Blue Skies for our Children
Ever wished for a world where our children can enjoy
a free and sustainable future? At Honda, this vision
is nothing new for us. As pioneers of environmental
technologies, our engineers have been exploring
ways to make it happen for the past 40 years.
Today, sustainability is still top of our agenda. By
2020 we have pledged to cut CO2 emissions by
30% from all our global products, equipments and
corporate activities.
HondaJet
We have always done things differently at Honda.
Pursuing our dreams has always been central to what we
do and has led us to explore new innovations. HondaJet
was born from the power of these dreams, breaking with
conventional aerospace thinking and incorporating many
unique and revolutionary ideas.
We designed a jet that maximises comfort and space
without increasing its size, by mounting the engines over
the wings instead of at the rear of the fuselage as most
business jets. This may sound a little odd, but in fact it
is totally logical because this layout means the rear of
the fuselage no longer has to be designed to house and
support the engines. This has helped to maximise internal
space. This configuration also allows faster flight speeds
than other aircraft of its class, as well as greater fuel
efficiency and significant improvement in aerodynamic
performance by reducing drag.
ASIMO
What if we could create products that can help with
important tasks like assisting the elderly or a person
confined to a wheelchair? Or perform tasks that are
dangerous to humans, such as fighting fires or cleaning
up toxic spills? Back in 1986, our engineers made this
dream a reality when they created ASIMO: the world’s
most advanced humanoid robot. ASIMO cleverly
recreates human motion to walk and run on slopes
and uneven surfaces. It can make smooth turns, climb
stairs and pick up objects. ASIMO can even respond
to simple voice commands and recognise the faces
of a select group of individuals. And using its camera
eyes, ASIMO can even skillfully map its environment to
navigate around stationary and moving objects.
Robotic Lawnmower
As one of the world leaders in lawn mower technology
and advanced robotics, doesn’t it make sense that our
first commercial robotic product is a lawnmower? Miimo
is designed to fit right into your life – and make it better.
This capable robot works around your family schedule,
taking care of your lawn so you can focus on the more
important things in life.
Minimum output from you means maximum output from
Miimo, with automatic recharging and durable blades to
keep it going for even longer. What’s more, Miimo cuts
down garden waste and improves the health of your lawn
by recycling the grass shavings back into the ground.
Everything we have learnt developing HondaJet will go
into everything else we do, leading us to new innovations,
new ideas and new directions. After all, who knows where
you could go if you just let your imagination take flight.
FCX Clarity
What if we could build a car with zero emissions?
For more than two decades, our engineers have
looked for ways to challenge conventional thinking
on how to make cars. Powered by an electric motor,
the FCX Clarity emits no CO 2. Since we unveiled
our first fuel cell vehicle in 1999, we’ve brought the
innovative FCX right from the lab to the fleet and
now, to the public.
Motorcycles
Wouldn’t motorcycles be better if designers focused on
the rider rather than the machine? For example, instead
of thinking “How can we improve the brakes?” Honda
ask “How can a braking system compensate for a
rider’s panic-driven reactions in an emergency without
affecting normal braking feel?” We use this process to
create machines that not only win MotoGPs but also
perform perfectly on the daily commute. What’s more,
all the knowledge is shared, from 1800cc Grand Tourers
like the Gold Wing to 50cc Scooters like the Vision 50.

Our lawnmower range
Lawnmowers
Over 30 years of constant innovation.
It was back in September 1978 when we launched our very first Honda lawnmower in Europe. Standard 2-stroke technology dominated the market, providing
noisy, dirty engines that were difficult to maintain. So we fitted our 53cm lawnmowers with ground breaking Honda 4-stroke engines, setting new standards
of performance, reliability and safety, but we didn’t stop with the engine. Our aim has always been to constantly improve in all areas of design, so we built in
hard-wearing durability and long-lasting performance at every stage of the process, from cast iron cylinder sleeves and ball bearings to support the crankshaft to
aerodynamic cutter decks with nylon grass bags for improved airflow and more efficient collection. Our patented Roto-stop® feature is our latest benchmark in
design, providing complete safety and peace of mind by allowing users to stop the blades turning without switching the engine off.

How to choose a lawnmower.
There are so many different lawnmowers and, if you’re not used to the technology, choosing the right one for you can seem a little tricky. So we’ve created this simple
guide to get you started. What cutter deck size should you choose? What product range should you focus on? What features should you look for? Just follow the
three steps below and you will be able to find the right product for you and your garden in no time.
What garden do you have?
Your garden complexity and the level of comfort you wish to get will
define the features you might be looking for in a lawnmower. Honda
lawnmowers are available as push models or self-propelled, either
single speed or with SMART Drive®, Select Drive and Hydrostatic
drive, offering variable speed.
The information below will help you decide on the model you need
depending on the type of garden you have.

Blade size
Your blade size effects the time it takes to cover an
area and how often you need to empty the grass
bag. The general rule is: the bigger the lawn the
bigger the blade size required.

SMALL AND COMPLEX GARDENS
MEDIUM/LARGE OPEN AREA GARDENS
The garden is small (under 300m2), without slopes (<5%) or
uneven ground. It may be complex: with bushes, trees, flower
beds and borders. For this type of garden you need a lightweight
lawnmower with good manoeuvrability. Our recommendation is a
push model.
The garden has open space areas with some uneven ground,
gentle slopes (>5%) and without any confined areas. You may
want to choose a self-propelled lawnmower that can easily cope
with a difficult environment. Our recommendation is a single
speed self-propelled model.
MEDIUM/LARGE COMPLEX GARDENS
MULTI-GROUND AND MULTI-SIZE GARDENS
The garden is complex with an abundance of trees, shrubs, flower
beds and paths. A self-propelled model, where you can vary the
forward speed to cut accurately and safely around many obstacles,
would be ideal. Our recommendation is a self-propelled model with
SMART Drive® or Select Drive.
The garden is a patchwork of different grass areas with
medium and large open spaces and few confined areas.
To manage all of these different areas you will need to vary a
fixed mowing speed. Our recommendation is a self-propelled
model with Select Drive or Hydrostatic transmission.

Versamow™ variable mulching system
Variable mulching allows you to select the amount of
mulch that is blown down into the lawn, allowing you to
ensure the right amount of fertiliser and avoid an excess
of thatch.
Engine pro spec
Electric start
Simple and convenient, the electric key start ignition
makes starting your lawnmower even easier and is fitted
in addition to the standard recoil pull-start.
All our professional engines are Over-Head Valve (OHV)
and feature: cast iron cylinder sleeve, bearing set on the
crankshaft, high capacity air filter and steel fan cover.
Roto-stop® blade brake clutch
Variable Speed Technologies
Roto-stop is one of many Honda patents. It works as a clutch
and allows you to engage and disengage the blade without
stopping the engine. It also works as a brake when emptying
the grass bag, removing obstacles or crossing a gravel path,
meaning you do not need to restart the engine afterwards and
keeping you safe. Safety is of paramount importance with
Honda lawnmowers.
Self-propelled lawn mowers make mowing the lawn easier, of which
Honda has three variable speed technologies: SMART Drive®,
Select Drive and Hydrostatic drives.

The intelligent auto-choke system automatically
sets the choke to give optimum starting and
running in all conditions.
Versamow™ selective mulching system
With a single lever, Honda’s Versamow™ system will
either collect the grass cuttings into the bag or finely
shred and blow them down into the lawn to create a
natural fertiliser.
Roto-stop®
Our R&D team have designed a patented low noise
blade (-0.5dB(A)) compared to traditional blades.
With a combination of engine and cutter deck design,
its noise level is 30% under the current EU standard.
Rear roller
SMART Drive® is designed to give you fingertip control allowing you
to adjust the speed control for greater accuracy.
The all-new Select Drive additionally allows you to set a constant
speed for relaxed mowing with increased comfort.
In demanding conditions the Hydrostatic drive is still unmatched and
gives you greatest accuracy and a smooth stepless speed control.
Models with a rear roller give your lawn that classic
striped effect. A rear roller offers greater machine
balance and control when cutting around the edge
of your lawn.
Optiflow
A fan powered system under the cutter deck that
improves air flow between the cutter deck and the
high air flow grass bag. It significantly improves
collecting performance of the lawnmower.

For the best results when mulching, grass clippings must be small
enough to access the root of the plant and minimise the thatch
formation. So, our R&D team has developed MicroCut, a system
that uses two blades, cutting the grass twice to ensure clippings
are as small as possible.
The quantity of clippings also needs to be carefully adjusted to
avoid clipping accumulation that suffocates the grass (yellow
marks) and produces an excess of thatch. Versamow™ selective
mulching system allows you to switch from grass collecting
to mulching without needing any tools. The more advanced
Versamow™ variable mulching system uses an adjustable window
between the cutting area and the grass bag. By gradually opening
or closing the window, you can control the quantity of grass you
collect and then avoid an excess of grass being dropped. So, if
your grass is long because you haven’t had the time to mow, just
open the window to 100% for full grass collection.

Engine pro spec
A fan powered system under the cutter deck
improves air flow between the cutter deck and
the high air flow grass bag. It significantly improves
collecting performance of the Lawn Tractor.
Electric grass dump
The grass bag is opened and assisted with an
electric motor at the touch of a switch.
These engines are specifically designed for heavy
and professional use. They are Over-Head Valve
(OHV) with extra features to cope with heavy use
and include a cast iron cylinder sleeve, bearing set
supporting the crankshaft, high capacity air filter
and steel fan cover.

Both blades have an overlapping cutting area to

The key to good grass collecting performance is a powerful
and controlled air flow. So our Research and Development
(R&D) team developed Honda Optiflow, a system that
combines powerful suction with controlled and low
turbulence air flow that reduces power loss, noise and grass
accumulation. See below the four simple and incredibly
efficient innovations developed by our R&D engineers:

There are two kinds of cutter decks: one with asynchronous
blades and one with synchronous blades. Cutter decks with
asynchronous blades use two independent unsynchronised
blades that are slightly offset. Cutter decks with synchronous
blades use two blades that are synchronised with a timing belt to
keep a constant 90 degree angle. The benefits of a synchronous
system are a constant cutting performance to avoid uncut areas,
even when turning and better air flow under the cutter deck
resulting in optimised grass collecting and a lower risk of clogging.

Versamow™ selective
mulching system
With a single lever, Honda’s Versamow™ selective mulching
system will either collect the grass cuttings into the bag or finely
shred and blow them down into the lawn to create a natural
fertiliser. If your grass is long or rough, you can mow your
garden and collect grass clipping in one passage. If your grass
has grown for a week or it just rained and you wish to keep your
garden tidy, you can choose to mulch and then easily fertilise
your grass. Or you can keep your grass tidy and collect the
clippings around your house and then do a rough cut in other
areas of the garden. Whatever you decide, you can do it in one
push, no mulching kit to add, nothing to bolt in.

intuitive operation.

With a reassuring safety release feature,
the swing handle can be adjusted to swing
left or right which lets you work without
leaving your footprints behind you, and
avoids compressing already cultivated soil
and plants.
Security loop handle
When using the tiller with an attachment,
simply turn the convenient reversible handle
180o to effortlessly break up compacted
soil, instead of turning the whole machine
around. This function allows a greater
variety of attachments.
Side clutch
This multiple-grip loop handle allows for a
safe operation of your tiller from the centre,
left or right positions for easy turning at the
end of a row.
Side discs
The user-friendly side clutch stops the
drive to either the right or the left tine,
making changing direction easy.
Transport wheel
Side discs protect growing plants from
flying debris or impact from slasher tines
by keeping the tiller perfectly aligned
when furrowing.
Power Take Off (PTO)
For extra manoeuvrability, the transport
wheel helps you move the tiller seamlessly
between storage and work areas – even
over curbs and up hills.
Gearbox
PTO draws power from the engine and
makes it easy to connect and disconnect
powered attachments to your tiller to
make heavy jobs like hulling, spraying
and mowing quicker.
Counter-rotating tines
More gears means greater flexibility and
power. The gearbox transfers the ideal
power and torque to work the machine,
letting you pick the perfect speed to
match your pace.
By rotating the tines in the opposite
direction to each other the tiller becomes
very balanced and easy to control,
effortlessly breaking up the hardest soil
quicker and more efficiently.
