Watch the process of a colorful sky painting, as it comes to life through the beautiful medium of pastel. Boulder painter Astrid Paustian works in many different mediums. She started painting in pastel about 14 years ago “ I initially tried pastels to enhance and correct my watercolor paintings. I was immediately fascinated by the intensity of the colors and the fast, direct, application. Pastel is my favorite medium to create vibrant skies and clouds”. Astrid’s paintings have won many awards. They can be found in private and corporate collections throughout Colorado and Europe. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado. Her work can be seen on her web site at www.astridpaustian.com; First Fridays during NoBo Art Walk; and throughout the year at the Art Center of Estes Park www.artcenterofestes.com Astrid teaches Pastel painting through Open Arts Boulder, and privately at her home studio.
