to purchase them. We went on the
“Sawyer” for a narrated cruise on the
Hongo River. At Old Salty’s Restaurant,
we enjoyed a delicious buffet luncheon
with tasty Maryland crab cakes. Before
leaving the area, we rode through the
Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. Everyone
had a wonderful and enjoyable day.
Our next regular meeting will be on
Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. at Columbus Gardens.
It will be so nice to see everyone after the
summer break. We will have a delicious
lunch, a short business meeting, and
enjoyable entertainment. Elvis will
be in the house, entertaining us with
famous hit songs and other popular
tunes. Hope you can join us.
Plans are going well for our 83rd
annual Charity Benefit “Taking Flight
For Our Children.” The Fashion Show
and Luncheon is on Oct. 19 beginning
at 11 a.m. at Columbus Gardens.
Fashions will be provided by Boscov’s
of White Marsh Mall. There will be
three raffles: a 50-50, baskets of goodies,
and the Potentate’s gift. Plus, there will
be a bake table, a jewelry table and a
collectibles/treasures table. This is our
major fundraiser for the year. The funds
help us to continue providing corrective
shoes to children who are in need of
them and to give monetary support to
the Shriners Hospitals for Children. For
a fashion show flyer, please call Sandi
Phillips at 410-557-8281. Reservation
deadline is Oct. 9. Come join us for this
wonderful day.
Daughters of the Nile
Zitta Temple #27
Lady Leah Wilhelmsen, Queen
I hope everyone is enjoying their
summer as much as I am. My first official
function was joining our members in
April to host the wives of our Shriners
who came to the business meeting. We
will again host the ladies who attend the
business meeting with their husbands in
September. I hope to see many familiar
faces and meet some new ones.
I also had the opportunity to join
my husband at the reception and
dinner honoring the Imperial Sir Dale
W. Stauss and First Lady Cheryl. How
delightful and how dedicated they are
to our Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Our first project was a great success
thanks to the ladies who contributed
their time, food items, and auction items,
and also to those who attended and
brought friends. We made $1,750 on the
auction that will be sent to the Shriners
Hospital in Philadelphia. Special thanks
to PQ Joan Mezoff for chairing this
event and making it a success.
I was fortunate to have been able
to attend the Supreme Session in
Albuquerque, NM, along with 11 other
ladies of the household. It was wonderful
to have eight ladies from the Patrol join
us. They performed perfectly and it was
my honor to have them escort me during
the opening and closing ceremonies.
Our Temple was honored with the
following Supreme Appointments:
Supreme Temple American Flag Escort
PQ Joan Mezoff and Supreme Temple
Banner Escort PQ Laura Bell. Our
congratulations to them both.
Also, mark your calendars for Oct.
25 and join us for brunch in honor of
Zitta Temple’s 90th Birthday. We hope
you and your family will join us in
honoring our longtime members. For
information and reservations, please
contact PQ Laura Bell at 443-226-4953
or [email protected].
Motor Corps
Noble Don Hurcombe
Captain
Hello from the Motor Corps. The Glen
Burnie and Catonsville parades were
“weathered out”; however, our parade
riders managed to participate in the Bel
Air and Havre De Grace parades. That
is a long and hot parade, but afterward,
they were treated to refreshments at a
private home.
Congratulations to our newest
member, Noble Clark Deems, whom we
voted on at our June meeting. We hope
to meet and greet him soon. In the last
news column it was mentioned that our
unit had six Past Masters on our roster.
To stand corrected, it’s seven that I know
of. Since four were mentioned already,
here are the other three: Nobles Ray
Lunn, Mark Hartz, and Jim Ringsaker.
We’re proud of you guys.
In this electronic age you can find your
Boumi News online, but it is still nice to
read the magazine. Unfortunately, a lot
of units and clubs are not represented in
print—the last issue had articles from
only five of the 15 units and, to make
matters worse, only six out of 28 clubs
had a column. I sure hope there will be
some improvement in the future.
Your next issue of the Boumi News
will be the last for 2015, but there are still
a lot of activities we will take part in. So
now we remind ALL nobles to show up
and support your Divan at the Boumi
Business meetings. See you there!

Gun Club
Noble Charles Leight
President
Our monthly shooting at Carney Rod
and Gun Club has been most enjoyable.
Summertime meals topped off with
good fellowship make for a relaxing
day. The 10-target competition gives
prizes to the top two shooters. The
50-bird (clay target) is a little more
challenging and a lot of fun.
We welcome new shooters and offer
instruction to those who wish to try
their hand at a great sport.

Ambassadors
Noble Edward A. DeWaters III
Chief
Our 2015 Chief Ambassador Edward A. DeWaters III wants
to take this opportunity to thank all of the Ambassadors
and nobility who have participated in our many functions
this year thus far. It has truly been a wonderful sharing of
fellowship between brothers and their families.
He also wants to say a “Special Thank you” for all who
supported our annual Crab Feast and, in particular, Noble
Bill Mezoff, PC, for his untiring efforts in the success of this
event for years!
Chief “Eddie” wants to remind all nobles of several items
that need your help. Boumi Shrine’s membership is at a
crucial number—approximately 2,300 members. For the last
several years we have had more members passing than new
ones joining. Our future is the membership, and I am asking
all Ambassadors to ask their Blue Lodges if we could give
a short presentation (5-10 minutes) about the benefits of
becoming a Boumi Shriner. I would also like to have contact
information for anyone who is in line in his Blue Lodge, so
that we can ask for permission to speak on a Lodge Night.
Please contact Noble Karl Ballwanz at 443-324-5507 with the
updated information, which we will share with the Grand
Lodge. You can help improve the membership by making
just a few phone calls.
One of the major fundraisers for Boumi this year is the
Sportsmen’s and Cash Giveaway on Sept. 19 from 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. The raffle includes a number of different guns and
rifles, including a crossbow, as well as cash prizes. Tickets
are $10 each, from which the Ambassadors get a dollar back
on each sale. Food and beverages will be served.
Here are several more upcoming activities to continue
this great fun and fellowship:
• Oct. 1 is the first meeting of the fall season. More
details will be forthcoming. Please mark your
calendars and keep the date available!
• Oct. 3 is the Annual Grand Lodge of Maryland
Harvest Home Day. Sure would be nice to have a
large turnout of nobles to represent our Shrine!
• Nov. 7 is the Tall Cedars – Baltimore Forest No.
45 Annual Pancake Day in support of Muscular
Dystrophy. The event is from 8 a.m. until noon and
is only $5!
The best of everything throughout this coming year to all,
Richard G. “Dick” Feeser,
Chief Ambassador 2011
Blues Band
Noble Andy Anders
President
Hope everyone had a good summer. The band played for
Boumi’s Carnival in June, and all in attendance enjoyed
the music. We are sure everyone who attended MASA
this year was well entertained by the band’s music in the
hospitality room.
If you are interested in having our club play at your
affair, please contact Andy Anders at 410-296-1668.
Harem
Noble William E. Lautenschlager
Director
By the time you read this article the summer will almost be
over. The Boumi Harem is in dire need of new members in
order to survive. At present, our meetings are held on the
second Wednesday of every month. We enjoy a luncheon
at noon and a short meeting after lunch. This arrangement
is because all current members are retired. However, in
the event we would receive new members who are still
employed, we would gladly return to meeting on the second
Thursday of every month in the Harem Room at Boumi
Shrine at 7:30 p.m. Our Dues are $10 per year. If you are
interested, please contact Ted Roux at 410-838-8363 or
William Lautenschlager at 443-469-9586.
Also, please remember our Past Director Dave Clark in
your prayers. Dave is a resident at Geneses Multi-Medical
Center, 7700 York Road, Towson MD 21204. We are sure
he would be delighted and appreciative to receive cards
knowing he is still in everyone’s thoughts.

Cigar Club
If you need a relaxing afternoon,
why not consider joining the next smokeout with the Cigar Club of Boumi? Our next
event will be at the Boumi Pavilion (back parking lot of the
Temple) on Sept. 20 starting at 2 p.m. Not only will we be
firing up the stogies, we will be firing up the cooking grill
as well. Burgers, dogs, corn on the cob, baked beans, salad,
chips, pretzels, desserts, and cold beverages are currently
on the menu. Family members, guests and all aficionados
are most welcome. Since we will be under the pavilion, this
event is rain or shine (no cancellation). The event is $15 per
person; however, you need to bring your own stogies/cigars.
For more information, contact Ernie Palmer, Mark Hartz,
Bill Cotton, Karl Ballwanz or Jeff Baine.

Shriners Hospitals For Children Participates in
World’s First Double Hand Transplant On a Child
Shriners Hospitals for Children joined a
collaborative team of 40 medical experts
from Philadelphia, Pa., to perform the
world’s first bilateral hand transplant
on a child. Earlier this month, surgeons
successfully transplanted donor hands
and forearms onto 8-year-old Zion
Harvey, who at the age of 2 underwent
amputation of his hands and feet
following a serious infection.
Chief of Staff, Scott Kozin, M.D.,
and Dan Zlotolow, M.D., from Shriners
Hospitals for Children—Philadelphia
initially evaluated Zion as a possible
recipient of the first pediatric hand
transplant. Zion, who had previously
received a kidney transplant from
his mother, was already taking antirejection drugs, which made him a
strong candidate for this procedure.
“This historic case demonstrates our
commitment to innovative pediatric
care that truly transforms the life of
a child,” said Jerry Gantt, Chairman
of the Board of Directors for Shriners
Hospitals for Children. “Our mission is
to help children achieve their dreams.
Giving Zion the opportunity to one
day climb monkey bars and throw a
football is just another way we send
Love to the Rescue.”
To perform this complex procedure,
Shriners Hospitals for Children
partnered with Children’s Hospital
of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine and
Gift of Life. Drs. Kozin and Zlotolow
formed part of a 40-person team
during the nearly 11-hour procedure
to attach donor hands and forearms to
Zion. Four teams of doctors worked to
secure first the bones, then the arteries
and veins, muscles, tendons and nerves.
“The collaboration between these
institutions was necessary to assemble
the team and organize the players
to orchestrate such a complex and
demanding procedure that had never
been performed on a child,” stated
Illustrious Sir Wm. Raymond Bosley Jr.

100 Million Dollar Club
Noble James G. Cullison
Chairman
F
or any new or old Shriner reading this column for the
first time, I want to explain to you what the 100 Million
Dollar Club is and remind you that, this month, we will be
celebrating the 93rd anniversary of the opening of the first
Shriners Hospital for Children.
The first Shriners Hospital for Children was opened
on Sept. 16, 1922, in Shreveport, La. Now, there are 22
orthopaedic hospitals and burn institutes: 20 located
throughout the United States, including Hawaii, and one
each in Canada and Mexico.
Although each noble contributes annually as part of his
dues, it became apparent that with the increased volume of
children being treated and the increasing cost of treatment,
an additional source of revenue was necessary. On Jan. 1,
1972, the Imperial Council established the 100 Million
Dollar Club to raise funds for a permanent endowment fund
for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The two primary ways to contribute to this fund include:
1. A bequest to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in
your will.
2. A cash donation to the fund during your lifetime.
This contribution can be made as often as you wish,
and the only criteria is that it must be in the amount
of at least $100.
The future of the Shriners Hospitals is dependent on this
100 Million Dollar Fund, and the fund is dependent upon
you. Please make your contribute when and as often as you
can.

In Memoriam
“There was a friend whose heart was good. He walked with men and understood. His was
a voice that spoke to cheer, and felt like music on the ear. His was a smile men loved to see.
His was a hand that asked no fee for friendliness or kindness done. And now that he has
journeyed on, his is a fame that never ends—He leaves behind countless friends.”
