Principal’s Message Welcome to Shine: An Evening Celebra6ng ESA! !
Thank you so much for coming out tonight to support ESA – a fantas6c community of singers, dancers, filmmakers, actors, ar6sts and musicians who are supported by school staff, guest ar6sts, parents and community members. Tonight is the first of what we are hoping will be an annual event to celebrate our alumni and current students, while raising funds to enhance the physical space at ESA. When the idea to hold a gala was first floated, we had no idea what the response from our alumni would be. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our graduates to come back and join the show and we couldn’t be more grateful. Since launching the event, I have also heard from many other former students who would love to be a part of this produc6on in future years (watch out for next year’s line up!). Our Co-‐Hosts tonight (and parents of ESA grads), Robin Duke and Rosemary Dunsmore were also happy and quick to sign on and our collec6ve thanks to these fabulous ar6sts. Of course, you will also see many of our current student groups on stage tonight and we thank them and their teachers for coming out, performing and suppor6ng this event to improve their school! As audience members, we rightly focus on the stage and give great applause to the fantas6c ar6sts we see there, but I also want to thank and congratulate those who organized this evening’s show (and, in many cases, who are also working on the capital campaign to improve school facili6es). Our Producer, David Ambrose, Stage Manager, Shari Wolfson and parent members of the produc6on team, David McFadgen and Ann Agar have worked closely together and have spent countless hours individually and collec6vely to put on tonight’s show. Through it all, they have been a pleasure to work with and have shown a commitment to our community that is truly amazing. Finally, ESA is a place where great things happen. Over the years, you have been a part of that journey and we thank you again for your ongoing support! And now, enjoy the show! Rob MacKinnon

Artists deserve a theatre equal to their talents!
As you sit in the show tonight, please consider
how much more comfortable you would be sitting
in a new chair, enjoying a clearer view of the stage. Over the past five years, ESA parents, community
members, staff and students have donated new
lighting and sound systems to the theatre; we are
now turning our fundraising efforts to replacing
our old, squeaky, uncomfortable chairs. There are
two great ways to support this initiative – please
consider both! Please go to our website (esainfo.ca) to ‘purchase
a chair’ at one of three levels. Each chair you
purchase will have a permanent plaque affixed
with your inscription – your family name, a
student’s name, a special ESA show, cast or
memory – whatever you choose!
We also hope you will mark your calendars on
May 28th to join us for Shine, an Evening to
Celebrate ESA Talent. Please see the inside front
cover of this program for more information, and
go to esainfo.ca to buy tickets.
Now, enjoy the show and do not daydream about
how wonderful it will be to sit in a new, plush
chair with improved sightlines!
