the Netcare Foundation in the support of the Netcare Cleft Lip
and palate and Craniofacial surgical programmes.

literally lost everything, including his job and the ability to talk
and eat with ease.
Patients selected for this programme – which is run from
Netcare Sunninghill Hospital – have complicated craniofacial
anomalies. Beneficiaries who are unable to access this care
elsewhere are selected for assessment and assistance via our
surgical programme. Herewith is a short story of the long road to
normality for Sinatemba...
Yet, despite it all, he remained resolute in his belief that he
would one day find the help he needed to turn his life around.
Discovered by ‘The Sowetan’, who partnered with The Netcare
Foundation, Sinethemba was accepted into the CSI craniofacial
initiative.
Sinethemba, a 31 year old man from Kokstad with severe facial
anomalies, is a shining example of one who has triumphed over
adversity and challenge. A massive tumour had grown over the

Boots where he scored a total of 48 points for his team. These were
presented to Netcare and are bronzed and in a glass frame with a
picture of him.

novels including “The Eagle has Landed”, which went on to sell more
than 50 million copies. Photograph is signed by him and his wife Sarah

In Loving Memory of WCJ Brink
In 1971 Tinus Brink decided to start his own small
coin and stamp collection. For him the monetary
value was not important, it was all about the art
of collecting, picking up coins and stamps from all
around the world, cleaning it and finally organising it
according to his own unique filing system. As a first
Christmas gift to his wife he gave her a filing album.
A gift more suited to him than her. Until his passing
in 2007, stamps and coins were his guilty pleasure,
and he left his family a fortune of fond memories. We
as his family know that his greatest wish would be,
that the new collectors, would get as much passion
and fun out of it, as he has. (1944 - 2007)
