Network since 2002.
Peloquin is the football
color analyst and is the
primary play-by-play voice
for women’s basketball
and softball.
Under his guidance, coverage of women’s
basketball and softball has increased to nearly 100
live events since 2007-08, with plans for even further
expansion. A broadcasting veteran since 1991, Peloquin hosts
the always entertaining morning sports show,
“Thinking Out Loud,” which airs Monday-Friday from
7-9 a.m. on ESPN 1420 AM.

Louisiana Basketball 2011-12 Preview
In each of the last two seasons Errol Rogers has led the Ragin’ Cajuns women’s
basketball program on a steady course of improvement. In 2009-10 the team
improved from three wins to nine and then in 2010-11 recorded the most wins
during his tenure with 11.
Rogers has to like his chances for a third consecutive season of increasing
the amount of victories as he guides the Cajuns into 2011-12. He returns nine
letterwinners and for the first time in his five seasons at the helm his entire
coaching staff remained intact.
The experience on the court combined with the continuity of the coaching staff
might be the recipe that brings about the first winning campaign of the Rogers
era.
The cornerstone for the Ragin’ Cajuns is senior Mercedes Johnson. Last
season’s leading scorer, at 14.4 points per game, Johnson is one of the premier
post players in the Sun Belt Conference. A second team All-Sun Belt selection a
year ago, Johnson tallied double-digits in 22 of 28 games played.
Johnson enters her senior season as one of 14 players in school history to reach
1,000 career points. Her 1,196 points are well off the school standard of 2,157 by Kim
Perrot (1986-90), but she’s only 551 points shy of second place (Lisa Merritt, 1,747).
Johnson’s tag team partner in the post is fellow senior Kemi Rotibi. A junior
college transfer, Rotibi burst onto the scene last season and provided UL with a
strong defensive presence in the paint, ranking second in the Sun Belt in blocks
per game.
Louisiana will need to have players step up to replace the scoring efforts of
Jasmine Barnes (9.8 ppg), Lyndra Bell (8.5 ppg) and Danyell Oliver (6.7 ppg). Barnes
and Bell, together, combined to account for 227 field goal makes in 2010-11.
Nicole Morris and Bianca Davis are the returners in the backcourt, both sharing
time at point guard. Morris led the squad with 56 assists last season.
The incoming recruiting class is highlighted by Lafayette-based St. Thomas More
High School teammates Brooklyn Arceneaux and Robbie Brown. Arceneaux, the
Class 5A MVP, and Brown helped STM claimed the Class 5A title last spring.

women’s basketball. The UL Athletic Media
Relations Office has produced the 2011-12
women’s basketball team guide to assist in your
coverage of the Ragin’ Cajuns. If you have any
questions, comments or concerns, please feel
free to contact any member of the UL SID staff.
We look forward to working with you throughout
the season.
Parking
6
• Cajundome: Media parking at the Cajundome is
located on the north side of the arena (adjacent
to Congress Street). Parking lot entrance number
8 must be used exclusively. Passes must be
displayed in the front windshield at all times
(you will not be allowed in the parking lot area
without a parking pass).
• EARL K. LONG GYM: There is no assigned parking
for home games at Earl K. Long Gym on campus.
Media are free to park in any parking lot adjacent
to the gym.
Media Services
• The Louisiana Athletic Media Relations staff
provides the working news media with a media
workroom with the sole purpose of writing and
transmitting stories.
• It is located on the ground level of the north
quadrant of the Cajundome. Access to the press
room is limited to those with working credentials
ONLY.
• The media workroom opens approximately two
hours prior to tipoff.
• A pre-game meal and drinks will be available 90
minutes prior to tipoff.
• Phone lines are available in the media workroom
on a first-come first-serve basis.
• Pre-game notes, programs, media guides and
statistics along with other information will be
provided to all media members.
• Halftime and final statistics, along with a complete
play-by-play will be provided. Unofficial and

official stats will be indicated upon release.
• Louisiana and the United States Basketball
Writers Association jointly remind you that
the Earl K. Long Gym and Cajundome press
row area is a working press facility and that
cheering for either team will not be tolerated.
Violators will be asked to leave by security
personnel.
Phone Lines/Internet
• One phone line is available for the visiting team’s
radio/SID. Requests for additional phone lines
must be made at least six weeks in advance to
AT&T. A high-speed wired internet connection
at Earl K. Long Gym and wireless internet at the
Cajundome are available for visiting radio/SID
use.
Photography
• Louisiana will follow NCAA and Sun Belt
Conference rules regarding media representatives
photographing the games.
• Photographers are and will be limited to working
the designated space along the end line of the
playing court.
• NO credentials will be permitted to shoot from
the sidelines. All photographers must remain
seated on the floor areas directly in front of fans
along the baseline.
• Flash cameras ARE NOT permitted for use during
Louisiana games.
Post-Game Press Conference
• It is the policy of head coach Errol Rogers
and UL that the locker room is closed to ALL
media after all games, home and road. For
home games, Coach Rogers will make post-game
comments outside the locker room.
• On the road, media members can visit with Rogers
outside the locker room or in the home team’s
interview area (if so requested).
• Postgame player interviews are also conducted
outside the locker room at home.
Interviews
• Head coach Errol Rogers will be available for
phone and in-person interviews on most nongame weekdays during the season.
• Please coordinate all requests at least one day in
advance through Cory Weigel in the UL Athletic
Media Relations office at (337) 482-6329.
• Coach Rogers will, depending on his schedule,
be available for brief comments following the
conclusion of practice each day.
• On the road, Coach Rogers will be available at
team practices and and in the lobby of the hotel
on the day prior to the game. Coach Rogers WILL
NOT conduct any interviews, home or away, prior
to a game on game day.
• UL players will be available for interviews after
most practices if interviews requested 48 hours
in advance through Cory Weigel in the Athletic
Media Relations office. NO INTERVIEWS will be
permitted once the players are on the court to
begin practice.
• After-practice phone interviews may also be
requested as well. NO players will be available
for interviews on the road prior to the game.
The team apartments/dorm rooms, locker room
and training room ARE OFF LIMITS to media
representatives AT ALL TIMES.
Practices
• Media members are asked to please contact Cory
Weigel at (337) 482-6329 for home games and
(317) 658-2898 for road games before planning
to attend any practice session. Practices at home
are usually conducted at Earl K. Long Gym. Matt
Hebert will cover Sun Belt Conference road
games. Hebert can be reached at (337) 288-6023.
• Interviews will be allowed at the practice site, for
non-game days, but must be conducted well in
advance before practice begins or immediately
after practice has concluded.

Media Guidlines
Media Credentials
• All requests for press, photo and broadcast credentials for 2011-12 UL
home basketball games must be made in writing AT LEAST FIVE DAYS IN
ADVANCE of each game OR prior to the season if all home game credentials
are requested.
• All requests should be e-mailed to Cory Weigel, Louisiana women’s
basketball contact, at [email protected].
• Credentials will be mailed (time permitting), but credentials which cannot
be mailed will be left at the Media Will Call table located at the entrance of
Earl K. Long Gym.
• During the week, credentials may be picked up in the Sports Information
Office located in the Cox Communications Athletic Center, Room 140.
• Media credentials will be issued to working media members only.

Below are a few guidelines:
• All members of the media must request credentials IN WRITING through
women’s basketball contact Cory Weigel (preferred via e-mail).
• Requests are honored from sports editors of daily newspapers and sports
directors of television and radio stations.
• Requests from individuals not employed by a media outlet WILL NOT
be considered.
• Requests from radio stations must come from the sports director of that
radio station.
• No interviews will be granted for practices on the
day of a game.
• Still and video cameras will be allowed during the
first 20 minutes of practice ONLY.
Radio Rights
IMPORTANT DATES
• One (1) official radio network for the visiting team
must be designated by the team’s athletic director
or media relations director.
• Visiting radio stations should coordinate all
credential needs through Cory Weigel. Only
those working on the radio broadcast will be
given credentials for that area.
• The visiting radio will be reserved a maximum of
two seats next to the team bench at Earl K. Long
Gym.
• Radio networks wishing to broadcast should also
contact Jay Walker, Director of the UL Sports
Network, at (337) 233-7003 or via e-mail at jay@
espn1420.com.
• Only the “official” radio outlet of the visiting
team is permitted to originate a live broadcast
without written permission of the UL Athletics
Department.
• Broadcast and telecast arrangements must be
made no later than 10 days prior to the day of
a game.
• One broadcast line will be provided at Earl K.

Season Story Lines
• Senior Mercedes Johnson closed out another successful season, leading the Cajuns with 14.4
points per game and 6.2 rebounds per contest. Johnson ranked sixth in the conference in scoring
average and also ranked sixth with a 3.3 offensive rebound average.
• The junior from Houston became the 14th player in UL history to reach 1,000 points and currently
sits fifth with 1,196 points in 87 career games played. Johnson was named second team All-Sun
Belt in March and earned second team All-Louisiana accolades in early April.
• The Ragin’ Cajuns said goodbye to three seniors who had contributed significantly to the UL
women’s basketball program. Jasmine Barnes, Lyndra Bell and D’Mya Clay closed out their
careers against South Alabama. The trio combined to play in 350 games. All three rank inside the
top-10 in career games played.

Errol Rogers was named the 11th head women’s basketball coach in
school history on May 2, 2007.
The University of Louisiana graduate spent the previous four seasons as an
assistant coach at Mississippi State with his primary responsibilities including
on-court teaching and assisting with recruiting. The Bulldogs enjoyed a 12win turnaround last season and advanced to the WNIT quarterfinals – their
second WNIT trip in the last three seasons.
Rogers’ eight wins in his rookie season tied him for the most by a first-year
women’s head coach at UL since 1988.
He helped seniors Onna Charles and Sonora Edwards both top 1,000 career
points in their final campaign.
Rogers also tutored the rise of Alicia McDaniel (2005-08). McDaniel finished
her career as only the second player (Kim Perrot, 1987-90) in UL women’s
basketball history to post at least 750 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists and
150 steals in a career.
In 2009-10, he guided the Cajuns to a six-win improvement, then in 201011 reached the highest win total in his tenure at UL with 11. The 11 wins
marked the most for the Cajuns since the program made a run to the NCAA
Tournament in 2006-07.
Under his watch, Mercedes Johnson earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors
and became just the 14th player in school history to reach 1,000 points
(currently sits fifth with 1,196).

Rogers has produced three All-Sun Belt selections as Cajuns top boss – Alicia
McDaniel (2007-08), Alexis Green (2008-09) and Johnson (2010-11).
Rogers’ collegiate experience also includes four years as an assistant coach at
Bethune-Cookman College from 1999-2003 where he was in charge of developing
game strategies, conditioning and training, recruiting, and arranging travel and
lodging accommodations. B-CC enjoyed back-to-back winning seasons in his final two years, marking the
best two campaigns for the Wildcats in the past decade.
Prior to his stint as an assistant coach on the collegiate level, Rogers spent eight
years as a high school head coach in Louisiana. He accumulated a career record of
200-76 on the high school level in the state of Louisiana and was named Coach of
the Year six times during his career.
Rogers’ final high school stop was at Lafayette High, leading his team to a district
co-championship, the first in school history.
He was the head girl’s coach from 1993-98 at Opelousas Catholic High School.
Coincidently, during nearly the same period, Cajuns head men’s basketball coach,
Robert Lee was the head boy’s basketball coach at Opelousas High School from
1992-96.
Rogers tallied 120 victories with OCHS, as the Vikings were named district
champions twice and had appearances in the playoffs all five years.
He started coaching in the high school ranks from 1991-93 at the Holy Rosary
Institute. Rogers advanced to the state semifinals with his girl’s team, leading HRI to
its first Sweet 16 appearance in school history. The 1993 team produced the most
wins in school history.
Rogers got his start in coaching at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Middle School
during his tenure from 1984-91. In addition to coaching the girl’s basketball team,
he also had stints as the athletic director and head football coach. While at the
helm of the basketball team, Immaculate Heart was Catholic league champions four
times.
In 1985, Rogers founded the Acadiana Stars, an AAU girl’s basketball club in
Lafayette. He was instrumental in helping bring the first AAU national championship
to Lafayette for girls 14 and under in 1997. Former WNBA Miami Sol standout Shari
Sam went through his program.
A native of Lake Charles, La., Rogers is married to the former Damita Nabers. The
couple has six children, five daughters, Dominique, Desiree, Danielle, Erin and Erika
and one son, Errol, Jr.

Lori Morris joined the Ragin’ Cajuns women’s
basketball coach staff prior to the 2008-09 season.
Morris joined the Cajuns with over 20-years of
coaching experience. Morris’ primary responsibilities
will include academics, team travel and defense, as
well as, recruiting.
Most recently, Morris served as the head women’s
basketball coach at Southwestern Junior College.
While at Southwestern Junior College, Morris was
responsible for conditioning, weights, study hall,
grade checks and player development. In addition,
she was responsible for breaking down film and
scouting. Morris taught Basketball Theory, Basketball
Activity, Film and Intercollegiate Basketball at SWJC.
She was involved with the community and opened
a basketball player development class to high school
players, along with, mini-clinics to local high school
teams.
Prior to her stint at Southwestern Junior College,
Morris spent 20 years as the head coach of the
Montgomery High School girl’s basketball team
from 1987-07. She helped MHS to the Southbay
Championship in 2007, earning California
Interscholastic Federation Coach of the Year
accolades. Montgomery finished as the California
Interscholastic Federation Division two runner-ups.
Before assuming the head coaching position, she
served as the MHS assistant coach during the 198687 season.
While at Montgomery High School, she was named
the 2006 High School Sports Association Head
Coach’s Award. She helped MHS to the Mesa League
Championships in 2002 and 2005 and Metro League
Championships in 1990, 1995, 1996 and 1997. Morris
was the CIF Female Coach of the Year in 1998.
Morris developed 18 players who went on to play
at either the junior college or university level using
basketball as a vehicle to continue their education.
Morris received her bachelor’s degree in language
arts from University of San Diego in 1984. She earned
her master’s degree in education with an emphasis in
administration from Azusa Pacific University in 1990.
Nic Jeffers began his tenure as an assistant coach
for Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball during the 201011 season. Jeffers joined the staff with eight years of
head coaching experience at the high school level.
Jeffers primary responsibilities include film
breakdown and exchange, equipment management,
scouting, recruiting and assisting in the
implementation of offensive and defensive schemes.
Most recently, Jeffers served as the head girls’
basketball coach at 5A Comeaux High School in
Lafayette. While at Comeaux, Jeffers was responsible
for overseeing every aspect of running a high school
program. Player development, scouting, fundraising,
scheduling, conditioning, transportation, budgeting
and a host of other responsibilities were attended to
by Jeffers.
Jeffers led one of the more consistent basketball
programs in the Acadiana area throughout his stint
in high school. During his eight years at Comeaux,
Jeffers overall coaching record was 162-101. His
teams averaged 20 wins per season during his eight
year tenure with Comeaux.
After taking over a program that had won only
three games the season prior to his arrival, by his
third season the team went on to set a school record
for wins in a season with a 26-9 record.
The program went from nine wins in his first season
to 26 win seasons three times in the next seven years.
Jeffers also led Comeaux to six consecutive state
playoff appearances from 2004-2010.
Jeffers received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology
from Louisiana in 2002.
Jeffers is originally from Opelousas, La and is
a lifelong resident of the Acadiana area. Jeffers is
married to Amanda Mosley Jeffers and has one
daughter, Marlee Mae Jeffers.
Jaye Nayreau came to the University of Louisiana
in the Fall of 2010 after spending one season as an
assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi.
While at USM, he worked with all aspects of
recruiting, while assisting with the Lady Eagles
basketball camps.
Nayreau worked with perimeter players at USM,
while also scouting opponents. In addition, he was
the community relations and service liaison for the
program last season.
Prior to his work at USM, Nayreau was an assistant
coach at Stephen F. Austin during the 2007-08 and
2008-09 season. At SFA, his duties included day-today operations, on-the-floor coaching, recruiting and
scouting. In addition to his coaching requirements,
Nayreau was the Lumberjacks academic coordinator,
community service organizer and summer camp
liaison.
Prior to coaching at Stephen F. Austin, Nayreau was
an assistant coach at Dodge City Community College
(2005-07) where he was involved with every aspect
of the women’s program, from in-game coaching
to scouting and game preparation. He also handled
schedule preparations and served as student-athlete
advisor for the team.
Before his stop in Dodge City, Nayreau spent the
2004-05 season on the Saint Louis University staff as
a graduate assistant.
Nayreau began his coaching career at Sam Houston
State, where he was a student assistant during the
2001-02 season.
Nayreau, a native of Hockley, Texas, received his
bachelor’s degree from SHSU in December 2002.
Two years later Nayreau graduated from Baylor with
a master’s in sports psychology. Nayreau has also
completed work toward a doctorate in counseling.
