From the ceramic cartridges that bring GROHE SilkMove®
technology to our single-lever faucets to GROHE Ecojoy™
technology, which delivers fast and accurate temperature
control to our thermostats, our products are designed to
last and to bring comfort and enjoyment to the user.
As with any industry, there is a prescribed set of standards
that our products must meet. The GROHE Life-testing Centre
performs a number of tests to ensure that our fittings
exceed these requirements. Instead of the 90,000 temperature changes required by ISO 9001, GROHE faucets must
complete twice as many cycles – equivalent to 20 years of
use – before being approved for mass production. Prior to
delivery, real-life simulation checks are performed on every
single product using water or – should this not be recommendable for reasons of drinking water hygiene – compressed air.
Our products are designed to give years of trouble-free
performance, therefore even the smallest details are
important to us – after 20 years of daily use, the coloured
indicators for the hot and cold water supplies on our faucets
are still as clear as the day the fitting was purchased. After

At Grohe we believe even the most extensive testing
methods and the toughest quality requirements are not
enough. Grohe continually challenges its achievements in
product performance, technology and quality against our
leading competitors by commissioning external comparison
tests from acknowledged test institutes like TÜV SÜD or
LGA, Germany.
GROHE SilkMove® is the clear test winner
In a large-scale endurance test for single-lever mixers,
Germany’s TÜV SÜD examined the mechanical wear of
products from nine renowned international manufacturers.
The test included subjecting the faucet levers to a defined
number of movements to simulate 20 years of use in a
multi-person household. In accordance with standards
DIN EN 817 and NF 077, they underwent 70,000 cycles
consisting of 210,000 open/close operations and
140,000 hot/cold operations. The result: GROHE is the
clear test winner. This impressive performance is due to
the high-quality cartridges used for all GROHE single-lever
mixers and GROHE SilkMove® technology.

GROHE DreamSpray® technology is a winning formula
of quality and innovation that creates optimal even water
distribution for an unparalleled showering experience. With

GROHE Rapid SL triumphs with fastest installation time
In a practical installation test conducted by REFA-Bundesverband, Germany, GROHE Rapid SL prevailed against products
from five major competitors. The GROHE Rapid SL with the
unique GROHE QuickFix technology, proved to be the fastest
to install. Furthermore thanks to the easy installation

in the 1930’s
Karl Amendt in 2001
For decades the architectural significance of Haus Heusgen remained
a well-kept secret. Until recently,
when its current owner, architect Karl
Amendt, revealed the iconic status
of the building.
Built in the 1930s, Haus Heusgen
was designed by architect Ludwig
Mies van der Rohe for the Huesgen
family of textile industrialists. Following
the death of the industrialist’s son,
Amendt purchased the house and
decided to give it a complete overhaul,
before opening it to the public.
“To me, it was very important to
renovate Haus Heusgen in the sense
of Mies van der Rohe. We were able
to recondition a lot of the original
items; however, I had to replace the
bathroom fittings,” explains Amendt.
“The Atrio two-handle mixer from
GROHE fits in perfectly. It reflects the
essential design elements of
Bauhaus architecture, as if it had
been designed especially for this
ambience.”
