Easter Sunday
April 20, 2014
Have a
blessed
Easter
Let the risen Jesus enter your life, welcome him as a friend,
with trust: he is life! If up till now you have kept him at a
distance, step forward. He will receive you with open arms.
If you have been indifferent, take a risk: you won’t be
disappointed. If following him seems difficult, don’t be
afraid, trust him, be confident that he is close to you, he is
with you and he will give you the peace you are looking for
and the strength to live as he would have you do.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Opal
Malecek, mother of Mark Malecek. Our sympathy and
prayers are with her family and friends who miss her. May
she rest in peace.
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things
that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2
Do you put God first in all things? Possessions, money,
power, ego can easily become gods to many of us. Do a
quick check of what is important to you. Is God at the very
top of the list? If not, your priorities need to be re-adjusted.
Don’t let earthly things become your god.

THANK YOU
St. Catherine’s would like to thank the anonymous
donor for our beautiful new Easter Candle. The Easter
candle will be lit each day during Mass throughout the
Paschal season until Ascension Thursday.
------This Paschal candle represents Christ,
the Light of the World. The pure beeswax of
which the candle is made represents the
sinless Christ who was formed in the womb
of His Mother. The wick signifies His
humanity, the flame, His Divine Nature, both
soul and body.
During the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday
night the priest or deacon carries the candle
in procession into the dark church. A new
fire, symbolizing our eternal life in Christ, is
kindled which lights the candle. The candle, representing
Christ himself, is blessed by the priest who then inscribes or
follows his hand along the inscribed cross, the first letters
and last of the Greek alphabet - (Alpha and Omega `the
beginning and the end') and the current year. Then from
this flame we all receive light - the flame from this candle
lights the small candle that each one holds, and signifies
the faith that we all receive and share.

A warm and communicative parent-child relationship is
the most important non-technical means that parents can use to
deal with the challenges of the sexualized media environment.
Adults should be willing and open to discussing the websites
family members visit and have regular conversations about the
sexual messages communicated online. For a helpful guide,
consider viewing UNFILTERED: Equipping Parents for an
Ongoing conversation about Internet Pornography, a recorded
parent workshop that addresses how to have this conversation.

How many Easter eggs can you put in an
empty basket?
Only one – after that it’s not empty any more!
Why does the Easter Bunny have a shiny
nose?
Because the powder puff is on the other end!
What do you get if you pour hot water down a rabbit hole?
Hot cross bunnies!
What do you call ten rabbits marching backwards?
A receding hareline.
