SKYPASS Program
SKYPASS is Korean Air’s frequent flyer program that was established to provide valuable
customers with travel awards and special benefits. SKYPASS members may take

1. How to Join

Eligibility
· Any person may enroll in the SKYPASS
program. There are no membership fees.
· Any person under 12 years of age is eligible for
SKYPASS Junior membership.

SKYPASS Junior
· Children under the age of 12 are eligible for SKYPASS Junior membership. SKYPASS
Junior members earn the same miles as adult. (75% of actual adult traveled miles are
accrued before June 30, 2011.)
· When SKYPASS Junior members reach 12 years of age, their membership will
automatically convert to SKYPASS membership. The membership account numbers will
remain the same and the balance of accrued mileage will carry over.

· Membership card will be mailed within 2-4 weeks from receipt of the completed
application at the SKYPASS center.
· For temporary use, the SKYPASS image card can be printed via the internet.

▶ Conditions to Maintain Morning Calm Club membership
· During the two-year Morning Calm Club membership period, fulfillment of any one of the
following conditions will automatically extend the membership validity for the next two
years.
- Accumulation of additional 30,000 or more flown miles on Korean Air
- Additional 20 qualifying flight segments** on Korean Air
- Accumulation of additional 30,000 or more flown miles on Korean Air and partner companies
combined, provided that at least 20,000 miles or 15 qualifying flight segments** are
on Korean Air. (This is a limited-time condition effective until 2012.)
· Failure to fulfill any one of the above conditions will result in the conversion of the
membership status to the base level.
· After the membership has been reverted to the base level, if the member fulfills any one of
the above conditions within a two-year time frame, the membership will convert back to
Morning Calm Club status.

▶ Morning Calm Club Lounge Benefit Information
· Morning Calm Club members are entitled to access KAL Prestige Class Lounges operated
by Korean Air only, up to four times during their two-year membership period. (Such benefit
is only applicable during membership period.)
· Lounge access is available on the day of the travel and may be subject to lounge
availability. (Travel must be on a Korean Air flight and the ticket must have been issued
with a Korean Air flight number. Lounge access is not available if travel is on a SkyTeam
airline or other partner airline.)
· Morning Calm Club members may invite accompanying passenger(s) traveling on a Korean
Air flight. Each lounge access per passenger will count as one usage.

1) - Full-fare tickets are designated with Y, YO2, YD, and Y2 as the fare basis.
- Request must be made in advance at least 24 hours prior to departure.
- For Korean Air/Air France, this applies to long-haul flights only (flights that are over 6 hours for
Korean Air).
2) SkyTeam Elite Plus member can use a SkyTeam lounge regardless of boarding class when
traveling international via SkyTeam flight. One companion, who is on the same flight with same
itinerary as you, may use the lounge as well. However, there may be restrictions for using a
lounge on codeshare flights operated by non-SkyTeam airlines.

members can use Morning Calm counter. (For Elite members, check-in service is provided at the
next higher class counters where Morning Calm counters are not available.)

depending on region of departure (except for flights operated by Korean Air, to/from the U.S.,
U.S. Territories, Canada and South America)
- Elite Plus members : Additional 20 kg(44 pounds) or one additional piece of luggage is allowed
depending on region of departure.
- Restrictions may apply depending on the airline and the itinerary. For further information, please
inquire to the airline. (For example, an additional piece does not apply to Delta Air Lines in
domestic flights – travel within and between United States, Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands, and
Puerto Rico – and itineraries that include any travel to/from Brazil. However, when transferring
between Korean Air’s transpacific routes - ticketed in Korean Air flight - and the destinations
of Delta Air Lines mentioned above, one additional piece is applicable for SkyTeam Elite Plus.)

- Please provide your SKYPASS membership number when making reservations or
purchasing tickets, and present your SKYPASS membership card at the time of airport
check-in.
- Your flown miles will automatically accrue on your account once you arrive at your
destination. (For flights on partner airlines, it may take up to 3-14 working days from the
date of travel.)
- For any missing mileage, you may request credit within one year from the date of
travel. You may submit your request via Korean Air website or submit the ticket receipt
and boarding pass to any Korean Air office. Upon verification, your account will be
adjusted accordingly. (Please retain your ticket receipt and boarding pass until you
have confirmed mileage credit on your account.)

· Mileage accrual for China Airlines is applicable as of September 28, 2011 based on the
date of travel.
· SKYPASS mileage cannot be earned for booking classes that are not included in the
accrual chart.
· Mileage earned in Korean Air’s SKYPASS program on or after July 1, 2008 has a validity
of ten years and any unredeemed mileage will expire. Mileage earned on or before June
30, 2008 will not expire. The ten-year validity is calculated from the date of travel on
Korean Air and partner airlines.
· Mileage accrual begins from the date of enrollment in the SKYPASS program; any flights
taken prior to the enrollment are not eligible for accurual.
· Mileage will not be credited for flights on complimentary tickets, award tickets, 50% or
more discounted tickets (including Infant tickets), or any other special discount tickets.
· Mileage will not be credited for travel via chartered flights on partner airlines as well as rail
and sea travel offered via Air France.
· Mileage may be credited to only one frequent flyer program regardless of a member’s
enrollment in multiple programs offered by various SkyTeam partner airlines.
· Mileage accrued on a frequent flyer account of one airline cannot be transferred to an
account of another airline.
· To prevent potential omission of mileage credit, please ensure that the English spelling of
the passenger’s name on the ticket is identical to that registered on his/her SKYPASS
membership account.
· Mileage accrual with Korean Air and/or partner airlines is based on the actual distance
traveled and the class of purchased seat.
· Mileage accrual for travel on codeshare flights may vary depending on the terms and
conditions of the operating carrier.

Redeeming Miles
1. How to Use Awards
An airline's Frequent Flyer Program (FFP) aims at providing a variety of benefits to its
members, including opportunities to accumulate mileage and redeem awards. At the same
time, the airline benefits by enhancing customer loyalty.
In general, award travel is designed for members to take advantage of seats that become
available near/at the time of departure. However, airlines help its members plan their flight
schedules with ease by pre-allocating a limited number of award seats, having considered
seasonal load factors, dates, and routes in accordance with precise past data.
Generally during high demand seasons, it is difficult to secure reservations even for full-fare
tickets because flight capacities are reached quickly. Therefore, it is highly recommended
that members redeem SKYPASS awards for flights with sufficient seats and of less
demand.

Members can redeem miles for the following awards:
- Korean Air flight awards
- Korean Air upgrade awards
- Airline partners flight awards
- Special award programs
(e.g., Miles-to-Hotel Award, Round-the-world Award, etc.)

Members may endorse awards to the following family members:
- Grandparents, parents, spouse, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, parents-inlaw; sons-in-law and daughters-in-law
- Family members must also be SKYPASS members.
To register family members, please complete the SKYPASS Family Registration Form
and submit it along with a copy of government-issued family register as a supporting
document.

Family Plan
- Family Plan is a program that allows members to supplement insufficient miles by
using mileage accumulated by family members.
- Applicable family members to this program are same as endorse awards, and they
must also be registered SKYPASS members.
- Enrollment in the Family Plan must be completed prior to award redemption. To
enroll, please complete the Family Plan application form and submit with photocopies
of government-issued family register as a supporting document.
※ In case of a change in family relations such as death, divorce, etc., a request must
be submitted to Korean Air so as to exclude such member from the Family Plan.
※ In order to maintain prompt check-in service, Family Plan enrollments at airports is
restricted.

How to Use Awards
- Bonus awards can be issued at Korean Air’s website, Smart Phone application,

- Any person or third party acting on behalf of a member for application must submit the
SKYPASS membership card and picture ID of the member, along with his/her own
picture ID.
- Please register for an internet ID to redeem online and mobile bonus.
- When requesting an award, you must pay the applicable taxes and fuel surcharges.

◆ Seasonality
Seasonality is determined upon each one-way flight segment based on its date of boarding.
- In case of an international travel via Korea, the seasonality of each one-way flight segment shall be
determined upon the date of boarding of the first flight segment of each one-way direction.
- Separate tickets will be issued for each one-way direction if seasonality or class is different for each
one-way direction.
- In case of a change in seasonality due to a change in boarding date after issuance of an award
ticket, the applicable mileage shall be deducted or credited.

Award Validity
Korean Air award travel has a validity of 1 year from the date of issuance, and the validity
can not be extended. Korean Air upgrade award is valid for as long as the ticket is valid.

In the event an award reservation is not booked in the proper award class, ticket issuance at
Korean Air offices or boarding at airports may be denied. Please inform our staff that you
are traveling with mileage awards when you book or change a reservation.

SkyTeam Award
Award travel on SkyTeam partner airlines is subject to both SkyTeam Award rules and
Airline Partner Award rules.
Unused Award Ticket
Completely or partially unused award ticket may be returned for credit back to the member’s
account within 1 year of date of issuance. If the credit request is made after 1 year from the date
of issuance, a deduction of 10,000 miles will apply. Please contact a Korean Air representative for
further details.
3. Airline Partners Awards
▶ Tips for Partner Award Travel
① Reservation : Award travel on airline partners must be booked through a Korean Air
Reservation Center.
② Ticketing
- Award ticket must be issued at a Korean Air ticketing office and cannot be issued at airports.
- Award tickets will be issued only if all flight segments have confirmed status.
③ Application
- Award travel on airline partners applies only to round-trips.
- The departure and arrival cities must be of the same country.
- In case of an itinerary involving multiple classes, redemption mileage for the highest class
shall apply.
- Flight coupons must be used in sequence of issuance.
④ Change
- Changes to the entire itinerary will be permitted before the use of the ticket.
- After use, changes in only the carrier/flight numbers and/or dates will be permitted with
proper re-issuance of the ticket.
⑤ Validity : 1 year from the date of issuance
⑥ Mileage refund
- Partially used award tickets will not be eligible for mileage refund.
- Completely unused award tickets returned within 1 year of date of ticket issuance will be eligible for
full mileage refund.
- A deduction of 10,000 miles will apply for mileage refund requested after 1 year from the date of
ticket issuance.
⑦ Others
- No mileage discount will apply to infant or child award travel. If a seat is to be occupied by the
infant or child, the standard redemption mileage will apply.
- Redemption mileage, routes of operation, and flight schedules may be changed without prior
notice in accordance with the conditions and policies of each partner airline. Please contact a
Korean Air Reservation Center for further details.
SkyTeam Airline + SkyTeam Airline
Single SkyTeam Airline Partner
- Korea domestic segments must be issued separately.
- SkyTeam mileage award tickets to Korean Air’s Prestige Sleeper seat, First Class
Kosmo Suites and First Class (Kosmo) Sleeper seat will require additional miles for
redemption. (Please refer to the SkyTeam Award Travel charts for details.)
② Application
- Limited to a maximum of 8 flight segments.
- Flights must be direct between origin destination (stopover/transfer resulting from flight
connections will be permitted).
- No more than two flights in/out of each city and country shall be permitted in the entire
itinerary (excludes domestic flights).
- Itineraries will not be permitted to include both transatlantic and transpacific routes.
- Award using Family Plan is not applied (only mileage transfer to registered beneficiaries
is possible).
③ Stopover : Permitted twice in the entire itinerary (including destination).
④ Open Jaw : Permitted only once and will be considered as one stopover.
⑤ Blackout dates & ineligible flights for award travel

prior to departure, you need to have your ticket reissued at least 7 days prior to departure.
If you confirm your reservation within 10 days prior to departure, you need to have your
ticket reissued at least 1 day prior to departure.
- The validity of seat upgrade bonus is the same as that of your ticket. (When extending
the validity of a ticket, seat upgrade bonus is available for a maximum of 1 year.)
- The mileage used for seat upgrade is refundable only when the entire ticket is not used.
It is not refundable if any part of the ticket is used. If you request a refund 1 year after the
date of issuance, it is refunded after 10,000 miles are deducted.
- Any change in seat upgrade bonus mileage can be applied prior to use.
- Seat upgrade or airport standby registration for seat upgrade is not available on the
date of departure.
- Prior to departure, you are not allowed to redeem various mileages, provided by
SkyTeam airline partners for each route, for upgrade. Please contact our reservation
center for more details.
- Flight restriction period is subject to the regulations of each airline partner. The peak
season applies as the restriction period for Korean Air bonus tickets, and no upgrade is
available during this period.

Round-the-World Award program allows SKYPASS members to redeem miles for travel
around the world on flights operated by any of SkyTeam airlines.
KAL Lounge Award program allows SKYPASS members to redeem miles for access to
KAL Prestige Class Lounges operated by Korean Air.

1. Direction / Termination: Travel must continue in one global direction, either east-bound or
west-bound, and must end within the country of origin in a city no farther than the city of
original departure.
Example) Seoul - L.A. - Houston - New York - Paris - Hong Kong - Busan (O)
New York - Paris - Seoul - Tokyo - L.A. - New York - Boston (X)
2. Carriers / Flights : Traveling in the five regions noted above is permitted on flights
operated by any of the 14 carriers except on codeshare flights operated by nonSkyTeam carriers.
3. Stopovers : 6 stopovers are permitted with a maximum of 3 stopovers per one travel region
4. Open Jaw : Open Jaw is permitted and is counted as one stopover. Member is
responsible for any additional flight and transportation arrangements.
5. Redemption : Same deduction of mileage applies for adults, children, and infants
occupying seats.
6. Reservation must be made through Korean Air only. Ticket issuance and reservation
changes must also be handled through Korean Air only.
7. Blackout Dates : Award travel during blackout dates is not permitted.
8. Award tickets will be issued only if all flight segments have confirmed status.
9. Changes to flight numbers, dates, carriers, and routes are permitted before or after usage of ticket.
10. Validity : Award ticket has a validity of one year from the date of issuance. Extension is
not permitted.
11. Completely unused award ticket may be returned for credit back to the member’s
account (same as current SKYPASS rules). No mileage will be credited after
commencement of first flight segment.
12. 10% mileage discount (on two or more award tickets of same itinerary, class, and date
of issuance) does not apply to Round-the-World award travel.
13. Neither paid nor mileage redemption upgrades are permitted on Round-the-World
award tickets.
14. Other SKYPASS award rules and conditions may apply. For further details, please
contact a Korean Air Reservation Center or ticketing office.

Miles-to-Rent a car is a program that allows SKYPASS members to redeem miles for using
Hanjin rent-a-car in Jeju.
