Learn. The first thing you notice at a New Platinum Conference is the excitement. As soon as the new Platinum IBOs arrive, you can feel the energy. These IBOs have worked hard, and NPC provides recognition for their success and fuel for the next levels of achievement. 6 achievemagazine.com Visiting Amway World Headquarters is a first for those at NPC. It’s a special experience to celebrate accomplishments and to get valuable information that will help new Platinums grow their businesses. Succeed. NEW PLATINUMS GET ENERGIZED AT NPC achievemagazine.com 7 NPC 2016 | Product Experience and Education Sessions Platinums Learn Essentials BEST BUSINESS PRACTICES & PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE ARE A KEY PART OF NPC for Growth The average monthly Gross Income for “active” IBOs was USD $183 (in the U.S.)/CAD $206 (in Canada). Approximately 53% of IBOs in the U.S., and 49% of IBOs in Canada, were “active.” IBOs were considered “active” in months in 2013 when they attempted to make a retail sale, or presented the Amway IBO Compensation Plan, or received bonus money, or attended an Amway or IBO meeting. If someone sustained that level of activity every month for a whole year, their annualized Gross Income would be $2,196 (U.S.)/$2,472 (Canada). Of course, not every IBO chooses to be active every month. “Gross Income” means the amount received from retail sales, minus the cost of goods sold, plus monthly bonuses and cash incentives. It excludes all annual bonuses and cash incentives, and all non-cash awards, which may be significant. There may also be significant business expenses, mostly discretionary, that may be greater in relation to income in the first years of operation. For the purposes of the calculation in Canada, individuals who were IBOs for less than the entire year in 2013 were excluded. Before registering as an Independent Business Owner (IBO) powered by Amway, you should read and understand the AMWAY™ Business Overview Brochure, which contains important information for those interested in becoming IBOs. Following is the approximate percentage of IBOs in North America who achieved the illustrated level of success in the IBO Fiscal Year ending August 31, 2015; New Platinum Conference; 0.2%. 8 achievemagazine.com NPC gives new Platinums the opportunity to meet and talk directly with their Amway National Accounts team and experts from Amway™ product and program lines. They learn tips, ask questions, and see new products, programs, and tools during an expo designed just for them. IBOs also learn about best practices and get resources in educational sessions that help them build strong, sustainable businesses and become the next generation of IBO leaders. At the May NPC, new Platinum Ron Jones could see the benefits of educational sessions right away. “This has certainly given us a better structure and even more tools to make us effective when we goal set with our team,” he said. IBOs are taught by experts during NPC’s Product Experience expo and educational sessions. They gain necessary product knowledge and information to grow healthy businesses. “When we started as IBOs, we were told about this opportunity and that we could get here. Now we’re here and excited we found this road to success.” – Griselda Villatoro achievemagazine.com 9 Powerful Inspirations for Success LEADERS NEW & LEGENDARY SHARE EXPERIENCES AT BUSINESS MEETING New Platinums came to NPC seeking information about how to build productive and successful businesses. And they got answers from IBOs who’ve done just that. During the business meeting on Day 2, IBOs heard the experiences of Emeralds Ainsley and Simone Lewis from Jamaica, who attended NPC just last year. Ainsley and Simone shared their journey: Before becoming Amway IBOs, they led challenging lives in Jamaica, and in just five years worked their way to Platinum in 2015. 10 achievemagazine.com “When we came to NPC last year, it was our first time at World Headquarters. After coming into an environment where people cared about us – and where we were treated like real people the company respected and loved – we immediately started telling our team how well Amway treated us. We learned about goal setting last year, and we started setting those goals before we even got home. Our lives were literally transformed,” Simone told the new Platinums. “When we started we wanted nothing more than to pay our bills, but now it’s about whose life we can change,” said Ainsley. : Business Meeting | NPC 2016 The Lewises’ inspirational example, and the motivational words from a legend of the business, Legacy Diamond Bob Andrews, showed new Platinums the opportunities their Amway™ businesses can provide are real and attainable with a positive approach. (below) Yellow lanyards called attention to the amazing achievements of full-volume Platinums. During the business meeting, all full-volume Platinums stood up to be recognized. “Combine optimism with determination and resilience, and you have a strong foundation and a force of nature that can’t be stopped.” – Bob Andrews, Legacy Diamond and Chairman of the IBOAI® achievemagazine.com 11 12 achievemagazine.com : World Headquarters Tour | NPC 2016 Platinums Get a VIP Welcome Every new Platinum looks forward to the Amway World Headquarters tour at New Platinum Conference. This is their chance to see the organization that supports their businesses. It’s the opportunity to learn about the history and fundamentals of the company and Amway’s commitment to IBOs. World Headquarters Tour Is Amazing The World Headquarters staff gives a warm and impressive welcome. Employees line the entrance and cheer as the new Platinum IBOs walk a red carpet into headquarters. On their tour of Amway manufacturing, research labs, and customer service, the IBOs see firsthand that while they are in business for themselves, they are never by themselves – thousands of Amway employees support them every day. “You know that Amway is an incredible business, but coming here just makes it so much more real.” – Brendan Hammond achievemagazine.com 13 NPC 2016 | XS™ Energy Steampunk Circus A Unique Celebration Just for Platinums EXCITING ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD, & FUN MAKE A GREAT NIGHT At NPC, new Platinums learn from IBO leaders who share tips on how to develop successful businesses and teams. And they get valuable information from Amway experts on how to run and grow their businesses the right way. But socializing with and getting to know fellow new Platinums is also an important part of NPC. So Amway created an amazing celebration to do just that. Amway reserved the Grand Rapids Art Museum for an XS®sponsored party in their honor. The Steampunk Circus–themed event included a VIP dinner of steak, pot roast, or portobello mushrooms served with exotic Peruvian purple mashed potatoes – and XS® Energy Drink mocktails. There was also a unique macaroni and cheese bar, where Platinums could customize their own dinner with a variety of toppings. A beautiful selection of desserts served by circus performers and entertainers topped off the event. The new Platinums were thrilled. 14 achievemagazine.com : Recognition Celebration | NPC 2016 “You Have to Get Here” PLATINUMS ARE HONORED FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS After a day at World Headquarters, it was time for the most special and personal event of NPC: the recognition dinner and celebration. The new Platinums enjoyed an elegant dinner in a beautiful ballroom before each of them walked across the main stage to the cheers of their fellow new Platinums and Amway employees. This is what every new Platinum looks forward to. It’s their special time – the moment they are recognized for their individual success. It will be the first of several memorable events for many, and they all seem to know it’s going to keep getting even better. “This made it all real and worth the hard work, but this is just the beginning. I’ll be back for my Double Diamond Celebration,” said Tyler Wallace. “This made it all real and worth the hard work, but this is just the beginning.” – Tyler Wallace The ceremony was a moving tribute that honored IBOs for their successes and accomplishments. When asked what they’d tell downline IBOs about NPC, many new Platinums said the same thing: “You have to get here.” Gabriela Garcia already knows what she’s going to tell downline IBOs about her NPC experience: “Tienes que vivirlo” (You have to live it). achievemagazine.com 15 NPC 2016 | The Path to Founders Platinum THE PATH TO FOUNDERS PLATINUM T ip s a n d k n o wle dge f r om r i s i ng P l at i nu m-le v e l I BO s who c ont i nue to g r o w. CONFIDENCE, KNOWLEDGE, & PERSISTENCE DRIVE FAST GROWTH The biggest challenge Wilfredo and Alondra Escobar faced when they began their Amway™ business was themselves. They said they had trouble convincing each other to really pursue the opportunity. They came from different countries – Wilfredo from El Salvador and Alondra from Mexico – and were still adjusting to their lives together. “But then we chose to use a system from an Amway Approved Provider, and were able to become a real team, and a better couple, too. That made it easier for us to help others,” Alondra remembered. Once the decision was made, they dove right in, becoming qualified as Platinum in one year and Founders Platinum six months after that. “We just kept qualifying, month after month, until we reached that level,” said Wilfredo. They say the ongoing support they receive from Amway has been critical to their success. “The training we’re able to access on Amway.com has been very important to us, especially for learning about the products we’re selling,” said Alondra. Wilfredo added, “And now our experience gives us confidence in ourselves and helps us encourage our team. If they make some sacrifices and put forth some effort to achieve what they want in the future, they can do it, too.” Wilfredo and Alondra say being persistent has also been key. “If we have an appointment to see someone, whether it’s to present information about the business or talk about the products, we are there,” said Alondra. “But if we don’t have anyone on our agenda for the day,” said Wilfredo, “we go and reach out to new prospects.” They are motivated by the future they want to create for their 2-year-old son, Fredy. “We go out and work hard for him,” said Alondra. “But it’s also about the other families we can introduce to the opportunity, and the hope that, with hard work and effort, they can have this success in their lives as well. We’ve seen the great things that are waiting for us, and we want other families to have those, too.” “We’ve seen the great things that are waiting for us, and we want other families to have those, too.” – Alondra 16 achievemagazine.com CELEBRATE. Keena is quick to offer an example of the benefits of pet therapy. “At a nursing home with Alzheimer’s and dementia residents, there was one lady who never talked. After we visited for a while, she started smiling at me. Then, six months ago, after visiting for over two years, she started talking. The staff said that she only talks on the days the dogs come.” “Bella is laid-back and she does really well with the seniors, while Zoey has more puppy energy, so she’s better with kids.” – Keena Jones The impact of Keena’s work is all the more remarkable considering she didn’t become interested in pet therapy until 2010, after her retirement following 33 years as a corrections officer. “I was looking for something to do to give back to the community, and I saw on Facebook®† a woman who did pet therapy work in Florida using her Great Dane. So I contacted her,” Keena said. After she spent some time socializing Zoey as a puppy and training her as a therapy dog, a local TV station featured Keena’s story on the news. “Right after the interview aired I was contacted by Pet Partners [the leading therapy animal nonprofit in the United States] and they said they would love to have us as part of the group,” Keena recalled. She was also approached by a local nursing home, and they soon had a full schedule of visits all around the area. Thanks to each dog’s unique personality, Keena and her Great Danes are able to help people with a broad range of ages and needs. “Bella is laid-back and she does really well with the seniors, while Zoey has more puppy energy, so she’s better with kids,” she said. But the work doesn’t only benefit others, as her husband, Michael Moore, notes. “It’s been nothing but positive, and it’s helped Keena become more relaxed and self- confident.” For more information, search “Keena and Zoey” on YouTube® to watch two televised interviews. (left) Keena with Bella on the shore of Lake Superior. (upper right) Zoey with Levi Westcomb at the Falling Rock Cafe and Bookstore in Munising, Michigan. Keena takes Zoey to the cafe every month so children can read to her – a practice that’s said to improve a child’s reading skills. †Facebook® is a registered trademark of Facebook, Inc. achievemagazine.com 19 Ready to Empower Partner HIGHLIGHT Helps More Women in Need AN AWARD & A NEW PARTNERSHIP FUEL THE ORGANIZATION’S PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS 20 achievemagazine.com partner highlight: Ready to Empower | NPC 2016 IBO AMANDA READY RECEIVED THE AMWAY 2015 HERO AWARD FOR GENEROSITY AT ACHIEVERS 2015 BECAUSE OF THE LIFECHANGING WORK HER NONPROFIT IS DOING IN AN IMPOVERISHED AREA OF COSTA RICA. Like all other Hero Award winners, Amanda received $10,000 from Amway, which she in turn has used to help more people in need through her organization Ready to Empower (RTE). When she was presented with her award, Amanda told the audience at Achievers, “You have no idea how many women this will help.” Today, she realizes the donation’s full impact. “It gave me hope for the first time in years,” she said. A trained therapist, Amanda works as a consultant to other nonprofits and small businesses, and she donated virtually all of her income to RTE. Now, after the donation, she says, “For the first time in two and half years I can take a minute and really focus on Ready to Empower. It gave me a cushion so that I can concentrate on fundraising.” RTE provides services for impoverished women in the San Ramon area in Costa Rica. It’s a Work for Service (WFS) organization, meaning the women receive job training, health care, and other services in exchange for support programs that address each woman’s particular needs. Urgent help recently came to Vanessa Torres just when she needed it. In Costa Rica, governmental regulations can remove children from a home if conditions are determined to be a health threat. Vanessa’s home had dirt floors. During one rainy season they became mud, which ruined most of her belongings and, worse, created unsanitary conditions that made her family ill. Threatened with losing her children, Vanessa reached out to RTE for funds to pour a concrete floor. Vanessa received those funds and is currently repaying them through its WFS program. RTE provides a variety of programs, including assistance with education, health care, and wellness. But, according to Amanda, the most pressing need is adequate housing. This has led to an exciting new partnership with Habitat for Humanity Costa Rica. > “Habitat for Humanity offers more than just amazing housing support. They remind the women in our programs that they are important, cared for, and not forgotten – because feeling valued is priceless.” – Amanda Ready (above right) Through RTE’s assistance, Vanessa Torres was able to replace her home’s dirt floors, keep her children, and protect her family’s health. achievemagazine.com 21 NPC 2016 | partner highlight: Ready to Empower (left) Amanda’s first meeting with Habitat for Humanity Costa Rica. “My goal is to truly practice what I preach to the women in our programs, which is that they are important and they have to take care of their own needs in order to take care of others.” – Amanda Ready IN MARCH, AMANDA INVITED MARTHA HERNANDÉZ BARRANTES, A PROGRAM MANAGER FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY COSTA RICA, TO TOUR RTE’S FACILITY AND DISCUSS THE AREA’S NEED FOR EMERGENCY HOUSING. “Habitat for Humanity offers more than just amazing housing support,” said Amanda. “They remind the women in our programs that they are important, cared for, and not forgotten – because feeling valued is priceless.” The details of the new partnership are still being finalized, but its benefits should be felt later this year, according to Amanda. “I think if all social support organizations worked together in this way more people would benefit and we would be able to change more lives,” said Martha. “Ready to Empower’s Work for Service program is one we want to ally with because it is changing the mentality of the poorest in our country.” 22 achievemagazine.com Martha added, “The persistence of social, economic, and labor gaps perpetuate the vulnerability and discrimination of women.” Amanda says that’s why RTE also offers a variety of programs that focus on mental health and social services programs. “Whatever their circumstances, these women often create a cycle of poverty and unhealthy living conditions. There is real, therapeutic power in sharing and talking, and our mental health program provides a safe place for that to happen.” Amanda is deeply grateful for the support – financial and otherwise – she’s received from Amway. “Being an IBO has provided me with the opportunity to connect with an amazing group of people who have been advocates for me and RTE,” she said. “My goal is to truly practice what I preach to the women in our programs, which is that they are important and they have to take care of their own needs in order to take care of others.” ■ HERO AWAR DS It’s Time to Nominate Your Hero Every year the Amway community comes together to celebrate the heroic efforts of outstanding IBOs whose selfless acts make a positive impact in the lives of others and help build stronger communities. At the end of her tour of World Headquarters, IBO Maria Martinez said, “What we learned here today empowered us to go and teach others.” Amway tours demonstrate that while IBOs are in business for themselves, they’re never by themselves with the support of thousands of Amway employees. Dreaming big: Miguel and Elvia Rubio are proud of their success and happy with the positive changes Amway has brought to their lives. “A lot of times we think to ourselves, ‘Why didn’t we do this sooner?’” Elvia said. Raj and Manjit Madhar Ontario What they did before: Raj was a truck driver and still is today. Manjit worked in a plastics factory. Dreaming big: Raj and Manjit Madhar’s success is extraordinary. Just 14 years ago, Raj spoke little English and Manjit worked in a plastics factory. “But I had a dream inside of me,” Raj said. “Now I can speak in front of 5,000 people.” They believed from the start that there was real hope for more financial security through their Amway™ business. Their first large check enabled them to pay off all their debt, and Manjit was able to leave her job eight years ago. Raj plans to leave his soon. Both Miguel and Elvia are now able to dedicate themselves full time to their Amway™ business. “It has given us the freedom to decide for ourselves how to manage our time,” said Miguel. Since becoming IBOs, they’ve been able to take their four children to a theme park in Orlando for the first time. “It was a dream come true,” recalled Elvia. They realize that their success depends on motivating others. “If you want to do small things, do them on your own. But if you really want to do great things, you have to do them as a team,” said Miguel. “In this business there is no such thing as luck. There is only education and action.” – Miguel Today, they like to travel with their children – daughter Anmol, 11, and son Arshir, 8 – and they both drive new cars. And soon, the family plans on moving into a large new home. “It’s not like we’re just building a business. We’re introducing other people to healthy brands,” Raj said. Manjit added, “Amway has changed our lives for the better.” “Early on, we realized this was something we could do – there was hope, and we could build on it.” – Manjit R ory and MacKenzie Fulcher Nebraska What they did before: Rory and MacKenzie were marketing consultants and still are today. Dreaming big: Rory and MacKenzie Fulcher’s introduction to the Amway opportunity came when they were in college – he was a business student and MacKenzie was a pre-veterinary medicine major. Both believed in the opportunity from the start. “I was convinced,” said Rory. “I was so excited I couldn’t sleep!” Today, their success allows them to give money and time to their church and other organizations they care about. And their close family now includes the community they’ve built with their Amway team. “Our oldest daughter loves her ‘big friends,’ as she calls them,” said Rory laughing. Soon their Amway™ business may allow the Fulchers to leave their traditional jobs. “This business has replaced our daytime income many times over,” said MacKenzie. “We are excited to live life on our terms and be 100% in control of both time and money.” “I was convinced the first night that I saw the Amway IBO Compensation Plan.” – Rory The average monthly Gross Income for “active” IBOs was USD $183 (in the U.S.)/CAD $206 (in Canada). We feel unburdened and we understand each other better as a couple,” said Gloria. “The most rewarding thing is touching other families’ lives and watching them grow and improve.” – Miguel Dreaming big: All it took was a check for $6.55 to make Fernando and Carla Zavala realize that the Amway opportunity offered them hope for a better life. “We were having a rough time financially,” said Fernando. “All we did was work to pay the bills.” Ivan and Angeles Cuevas Tennessee What they did before: Ivan was a housepainter, and Angeles was a homemaker. Dreaming big: Ivan and Angeles Cuevas credit Amway for their success and for life changes that energized them in ways they never thought possible. Ivan was convinced about the opportunity from the start, but it took Angeles a while. “I thought ‘Amway is really changing him,’” she remembered, “so I dove into the business, too.” But that first check motivated them. Now freed from working for others, Fernando and Carla value what they are able to do for others. “Through Amway we’ve seen couples and families really become closer,” said Fernando. And Carla added, “People with low self-esteem can now look others in the eye because they know that they are winners.” “The secret to our success is listening and focusing on others, and helping them achieve their goals. Our success comes after that.” – Fernando Building their business also improved their relationship. “Now we are a better couple because we are always together, focused on our goals,” said Ivan. They agree wholeheartedly on what Amway has done for their lives, but Angeles said it best. “Amway opened a lot of dreams for us. Any goal we set, we can achieve.” “We give people hope and that’s what keeps us going.” – Angeles The average monthly Gross Income for “active” IBOs was USD $183 (in the U.S.)/CAD $206 (in Canada). Dreaming big: José Manuel Valadez describes life before he and his wife Lupita were introduced to Amway as “stuck in a rut.” But they saw the opportunity offered a better future and began building their business full time immediately. Now they describe their lives as completely changed, with less stress, more time with their children, and best of all, said José Manuel, “We are able to offer the opportunity to others, so they can build a business and a better future for their families.” Pedro and Mireya Mejía Wisconsin What they did before: Pedro installed windows, and Mireya was a hotel housekeeper who also cleaned houses on the side. Dreaming big: A new friendship led to Pedro and Mireya Mejía’s introduction to the Amway opportunity. Now they enjoy the time their success allows them to spend with their children. “When we started educating ourselves for the business, we realized that it could also teach us how to be better parents,” said Mireya, who went on to explain, “Changing in order to be successful in the business starts with changing at home.” The Valadezes’ goal is Diamond, and they know how they’ll get there: “By having a good attitude, knowing how to form relationships with people, and most important, by being completely honest at all times with the team, other IBOs, and customers,” said José Manuel. “We control how we spend our time in order to build the business and an even better future for our family.” – José Manuel They emphasize that the business is driven by Amway™ products. Pedro says that growth is based on building a balanced business of using products, getting to know them, selling them to customers, and sponsoring others to do the same. “We have to keep sharing the opportunity and blessing the other IBOs and business leaders who taught us how to get closer to other people,” Mireya said. “Thanks to this business I have been able to become stronger as a human being.” – Pedro Juan Carlos and Imelda Lopez Utah What they did before: Juan Carlos worked in construction, and Imelda worked in a bakery, a Chinese restaurant, and a food distribution warehouse. Dreaming big: Juan Carlos and Imelda Lopez spent little time together, living paycheck to paycheck, and, as Juan Carlos describes it, “waiting for the weekend to come.” But when Imelda’s co-worker introduced them to the Amway opportunity, they realized they could improve their finances and family life. Today they are more financially stable and able to spend their time as they choose, balancing time spent building their business with that spent having fun with their children, Vanessa, 9, and Carlitos, 5. “We decide for ourselves what we do,” said Juan Carlos. They are also loyal to Amway™ products and their team. “When a new IBO comes to our house, they see an Amway house,” said Imelda. Juan Carlos added, “Now we see ‘work’ as helping someone reach a new pin level. Our job is to inspire others and help them realize that they can do it too.” “Now we see ‘work’ as helping someone reach a new pin level. California What they did before: Andy was a contractor, and Angela owned a day-care center. Dreaming big: Luis Ruiz Ortiz had a good job. “But something in me told me that I can do something more,” he said. “I realized that while the opportunity offered me the hope of a better lifestyle, for others who were less fortunate, it offered a real lifeline.” Luis sees team members achieving Platinum as rewarding as his own success, and his drive to help others is stronger than ever. “Now I can live life to the fullest. I don’t have to run to a traditional job every morning. But I still have a commitment to help more people achieve real freedom and make their own dreams come true,” he said. While Luis enjoys reading and exercise during his free time, he’s intent on reaching Diamond and, eventually, Crown Ambassador. But the only way to do that, he says, is to continue doing what has brought him to Emerald. “I still spend the majority of my spare time sharing this wonderful opportunity with more people, so they can benefit from it, just like I did.” – Luis | Dreaming big: Andy Wu installed an eSpring® UV Water Purifier for a friend and, impressed by the product, asked about it. Today they are driven to give others hope. Efraín and Jarumi emphasize to their team that education is what the business is all about. “It takes more than just filling out an application. Dreaming big: Months after Tim Fenelus lost his job, he and his wife, Yendi Gerve, decided to build their Amway™ business full time in February 2013. By June, they had already become Silver Producers. “We live with the excitement of chasing our dreams,” said Tim. “What we believe, we can achieve.” Javier Frias Amway has given them freedom to spend more time with their 5-year-old daughter, Yakira Winonah, and Yendi is expecting their second child soon. California What he did before: Javier worked in construction. Dreaming big: Personal and financial setbacks left Javier Frias, as he describes it, “without hope.” Impressed by the changes in his sister’s life after she had become an IBO, his own introduction to the Amway opportunity provided a sense of direction. He became driven. Now Javier uses his time as he decides and enjoys strong relationships with his children – all of them IBOs. In fact, one daughter’s Platinum qualification resulted in Javier reaching Emerald. He believes that as long as they work together, the Amway opportunity can change the lives of many. “There are a lot of people out there who deserve to be as happy as I am now,” he said. They say the Fast Track Incentive Program has been useful in training new IBOs, and their own use of Amway™ products like Nutrilite® Garlic Heart Care and the Artistry® Men Skincare System has made them confident to recommend and sell them to others. “We’ve found that building this business is really about helping other people stand on their own two feet,” said Tim. “It’s about making them believe in themselves.” “We live with the excitement of chasing our dreams. What we believe, we can achieve.” – Tim “Amway has given me the freedom to become someone else’s hope.” Alfredo and Digna Pacheco Dominican Republic What they did before: Alfredo and Digna were politicians and still are today. Dreaming big: Alfredo and Digna Pacheco learned about the Amway opportunity and teamwork when they left their first meeting. Their car battery was dead, and the IBOs attending the meeting helped fix it. “That’s when we realized that solidarity is common practice in Amway,” said Alfredo. “And that’s when we made up our minds to join.” They learned the Plan fast and put in a great deal of effort right away, becoming Silver Producers in three months and Platinum five months later. Amway has had an impact on how they perform their jobs as politicians. “Now we exercise leadership in a whole new way,” said Alfredo. “Everyone participates. Incorporating that into other areas of our lives has led to great success.” They are constantly busy but would have it no other way. “Meetings with our team feel like family gatherings. We relax and laugh together, all while building the business,” said Digna. – Javier “The business can transform us as people, and if we allow that to happen, life is going to smile at us.” – Alfredo The average monthly Gross Income for “active” IBOs was USD $183 (in the U.S.)/CAD $206 (in Canada). Qualifiers can choose from four location options effective September 1, 2017. **Qualifications during Performance Year 2018 (begins September 2017, ends August 2018). The average monthly Gross Income for “active” IBOs was USD $183 (in the U.S.)/CAD $206 (in Canada). Approximately 53% of IBOs in the U.S., and 49% of IBOs in Canada, were “active.” IBOs were considered “active” in months in 2013 when they attempted to make a retail sale, or presented the Amway Independent Business Owner Compensation Plan (IBO Compensation Plan), or received bonus money, or attended an Amway or IBO meeting. The IBO Compensation Plan offers monthly and annual bonuses that IBOs can earn in accordance with their contract with Amway. IBOs also may qualify for the Amway “Growth Incentives Program (GI Program), a collection of discretionary programs separate from the IBO Compensation Plan and that can vary from year to year. IBO eligibility for the GI Program is at Amway’s discretion. The GI Program is available only to IBOs whose conduct demonstrates high ethical and business standards aligned with the goals and objectives of Amway and its related businesses. Following are approximate percentages of IBOs in North America who achieved the illustrated levels of success in the IBO Fiscal Year ending August 31, 2015: Diamond 0.0163%; Diamond Club & Executive Diamond Club; 0.05%, Diamond Dreams; 0.02%. For more details on qualifying for the GI Program and other requirements, see information on Amway.com or contact Amway Sales. Before registering as an IBO, individuals should read and understand the Amway™ Business Overview Brochure, which contains important information for those interested in becoming IBOs. achievemagazine.com 55 NPC 2016 | NAGC 2016 NAGC 2016 Brings IBO & Amway Leaders Together in the Lion City PRIDE, PARTNERSHIP, AND OPPORTUNITY WERE EVIDENT AS TOP IBO AND AMWAY LEADERS MET THIS PAST JUNE IN THE SPECTACULAR CITY OF SINGAPORE FOR THE 2016 NORTH AMERICAN GROWTH COUNCIL. After new Platinums complete their conference registration, the IBOAI®† staff welcomes them to Grand Rapids, Michigan – home of the IBOAI®† offices and Amway World Headquarters. Bob Andrews, long-standing IBOAI®† Board Member and current IBOAI®† Chairman, spoke about the “Foundation of Success” during the NPC business meeting. He encouraged Platinums to build a strong foundation filled with optimism, determination, and resiliency. Bob’s presentation at NPC is one of many ways the IBOAI®† leadership partners with Amway to offer meaningful recognition events, programs, and educational workshops for IBO leaders. In the planning of events, as well as during events like NPC, Achievers, and Diamond Club, recognized IBO leaders like Bob and Terry Andrews, Jody and Kathy Victor, Howie and Teresa Danzik, Bill and Sandy Hawkins, and several others add the value of experience and expertise. IBOAI®† leadership knows it takes hard work to build a business – and they understand how beneficial support can be for IBOs on their journey. It’s why they believe in the IBOAI®† and the value of membership. Jody Victor reminds us, “At just $1 a month, the rewards of membership far exceed the cost.” Bob adds, “IBO members are represented by 25 Diamonds on the IBOAI®† who are constantly working with Amway on their behalf. They work tirelessly to help ensure the Amway opportunity remains the best opportunity out there.” “Through partnership between the IBOAI®† and Amway, we’ve made great strides in moving this business forward,” said Jody. “For example, the business enhancements implemented in recent years are remarkable: long-term growth incentives, Accreditation Plus, succession planning, paperless registration, and revisions to the Rules of Conduct.” Through it all, Rick Abraham provides legal counsel to the IBOAI®†. As a dedicated member of the IBOAI®† executive committee, Bill Hawkins has witnessed the Alternative Dispute Resolution process in action and endorses its performance on behalf of all IBOs and this business. Bill explains, “The IBOAI®† offers this resolution process to help ensure IBOs are treated fairly and the Rules of Conduct are being followed.” The IBOAI®† consistently adheres to the philosophy: open communication is key to business success. Regularly scheduled conference calls between IBOAI®† leadership and leaders in the field provide updates and welcome feedback. To keep the field informed, the IBOAI®† shares important information and events through The Voice eNewsletter, IBOAI.com, ibofacts.com, Facebook®††, Twitter®†††, YouTube®‡, and Instagram®‡‡. IBOs have online access to accounting tips and advice by Joe DePetris, CPA, at IBOAI.com. For questions, the dedicated staff of the IBOAI®† is available by phone or email. You’ve crossed several milestones this past year, and I thank you on behalf of all the Amway North America staff who continue to support you every day. To Achievers, which brought together the largest group of IBOs to experience new ideas while recognizing the newest high achievers. To Diamond Club in Hawaii, where Amway celebrated many new leaders for their exceptional performance. And at this year’s North American Growth Council in Singapore, where we partnered together to lay strategic focus on “key elements” with the intent of building a healthy and sustainable business. It’s a great pleasure to reward and recognize our key leaders at Amway events because you have worked hard to move to the next level of leadership in the Amway business. I’m especially excited about Amway’s 60th Anniversary in Las Vegas in May 2019.
