Chapter 1 – Introduction
KBOX Overview
Welcome to KBOX, the multi-platform karaoke system !
Starting as a form of entertainment, originally from Japan, karaoke system has touched the famous point when
it is popular in many countries around the world. Beside of providing a full-scale music entertainment, karaoke
system gives a lot of benefits for our life and it becomes the favorite pastime for many people. Karaoke system
offers wonderful benefits such as health, physical state and improves behavior and friendship.
As a modern karaoke system - KBOX allows you to transform your electronic devices (home computer, tablet,
smartphone, computer sticker, Raspberry board) into an interactive karaoke system. More than just traditional
karaoke player or karaoke software – KBOX provides a multi-purpose solutions for playing and creating
karaoke activities at home or club. Just simply downloading installation file on our website or mobile play
store, and convert your device into the real karaoke system.
With KBOX, you can become a super star of your own entertainment zone. KBOX help you to enjoy the
background music, see lyrics light up on a screen and hear your own voice being dubbed over the top of your
lovely music.
You will be definitely surprised to find that KBOX plays nearly almost karaoke format such as: MIDI, KAR, VOB,
MPEG, etc. Aside playing karaoke, based on KODI - the famous entertainment center, KBOX is also inherited
from its predecessors: it can manage multimedia sources, easy interact and easy maintain resources.

KBOX Multi-Platform
For maximizing flexible and convenient of entertainment, KBOX offers multi-platform architecture, in which
customers can select the platform for themselves. Currently, KBOX supported two popular platforms:
Windows and Android.
WINDOWS PLATFORM: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 OS.
ANDROID PLATFORM: Android 4.4 or above.

Chapter 2 – Get Started
Quick Installation & Free Activate Product
• System Requirements
- Operating System
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64 bit), Windows 8.x full version, Windows 10 (for Windows platform).
Android 4.4 or above (for KBOX-Android and Smart Remote for Android), ARM Architecture (the
package for Intel architecture will be provide in next plan).
• Recommended Minimum Hardware for Better Performance
- 1.3 GHz or faster processor
- 1 GB Ram (Recommended: 2GB RAM or greater).
- 1 GB of available hard disk space.
- 1024*768 screen resolution.
I.
Install KBOX for Windows
1. Double click on the “KBOX-1.0.0-Setup.exe”, and you will see the setup wizard pop up. Click
“Next” to continue !
2. KBOX is inherited from KODI and DFT developed more functions from original source code, so
in order to proceed, you must accept the License Agreement. Click “I Agree”.

Recommended your selection as below – then click “Next”.
4. Select installation location, click “Next” then click “Install”

5. When the process is completed, a dialog box will notify KBOX has been installed in your device.
You can choose to check “Run KBOX” to run KBOX right after the installation process. Click
“Finish” to complete the installation.

Install Smart Remote for Android
1. Click on file “KBOX-Remote-1.0.1.apk” from your android device.
2. If your device blocks the installation, please go to phone setting as follows:
After entering phone setting, “check unknown source installation”
3. Just click “Install” then finish your installation.
III.
Install KBOX for Android
Click on file “KBOX-1.0.0-ARMEABI-V7A.apk” then process the same part II).

Activate Product
KBOX is totally free product at this time. However, customers need to activate for the first time of
use. For activating, please do these simple steps:
1. Go to http://www.mykbox.com
2. Click on “Activate” Tab
3. Register new account for activation or use your existing account. You can also login KBOX system
by Google account or Facebook account. After you successfully sign-in our registration system,
the screen as below:
4. Open KBOX for the first use (Warning ! – At the first time of use, KBOX requires internet
connection to confirm some parameters for product activation. Please make sure your device
can ping to internet)

5. Enter 8 characters string code – this code has just been generated by KBOX (for example in this
case: 77FD-1394) - to the activation field from step 3). Press “Active”.
6. KBOX has been automatically activated. (No need to reactivate even update/reinstall KBOX,
unless you change your hardware device/reinstall OS).
KBOX Configuration
Currently, KBOX supports not only Karaoke features but also many entertainment activities such as viewing
video, listening music and even viewing picture. In this user guide, we most focus on KARAOKE features.
How to configure KARAOKE SYSTEM ?
1. Click on the gold KARAOKE icon to active KARAOKE mode.
2. At the first time of use, KBOX needs to download database for itself. Click YES to download new database
for KBOX or you will do it manually by entering “Config/Add-Ons/My-Ad-ons/Program Add-ons/Update
Karaoke – Run”.

3. Please select your song language to download. Currently, version 1.0 only allows you to select one
language each time. This limitation will be overcome in next version. Double-click to select your package,
for example “Vietnamese”
The select package was changed to “gold color” – you have just selected it !

4. Be patient when KBOX downloads its database (around 700 MB), the time depends on your internet
speeds. Don’t worry about disconnection during download, our solution supports resume mode.
5. After finished, we can play over 4500 songs in MIDI format.
6. Any problem during download/after download/database update: Customer can manually check
database, by entering “Config Add-ons My Add-on  Program Add-ons  Run”, then repeat step
3). above.
7. Configure VOB Karaoke database (full HD Karaoke from external devices such as Hard Disk (HDD),
network storage, USB stickers…):
a. Entering configure icon
b. Select Karaoke icon, KARAOKE-SETTING: Setting Level – select Advanced.

Select the path for VOB Karaoke files. If your storage consists of large amount of files, please
be patient – it takes a long time to import directory structure (~ 1-5 minutes). We require
you have to install KBOX smart remote to play VOB files ! (View next guide to master how
to configure smart remote).

KBOX – Smart Remote Configuration
Smart Remote can help user to expand the ease and convenience of use. By installing a small android
application to their smart phone, user can easily interact with Karaoke system for doing many activities such
as song searching, booking, insert, tone/voice/volume adjustment and more… Besides supporting fully
functionality of karaoke remote, KBOX Smart Remote can be used as general remote control for other multimedia functions in KBOX.
1. Make sure KBOX and your smart phone are connected to the same Wifi network.
2. KBOX side:
a. Config Services: Services – Settings: Enable Zeroconf for announce services to other
systems. If this Zeroconf is disable, Smart remote cannot search and find out KBOX
(however, we can manually configure Smart Remote).
b. If KBOX is running on Windows, customer needs install bonjour service to enable Zeroconf
feature: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL999?locale=en_US
c.
Config Services: Services – Settings: Webserver – Select for port (for example 8181),
username (for example: kbox) and password (for example: 111111). The default username
and password are: kbox/111111.
3. Smart phone side:
a. Install and run KBOX Remote.
b. Check your local network again to make sure KBOX and KBOX Remote are in the same
network.
c.
At the first time, KBOX Remote will display the search panel as below:
d. Click Next to automatically search… You will see the panel like this:

If you can find your media center, select your KBOX, then click Next !!!

If No media center found, enter the manually configuration mode, input the parameters which
are declared as step 2c) above.

e. Connected. Ready to play !!!
KBOX – Smart Remote Database Synchronizing
In order to fulfill all functions of Smart Remote and KBOX, customers need to synchronize the song list
database between KBOX and Smart Remote. Please take a notice that, this step does not download heavy
database such as multimedia files to your phone – it just synchronizes general information for Smart Remote.
1. Open your Smart Remote, then select/double check your appropriate network for KBOX-Smart
Remote, (for example “KBOX (MikePC)” – in this demo guide)

2. Select your right KBOX (for example, in this demo case, it is “KBOX (Mike PC)”)
3. When KBOX-Smart Remote is connected – the main screen leads to:

Then “single tab” on the icon which is showed by the red-arrow as below:
Next, select “Update database” option:

Just wait for downloading the karaoke song list… (The databases are included our default MIDI song list and
your VOB song list –please review how to import your own VOB songs from external devices).

Chapter 3 – Karaoke Features
After getting acquainted with the KBOX configuration, Remote and KBOX connections, you can start the
journey of KBOX features. You can play a MIDI/VOB song, reach a specific karaoke functions easily. This
chapter will present all karaoke and smart remote features.

Karaoke Auto Hide Keyboard
In order to maximize the benefits of KBOX, we highly recommend you to use KBOX Smart Remote attach
with KBOX System. However, in some impossible cases – you can play KBOX system without Smart Remote.
Our system keyboard will be useful in this situation.

Search Song, Reserve Songs, Insert Songs and Favorite Songs
You can search a song by click on
icon on KBOX or search function from Kbox Smart Remote.
Moreover, you can fast select your favorite songs by clicking on
icon. You only add your songs to favorite
list by smart remote. Try to use our KBOX smart remote to maximize a lot of playing benefits – it’s very simple,
you can quickly discover more exciting features for yourself.
Reserving within KBOX is unlimited. You can search and reserve unlimited number of songs. However, if you
want to insert your song into the top of playing queue – please use your KBOX Remote (Insert option) and if
you want to add your song to favorite list, also use your KBOX Remote (Favorite option).
Tempo and Tone Adjustment
You only change song’s tempo and tone for default midi database. KBOX system cannot support tempo and
tone adjustment for your external VOB files.
To apply tempo and tone adjustment, customer just use the function keys on KBOX or KBOX Smart Remote.

Our KBOX solution supports both Windows OS and Android (4.4 and above - ARM architecture).
Regarding the android platform based on intel x86, we are planning to test and provide be-ta

Problems FAQ
1. I got error message “Uh, Oh, cannot load sqlite3.dll, exiting…” while I
started KBOX on my Windows 7- 64 bit ?
-
Try to update “Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86)”. Here is the
URL for your update this issue:

Select only file “vcredist_x86.exe” for your Windows7-64bit. Install this
package, the re-open your KBOX again.
2. KBOX-Windows: After registering, the application has stopped
working ?
-
Try to close the program, then restart program under Administrator
permission:
-
Right click on “KBOX shortcut”
-
Run as Administrator

3. I always get “Security code invalid” when I activate my KBOX ?
Try to:
-
Type your security code exactly. The security code is exactly 8 digits.
-
Your both sides (registration website mykbox.com and your KBOX) are
connected to internet.
-
If your KBOX cannot reach internet, you may receive this error message
forever.
4. My KBOX is empty song. Cannot search any song by search function ?
-
Try to use our karaoke update plugin to update newest karaoke database
(Config/Add-Ons/My-Ad-ons/Program Add-ons/Update Karaoke – Run).
After update karaoke database, connect your KBOX Remote to KBOX, then
synchronizing the song list again (See how to synchronize the song list from
KBOX to KBOX Remote at “KBOX – Smart Remote Database Synchronizing”).
5. My KBOX Remote cannot connect to KBOX ?

Check the network infrastructure first.
-
Check the network configuration at KBOX side (Username, password, port, IP
Address).
-
Check the network configuration at KBOX Remote side (Username, password,
port, KBOX IP Address).
-
Your firewall setting (if YES), sometime your firewall can block several port
ranges that will prevent the connection between KBOX and KBOX Remote.

Don’t use some very popular ports because this may lead to the network
conflict, for example: 21, 80, 8080… Instead, you can use 8181, 8282, 8081,.. :)
6. My KBOX has a completed database, however KBOX Remote’s song
list is blank???

Try to check your KBOX Remote connection whether it is connected to KBOX ?
-
If both connected, try to synchronize the song list from KBOX to KRemote
(Review KBOX – Smart Remote Database Synchronizing)
7. I cannot configure my VOB list for my own VOB files ?
-
Try to check your external device
-
Try to import the right VOB Path from KBOX
-
Try to re-synchronize database from KBOX to Remote
-
Remember change tab “VOB” instead of tab “MIDI” on KBOX Remote.
8. How to extract audio output for my professional amplifier system ?

There are many ways to extract audio for external audio device.

10. After login by my Google/Facebook account on Chrome browser, the
activation page redirected to a blank page ?

Try to use another browser such as Microsoft Edge.

If you only has Chrome browser, please select “clear all the item from the
beginning of time”: cookie, browsing history, cached, hosted app data and
content licenses. After applying this process, the problem will be overcome.
