In the early 1800’s, settlers in Conestoga wagons were passing through the
area in increasing numbers. These travelers needed places to rest along
their long and demanding journeys, so stores and taverns sprouted up to
meet the growing demand. And thus, having earned its name honestly,
Travelers Rest was born.
Today, Travelers Rest is a city on the grow where residents and visitors alike
can dine in one of many popular restaurants. There are also several places
to stay and things to do while stopping in. So, whether you get active on
the Swamp Rabbit Trail or find rest in one of the many nearby state parks,
there’s something for everyone.
