Annual Auction will Look and Feel
Different – Don’t Miss It!
Several months ago the Chamber’s membership
was polled and the response was in support of going
green and sending out our newsletter electronically.
Welcome to our first edition!
The look will evolve as we all learn a new process of
communicating to you. We will be moving to a bit of a
different format in the coming months, but wanted to
get this to you now because there is a lot of news to
share.
News delivery will be much faster as we eliminate the
process of labeling, sorting and mailing it to you. Plus
you will have the opportunity to include inserts or have
advertisements in the publication. Best of all, it will be
much more colorful and succinct than the paper
edition.
We will remind you about each issue and they will be
posted on the website so you may refer back to any
issue. We also welcome your feedback. Please let us
know what you like, want more or less of, or any
suggestions you may have to help improve it. Call us

The Chamber’s annual auction will be Saturday, November 7, at Edgewater Arms' beautiful, waterfront
clubhouse. This year’s theme is “Cool Sunsets & Hot
Jazz – An Evening of Casual Elegance.” We wanted a
waterfront location to let a beautiful Dunedin sunset set
the tone, and that’s exactly what we’ve got. You’ll be
able to sit outside over the water of St. Joseph Sound
or stroll out on the newly refurbished piers. The setting
is incredible!
Last year’s auction at beautiful Mease Manor set the
tone for this one. Guests wanted more time to socialize, sip cool drinks, nosh on great food from area
restaurants, and relax with one another. There will only
be a few live auction items this year with most of the
gifts being awarded on the silent auction, plus there will
be some added treats to keep the evening fresh and
fun.
Enjoy music, entertainment, a great sunset, complimentary specialty cocktails, beer and wine for the first
hour, a cash bar thereafter, and lots of time to enjoy old
and new friends. Tickets are lower than past years at
$20 per person pre-registered, $30 at the door.
Promote your business and donate an item to the
event. Be sure we have your business’ info, business
cards, etc. Plus there are wonderful sponsorship
opportunities available. Our special thanks to Graphic

Marketing Tips and Strategies the
Focus of Next Quarterly Lunch
When is the last time you did a marketing audit or
review of your marketing practices for your business?

Dunedin Promoted During Summer Months on TV!
Thanks to the partners participating in
Dunedin’s Tourism Marketing Committee, known as “Visit Dunedin,” a
commercial aired in Pinellas,
Hillsborough and Pasco Counties promoting the many reasons to visit
Dunedin.
The 30-second spot aired on multiple
channels and showed off Caladesi Island, the Blue Jays, shopping and dining,
and the Dunedin Fine Art Museum. It
was designed to draw visitors staying in
the Bay Area to our community, as well
as area residents. More and more
Floridians planned “staycations” this
year and the goal was to put Dunedin
into their mix of places to check out
locally.
The commercial complements the
rack brochure that is in over 700 locations in the same tri-county area.
Thanks to the City of Dunedin, the Downtown Dunedin Merchants Association,
the Toronto/Dunedin Blue Jays, Peter
Kreuziger (Bon Appetit), and our Cham-
ber, funds for these two important projects
were raised. Plus our funds for the commercial were matched dollar for dollar
through a special marketing program for
area chambers of commerce through
Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, the County’s
Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The commercial was created by our
City’s own television station, headed by
Courtney King, with coordination by Bill
Francisco of AdSharp. Special thanks to
Bill and Susan Strachan, Strachan’s
Homemade Ice Cream & Desserts; Bert
& Jeanne Halle (Kina Kouture); and Peter
Kreuziger (Bon Appetit) for providing
shooting locations. Thanks to Patrick

State Welcome Center Staff Coming to Pinellas County
& Dunedin
On Tuesday, September 22, a very special group of visitors will become more
familiar with Pinellas County and Dunedin and all that our beautiful destination offers.
Thanks to the folks at Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, our County’s Convention & Visitors
Bureau, welcome center staff from the State’s I-75 and I-95 welcome centers will be
here on a familiarization tour.
On Sept. 22, they’ll arrive in Dunedin around 4 p.m. for a welcome at the Chamber,
then they’re off to do a little downtown shopping, followed by dinner at several
restaurants, an ice cream at Strachan’s, and a chance to see our fantastic sunset
from the marina.
When they get back to their positions at the Welcome Centers, they’ll be better
equipped to help the thousands of visitors crossing our State Line every day who are
looking for information about our area.

“Florida Encounter” will be visiting Dunedin in November. This group of meeting planners will be coming to
Dunedin for a DineAround and also learning about the
many reasons for sending their business and clients
here. More to come in the next editions of the newsletter
on that special group.

Jackpots Arcade – A Place to Play and Mingle

and introduced the concept to the
crowd.
Members had a unique opportunity
to play video arcade games at the
Business Before Hours at Jackpots
Arcade.
Host and owner Ed Mass, and his
manager, Diane Cushman and her
staff, warmly welcomed everyone and
showed anyone who wanted to try
their luck how to use the arcade
games. Just about everyone there
that morning took a turn, some winning and some losing, but all having a
good time.

Chamber Day with the Bucs –

With football season upon us once again, it’s that
wonderful time of year when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a big part of most Sundays. This year,
Sunday, December 13, will be “Dunedin Day with the
Buccaneers” and discount tickets will be available for
several seating levels.
What’s best about this deal is that Chamber members can take advantage of the discounted rates for any

3 Chamber Tradeshow Provided Summer Promotion
Members of the Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Safety Harbor Chambers
had an opportunity to network with one another at the annual summer
tradeshow at the Conmy Center.
The facility was the perfect location once again and provided easy
access, lots of parking, and a great atmosphere. The economy and
several other events took a bit of a toll on the attendance, but those
there were able to promote their products and services and generate some
new business and leads.

A great turnout of members filled the area put aside for the
Chamber event. All the extra seating made it particularly
comfortable for our guests.
7 Chamber “Summer Business to Business Expo” Pays Off for
Participants
Attendees at the Summer Splash program had lots of good things to say about the event, particularly the number
and varied types of exhibitors, many visitors, and great food.
The event, sponsored by the Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor
and Upper Tampa Bay Chambers was a success, as well as a fun event. The exhibitors offered lots of free
information, prizes, goodies and contacts.
The event’s sponsors also deserve a special thanks for making it possible: St. Petersburg Times, HCI, Dunedin

If you visit the Chamber’s website (www.dunedin-fl.com) you’ll notice a
new symbol next to each individual business listing. This symbol means
that anyone with a speech or hearing impairment may now reach your
business through a relay operator.
Sponsored by Purple Communications, this “text relay” button on your
Chamber website listing allows anyone with hearing loss or a speech
impediment to contact you through your regular phone line. The relay
user types their side of the conversation, which the operator then reads
aloud to someone at your business. When you respond, the operator
types your spoken words for the relay user, enabling them to read the
spoken side of the conversation.
We’re proud to have been the first Chamber in the Country to add the
relay button to our website. It was a natural addition as far as we were
concerned and good for everyone. Our webmaster, Dan Zucker (Zucker
& Zucker Creative Marketing) had the button installed on every members’
listing and the system up and working in a matter of minutes. We’re very
appreciative to him for his quick response.
There are over 300,000 hearing impaired residents in the State of
Florida alone. This service is free to your business, as well as to any
callers who may use it. It also reinforces the fact that Dunedin is a very
inclusive and welcoming community.
