There were 26 members and 2 guests attending this month's meeting.
After the meeting, we drew our cards for all of the fun runs and I hope we
all had a good time participating in them. At our next meeting, the winners
of our chapter fun runs will be announced. The MAD prize winners will be
announced at the Winter Warm-Up and we will receive the winning prizes
from the" Meet the Chapter's" through the mail if any of our chapter wins
win.

Before you know it, the snow will be flying and we will be hoping for a quick
spring. We will need some suggestions for things to do later when the
weather turns cold. I hope we can have some game nights this year. I hope
several people will volunteer to host one.
Thanks to those who volunteered to fill the openings in the Chapter staff.
I hope the transitions go smoothly for everyone.
This year we are going to go out for our Christmas dinner and then to the
Oreana firehouse for gift exchanging and games. This should make the
evening more enjoyable for all and give more time for everyone to socialize.
Let me know if you think we should do a chili dump this year and if you are
willing to help set it up. There have been several people from other chapters
ask about it after not doing it last year.

Leftover Turkey Casserole
3 C diced cooked turkey
2 C prepared dressing or stuffing
1 C cooked vegetables, such as corn or green bean casserole
1 C prepared turkey gravy
2 C mashed potatoes
4 T butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Press the leftover dressing or stuffing into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
Top with the vegetables, turkey, gravy, and mashed potatoes.
Place pats of butter over the mashed potatoes.
Bake for 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
Serve hot!

I liked this so much that I am including it again this year.
We are so blessed that we sometimes forget….
In this hectic life crammed with schedules, appointments, and to-do lists, Thanksgiving
arrives as a welcome break. Sure, you could convert your Thanksgiving celebration into
another item on your to-do list, but I like to look forward to meeting up with old friends
and family members.
As a part of the Thanksgiving tradition, I like to stick to the traditional fare; it is one of the
rare occasions that we get to pass on our heritage to the younger generation.
What I like most about Thanksgiving is that you get to spend time with your loved ones.
Even though we stay in touch constantly through emails, chats, and messages, modern
telecommunication can never replace personal interaction. The warmth that you receive in
a dear one's hug, or kiss, cannot compare with e-cards and animated flowers. That makes
Thanksgiving an occasion to escape the technology bubble and connect in a physical realm.

Everybody looks forward to the Thanksgiving feast. The turkey, the pies, and the celebration.
However, Thanksgiving is incomplete without a moment of reflection. Spare a moment, and
say a tiny prayer of gratitude for life's little blessings. For, it is these little blessings that enrich
our life. And don’t forget to include our sons and daughters in the military that can’t be
home during the holidays.

Re: Winter Storage
Location -- Store away from windows. Ultraviolet light can fade your paint and plastics. Direct Sunlight can raise the
temperature of the storage area which will promote corrosion when the Sun goes down.
Oil -- Change your oil. Byproducts of combustion produce acids in the oil that can harm the inner metal surfaces.
Fuel -- Add fuel stabilizer and run motor long enough to get stabilizer through the engine. Fill the tank up to the
bottom of the neck of the tank. This leaves room for expansion.
Check all Fluid levels -- Check antifreeze for proper mix. Check Brake Fluid. Brake Fluid is hygroscopic. This means it
absorbs moisture and can cause corrosion in your brake system. Check your owners manual on service intervals.
Spark Plugs -- for long term storage, you can consider fogging the cylinders. Follow directions.
Battery -- Remove, charge, and keep from freezing. Most motorcycles have a small drain on the battery even with
the key off. A discharged battery will sulfate and no longer be able to charge. Consider a Battery Tender if you are
going to leave the battery in the bike.
Surface Preparation -- Wash and Wax the bike. Wax will act as a barrier against rust and moisture. Consider spraying WD-40 on metal surfaces. A light coating will protect from corrosion as well.
Exhaust and Mufflers -- they rust fast when not used. Spray a light oil like WD-40 into the muffler ends and drain
holes. Stuff a Wal-Mart plastic sack into each muffler, then cover each muffler with a plastic bag to keep moisture
off.
Tires -- Several tire manufactures suggest increasing tire pressure by 25% before storage. Put a non wicking barrier
between your tires and the floor. Keep away from direct sunlight. Don’t store your bike by electric motors or other
ozone generating sources. Move the vehicle at least every 3 months to prevent Ozone Cracking in the tire bulge
area, as well as to prevent flat spots.
Cover -- use a good specially designed motorcycle cover that breathes. A plastic tarp will trap moisture and cause
rust and mildew.
Jackets, Helmets, and other gear -- now is a good time to clean.
