lumox®
Film-based cell culture system
The lumox® cell culture products stand out for their ultra-thin, gas-permeable film base. As a result of the special film
base design, lumox® products show a very low autofluorescence and a high transparency for exceptionally good
microscopy behaviour.
The range of applications of the lumox® products extends from tissue cultures to automated analysis of fluorescencebased cell assays for active substance testing.

Optical properties
Low autofluorescence and high light transmission
®
Compared to standard polystyrene bases, the lumox® film
base shows a lower autofluorescence (Fig. 1) and has a
higher light transmission (Fig. 2) than polystyrene or glass
bases.
The low autofluorescence of the lumox film and the
good light transmission enable a consistently high
sensitivity for assays, imaging and reader techniques.

Double fluorescence staining of endothelial cells
The superior chemical resistance of the lumox® film enables
a multitude of fixation and staining steps without impairing
its low autofluorescence. In double fluorescence staining
of human endothelial cells, endothelial cell markers,
e.g. Willebrand factor and CD31, are shown clearly and
unaffected by additional signals.

Cells simply grow better
The gas-permeable quality of the lumox® film base provides a range of advantages. Cells grow directly at the border
between the gaseous and liquid phase where the culture medium cannot function as a diffusion barrier. While the cells
are directly supplied with oxygen, metabolic waste products like CO2 can simultaneously escape. Exceptionally short
diffusion paths ensure an optimal gas exchange.

Tissue culture dish for parallel analyses
In quadriPERM® cells for cultivation can be easily and
quickly supplied with fresh medium, and the particular
cell growth can be microscopically analysed.
The rectangular, compartmentalized cell culture dish is
designed to accommodate four DIN slides (26 x 76mm).
Applications
quadriPERM® is especially suited for in-situ preparation
of chromosomes by cytogenetic analyses, e.g.
replication studies, immunofluorescence tests (FISH),
and cytoskeleton staining.
The four compartments of identical size enable
parallel cell cultivation under identical conditions.
While suspension cells can be cultivated directly in
the tissue culture dish, adherent cells are cultivated in
combination with coated or non coated slides.
In quadriPERM® the cells can be fixed, stained and
tagged immunohistologically. Accordingly, the cells
can be used for all molecular, genetic and immunological
detection methods.
