SubConn®
Introduction
MacArtney and SubConn® have been working together since 1978 supplying
underwater mateable and harsh environment connectors to customers
worldwide. SubConn® connectors are widely regarded as dependable, rugged
and cost effective. Easily recognisable by their red locking sleeves and with
a track record of more than 35 years at the service of maritime equipment
and system operators, SubConn® connectors are regarded as an industry
standard connectivity solution within most marine markets and industries.
SubConn® circular series
First introduced in 1978, the circular series forms the basis for the technology
that characterises most SubConn® products available today. SubConn®
circular connectors are available in various standard sizes and configurations
with 2 to 25 contacts rated for 300 to 600 V at 5 to 10 A and offers the ability
to combine signal and power within a single connector. SubConn® circular
connectors are manufactured from high grade rubber with different types of
body material and feature a high depth rating.
SubConn® low profile series
The SubConn® low profile series is designed for use with underwater systems
and equipment requiring a more compact connector solution. The low profile
layout enables users to assemble design optimised systems that produce
less drag. SubConn® low profile connectors are manufactured from high
grade rubber with different types of body material and feature a high depth
rating. SubConn® low profile connectors feature the same contact sizes as
the circular series and are available with 2 to 13 contacts rated for 300 to 600
V at 5 to 10 A.
SubConn® ethernet series
Featuring true ethernet type performance, the SubConn® ethernet series is
developed to accommodate the demand for Gigabit data speed, signal and
power for increasingly capable underwater systems. The series includes
different types of ethernet and combined power and ethernet connector
options all set to maximise data flow, while eliminating cross talk and noise.
With contacts rated for 600 V at 4 A, SubConn® combined power and
ethernet connectors allow signal and power supply to be unified in one high
performance solution.

SubConn® coax series
The SubConn® coax series is used to provide High Definition (HD) video
signal for underwater technology systems such as cameras and telemetry
units. SubConn® coax connectors are available in 50 and 75 Ohm versions
as coax-only and as a combined coax and electric connector versions with
six pins for signal passage. The combined versions can be used to fully
control and power equipment using a single connector. SubConn® coax
connectors are designed to minimise signal attenuation caused by noise
interference.
SubConn® metal shell series
The SubConn® metal shell series represents an alternative to circular
series connectors for applications requiring an even more rugged, resilient
and protected connectivity solution. The connectors are manufactured
from stainless steel and are available in three different shell sizes. Flange
mountable and bulkhead connectors are available as standard and connector
configuration ranges from 2 to 12 contacts rated for 300 to 600 V at 5 to 10
A. SubConn® metal shell connectors are designed to mate with compatible
standard in-line connectors.
SubConn® power series
The SubConn® power series is designed to accommodate the ever
growing power requirements of underwater systems. The SubConn® power
series includes a single contact welding connector, three battery charging
connectors (2, 3 and 4 contacts) and a 4 contact high power connector. The
single contact welding connector can be operated at up to 3 kV at 250 A. The
battery charging connectors are suitable for carrying up to 25 A per pin. The 4
contact high power connector is suitable for 600 V at 50 A per pin.
SubConn® penetrator series
The SubConn® penetrator series is developed as a fixed installation
alternative to in-line and bulkhead connectors. SubConn® penetrators are
primarily used for applications where direct signal and power feedthrough is
emphasised above the flexibility provided by a mateable connector interface.
SubConn® penetrators are manufactured from neoprene and based on
industry standard flange and bulkhead mount metal bodies. The series
comprises five shell sizes in straight or right angle configurations while
custom solutions are available on demand.
SubConn® specials
Over the years, a large number of ‘special’ connector solutions, utilising
the proven SubConn® contact design, have been designed for specific
applications. These connectors range from single contact units to advanced
metal shell connectors for geophysical transition zone applications. To
name just a few, the SubConn® specials includes SplitConn adapters, Reed
switches, hermaphroditic connectors, mil spec connectors and unique
products for direct circuit board mounting and mass produced underwater
flash units.
SubConn® cables
All standard SubConn® cables are of the flexible and water resistant
polyurethane or neoprene rubber type. SubConn® cable configurations
include single conductor, twisted pair, quad, coax, ethernet and numerous
combined solutions for signal, data and power transfer.
Supported by several worldwide locations, MacArtney provides advanced
termination, moulding and cable assembly services for all SubConn®
products.
