His traveling companion was his daughter, Letha Miller,
until she was grown and then the Lord blessed him with
Mary Beaman. Mary was his girlfriend for 16 years and
longtime traveling companion. This relationship saw
him through his golden years and made him a happy
man.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held Saturday,
April 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in
Oracle. Following the service, there will be a Fiddler’s
Jam Session, thanks to the Arizona Old Time Fiddler’s
Association, and a potluck. Bring a dish to share and
come celebrate Robert’s life the way he celebrated life.
Bruce William Robertson was peacefully taken home
early Wednesday morning, April 20, 2016, after a long and
heroic battle with lung disease. Born October 18, 1935,
in Rock Springs, Wyoming, Bruce is
survived by his loving family: Caroline
Perreira Robertson, son William (Bill)
Guy & Jane Robertson, daughter Gigi
Mari (Robertson) and Mark H. Boyack,
grandchildren Rachel (Boyack) and Kyle
Koch, Kayleigh (Robertson) & Charles
Howard Johnson IV, Steven William &
Kailey Boyack, Conrad William Robertson.
In 1953 Bruce graduated from Wasatch
Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah then joined the Navy and
served on the USS Eugene S. Greene in the Mediterranean.
He later graduated from the Naval Post Graduate school
in Monterey, CA and while there he met the love of his life,
Caroline Perreira, whom he married in November, 1958.
After moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1959, he started
his engineering career with Sperry Univac, later attending
the University of Utah where he earned a BS in Electrical
Engineering.
After graduation he worked for Litton Industries which
took him to Italy, then relocated the family to California,
Texas eventually returning to Salt Lake City.
A perpetual entrepreneur, Bruce started several companies
– not all were commercially successful, but not for lack of
trying. Starting with TipMats, then Trionics, Computer
Video Systems, moving to The Stone Cooker, and finally
Information Age Systems /Digital Alert Systems, which
continues to thrive. A well known and respected expert and
educator on Emergency Alert Systems he authored several
articles and gave numerous presentations to SCTE and SBE
chapters around the country.
Bruce was a member of the Rock Springs Chapter, Order
of DeMolay, later he joined Twin Peaks #32 Masonic
lodge and followed through York Rite, Scottish Rite and
Shriners organizations. Bruce chose to join St. Thomas
Moore Catholic Church in 1994 and served faithfully in
various ministries since. After moving to Oracle, Arizona
in 2002, became involved and served at St. Helen Parish
and joined the Knights of Columbus. Always ready to help
with a church project, he particularly enjoyed his time spent
ministering to inmates in prison.
A husband, father, grandfather, friend, teacher, mentor,
minister, musician, humorist, writer and inventor with
several patents… but mostly he embodied the eternal
optimist who set a great example for others with his always
positive outlook on life, and always caring for the needs
of others. His legacy shall endure and he will forever be
missed by all that knew him.
Bruce’s Pay It Forward Wish
In lieu of flowers, his last request to honor his memory:
“If there is some way to say goodbye, find a need in family
or community - no matter how large or small - that needs
to be filled. Buy a coat for someone, make a car payment,
pay a medical bill. Just look and you can find a need. Pay it
forward and we will consider it paid.”
A memorial for Bruce will be held at St. Helen Catholic
Church in Oracle, AZ on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 11 a.m.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Covenants and contracts
Contracts and Covenants are only as good as the honor of
those that manage them.
When the citizen enters military service for his Nation,
the terms of agreement are in compensation to honor the
veteran with care of body for having bore the burden in
suffering and sacrifice.
Veteran health care is not a benefit. It is a contractual
obligation, a covenant, a pledge from those protected and
receiving material gain due to the veteran’s service. The
issue is honor quid pro quo.
Patriot, Potentate, Praetorian... herein lies the dilemma.
The Potentate or conniving tyrant, uses the Patriot as
a praetorian and through facilitating control by means
of the treasury, establishes a bureaucracy to cheat the
Patriot.
A Patriot is a citizen who lays life on the line for their
neighbor sustaining a way of freedom, liberty and justice.
A praetorian is a hired mercenary compensated with
plunder.
The American culture of individual liberty and justice is
established on biblical principles, drawing strength and
success from understanding carried forward by Patriots
since our inception some 240 years ago.
A weak and conniving potentate projects an image of

righteousness and biblical responsibility with no intent
of reciprocation; he deceives. World history is replete
with betrayal of veteran by potentate through lie and
bureaucratic subterfuge. Those that pledged to each other
their lives, fortunes and sacred honor; establishing the
American Nation, understood history all too well.
The eventual outcome for the potentate is always the
same. His is the greed that represents the end of the
cycle as he is devoured; eaten up and defecated by
the praetorian employed. The hireling consumes the
presupposed elite as they have not the courage to do their
dirty work. Cowards always succumb to devils deployed
and, bureaucrats are ground into dust.
Only an educated, responsible and accountable citizenry
will turn the tide. Only when the citizenry understand and
demand Patriots, not praetorian and potentate.

Resolution Copper helps to
protect endangered cactus
April 25, 2016 - Superior, AZ -- Located
in far eastern Pinal County, east of
Superior and west of Miami, Arizona
is the JI Ranch, a 266-acre site known
for tall stands of Emory oak trees, rocky
outcrops and natural beauty. Owned by
Resolution Copper, the ranch is nestled
within a Madrean Evergreen Woodland
and surrounded by the Tonto National
Forest. There are no freeways, no chain
restaurants, no big-box retailers, and no
industrial development – in fact it’s the
perfect location to protect an endangered
plant known as the Arizona hedgehog
cactus. “The endangered Arizona Hedgehog
cactus, listed under the Endangered
Species Act, is an important part of
Arizona’s natural landscape and cultural
heritage,” says Tara Kitcheyan, Sr. Advisor,
Native American Affairs, Resolution
Copper. “The vision of Resolution Copper
is not only to stimulate the Copper
Triangle economy, but to also preserve
the cultural and historical heritage of the
region, including the cultural heritage
of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. We are
honored to have the opportunity to protect
and preserve the Arizona hedgehog cactus,
a plant that is mutually important to the
San Carlos Apache Tribe and to Resolution
Copper,” Kitcheyan said.
In August 2012, under the watchful eye
of biologists from Tucson-based WestLand
Resources, approximately 1,000 small
vegetative propagations, called “offsets”
or “pups” were collected from mature
Arizona hedgehog cactus growing on the
JI Ranch. These cacti were planted in
pots containing a mixture of native soil
and sand, and kept in a greenhouse at
the JI Ranch where they were monitored
and watered monthly for more than three
years. Some were observed budding,
flowering, and producing “pups” of their
own while in the greenhouse.
In March 2016, 364 Arizona hedgehog
cactus offsets were planted by Resolution
Copper within suitable habitat at the JI
Ranch and with the help of volunteers
from a youth group affiliated with the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints, Chandler Stake. Habitat chosen for
transplant sites included rock crevices, the
base of boulders, and soil pockets under
shrubs, with partial shade. The remaining
Arizona offsets continue to be nurtured in
the greenhouse for future planting.

community helps connect the youth to the

Oracle Spring Run Car Show was a shining success
The 30th Annual Oracle Spring Run Car Show, which
took place during the Oracle Oaks Festival, followed
the ever-popular time-honored formula of a car show,
parade, swap meet, craft fair and book sale.
The car parade ran through Oracle, starting at 9:30
a.m., ending at the Pinal County Courthouse Park where
owners set up their cars, popped their hoods and waited
for the accolades to pour in. The vehicles sparkled in the
glorious April Oracle sunshine, ready to be judged and
trophies to be awarded. With more than 117 beauties to
choose from, judges must have found these decisions
difficult.
And this year’s winners are:

as Tri-Community celebrates Oracle Oaks Festival
This year, like last year, judging for the Oracle
Oaks Parade went a little differently than from
years past. Instead of judging in the middle
of the parade and announcing winners in the
afternoon, judges made their decisions before
the parade and handed out awards on the spot.
And the winners are …

CAC Governing Board hosts meeting at Aravaipa Campus;
president vows that current board will not close campus
By Mila Besich-Lira
Copper Area News
It is well known that in small towns and
organizations everyone must wear multiple
hats, and if you are not wearing at least two or
three then you must not be busy enough.
Last week business owners, elected officials
students, faculty, Copper Corridor residents
filled the cafeteria at the CAC Aravaipa
Campus to share with the board during call
to the public how important the Aravaipa
campus is to them and its benefit to the
community. Many of those speaking wear
multiple roles in their community from
teachers and elected officials, business owners
and non-profit board members.
The board heard over 50 comments from
these community members in the call to the
public, some of them were encouraging the
board to approve a two percent pay increase
for the staff and a majority of the comments
were personal stories and requests that the
board do everything in their power to keep the
Aravaipa Campus open.
There were a few residents who explained
that they are not against education but they
are not in favor of additional tax increases
and called for the board to be more fiscally
conservative.
Board President Gladys Christiansen thanked
everyone for their comments and stated that
they would not close the campus for as long as
they can keep it open. Since late 2015 there
have been major rumblings and suggestions
made to the Central Arizona College
Governing Board that the Aravaipa Campus
should be closed in order to save money and
avoid any further property tax increases to
the tax payers of Pinal County. Investments,
they were told, should be concentrated in the
populated areas of the county. The board has
been hearing from many anti tax groups who
have become very vocal at board meetings.
Following the two-hour call to the public
session, the board went into executive (secret)
session. After the executive session the board
voted unanimously to provide staff with a
two percent pay increase and not to increase
the cost of the employee benefits and not to

increase taxes to accommodate this increase.
The board also received a report on financial
expenditures and viewed a presentation by
CAC Aravaipa student Edward Aguirre, who
showcased many student success stories from
the CAC Aravaipa Campus.

Resolution Copper Mining is a limited
liability company working to develop the
third largest undeveloped copper resource
in the world near Superior, AZ. The
project will mine ore using underground
block-caving methods at depths of
nearly 7,000 feet below surface. When
in full production, the mine will employ
1,400 workers directly and generate an
additional 2,300 indirect and induced
