DG NIFT
Mumbai and Delhi, the metropolitan cities of India are inching close
to the top 25 fashion capitals of the world. The potential of these
cities combined with the opportunities in Indian economy are creating
a beeline of foreign investors in the fashion concept to consumer
value chain. Needless to mention the growth momentum driven by
the expansion plans of home grown designers, textiles, clothing and
accessories manufacturers, fashion and lifestyle retailers.
This phenomenon has created newer employment opportunities and a‘neverseen-before’demand for fashion education in the country. NIFT was set up with
thesupport of Central and state governments, to accommodatetheaspirations
of Generation Z who seek a change from the traditional career streams and are
exploring newer career avenues. With its 25 years of experience and expertise
in the field of fashion education, NIFT has responded to such aspirations with
enthusiasm. As a result, it is the undisputed leader in fashion education with a
global recognition.
The 2013 batch of NIFT has been shaped and mentored by able faculty
members and supported by industry professionals. I express my best wishes
to all graduating students including the Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) and
Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B. FTech.) batches of 2012 who entered the
class in 2008 and saw the see-saw ride of economy and stood firm to pursue
their career in fashion business. I present the 1422 Bachelor students coming
out from the Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Leather Design,Textile Design,
