Dear Friends of Fraser,
Every year we are privileged to be able to
highlight some of the amazing individuals
who tell us “Fraser saved our lives.”
We are humbled that so many families
credit us with performing miracles, but in
reality, these clients and their families are
the ones who work hard to reach their full
potential. We are simply giving them the
right tools to be successful.
So if our services are not miraculous,
what is our secret? It is you!
Today Fraser serves over 9,000 individuals through our direct services. Each year we
serve more and more people, and our ability
to inspire hope and deliver quality in a caring and compassionate manner could not
happen without your generous support.
As we implement our vision that no individual in Minnesota will have to travel more
than 35 miles or 35 minutes to access Fraser
services, we will open a clinic in Eden Prairie in 2014, adding to the broad array of
healthcare, housing, and education services
we provide. We’re excited that this expansion can help us meet the tremendous needs
of those with autism and other special needs
in the community.
We are capably meeting the desperate
needs because of you. Thank you, and bless
you for all you do to help Fraser to help
others!

Fraser
is the largest and
most experienced provider of autism services in

each year.
Fraser

families and individualizes treatment

N
atasha and Julian noticed early
on that their twin sons were not
developing at the same pace.
Unlike Aric, Jack continued to
miss milestones. After numerous tests, he
was diagnosed with hypotonia, cerebral palsy, and PDD-NOS, a form of autism. “We
were just crushed,” said Natasha.
After trying center-based services that
produced mixed results, they turned to
Fraser Autism Home Services, where Jack
was paired with a Behavioral Aide. “They
came to his school, the park, and even out
to dinner to help us learn how to handle
everyday situations.”
“We gained the knowledge we needed to
help Jack accelerate,” said his parents. “To
see Jack now, walking, playing soccer,
making friends, it’s just amazing,” said
Natasha. “We have so much hope for his
future.”

Fraser Transition Services work with individuals and their families to help them better
understand and address issues of education,
employment, and independent living.

arah was diagnosed with Asperger’s
Disorder in second grade. After
graduating from high school, she
wanted to pursue her interest in
biology. The bird show at the Minnesota Zoo
had an internship, but she didn’t get it. “I
knew this internship would be perfect for
me, but I froze up in the interview,” said
Sarah.
Looking for help, Sarah met with Fraser
Transition Services and right away felt
connected. “They helped her with her
interview skills, her resume, and her
confidence. I saw a real difference in Sarah,”
said Sarah’s mother Ellen.
“I was prepared to tackle the zoo
internship interview again, and I got it!” said
Sarah, who is now involved in all aspects of
the bird show. She plans to return to Fraser
for help with her transition to college, and
setting long-term goals. “I want to get my
degree, and work with children and animals.”

hen Lamar was two years
old, he was having trouble
expressing his feelings, he
didn’t want to play with
other kids, and he would have horrible
outbursts,” said Kim, Lamar’s mother.
“I was getting daily reports about his
behavior.”
A year later, Lamar was expelled from
childcare because his behavior was so
disruptive. That’s when Kim took Lamar to
and provided
family
intervention to
mothers affected
by mental illness
and their
children
Fraser, where he was diagnosed with
Disruptive Behavior Disorder, Expressive
Language Disorder and Developmental Delay.
“I knew something wasn’t right and I needed
answers,” said Kim.
Lamar began receiving a number of
services through Fraser Preschool Mental
Health and Fraser Pediatric Therapy. “He
began asking for what he needed instead of
getting frustrated right away,” said Kim. “I
don’t know where we’d be without Fraser.”

Fraser also works with individuals and families to design
programs that allow people
with special needs to stay in
their own homes, maintain
their health and well-being,
and increase their participation in the community.
Fraser operates group homes,
apartment buildings and other
housing choices for adults with
disabilities, and helps address the
developmental, health, safety,

eff was diagnosed with developmental
delays when he was very young, and
attended Fraser School as an infant and
toddler. When Jeff got older, his parents
knew if they needed to find a place for Jeff to
live, they would come back to Fraser.
In 2005, Jeff moved into one of the Fraser
Residential Living homes for adults with
developmental disabilities. He was happy,
but his housemates were older and less
active than Jeff. “Fraser suggested another
home might be a better fit,” said Cindy, Jeff’s
mother. “We really appreciated Fraser
finding the perfect place for our son.”
“He’s around active guys his own age
now. He started golfing, dancing, bowling,
and getting more involved in the
community,” Cindy said. “He’s really happy
and in a good place. We are very proud of
Jeff’s accomplishments and growth.”

eb and Frances were adopted
from Ethiopia when they were
four months old. “I noticed
when they were about 2 years
old, they had more energy and dramatic
behaviors compared to their peers,” said
their mom, Kat.
The children had never been in a
structured preschool program, but a friend
suggested Fraser School, which has both
pre-kindergarten and pediatric therapy
options. “Frances has sensory needs and
anxiety, so we needed a school that could
accommodate her needs. At Fraser School,

Kat and her
husband saw it as a fit
for both of their
children. “We love that
Fraser School is
integrated with
children of all abilities,”
said Kat. “Here, our
kids see no differences.”

ope is a powerful feeling. When
parents tell us that Fraser offers
them a first feeling of hope, we
immediately think about you,
our donors. As a financial supporter of Fraser, you are more than a name in this publication: you create hope.
If you’ve received a service at Fraser,
you’ve been touched by the kindness of
financial gifts, and especially by the
generosity of people like George Hutson.
For over a decade, George has demonstrated
dedication to Fraser. His generous
leadership gifts have helped Fraser create
innovative programs and improve treatment
outcomes for children with autism.
George founded Filtration Engineering
in 1982, and served as the CEO until it was
sold in 2012. Not one to stand still, George
is currently CEO of ProSpect Analytical. In
2013, George stepped up to be the Premier
Sponsor of the Fraser Annual Benefit, a gift
that went directly to grow and enrich autism
treatment programs at four Fraser clinics.
His dedication to giving in support of
children and adults with special needs has
made Fraser the leading provider of autism
services in Minnesota and helped thousands
of children and families.
We thank our dear friend, George, for
transforming so many lives.
