In the year 1962, Mr. Gupta started his professional career
as the Manager Operations of Hotel Clarks Shiraz, Agra. (A
unit of Clarks Group of Hotels), which was one of the three
best 5 star hotels in the Country at that time. A graduate in
Science from Banaras Hindu University, Mr. Gupta is a
diploma holder in Hotel.
Management from the only Hotel Management &
Restaurant Institute in Bombay at that point of time. He also
did diploma in Travel Industry Management from East West
Centre, HAWAI, USA.
Mr. Gupta took retirement from active life on Jan 20th
2014 after putting in 50 distinguished years. Apart from his
contribution in the field of Operations HRD, Financial
Management, Marketing and Public Relations in Clarks
Group & Great Value Hotels he very actively and positively
contributed towards the development of Tourism,
particularly in undivided U.P. and nationally along with
active participation in building the various associations and
forums such as; U.P. Hotel & Restaurant Association,
Tourism Guild, Association of Hoteliers and Restaurant
keepers, Tourist Agents, Transporters and the Tourist
department of Uttar Pradesh. He held several prestigious
positions in various forums related to Travel and Tourism
industry.
Mr. Gupta was the President of Tourism Guild of Agra, a
platform of people from the Tourism, since beginning and
now is the Life Patron of the prestigious body. Mr. Gupta
attended many top professional programmes organized by
IIM, Ahmedabad, PATA - India Chapter, AIMA, ISTD, NIPM
and etc. He participated many National and International
Seminars in Europe, USA, Japan and is instrumental in
promoting Tourism and Travel Trade with the sole adjective
to introduce and develop economy budget Hotels, Motels,
Lodges, Inns and fast food counters in India and nearby
Country.
Mr. Gupta was a part of the delegation led by the then
Minister of Tourism, Government of India and the Chief
Mistier of Uttar Pradesh, visiting Japan, Korea, Thailand, in
order to Promote Budhist Circuit in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
During his president ship of HRANI in the year 2000
when Hony. Shri. Narayan Dutt Tiwari ji was the Chief
Minister of Uttar Pradesh , has organized a big seminar in the
newly created State of Uttaranchal, with sole purpose of
promoting Tourism in this promising part of the country with
the involvement of the Hon'ble Governor and the Hon'ble
Chief Minister of Uttaranchal, now Uttarakhand. He also
contributed in the National Chamber of Commerce and
Industries, U.P. as the Chairman of Tourism Cell, Hospitality
cell.
BREIF DETAILS OF CONTRIBUTION TO THE
INDUSTRY
Tourism was started in Uttar Pradesh by Shri. B.K. Gupta
and his father family with the opening of Clarks Hotel in
Varanasi in the year 1949 to promote export. Thereafter
pioneering work was done by him by by opening first 5- star
hotel in the city of Taj Mahal i.e. Agra in the year 1962 by the
name o9f Hotel Clarks Shiraz. It was only after Hotel Clarks
Shiraz opened i9n 1962 that Taj Mahal started being noticed
more and more and tourism developed in the State of U.P.
He also pioneered the opening of Hotel Clarks Avadh in
Lucknow where again it was the first 5- star hotel with the
intention to develop Lucknow as a tourism place. The
contribution of Mr. B.K. Gupta's family in the development of
tourism has been tremendous. He and his family brought
together various segments of tourism Industry namely the
Government, Travel Writers, Airlines, Travel Transporters
and many more and to this day, the entire Industry holds the
Clarks Group and the family behind it in great esteem.Mr.
Gupta has pledged his entire life for the cause of tourism. He
has worked day and night for the promotion of tourism in the
State of Uttar Pradesh and Northern India and later on, in all
parts of the India. He has been recognized by the Industry by
being made President of Uttar Pradesh Hotel and
Restaurant Association for last more than four decades,
President of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern
India from, President of Federation of Hotel and Restaurant
Association of India for the year 2001-2002. He was also the
chair person of Agra Tourism Guild for almost a decade and
is life patron of Agra Tourism Guild at present.
Mr. B. K. Gupta's efforts are not confined to Clarks Group
of Hotels. He believes in providing advice to the new
entrepreneurs entering in the field of tourism. He has
advised the Government in the development of new tourist
circuits. He is consulted by various bodies about
harmonizing various activities which lead to development of
tourism to the extent that in the recent past, the Government
of India along with Government of Uttar Pradesh invited.Mr.
B. K. Gupta has been the Initiator of various tourist
promotion activities like Yamunotsnav, Taj Mahotsav at Agra,
Lucknow Mohotsav at Lucknow, Jhansi Mahostav, Ganga
Mahotsav at Varanasi, Pushkar fare in Rajasthan etc. He
has also initiated the setting up of Shilpgram at Agra, Light
and Sound show at Agra Fort, first flight to Kathmandu and
he had motivated the VIP movements so that more business
could be generated from the countries of these visiting
dignitaries.
As the President of F.H.R.A.I. Mr. Gupta has signed a
Memorandum of Understanding along with the members of
FICCI and C.I.I. with the Government of Indonesia to
Promote tourism and also has vigorous dialogues with the
Ministry of External Affairs, Embassies and dignitaries
representing Foreign Government for the cause of travel and
tourism. During the period, after 11th September attack on
WTC, he canvassed very vigorously and as a result most of
the countries reversed the travel adversaries which they had
issued for travel to more, he was also responsible for various
seminar for tourism growth in partnership with State
Government and Government of India during the year 200120012 and because of his extensive lobbying through
F.H.R.A.I. For the first time, the finance budget of
Government of India gave significant place to tourism in the
budget and offered relief for the promotion of tourism in the
country. Mr. B. K. Gupta's efforts in the field of tourism
development have been recognized from time to time by the
Ministers, Secretaries and Director Generals of Tourism at
the State and Central Level from time to time and his
credentials can be verified from them at any time.

Deepika Arora, regional vice president - Eurasia is
responsible for growing the portfolio of Wyndham Hotel
Group brands including Dolce Hotels and Resorts®,
Wyndham Grand®, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts®,
Wyndham Garden® Hotels, TRYP by Wyndham®,
Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham®, Ramada®, Ramada
Arora also served as senior manager of strategic
consulting and research for Jones Lang Lasalle in New
Delhi, responsible for a variety of real estate planning
projects. In addition, she held various managerial roles in
development with CPG Consultants in Singapore and
Bangalore and Jurong Consultants in Bangalore. Arora
was recently acknowledged as one of the top 25 most
powerful women in India in 2015 by Business Today for
her successful efforts in the industry. She holds a
bachelor’s degree in planning and a master’s degree in
landscape architecture from the School of Planning &

With around 30 years of work experience and many
testimonials to her credit, Ms. Manju Sharma is a true
epitome of hospitality industry knowledge and skills.
Currently, she is the Managing Director at 'Jaypee
Group of Hotels', a part of the Rs. 20, 000 crore
conglomerate Jaypee Group. Ms. Manju Sharma has
been shouldering great responsibility since the year
1991 when she joined the group as a management
trainee. With her sheer hard work, dedication and
sincerity, she has reached the pinnacle of her career in
the span of 25 years.
The Group's hospitality business owns and
operates 8 properties spread across India. Five 5 Star
Hotels, Greg Norman designed 18 Hole Championship
Golf Course, service apartments, first ever Six Senses
Spa and Atlantis - The Club at Jaypee Integrated Sports
Complex.
She holds an honors degree in Mathematics from
Delhi University with a Diploma in Computer Science.
She also has a Masters Diploma in Applications
Programming from City and Guilds Institute, London.
Ms. Sharma commenced her career in the finance
department of QBE Insurance Limited in Australia, later
she joined Jaypee Group of Hotels.
Under her aegis the Jaypee Group of Hotels
expanded substantially. In 1995 Jaypee Residency
Manor, Mussoorie embarked upon its journey. An
epitome of grandeur, 25 acre Jaypee Palace Hotel and
International Convention Center was commissioned in
Agra. Not to leave the flagship hotels behind, Jaypee
Vasant Continental was majorly renovated in 2003 and
Jaypee Siddharth in 2007. The latest addition to the repertoire is
Jaypee Greens Golf and Spa Resort, Greater Noida. A year after its
inception there was a collaboration of world renowned Six Senses
Spa with the Golf Resort.
Apart from administering the hotel, Ms. Sharma is also a
member of Managing Committee of HRANI and is a member of CIICommittee of Tourism.
Under her able leadership, Jaypee hotels have been conferred
with several awards. Jaypee Palace Agra received 'Best Hotel
Based Meeting Venue' from Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India
consecutively for two years, in 2013-14 and 2012-13. Jaypee
Greens Golf and Spa Resort received 'Best Golf Resort (India)',
2014 by Travel & Leisure. It has also been coveted with 'Most
Admired Golf Resort of the Year' and 'Most Preferred Hotel Spa of

Vikas joined Taj Group as a young management trainee in 1993. After
completion of the training programme in 2 years, he was posted as a opening
member of Taj Lucknow in Banquets in 1995. He moved to Accommodations
as Duty Manager in 1998. Thereafter he rose to the rank of Front Office
Manager and was moved to Taj Harimahal, Jodhpur as Accommodation
Manager in 2002. He became EAM of the hotel in 2005 and thereafter was
