About
S
ince the inception of our first project in Costa Rica in 1994, our principal mission has been
to promote environmental awareness while conserving endangered national resources through
innovative educational experiences in order to create a world-class sustainable- tourism experience.
It all began with the idea to create a tram which traversed the Rainforest and it’s treetops with
minimal impact on the environment which subsequently led to the first tram in Costa Rica as well
as the founding and building of three other parks.
Locations of our Parks:
1. Costa Rica Atlantic: Opened in 1995 the park protects 1200 acres of rainforest and boarders
with the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Home of the first aerial tram in Costa Rica and recently
named by National Geographic a top 10 adventure trip. http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/
travel/photos-top-10-adventure-trips.
2. Costa Rica Pacific: Operational in 2003, this 222 –acre ecotourism park offers visitors the
opportunity to explore the Pacific tropical rainforest while enjoying panoramic views of the
Pacific Ocean. Located just outside Jaco Beach and a few minutes from Carara National Park.
3. Mystic Mountain Jamaica: Home of the famous bobsled attraction the park is located in Ocho
Rios on 100 acres of the most pristine untouched land in the northern part of Jamaica. Opened
in 2008.
4. St. Lucia near Pt. Castries: The Park is located 2000 ft. above sea level and approximately 30
minutes from Pt. Castries. Opened in 2006.
5. Panama Excursions DMC: founded in 1996 and acquired by Rainforest Adventures in 2011.
provides traditional packages for individual groups and incentives. Our tailored packages and

Brief Description
The Rain Forest Encounter is a themed visit to our Rain Forest Aerial Trams, we have combined,
fine artistic presentations, unique local appeal, wild nature and great cuisine to create the most
memorable and ultimate experience in the Rain Forest. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness
nature in all its splendor and majesty, share with our community school children, look into their
dreams and learn about challenging conservation projects sponsored by our foundation, and live
the new expressions of live dance and music.
The Event
Welcome Meeting with Future Generations
Our visitors will be welcomed
by our professional and
friendly naturalist Guides at
our main Park’s
Gate. Appropriate facilities
are available for a quick
stop.
Meanwhile
our
welcome committee formed
by our neighbor community
school children wearing
their school uniforms will
break the silence and with
enthusiastic
excitement
will get ready to meet the
visitors. During their short
presentation they will read
a small piece of poetry in
English while guests pay
very close attention to their
words.
11
Rainforest Adventures - Costa Rica
Sight Seeing
Once the welcome meeting is over, the visitors will be escorted to the awaiting transportation, to
start the sight seeing tour. In this enhanced visit of the Rain Forest Aerial Trams, here knowledgeable
and expert guides who will explain in detail interesting aspects of our wonderful Rain Forest will
lecture your guests.
Meet Mother Nature
At our point of view located on top of one of our spectacular valley in the Atlantic or our Manicured
Gardens in the Pacific, our storyteller will perform as Mother Nature with inspiring words for
the visitors. At the same time a unique performance starts inspired on the “awakening” of the
rainforest. During the performance the artists are incorporated into the woods as they unveil the
different animal & insect characters, which cannot be easily recognized inside the deep vegetation
until they start to break in with modern dance and artistic movements.
Later our visitors will enjoy the ride along well-groomed pathways to our main visitors center.
Rain Forest Signature Ride
Our Gondola Naturalist Guides will greet guests at the boarding station and participate with
them in our exciting signature ride. At this moment, tropical fruit cold K-bobs will be passed by
attentive waiters. Our ride is an ecstasy of the worlds most researched nature wonders, where the
incredible views of the tropical rainforest will show every layer possible: from the ground level get
a close glimpse of the creeks and spring waterfalls. At the mid level the immense tree branches,
bird nests and exotic orchids and bromeliads. At the Canopy or higher level, larger bird species,
fruits and blossoms. Maybe the most incredible part of the visit will be when the Gondola reaches
one of the higher elevations. Form this summit; visitors witness the grandeur and magnificence
of the pristine Tropical Rain Forest, the huge centennial trees and perfect balance encountered in
nature. During the 1-hour ride guests will be lectured in interesting facts and information of the
plant and animal species observed. When the tram reaches its half way, it will stop briefly in order
to allow our guests observe in calm the beauty surrounding them. White gloved waiters will hand
out refreshing non-alcoholic cocktails. Guests will stay at the gondola during the length of this
stop, since this excursion ahead still has many surprises to unveil.

Rainforest Adventures - Costa Rica
Butterflies & Raindrops Luncheon or Dinner
Upon arrival at the boarding station,
guests will be invited to join the Rain Forest
Restaurant, which will be decorated with
tropical flower arrangements on the tables.
A classical string quartet will play in the
background as participants enjoy a Deluxe
Buffet. Once dessert is served, guests will be
surprised by the “Butterflies and Raindrops”
show. This is a surprising dance and theater
presentation where our storyteller will
enthrall the group as she emerges from a
nest, our dancers perform a simulation of the
first steps and movements of the butterfly,
one of our park’s cherished treasures. This
magical tale, that evokes the myth when
humans where converted into butterflies, is illustrated by our performers dancing in the dinning
area with rare butterfly costumes. At the end or the show, the storyteller liberates live butterflies
free in the forest, while our performers distribute among your guests live butterflies. Each person
will make a wish, blow life onto the butterfly and release it into the Rain Forest.
Hasta la Vista
In order to make your guests’ experience in the rainforest and our peaceful country even more
memorable, our school children will give each visitor a small token to keep as a memento for this
Rain Forest Encounter, latter the will say goodbye while waving small Costa Rican flags.
Entertainers
Our group of actors and classically trained dancers will specially perform for the group. They are
wearing costumes inspired in the rainforest and will go together with the group in the course of
their visit, including the lunch (or dinner) period presenting different mini-shows

Social & Cultural Programs
Apostolic work is not easy although very gratifying; therefore, let me
tell about the children’s home located in the Old Quarter of the City
of Panama. It is really a very beautiful program that looks to promote
continuous education to children with serious family problems. The
school consists of over 100 students from kindergarten to twelfth grade
although more than a school it is a “home” a place where children can
stay out of the street of their deprived neighborhoods which currently
are suffering from various social problems.
It is not easy to work in this area, as children due to their different
experiences are aggressive and avoid affection as they try to deal with
the bad memories they have dealt with in their short period of life.
Therefore, in order to help children heal their wounds, one of the sisters
utilizes musical techniques allowing them escape from their everyday
problems.
Among these students are 32 indigenous children who live at this school who want to continue
their education although their villages are in very remote areas making it difficult to “commute” to
the City to carry on with a “higher” education.
Panama’s Seven Living Indian Cultures
One of the most popular tours is visits to the villages of Panama’s seven living Indian cultures. The
tribes make their home on end of the Isthmus to the other – from the rainforests of the Darien
jungle, to the Highlands of West Panama, to the Caribbean island of San Blas Archipelago.
Embera and Wounaan Tribes
The Embera & Wounaan Indians live in the Darien jungle in East
Panama. A day tour from Panama City to one of their riverside
villages, takes you in motorized canoe along a jungle river, the
only “roads” in the jungle. Embera women are bare-breasted,
wear colorful cotton print skirts, paint their face & body and
wear decorative coin necklaces and flowers in their hair. The
men wear only a loin cloth and earn their living primarily by
fishing and hunting. Visitors to their villages can watch the
women weave intricate baskets made from palm leaves and
dyed with natural dyes from jungle plants and can request an
authentic body painting for themselves, also from natural dyes.
You will share a meal, see a tribal dance and listen to a talk
about their way of life from their indigenous medicines to their
marriage customs.

Kuna Indians
The fiercely independent Kuna Indians of the San Blas islands in Panama’s Caribbean live in
thatched cabins roofed with palm leaves. Tours to the San Blas offer the double attraction of
beautiful island scenery and the opportunity to study a living Indian culture. The Kunas have a self
governing people and have the strongest social structure and belief system of all Panama’s Indian
tribes. They make their living selling coconuts from the thousands of coconut palms that dot their
islands and from their handicrafts. Kuna women make Panama’s most famous handicrafts, the
mola: reverse stitch embroidery of colorful tropical figures. During your Kuna village visit you can
see the molas being made and buy them from the artisans themselves.
Both authentic tours take you to their actual villages where the Indians will teach you about their
way of life, customs and beliefs, perform ceremonial dances and share their food. This will be one
of your most unforgettable travel experiences. More than a tour, this is a journey into the lives
of two diverse and complex Indigenous cultures that dwell in Panama’s remote areas where they
have been able to maintain their traditions and lifestyle as it was before the Spaniards colonized
the region.
Your host will prepare you for the cultural feast you are about to experience by sharing the history
and customs of both Indigenous groups; Embera Indians who are known as The Keepers of the
Rainforest & San Blas Kuna Indians who are known for their Molas - Artwork which are among the
most sought after.
In each Village, the Chief will welcome you with hospitality traditional and unique to each group.
A series of dances have been arranged to add to this cultural exchange. Feel free to wonder the
village, ask questions or interact with these quiet people. Please remember that we are guests
in their home and a good measure of common sense and sensitivity towards their privacy is
appreciated.
The men and woman are spectacular craftsmen have produced some beautiful items, which will
be available for purchase as souvenirs or keepsakes of this unique experience.
All too soon, it is time to return to your century, where the bliss and tranquility of older days has
been all but forgotten.

Restaurants
Don’t plan on losing weight in Panama City. There are simply too many good restaurants, and
a cuisine selection that pretty much spans the globe, from Chinese and Italian to Lebanese and
Panamanian. Panama has a rich history and culture, from its several indigenous tribes to its current
fusion of races and traditions from all over the world. The ethnic variety of Panama is ever visible
in its capital. Panama City, which grew because of the country’s importance as a trade centre, the
building of the trans-continental Railroad and the Panama Canal.
Frommer’s Review on the following venues:
Beirut: Middle Eastern Cuisine
This is an excellent spot for a couple or a larger group because it serves reasonably priced combo
plates and appetizer platters. Combos come with dozens of little dishes and finger foods such
as hummus, labre, baba ghanouj, fried kibbe, almond rice, and so on, offering a filling meal and
varied sample of flavors. There are also salads, falafel and other sandwiches, and kabobs. Beirut’s
low ceilings, molded banquet seating, and exotic decor makes you feel as if you’ve actually stepped
into Lebanon. Additionally, the food is light and fresh, and powerful air-conditioning provides a
refreshing escape from the hot Panama City streets. The chef, a Lebanese immigrant, patrols the
dining room for quality control, sometimes refilling the occasional guest’s hookah pipe, which is
de rigueur in this establishment.
La Posta: International Cuisine
The crazy popularity of this restaurant with the Panamanian jet-set derives from the lively, 1950s
Havana-style ambience as well as the tasty creations of its American-trained chef. La Posta has a
gorgeous tropical decor, wicker ceiling fans, and plantation-style architecture. Although elegant,
the restaurant does not feel pretentious. During the day, floor-to-ceiling windows separate the
dining area from an outdoor patio (with outdoor seating), filled with vegetation, which provides
for a bright and cheerful lunchtime setting. La Posta is inexpensive for such a lovely atmosphere
but you’ll definitely want to make reservations to avoid a long wait. Try the starters (there are
more than a dozen, so you might consider ordering an assortment of these rather than an entree):
yellow fin-tuna ceviche with capers; mero (a high-quality grouper) carpaccio; or fried polenta with
Gorgonzola and portobello mushrooms. The thin-crust pizzas are delicious, as are the risottos.
Seafood dishes are tasty but simple, such as jumbo prawns with passion fruit and rice pilaf.

Restaurants
Restaurante 1985 & Rincón Suizo: French Cuisine
These are nationally famous chef Willy Diggelmann’s two flagship restaurants, both of which are
reviewed here since they are located in the same building, a rather incongruous Swiss-alpine-style
chalet. Restaurante 1985, widely regarded as one of the best, and most expensive, in the city, is
where Panamanians go for a special meal. The fare is predominantly French, with classic dishes
such as pâté, escargot, and coquilles St.- Jacques, but there are also German touches such as
Wiener schnitzel. The standout at 1985 is the tender veal cutlet in morel mushroom sauce, but the
fresh catch of the day, lobster, calamari and scallop stew, and filet mignon in red-wine sauce are
divine, too. There is also an extensive gourmet vegetarian menu. There is lighter fare, but you’ll be
tempted by many of the creamier, calorie-packed meals, which make up nearly half the menu. For
dessert, don’t miss the guanábana (a very sweet fruit with a rough green peel and a soft, chewy
white inside) mousse. The ambience is country French.
Upstairs is Rincón Suizo, a slightly less-expensive place that pays homage to Switzerland; its
waitresses wear dirndls and there’s a cozy ambience with checkered tablecloths and soft light.
Traditional dishes such as raclette, fondue, goulash, and bratwurst are the mainstays here, as well
as rabbit in red wine and cordon bleu. Like 1985, Rincón Suizo is heavy on sauces, but there are
also fresh salads and diet-friendly grilled fish. Both restaurants feature an outstanding selection
of wine.
Madame Chang: Chinese Cuisine
Some of the best Chinese food found outside China is here in Panama, and Madame Chang is where
you come to savor it. Few restaurants serve a more delectable Peking duck, but there are also the
jumbo shrimp a la sal, the gingery San Blas crab, the prawn rolls, and clams in black-bean sauce
-- really, everything on the menu is worth recommending. The proprietor, Siu Mee Chang, and her
daughter Yolanda have merged the old with the new: The elegant ambience is more smart-casual
than button-up conservative, and the cuisine blends traditional recipes from all Chinese provinces,
but with a contemporary touch. Madame Chang also shakes up killer martinis.
Martín Fierro: Steak/Chops Cuisine
Named after Argentina’s epic literary hero, a gaucho who wandered the pampa, this restaurant,
accordingly, serves thick slabs of beef and other meats that would satisfy a gaucho or any weary
traveler who’s had a hard day and longs for a hearty, satisfying meal. Martín Fierro features meats
cut Argentine-style, but the price differs between domestic meat and that imported from the U.S.
You’ll find pastas and fish on the menu, but if you’re not a carnivore there’s really no reason to
eat here. (They boast about their salad bar, but it’s insubstantial and won’t do much more than
decorate your plate.) Martín Fierro strives to be an elegant eating establishment, but the bright
lights and decor keep it decidedly casual.

Restaurants
Manolo Caracol: Spanish/Portuguese Cuisine
Manolo, the Spanish chef, professes “cooking with love,” and his adventurous and creative daily
menu embraces fresh, in-season products he finds every morning in the local market. There’s no
ordering here customers sit back and wait for a vibrantly composed parade of up to 12 courses
to be slowly ushered to their table. A day’s offering might include sole carpaccio, green mango
ceviche, pork loin with pineapple, and gingery prawns. Meals range from delicious to mediocre
depending on the menu and who’s cooking, and service can be regular too shabby, accounting for
the mixed reviews among customers. However, Manolo Caracol’s modern, fixed-menu concept
and the fact that it’s been around for a while in Casco Viejo, where restaurants open and close
with frequency, is a testament to its popularity among Panamanians and tourists alike. The dining
area is within an antique colonial building, and is casual and warm, with wood tables, white stucco
walls, and plenty of religious artifacts and local art.
Market: Steak/Chops Cuisine
Owner David Henessy’s second Panama City restaurant (the first being La Posta), Market has made
a place for itself as the place to dine in the city, filling up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner almost
every day. Essentially, Market is an up-market burger joint with an ingredients-based menu.
Try the tasty pork chops, grown locally by Chiriquí highlands farmers or the popular “sliders,”
miniature, delicious hamburgers. But whatever you decide to dine on, you probably won’t be
disappointed. The restaurant has a surprisingly good selection of delicious salads, a rarity in
Panamanian restaurants, and unlike most restaurants of its caliber, Market opens for breakfast
Monday through Friday and brunch on Sunday. The restaurant is divided into two distinct areas:
the main room is reminiscent of an upscale market deli (hence the name) boasting a sleek bar,
contemporary decor, and a cool cement floor. The second floor, known as the Zebra Room, is airy
and fresh, and perfect for those looking for a bit more privacy.
Ten Bistro: French Cuisine
This trendy, eclectic bistro in the ground floor of the Hotel De Ville is owned by Chef Fabién Migny,
one of the founders of Eurasia. Ten’s menu is similar to Eurasia’s in its blending of French and
Asian traditions, but the decor is something completely different. The rounded white walls, orange
lights, abundant candles, and bird-of-paradise flowers suspended over the tables in giant test
tubes, together with the beat of the house music, provide a very 21st-century ambience. You may
start with saffron crab soup in a puff pastry, or dip some prawn spring rolls into a tropical sauce.
The main fare ranges from grouper poached in coconut milk to beef tenderloin Indochine with
Chinese mushrooms and mustard leaves, served with potato tempura. The name refers to the fact
that many main courses cost just $10, though some dishes are considerably more expensive. The
desserts are decadent, so be sure to save room.

Eurasia: Chinese Cuisine
One of the city’s most attractive restaurants, Eurasia has several dining rooms with high ceilings
and walls hung with paintings by Latin American artists. It occupies the second floor of an elegant
former home surrounded by condominium towers and has a small tropical garden in back that
seems a world apart from the traffic of nearby Avenida Balboa. Owners Gloria and Kim Young
offer a soothing ambience and an innovative mix of Asian and French cuisine, with dishes that
range from veal chops in a mushroom sauce to duck in a pineapple-plum sauce. They also have
some enticing seafood creations, such as prawns in a tamarind and coconut sauce, sea bass with
Chinese parsley and pumpkin puree, and grouper in seafood tomato sauce au gratin. You’ll walk
by a well-stocked pastry table laden with yummy cakes as you enter the dining room; they should
inspire you to save room for dessert. Three-course executive lunches are a good deal, include
a glass of wine, and are an excellent excuse to take a break from the heat and hustle of the
surrounding city.
Golden Unicorn: Chinese Cuisine
Hidden on the fourth floor of the Evergreen Building, down the street from the Sheraton Hotel, this
popular spot has a spacious dining room decorated in gold and brown, with walls of windows that
provide views of the ATLAPA Convention Center and the ocean beyond it. A Cantonese restaurant
that serves some Mandarin and Szechuan dishes, the Golden Unicorn is popular with Chinese
families, who gather around its large round tables and order enough dishes to fill the lazy Susan.
The menu is as long as a novella, and is written in Spanish and Chinese, which can be a challenge.
You can’t go wrong with dishes such as robalo al vapor con salsa de frijol negro (steamed snook in a
black bean sauce), pollo salteado con setas (sautéed chicken and seta mushrooms), pato salteado
con piña y jengibre (sautéed duck with pineapple and ginger), langostinos Yau Pau (prawns with
mini vegetables), or spicy Szechuan camarones (shrimp). They also serve dim sum, the traditional
Chinese breakfast, starting at 8 am.
Machu Picchu: Peruvian Cuisine
This popular Peruvian restaurant named after that country’s famous Inca ruins occupies an
unassuming house a short walk from the hotels of El Cangrejo. Its relatively small dining room,
decorated with paintings of Peruvian landscapes and colorful woven tablecloths, is often packed
with Panamanians at night. The food they come for is traditional Peruvian, with a few inventions
such as corvina Hiroshima (sea bass in a shrimp, bell pepper, ginger sauce) and langostinos
gratinados (prawns au gratin). You can’t go wrong with such Peruvian classics as ceviche,ají de
gallina (chicken in a chili-cream sauce), seco de res (Peruvian stewed beef), and sudado de mero
(grouper in a spicy soup). Be careful how you apply the ají hot sauce; it’s practically caustic.

Panama’s most important landmarks, historic National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The buildings´

Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, Russia. The National Theatre of Panama has been host to the
best and most outstanding artists and touring companies of the Americas and Europe gracing
the historic stage with their performances of contemporary dance, theatre and music. Today the
dances will offer a potpourri portraying the most important aspects of the historical shaping of
Panama.
Cocktail Party at Plaza Bolívar, a small plaza surrounded by 19th-century architecture and is one
of the most pleasant places in Casco Viejo, day or night. The plaza gets little road traffic and is
trimmed with cafes and restaurants outfitted with large shade umbrellas and a casual atmosphere.
The focal point of the plaza is a monument to the Venezuelan general Simón Bolívar, the “Liberator
of Latin America”. The Plaza was originally known as the Plaza de San Francisco but in 1883 the
city council devoted the plaza to Bolívar the Liberator, a respected hero throughout Latin America.

CULTURAL LIVING EXPERIENCE

is a unique presentation of Panama’s culture and
history, situated on the outskirts of Panama City.
At Mi Pueblito you can get a first hand glimpse of

complex is comprised of three distinct villages: typical
Panamanian, Antillean, and Indian (Kuna & Embera).
As you enter the complex, on the right-hand side, you
will find the main entrance to the typical Panamanian
village. There are several small gift shops, restaurants,
a Pollera (Panama’s National dress) museum, barbers
shop, as well as numerous chairs, benches and tables.
The Antillean and Indian villages lie on the opposite
side of the complex, or to the left-hand side as you
enter Mi Pueblito. It is just a short walk with the
entrance just off the left side of the roadway. The
Antillean village is based on the Antillean culture that
was brought to Panama during the construction of
the Canal. It too has several small souvenir stores,
eateries, and also a church and open courtyard.
Just behind this village is the Indian village, which is
set deeper in the wooded area of the complex. Here,
numerous traditional style huts have been built to
help illustrate the Indian way of life in Panama with
explanations and examples of the indigenous Indian
culture.
For those that do not have the time to visit Panamas
interior Mi Pueblito provides an attractive and
convenient alternative to view aspects of older,
different lifestyles.

Adventure
Tour Description
The Adrena-line zip line tour is not for the faint of heart. The exciting tour starts innocuously
enough with a short walk through a peaceful part of the tropical rainforest, but that’s as pastoral
as it gets. You get hitched up to a series of cables and zip from platform to platform high up in
the tree canopy. Go out on a limb and take the leap and swing like Tarzan. If your adrenaline isn’t
flowing then, a brisk hike to the next set of platforms will juice things up a bit before your guides
hook you onto the line with descenders so you can rappel safely or with a thrill to base camp. To
refresh your senses and boost your immune system take a zip from freshly cut coconuts. Take
a rest next to the river and sample some local fruits and creole finger food and choose your
complimentary picture of your adventure.

Challenge
Tour Description
Combine the relaxing Aerial Tram ride, with a short and rugged hike and a zip line course high up
in the canopy of the majestic rainforest trees.
A trial zip line at base camp and a short training session prepare the intrepid for the day’s adventure.
The Tranopy Tour begins with a gondola ride into the thick of the Caribbean Oceanic forest past
ancient trees, persistent vines and animated birdlife. At top station disembark for a short hike
on a trail which wends its way through the magnificent mature forest, past some impres-sive
buttress root systems and to the first zip-line platform. Experience the thrill of gliding through the
tree canopy high above the bustle of the city, in the cool verdant air of the forest. Knowledgeable
guides take you through the paces as you zip from platform to platform suspended in the sturdy
trunks of these stoic trees. Hike through the majestic rainforest and join the next zip line course.
Swing across and rappel safely back to base camp.
To refresh your senses and boost your immune system take a zip from freshly cut coconuts. Take
