Why belong to
an athletic and
social club?
Why belong to an athletic and social club? That’s really the first question.
The Cambridge Group of Clubs has been a social and athletic force in
Toronto’s financial district for more than 40 years. The original Cambridge
Club is still located in the Sheraton Centre across the street from City Hall.
Nearby, the Adelaide Club and Toronto Athletic Club complete the trio.
Fitness and wellness are a focus at all three, to be sure, and at a high level.
That said, the social experience is paramount and this is where the Cambridge
Group makes its mark.
These are not clubs you join. These are clubs to which you belong. Each
one is distinct, with a unique style and attitude. Members choose their clubs
and, in a way, their clubs choose them. Maybe one of them is right for you.

With a city view this panoramic, you’re
reluctant to leave your treadmill. That’s
good for your heart and your mind. From
the vantage of the “Club Above,” your
choices are almost limitless. Complete a
workout in the vast gym, a one-stop shop
with everything you need in one soaring
room, including a world-class sports medicine clinic. The penthouse-level pool is
great for a relaxing warm-down or an
intense session with the club’s dedicated
triathloners. Squash is also a serious pursuit, with a staff of pros, an inviting lounge
and an intense roster of competitions and
events.
When it’s time to relax, Stratus Restaurant
welcomes with a fine-dining menu of seasonal treats and a well-stocked wine cellar.
Some brilliant events happen here too, from
tutored scotch tastings to lectures by leading thinkers. For every athletic and social
need, the Toronto Athletic Club is full service and beyond. Here, you’re on top of the
world every day.

impact
You hear the beat even before you step
into reception. Did you take the back stairs
(its our little secret) or the elevator? No
matter. You’ve probably noticed the Frank
Stella sculpture hanging over The Pit, setting an energetic tone in the free-weight
room. The sleek, airy club is purpose-built
for athletic intensity, with a dedicated
cardio gym for women, a brand-new spa,
and studios for every type of class.
Have your eye on that marathon, triathlon
or epic cycling tour? Or maybe you just
need to tune up, set a new fitness goal and
get on with it. Well, your personal trainer
will make it easy. Feel like some time with
a boxing coach? A session with a Pilates
instructor? A game of squash? Or maybe
it’s time to chill out with a smoothie in the
lounge and some ping-pong. Yes, we’re
serious about ping-pong. Train hard, play
hard… A game of cards and a glass of wine
caps off a workout you can be proud of.
Till tomorrow. Time to do it again.
cambridge club
heritage
Enter the Cambridge Club and you’re enveloped by elegance. Like slipping into a
favourite tailored jacket, this is sort of
familiar comfort you expect in a men’s
club. You’ve been here before — even if it’s
your first time stepping out of the elevator onto the 11th floor of the Sheraton Tower.
And is that Leonard Cohen? Yes, well, his
portrait indeed graces a collection of Canadian icons, scoundrels and newsmakers
peppered throughout the Oak Room and
adjacent passageways.
Is squash your game? Good, you’re in the
right place. The courts aren’t hard to find,
because the whole place has been built
around them. Lounge in the hot tub and
ponder a solid workout, grab a beer at the
bar, play backgammon in your robe after
a hot shower — suddenly you’re engrossed
in a conversation that’ll make a difference
sometime soon. Yeah, this is the place all
right.

Events,
Experiences and
Team Building
Corporate events executed at a personal level with every attention to
detail — that’s what we do at the Cambridge Group of Clubs. And it’s
what we can do for you and your team. Perfectly situated in the
heart of downtown Toronto, each of our three clubs offers a distinct
style and atmosphere that can fit any event, presentation, party or
celebration.
The Oak
Room
at the
Cambridge
Club
For those in the know, the Oak Room is
synonymous with the Cambridge Club.
The central bar is flanked by leather-clad
banquettes, framed by floor-to-ceiling
images of Canadian icons, and overlooks
busy Queen Street and Nathan Philips
Square. It’s the perfect place for a small
dinner reception (12 to 60) or a cocktail
reception (up to 125). We can help you plan
the perfect Scotch or wine tasting, or even
a Canadian beer dinner with small-batch
brews paired to a meal of seasonal game.
From charity poker games to cooking
classes, the Cambridge Club is an elegant
and welcoming host.
The Lounge
at the
Adelaide
Club
If it’s action you want, it’s action you will
get. The Adelaide Club’s sleek and contemporary style is perfectly suited to
energetic and entertaining social activities
for up to 400 guests. Team building is a
specialty, challenging mental and physical
problem-solving acumen across all fitness
levels — and all for fun and camaraderie.
It all happens right in the heart of the financial district in a space that melds the contemporary artwork of Frank Stella (among
others) with a boutique-hotel vibe. From
ping-pong and darts tournaments to a
full-blown squash social or an all-out casino
night, events at the Adelaide Club are stylish and fun. Specialized food and drink
tastings can be arranged, as well as all
manner of wedding-related festivities.
Let’s see what we can design for you.
Stratus
at the
Toronto
Athletic
Club
The “Club Above” becomes the “Venue in
the Sky” with a versatile and sophisticated
space centred around the Stratus Restaurant and its breathtaking views of downtown Toronto. Fully customized menus can
be designed to bring your event to life, be
it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. State-ofthe-art AV equipment will meet all your
presentation needs. Whatever your theme,
our staff can provide the insight and expertise. Tutored Scotch and wine tastings
are designed to impart knowledge and
entertainment, adding a deeper level to
your cocktail party. Our chef can explore
customized tasting experiences based on
any international cuisine or global theme.
How about a Tour de France extravaganza
following an hour of group cycling? We
can do that. Stratus accommodates 200
people for standing cocktails, 80 for dinner,
and groups of 15 to 50 in more intimate
locales. Need an idea for your next event?
We can help.
