The Habitat for Humanity House
131 Olde Main Terrace, Asheboro
In 2009, Habitat for Humanity of Randolph County
obtained property, located on Main Street, from the Isley
brothers. This tract became known as Olde Main Terrace and
would become home for five Habitat for Humanity homeowners. The new homes are not given to the homeowner, but
sold to the homeowner for basically the cost of materials and
limited contract labor. The interest-free mortgages paid to
Habitat for Humanity are used to build additional homes.
Habitat for Humanity builds houses; but they also build and
strengthen families through financial home management
education. Personal responsibility and achievement builds
self-esteem and self-confidence which translates into a more
positive life.
The mission of Habitat for Humanity is to provide decent,
affordable, energy-efficient housing, and address homelessness by building quality housing in the community.
This home represents the 7th Chick-Fil-A home to be
completed in the county. Sam Ramsey, owner of the
local Chick-Fil-A, and the Asheboro/Randolph Board of
Realtors sponsors the Habitat Golf Classic with proceeds
donated to build homes for qualifying Habitat families. The
Golf Classic has donated over $300,000 to Habitat for
Humanity.
This Habitat for Humanity Designer Show House is the fifth
and last home to be built at Olde Main Terrace. It is decorated
by local Habitat supporter, Claire Davis. The uniqueness of
the Designer Show House is that 95% of the furnishings and
decorations represent repurposed merchandise from the
Habitat ReStore. Guests are invited to purchase any item
for the new homeowner if so desired…just tell one of Santa’s
volunteer elves!
Klaussner Home Furnishings donated the living room and
dining room set and Randolph Bank sponsored the mural,
completed by Mrs. Davis, on the child’s bedroom wall.
The family will be moving into their new home before Santa
comes!

Dr. Francisco & Dr. Beth Hodges
2503 Mountain Lake Rd, Asheboro
The Dr. Francisco & Dr. Beth Hodges’energy-efficient Smart
Home, built by Mark Trollinger in 2007, was designed to
accommodate three generations of their family with two
complete living quarters. The home is electronically wired for
total control of energy needs with one press of a button!
The main floor consists of the dining room, kitchen,
master suite, living area, sunroom, and office. The
dining room ceiling has a faux leather design and the Italian
furnishings date back to 1787. Dr. Beth, who loves to cook,
designed the kitchen and grilling patio. Features in the
master suite include a double vaulted ceiling and a fireplace
with the Hodges’ signature carved into the mantel. Dr. Beth also
designed the living area fireplace. The sunroom offers
spectacular views of Lake Northwood.
In addition to an apartment, the downstairs features a bar
decorated with memorabilia from the family’s horse racing
days, wine cellar, exercise room, and bath with a steam shower.
The dream theater room supplies controls for the total home
sound and game systems.
On the third floor, try not to miss Dr. Francisco’s “Super Hero”
office with his incredible collection of comic books, artwork,
and Super Hero figures. The children’s bedrooms are handpainted by a local artist.
The Hodges’home is designed for family living and decorated in
their personal family style.
William & Julia Wittenberg
2510 Mountain Lake Rd, Asheboro
Bill & Julia Wittenberg describe their Mountain Lake brick
home, built in 2011, as “traditional out and transitional in.” The
exterior features traditional white columns, dormers, shutters,
and a bay window.
The home has an open floor plan with extensive molding
throughout, granite, tile, hardwoods, and a stone fireplace in
the family room. Traditional and transitional furnishings blend
with antiques throughout the house. Julia’s mother’s piano and
wooden chest occupy a special place on the walk-over. Artwork
from her maternal grandmother hangs in the dining room.
The Wittenberg’s favorite room and feature are the kitchen
and pool…they love to cook and swim! The pool house is their
“retreat” area and a great place for entertaining friends and
guests.
With their home tastefully decorated for the holidays, the
Wittenberg’s welcome friends, family, and you to celebrate the
beginning of this special season.
Ryan Patton
627 Redding Rd, Asheboro
Ryan Patton is “very pleased he had the opportunity to remodel,
recycle, and revamp his 1960’s family home into his own style…
he thinks his parents would be proud and happy of our home’s
new look!”
This brick ranch-style home is an exciting example of
renovation and remodel: stacked stone fireplace, natural hickory
cabinetry, stone & tile work, open floor plan, and repurposed
rooms, while preserving features special to the homeowner.
An eclectic mix of furnishings, antique and contemporary,
combine to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for holiday
guests. Many of the antiques have been in Ryan’s family for
150 years.
Michael & Julie Moore
2968 Kamerin St, Randleman
The Michael & Julie Moore home in Camelot was built by
David Lawson. The streets in the neighborhood are named
after children of the Lawson family. This traditional brick
two-story home features a covered front entrance with white
double columns, shutters, and keystones over the first floor
windows.
The Moore’s describe their furnishings as “a mixture of
contemporary furniture with modern art finishes.” The home
features a beautiful open second floor, a large staircase,
and plantation shutters throughout. Because they love to
entertain, the kitchen, bar/breakfast nook, and back porch
with a pergola are favorite rooms.
When Julie needs some “quiet time,” she retreats to an
upstairs sitting room or her large bedroom with in-suite bath.
Of course the guest room is pretty awesome too!
The Moore’s keep a traditional holiday decorating theme…
wreaths on the windows, a nine-foot tree, white lights, and
LOTS of ornaments! Julie says “traditions are hard to keep
these days” but loves to decorate and entertain friends during
the holiday season.
Enjoy visiting with the Moore’s in their comfortable, inviting
home.
Ryan’s favorite retreat is his old basement bedroom now
known as “The Man Cave.” “The Man Cave” displays an
impressive collection of sports memorabilia (primarily the UT
Volunteers…“go Vols!”), an inlayed putting green, bar, and
large screen TV built into his former clothes closet.
Ryan’s mother, “Mrs. Christmas”, inspired his love of the
holidays! He begins decorating after Halloween with a
favorite collection of his Dad’s hand-painted Santas, a
collection of Clothtique Santas and collectible Christmas
prints. Every room has a themed Christmas tree and plenty
of lights. He adds “a bit of his mother’s touch” by using fresh
greenery throughout the décor.
Enjoy this blending of “old and new” to energize for the
holiday season!
