EDITORIAL
Dear Reader
A look back, a look around, and a look
ahead – we have packed these three perspectives into the first Model Box of 2005.
From our beginnings as packaging manufacturers 123 years ago, our company has
developed into a pan-European group which
now has 2695 capable employees. In this
issue, the milestones along this path of development are traced in condensed form.
The art of packaging, with its wide variety of
design and application possibilities, affords
us such joy that good cheer prevails today
and bright prospects beckon from tomorrow. Packaging contributes to the smooth
automation of product fulfillment, optimal
enticement at the point of purchase, and
sensual contact with the packaging surfaces.
Regardless of how fierce competition for attention on the shelf may become – we are
right in the fray and aren’t going away –
Model, the power packaging people!
Do you have packaging ideas? Do you have
packaging concerns? Do you want to standardize your abundance of packaging styles
and apply economies of scale? Do you see
things that we can improve?
If so, I look forward to hearing from you at
[email protected].
And now I invite you to join me on a tour
through various countries, getting to know
their people and their solutions to packaging issues!
Yours sincerely,
Daniel Model

2004 ANNUAL REPORT
A look around – here is a view of the Model
Group as it exists today. To begin with,
please accompany us for an overview of our
numbers and profits as of the end of 2004.
Last year, for the first time in its history, the
Model Group exceeded one half billion
Swiss francs in sales. This success was built
upon the international expansion of the
group, which commenced 13 years ago.
The CHF 32.7 million (6.6%) growth in revenue or over the previous year is due to
sales increases in all Model regions and
product segments. Had there been no
changes in the scope of consolidation and
with exchange rates remaining constant, internal sales growth would have been 3.7%
(previous year 7%). The consolidated equity
ratio increased from 65.7% to 68%; the number of employees has risen to just below
2,700. Capital expenditure and acquisitions
have also reached the highest level to date
at CHF 51 million.
The packaging sector shows developments
which parallel general economic developments, especially in the areas of industrial
production and consumption. More than
half of all corrugated cardboard and paperboard packaging is used for the food and
luxury article industries. When consumption
and industrial production rise, the demand
for packaging rises, and vice versa.
The whole of the Swiss economy, which has
always been our primary sales market with
more than a third of the total volume,
showed very attractive growth in 2004. The
growth rates of our markets in the EU, particularly in the central European countries of
the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia,
are continuing the trend of the previous
years with significant increases.
The year 2004 has been one of volume
growth in all divisions of the Model Group.
Our paper mill in Weinfelden, which produces recycled paper for our own needs as
well as for the external market, was able to
achieve a 4,000-tonne increase in volume to
a record 136,322 tonnes. The group’s corrugated board production increased by a total
of approximately 9.3%, primarily due to a
growth in the Central region. All the cardboard facilities in Au, Hanau, and Opava
registered encouraging growth. The client
base has especially broadened within the
cosmetic and confectionary packaging arenas. Meanwhile, the greatest increase in
cardboard packaging has now come from
Cofinec Bohemia a. s. in the Czech Republic,
which was acquired in December 2003 and
consolidated for the first time in 2004.
With regard to production costs, elevated
paper prices combined with increases in operating costs, particularly in the areas of energy, insurance, and personnel, have led to
declining margins. These were only partially
offset by improvements in productivity. Additionally, the South-eastern region (Croatia)
suffered a virtual price collapse due to the
entry of a new competitor to a market, exacerbating excess capacity issues there. This
price collapse has left an imprint on the region’s operational profits.
The investments made during the reporting
year were largely focused on streamlining
and replacement in the Western region, and
on capacity increases and quality improvements in the Central region. The largest expenditures were the partial replacement of a
transline in Weinfelden, a new flatbed diecutter in Moudon, and one offset printer
each for Hostinné and Opava.
Cofinec Bohemia a. s., the Model Group’s
new cardboard packaging subsidiary in the
Czech Republic, was integrated quickly and
successfully. This company, which had been
operating at a loss in previous years, was
turned around effectively and Cofinec Bohemia a. s. has been recognized as "best
supplier" by a large international customer
in the Czech Republic.
In 2004 our employees again largely dedicated their work to the advancement and
improvement of quality in all areas – quality
not only of the product, but also of the accompanying paperwork, the appearance of
our mills, our image, and of employee communication with our customers and partners. If you have seen us change in a positive way, we are pleased and gratified. We
have not always succeeded; there have, for
example, been times when newly introduced IT systems have played tricks on us.
Our aim is for you always to receive the kind
of service from Model that will leave your
thoughts of product packaging pleasant and
worry-free.
In the name of all our employees, I thank
you for your confidence in us. We’re looking
forward to the new challenges that lie in the
year ahead!

Model AG Weinfelden… the foundation, the motivation, the courage to
change
From a family business in Thurgau to a
multinational packaging group – since its
establishment in 1882 the Model Group has
developed and solidified into its present
form. More especially during the last 13
years, a Europe-wide distribution and production network for cardboard and corrugated board packaging has emerged.
Nevertheless this family business continues
to be conscious of its roots: the Model
Group is still headquartered at its original
location at Model AG in Weinfelden, approximately 37 miles northeast of Zurich.

by customers" here does not simply refer to
the manufacturing of clever packaging solutions, but also to proactive packaging innovation in close collaboration with the customer playing the role of "idea generator"
It is not the total number of potential packaging patents granted or awards received
that demonstrates a genuine grasp of innovation, but rather a mastery of the areas involved in the packaging development
process, such as logistics, print consultation
and waste management.
The Model Group in Weinfelden has provided a broad foundation for our growth. In
view of trends in the international packaging
markets, this Model Group combines all the
necessary resources required for a closed
packaging life cycle, comprising production,
processing, and recycling of corrugated
board packaging.

AWARDS
Intelligent Packaging DVD
The DVD "Intelligent Packaging" received
numerous international awards during 2004.
This DVD gives a memorable presentation
of the process of developing product packaging. This journey is presented in conjunction with an introduction of our various divisions.
Most of the actors are Model AG employees
and can therefore be observed performing
their actual duties.
Awards: – Intermedia Gold Award (Public
Relations Cat. Image) – EDI (Direction and
Overall Impression) – European Masterclass
2005 (Master of Excellence, Sound/Music)
"Imagine" (Kraft Foods)
This packaging was awarded the title "Packaging of the Year 2004" at the ECMA (European Carton Makers’ Association) convention. This is the highest commendation the
group confers. Its special shape and the
high quality application of printing technology help this packaging to make a strong
impression. The product packaging was offset printed and then additionally enhanced
using Iriodin pigments, hot foil stamping,
and structural embossing.
Company award for Moravské
Budějovice
In March 2004, Model MB Karton was honored with the prize for the best company in
the Vysocina region. During the selection
process the companies were first chosen
and then themselves asked to participate in
their own evaluation.
An Apple for Motivation
This year Model Holding AG received a particularly special award. The company was
honored with the "Apple of Thurgau 2005"
award, a motivational award conferred by
the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of
Thurgau, the Trade Association of Thurgau,
and the "Thurgauer Kantonalbank".
The jury was persuaded by our exemplary
and consistent corporate strategy for the
development of quality and expansion into
new markets.
The prize will officially be conferred at a
ceremony in April 2005.

LOOKING AHEAD
Up-to-date and innovative packaging
trends
Up-to-date marketing characterizes a company which is fit enough to look forward to
the future. By this we mean not the clarity of
our crystal ball, but rather the "mental fitness" of our packaging developers and sales
force. This hard-earned fitness enables us
to stay ahead of important trends in our development and to learn from future-oriented
models. Thus, we can use futuristic examples to better support the needs of our customers and market partners. Viewing packaging solutions from a variety of perspectives also allows us to develop product
packaging suited to marketing demands in
an oversaturated market.
Our packaging solutions must allow for successful application in tomorrow’s differentiated consumer markets, such as the service,
discount, luxury, and adventure markets. In
addition to conventional informational marketing, this success is achieved through the
power of inspiration. In developing product
packaging, we consider not only client specifications, but also the true innovation of the
products themselves. We observe the
changing needs of the consumer "shopper"
in close collaboration with marketing consulting and research institutes. These new
insights are then incorporated into the development of displays or the design of a
packaging solution.
We only bring packaging developments and
solutions to the market after having previously considered what the unanswered desires and dreams of a consumer in that
product area might be.
artistGuide offers 1:1 insight into the
Model Group’s printing and enhancement capabilities for product packaging. It helps graphic
designers, advertisers, and
marketing professionals plan
a better market and media image for the products with which
they work. artistGuide’s innovative
presentation and the wide variety of available materials and printing options provide
the viewer with a "See-Feel-Touch" experience and simplify the appropriate selection
of material and printing.
Mobility, communication –
accessibility… the future
Apart from traditional values such as good
education, for example, the modern work
world is increasingly shaped by other factors such as flexibility, mobility, and constant accessibility.
Mobility – from the Latin word mobilitas –
signifies a capacity for both spatial-regional
and conceptual-mental motion. High mobility is characteristic of a dynamic industrial
society and of human beings in the 21st
century. When combined with a high standard of education, flexible lifestyles, and
economic and technological infrastructures, mobility emerges as a
core value of the globalized work
world.
As corporate management structures have become flatter, the concept of the dutiful and over-directed
employee has increasingly given
way to the individual taking personal
responsibility for his or her work. This
person realizes that his or her personal performance has an impact on the success of
the company as a whole. In return, the individual creates new areas of personal freedom which positively influence his or her
ability to perform well.
Always open to receive...
always accessible...
The new information and communication
technologies, particularly cellular technology, the internet, and e-mail, allow for work
contexts in which the spatial and temporal
conditions are largely self-determined.
Many of the production and logistics connections between ourselves and our partners require modern communication technologies. Thus, employees are capable of
sharing information at all times and from
any location. For us, mobility and accessibility are goals in and of themselves: speedy
access to production and inventory data
must be guaranteed independent of time
and location. Only in this way can productivity, service quality, and smooth communication within a supply chain connection be
ensured. An additional benefit of the combination of mobility, accessibility, and technology is internal and external process optimization.
gives the customer a better idea of the product’s impact at the point of sale. Desired
changes can already be applied on the spot.
Then the optimized packaging solution is
produced to correspond precisely to this
standard.
An additional advantage CATIA provides is
that drawings of a product which have already been made are integrated into the
software. This allows the packaging to be
shown with its contents even if we have not
physically seen the product ourselves. (This
is how the packaging of a washing machine
was created, for example.)
Brand protection
The packaging industry faces
extensive challenges regarding
the issue of brand protection.
Model Kramp, together with
other well-known supply partners, has focused on this issue.
Their absolutely up-to-date
composite work contains a systematic collection, classification,
and evaluation of the essential security technologies available for use in the
printing of product packaging. The PROTECTION folding box combines all available
technologies as a microcosm of process integrated and intelligently combined applications.
Special printing processes
As a manufacturer of high quality packaging
for the cosmetic and luxury industries,
Model Kramp has once again set market
standards. Model has satisfied its clients’
high demands and responded to the continuing trend toward greatly enhanced packaging through its innovative enhancement
techniques, See-Feel-Touch, See-Feel-Touch
Living, Model Effects, Model Effects Living
(imaginary line of men’s cosmetic products,
Bo-Mec) and Protection. Silver, gold, and
special effect litho lamination as well as Iriodin effects and UV offset printing are popular design elements. The cosmetic industry
has set trends in this area; adjacent markets
are taking up these examples and developing their own packaging solutions.
CATIA 3D Software
In addition to mobility and accessibility, we
are also focusing on new software which
enables us to optimally process packaging
solutions. Weinfelden has introduced CATIA
3D animation software to create 3D pictures
and animations of a product which can then
be presented directly to the customer. This

For Nintendo Zelda and

something quite special. Fundamental ecological concepts

■ INVESTMENTS / EVENTS
Flexoprint Inline
After a year-long testing and development
phase, Model PrimePac’s latest innovation
was presented to the public at a customer
symposium. The Gallus KM510 flexoprint inline machine powerfully advances the strategy of innovation and specialization. The
modular design of the new technology
opens up an incredible variety of possibilities in inline production: litho-lamination,
lamination, UV flexoprinting with up to 8
colors, screen printing, hot foil stamping,
embossing, and die-cutting. Following exceptional advances in UV flexoprinting during recent years, printing results which fulfill
even the most stringent requirements of
brilliancy and color stability, even for rasterized gradation, are now achievable.
Meeting Point Cosmetic
The newest developments in the cosmetic
industry were the central focus of Meeting
Point Cosmetic in early June of 2004 at the
German Packaging Museum in Heidelberg.
The selection of topics ranged from the
newest "European Market Study on Luxury
Packaging, 2004" to an emphasis on "Cosmetic Primary Packaging and Packaging Design" to an enlightening examination of
"Ways to Emotionalize a Brand Name Image
– the 6 Semiotic Languages of Packaging
Design."
Transline 1228 modification, Model AG
To achieve the goal of transferring projects
from the die-cutting department over to the
inliners, the front portion (up to the folding
section) of the Transline 1 was modified
over the Christmas/New Year holiday. The
new machine technology boasts 15%
greater productivity as well as improved
product quality, thanks especially to its vacuum transport feature.
New processing machine for
Model InoPac
The new machine is well-suited to small
batch production in that it is designed for a
wide variety of products, not a large production volume. This machine’s clever set-up
allows the production of a broad range of
different boxes and pre-cuts made from
corrugated board.

serially connected processing planes.
New printing machines for
Model Kramp
Professional expertise and long-term experience coupled with the latest technology are
indispensable to Model Kramp Hanau’s ability to achieve excellent results. To live up to
these commitments, a new R 706UV printing machine and a foil stamping machine
were acquired in 2004. A Bobst SP 102 CER
die-cutter with fully automatic stripping and
blanking was also added to provide increased production capacity.
BRC/IoP hygiene standard
On June 8, 2004 Model PrimePac, Au, successfully passed a hygiene management
system certification audit under the BRC/IoP
standard. This standard creates a universal
basis for auditing manufacturers of grocery
packaging and makes an important contribution to consumer protection. The Model
Group has been addressing this important
issue since 2002. Our
goal is to make every
effort to implement
this standard throughout the entire group.

The success of a product does not solely
depend on product quality, but also on how
successfully the customer’s attention is
captured at the POP.
Sales and gift packaging
This was the
primary goal of
the Mc Carter –
Rio packaging.
The request was
that a packaging
was to be created which
clearly differed
from that used by the competitor. We succeeded by effecting a skillful realization of
the graphical elements using Masterflex, the
newest flexoprint technology.
Here the slightly bitter Becherovka liqueur,
well-known in the Czech Republic, was packaged as a luxurious line of gift packages
particularly suitable for foreign guests. The
unexpectedly high sales volume proves that
the implementation was a success.
Grass and plant
seeds from the
Polish company
Pokon were sent
out with clever
packaging. In addition
to its shipping and protective functions, this paper-bag-like packaging
can also, after removing the adhesive strip,
be used for measured sowing of the enclosed seeds. The window in the tapered,
folded box allows an easy view of the remaining amount seed at all times. The packages were prepared using conventional
four-color printing, after which certain portions were additionally finished with UV lacquer to further enhance the pictures.
10
A rhomboid – an unusual shape – for
eight bottles of Staropramen’s specialty
beer and a gift glass. The individual rhomboids can also be set up in such a manner
as to produce an additional interesting
shape. The sheet was offset printed and
then litho-laminated onto corrugated board
(B-flute).
Model MB Karton
is successful at developing and manufacturing product
packaging for the
automotive industry. An example is
the packaging with anchoring capabilities
for car headlights, manufactured for Renault, Suzuki, and Nissan. The primary focus
of this type of packaging is product protection and simplicity of use.
Toy – packaged naturally. The wooden hand
puppets in this natural packaging are accommodated simply and in a manner appropriate to their wood composition.
■ INVESTMENTS
Modernization at Opava
A new corrugated
board machine core
has made it possible
to produce both Eand B-flute and to
switch out the two
modules efficiently.
Three new splicers
were also installed in
a new soundproof
room. A new litho-lamination line from
Asitrade (Bobst Group) provides an increase
in productivity as well as the litho-lamination of F-flute board. From October through
December 2004 the six-color offset printing
machine was delivered truckload by truckload. This printing machine is capable of
printing hybrid and UV colors/UV lacquers
with interesting visual effects.
KBA Rapida 105 in Hostinné
The KBA Rapida 105,
with a capacity of
15,000 sheets (2100 x
1500 mm) per hour,
has a continuous
sheet loader and unloader, a temperature-controlled color
unit and an automatic page-cleaning
system. Desintronic offers an additional advantage: color density and spectral measurements across the entire sheet can be
taken during the printing process.

■ EVENTS
Customer day in Opava
This open house was held to demonstrate
our printing and packaging abilities and
present options for protection against product counterfeiting, an issue of increasing importance to all name brand products, particularly pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
Nymburk as traditional swimming
sponsor
In 2004 Model again sponsored the TJ Lokomotiva Nymburk Swim Club, which has 60
members between the ages of 6 and 15. The
highlight of the year is their annual participation in the Czech swimming championship. The swim club is also involved in organizing a variety of activities for children
such as summer camp, vacation camp and
ski days. All this is undertaken for the sake
of a very important goal: the health and development of the children.
Young Packaging 2004
In the Mladý Obal competition, a professional jury carefully scrutinized 370 pieces
of work created by 341 different packaging
designers from 12 countries.
Model Obaly provided financial as well as
organizational support for the event. The
significantly higher number of competition
entries, especially from foreign countries,
was very encouraging. First place awards
were given to students from Poland,
Canada, and South Korea.
Model MB Karton, Moravské
Budějovice’s 10th anniversary
The first product packaging was produced at
Model MB Karton on September 1 exactly
10 years ago. Model MB Karton also celebrated its 5th anniversary as a member of
the Model Group on the same date.
Customer event at Model Cofinec
Guests enjoyed the sports-oriented events
in spite of the rain and fog. Several particularly courageous participants took part in
the bicycle steeplechase, with a bike ride on
a downhill ski slope as the crowning finish.
Another group took a cable car round trip to
Cerna Hora accompanied by a mountain
guide. Guests were revitalized with showers, a swimming pool, and massages before
the more relaxed portion of the evening
began.
Indian summer ablaze in color
The children and residents of Opava were
the focus of this colorful event.
Accompanied by their parents, children had
the opportunity to follow the old American
custom of saying farewell to their summer
break and to take an extra measure of enjoyment from their last day of holiday. The
range of activities offered included painting,
horseback and donkey riding, motorcycle
rides, and even rafting trips on the Opava
River. Guests tried their skills at paintball
and riding a wild mechanical bull. The
whole event was rounded off with a painting competition.

Core competencies and processing
options
Model Pakiranja d.d. ranks among the leading manufacturers of corrugated board and
corrugated board packaging in Croatia. With
the participation of 170 qualified and skilled
employees, its annual production capacity
amounts to 50 million square meters.
Our product packaging reflects not only the
client’s desire for shipping, protective, and
advertising functions, but also offers completely new and often unexpected solutions,
ranging from initial ideas about the development of packaging construction and design
to the optimization of material quality, to
sample creation with client consultation, to
reliable delivery under optimum commercial
conditions.
The product range encompasses
printing sheets and rolls, inline
packaging, displays, inserts,
printed or non-printed, as flat
pre-cuts or glued and/or stapled.
A newly introduced product is
packaging with an integrated tearoff or reinforcement strip.
Products Zvijezda
Model Pakiranja is the first and only manufacturer in Croatia to offer a box with an integrated tear-open strip. At the supermarket, this shipping carton can be transformed into
attractive sales packaging for mayonnaise.
12
Kviki
Model Pakiranja developed a shipping
pack for the renowned
Croatian food producer Podravka which
doubles as a sales display. To satisfy the
stringent requirements of Podravka’s marketing department, a specific surface pressure had to be achieved in addition to the
dual functionality.
"Foodapest" – a trade show for food
producers – in Budapest
Two pavilions were reserved for manufacturers of packaging products and packaging
machines. We took advantage of the opportunity to introduce ourselves to a broader
audience and sent out 200 invitations to potential clients in the food and beverage industry. We established good connections
with the guests we invited as well as with
the exhibitors from Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia.
IT investments
New software was introduced at the beginning of 2004 with the goal of improving
service quality, speeding up internal
processes and building a collection of comprehensive and continually accessible analysis and reporting files.
The system consists of two main entities.
The first package (DVS Systems) integrates
the following modules:
– CAD program with
FEFCO catalogue
– Calculation
– Quote generation,
order confirmation
and production orders
– Customer and product master data
– Inventory of manufactured goods and
generation of delivery receipts and invoices
– Analysis/reports.
The complementary software (Sage) manages procurement, materials inventory and
financial accounting. Implementation of the
new software has brought many improvements in the affected processes. Especially
in relation to calculating and bidding, i.e.
customer service and production order generation, the efficiency and skill levels of
sales staff improved considerably. Great improvements were also visible in manufactured goods inventory management.
Additions to and withdrawals from inventory are performed via hand-held scanner,
which expedites the process and makes it
almost error-free.
Pack Shop Zagreb
Pack Shop Zagreb is entering its fourth
fiscal year. Although the sale of standard
packaging is completely new to the market
in Zagreb and the surrounding area and is
not yet fully established there, the
customer base already includes over
800 companies.
Additional information on our Pack
Shop products is
available on page 14.

Thurpapier 2005
Why is the windscreen of a car significantly
larger than the rearview mirror? There are
many possible answers. For us, the point is
always to remain focused on the future
without forgetting the past.
Between 2002 and
2004 targeted investments were made
which are now bearing fruit. Encouraging
numbers are being
recorded in both
qualitative and quantitative output measures. The clear and
consistent commitment to maintenance
is today reflected in
the high level of
equipment availability. Brief, periodic downtimes and a more lengthy period of summer
downtime lead to longer runtimes. Thurpapier has successfully been recertified according to the ISO 9001/14001 quality and
environmental management system.
Through the windscreen we take a realistic
view of "tomorrow". We face significant
challenges on the international front. Paper
capacity will continue to grow. New facilities
will appear and will generate even more
competition. Our primary goals:
– maintain high equipment availability
– increase production and quality
– deliberate live and experience our management principles.
We are entering the race with new types of
paper. We are rising to meet the new challenges and are offering "lightweight" qualities. With 100 g/m2 testliner and 90 g/m2 corrugating medium we are at the heart of the
trend.
We are looking forward to "tomorrow".
New Production Facility
Thanks to the purchase of our new
UNICA 355 – CNC
line processing facility from the Italian
company Servi Form,
we have markedly
improved the level of
automation and the efficiency of the component production process group. We are
now able to fully automatically process strip
steel with a thickness of 0.71–1.05 mm and
a 23.8–50.0 mm blade height, as well as flat
or serrated 50.0 x 1.05 mm stripping steel.
Other advantages: better quality and reproducibility of steel-constructed upper stripping tools (UST), and the upper stripping
tools for the carton and folded box arena
can increasingly be produced using stripping steel.
Thanks to this piece of equipment our vertical range in the manufacturing of flatbed
die-cutting tools for the deep drawing and
synthetics industry can be expanded.
Thanks to greatly improved equipment
availability, the quantity of paper produced
has increased by 24% compared to 1996, all
with the same complement of machines as
before. Production capacity in tonnes per
employee grew from 1076 in 1996 to 1360 in
2004.

Pack Shop: service, logistics, online
shopping and more...
The Pack Shop service, which evolved from
the custom packaging sector of the Model
Group, offers Model customers a comprehensive array of packaging and packaging
aid products off the shelf in addition to services related to logistics and the development of product packaging. The first step
might be packaging from our Pack Shop
catalogue. A second step often leads to an
individually manufactured, customized
packaging solution.
Pack Shop customers should be focused primarily on the development, production and
sale of their products. To help assist them,
some 11 Pack Shop locations throughout
Europe guarantee that the necessary product packaging is available. Pack Shop customers can access the online shop on the Internet or obtain a fitting packaging solution
from among the many thousands of packaging options available in our very extensive
complete catalogue within the space of a
few hours. To save time, the products can
also be picked up directly from the Pack
Shops, or a truck will deliver the packaging
products directly from our shelves to the
customer as it makes its daily rounds.
Online ordering brings geographical issues
into play, including an inventory check and
the speediest possible delivery based on the
customer’s shipping address. Pack Shop
customers see their order request and all related applications on-screen. The number of
packages per pallet is displayed, along with
item weight and dimensions, the necessary
shipping packaging, a recommended price
and the necessary documentation. Once the
correct packaging data is entered into the
online Pack Shop form, speedy fulfillment is
the Pack Shop’s highest goal. When ordering, the Pack Shop customer can also determine the physical method procedure, selecting from among several options. Most shipments are sent by post or ground delivery.
As an additional value-added service, Pack
ITALY
Shop
teams at
each Model location will also take care of
planning the availability of packing
materials and inventory upon special request.
Competent virtual and manual processing are crucial to the success of
the Pack Shop service, as is the coordination and grouping of several orders at a single Pack Shop location.
With the Pack Shop service, the Model
Group has also established itself in the European off-the-shelf packaging solution sector; alongside its innovative and custommanufactured product packaging it also offers complete packaging and logistics
systems to both large and small-scale customers. The core idea behind this effort is
that the Pack Shop service allows Model to
proactively promote
"complete packaging and
logistics management
along the value-added
chain" to our customers.

LOOKING BACK
In 2005 Model will turn 123 – a good reason
to think about the many customers who
have purchased our products and services,
the many employees who have made a contribution to our customers and to the development of our company, the many families
which have been sustained by this contribution, and our own predecessors in the company, who demonstrated an astounding
level of personal sacrifice.
its entire lifetime so far reveals some impressive numbers: hundreds of children
have been cared for within our own day

sands of tonnes of waste paper recycled,
millions of tonnes of material processed,
dozens of millions in tax contributions resulted from our work, hundreds of millions
of francs were invested, billions of packaging units produced. It brings to mind Frederic Vester’s project to put a value on the
service of a tree in simply converting CO2
into oxygen – even the least imposing can
produce gigantic quantities!
A look at the benefits this 123-year-old company, currently employing over 2600 people, has cumulatively brought to light over

PREVIEW
Presenting...
The curtain goes up on the Kids’ Charity Gala.
The Kids’ Charity Gala association will conduct the fourth Kids’ Charity Gala on Friday, May 27
at the Thurgauerhof Hotel – an evening event not just for adults; children will enjoy their own
celebration at the Kids’ Club.
The cornerstone of a happy and successful life is laid during childhood. Learning various skills
and acquiring knowledge is easier at this age. Many things which children can be taught in a playful
context adults must learn with great effort, whether it be social team behavior, skill in a sport or
playing a musical instrument.
Tour de Suisse
June 11 and 12, 2005
in Weinfelden
Statistics on juvenile delinquency continually show the importance of supporting children and
youth and of engaging them in meaningful activities. Children and adolescents who are given
meaningful leisure opportunities simply experience fewer difficulties in life – both during their
youth and later as adults.
The Kids’ Charity Gala association is an initiative under the direction of Daniel Model, who has
made supporting children’s and youth organizations a personal focus. The proceeds from entrance
fees, raffle tickets and auctions as well as other donations will be given to selected children’s and
youth-oriented organizations centered around sports, culture, and social activities.
