The class focuses on reading comprehension, literary analysis, language conventions, writing, homework support, history, and organization. Read 180 - This class is for students scoring below proficiency, but specifically for FBB and BB students. The small classroom environment allows for individualized instruction in reading comprehension, reading proficiency, and reading skills, Read 180 assessments, will directly impact student instruction. Students can take choir, band, color guard, orchestra, or drama as a second elective by enrolling in lunch P.E. (mark on registration form) Laptop for Learners District wide world-class intermediate laptop immersion program Computers can be loaned to the students as a part of the class and must stay in the classroom. Parents can also purchase laptop. Parent/Teacher Communication Zangle Parent Connect: Parents and students can check grades for each class online. Each parent and student is given a pin/password to log-in. Parents can also email teachers through Zangle. The website can be accessed from the Reyburn homepage. Teacher Websites: You can find a teacher’s agenda, projects, tests, quizzes, due dates for the day and/or homework assignments. Great way for parents to “look ahead” to see what’s coming up. - Go to: rec.cusd.com/about/staff and scroll down to see teacher names. Email or call teachers to discuss academic concerns Academic Expectations Organization: Binder, dividers for each class, use planner, keep notes/assignments neat & organized. Homework: (1-2 hours per night) includes homework, studying, reading, & projects. Make sure student has a quiet place to work at home. Assignments needs to be complete & in on time. Time Management: Balance time commitments between school and co-curricular. Plan ahead. Study Skills: Space out studying, review class materials several times a week, and focus on one topic at a time. Study Tips: Use flash cards, study buddy, study guides, take good notes, and attend homework labs for help. Any student that falls below a 2.0 for two consecutive grading periods will be deemed “Academically Ineligible” for participation in that sport season. Game Day Participation All student-athletes must attend a minimum of half the school day to be eligible to participate in that day’s sporting event. Physicals/Health Screening All student-athletes must take and turn into the Athletic Office a completed physical packet before they are allowed to try out, practice or compete in any athletic event.
