SOLUTIONS FOR BALLISTIC PROTECTION
Customer needs
Bullet-resistant glazing is used to replace normal
glass on civilian armoured vehicles in order to protect
passengers by preventing the penetration of bullets
and other military threats through transparencies. The
thickness, weight and transparency of the glass differ
according to the level of protection required and are
regulated by international standards.

2. Anti-Spall Protection
In order to meet international standard requirements,
Saint-Gobain Sully offers different glass compositions
that take into consideration design peculiarities and
special requests from customers. Bullet-resistant glass
is offered as a combined solution:
- With a special anti-spall layer to prevent projection of
spalls into the cabin;
- With armoured steel inserts, which are embedded to
reinforce protection on side windows.
The anti-spall layer can be made of FAENAC® or
polycarbonate film depending on the customer’s needs.
1. Accurate Glass Composition
If a car manufacturer has avoided a complex vehicle
structure design, armoured steel inserts are used in
order to cover possible non-armoured areas where
holes may appear in the door.
Bullet-resistant glazing is composed of different types
of glass and interlayers.
