Step by step guide to managing your account
DON’T GO OVER
YOUR CREDIT LIMIT
Your Credit Limit is the amount that we have agreed
to lend you. You need to avoid spending more than
your Credit Limit.
If you do go over your Credit Limit
• You will incur an overlimit fee of £12
• It could be bad for your overall credit score
• It could stop you getting Credit Limit increases in
the future
• It could harm your ability to get further credit
WAYS TO AVOID GOING OVER YOUR
CREDIT LIMIT
Remember your Credit Limit
Your Credit Limit will be be printed on the letter that
comes with your credit card. Don’t forget what it is,
and be aware that we may increase or reduce your
limit. If we do this we will inform you in writing.
Check your balance regularly
You need to make sure your balance does not go
over your Credit Limit. Don’t rely on your monthly
statement to keep track of your balance. Check your
balance regularly by calling 01623 23 23 23* or check
it online using eVanquis, our online account service.
And remember, even if you don’t spend on your card
that month, interest charges and other items such as
Repayment Option Plan charges may be added to
your balance which will increase your balance and
could cause you to go overlimit.
2 DON’T MISS YOUR MONTHLY PAYMENT
It is important that we receive at least your minimum
payment by your payment due date each month. If
you miss a payment:
Don’t spend right up to your
Credit Limit
• You will incur a late payment fee of £12
Spending right up to or close to your Credit Limit can
cause you to go overlimit. This can be due to items
such as interest and Repayment Option Plan charges
which are added to your account balance when your
statement is issued. To avoid going overlimit, don’t
spend right up to your Credit Limit and check your
balance a few days before your statement is issued.
• It could stop you getting Credit Limit increases in
the future

WAYS TO AVOID MISSING YOUR
PAYMENT
If you have used more than 90% of your Credit Limit,
then make a one off payment to your account to
make some room for these extra items.
• It could be bad for your overall credit score
• You may incur the Return Payment charge
of £12 if you pay us by cheque or direct debit and
the payment is not honoured by your bank.

if calling from outside the UK
It is a good idea to make a note of your monthly
payment due date, which is roughly the same time
each month.
You can find out your payment due date by either
calling 01623 23 23 23 or checking your paper or
online statement. If this date is not convenient for you
(if it is just before your pay day for example), you can
change future payment dates by calling our customer
service team on 0330 099 3000*. Please note that
your payment date may not be on exactly the same
date each month.
Don’t bury your head in the sand
If you are having trouble making your minimum
payments, then please call us immediately and we
will seek to help you find a solution to paying off
your debt.

KEEP ALL YOUR OTHER
FINANCES IN ORDER
Over time we may increase your Credit Limit subject
to you managing your Visa Card well. It is important
that we look at your wider finances when deciding
whether to give you a Credit Limit increase. This

due amount and make sure you have enough money
to make this payment. If you pay by Direct Debit you
need to make sure you have enough money in your
current account.
Budget Budget Budget!
It is a good idea to add up all your regular monthly
bills (including your credit card bills) and calculate the
difference between this and your monthly income.
This will tell you how much spare money you have
every month to spend.

Calls to 01 and 03 numbers from UK landlines and mobiles are normally included
in free plan minutes if available; otherwise calls to 03 numbers cost the same as calls to

mobiles and landlines.
