Dear St. Hilda’s Community,
Estimada Comunidad de St. Hilda’s,
Words can’t begin to describe the range of emotions
we have all experienced over the last week since
the passing of Cata to be with the angels. As a
community, we can only imagine the pain and
angst that Veronica, Ricardo and Emilia are feeling
so it has been very important to show love and
compassion to the family at this time. Cata’s
memory remains with us and it is vital that we
continue to support Veronica, Ricardo and Emilia as
we all go forward on the road of life.
No hay palabras que puedan describir la emociones
que todos hemos sentido en esta última semana desde
que Cata se fue con los ángeles. Como comunidad
sólo podemos imaginar el dolor y la angustia que
Verónica, Ricardo y Emilia están sintiendo, por lo
que es muy importante que les demostremos amor y
compasión a la familia en este momento. La memoria
de Cata quedará con nosotros y es fundamental que
continuemos apoyando a Verónica, Ricardo y Emilia, a
medida que todos avanzamos en el camino de la vida.

Thank you to all for showing the real meaning
of community over this time. Our thoughts and
prayers are with Cata’s family and may we all be
united together through this experience.
Gracias a todos por demostrar el verdadero significado
de comunidad en estos días. Nuestros pensamientos
y oraciones están con la familia de Cata y espero que
esta experiencia nos una aún más.

Qué significa Cata en nuestras vidas
Querida Cata,
Esta no es una carta de despedida, sino más bien de
unión, de reconocimiento, para poder poner en palabras lo que significa Cata en nuestras vidas.
Tuvimos el privilegio de compartir con ella dos años
de Jardín, en los cuales la vimos divertirse, aprender,
disfrutar.
Recordamos su sonrisa, su alegría y buena disposición. ¡Le gustaba mucho jugar con sus amigas, pero
verla jugar con los varones no tenía desperdicio! Se
le transformaba la cara, disfrutaba como uno más y
se la veía plenamente feliz.
Cata se plantaba ante quien fuera necesario sin ningún tipo de temor. Su personalidad y carácter se lo
permitían, por lo que sabemos que en cualquier lado
donde ella se encuentre, no va a pasar desapercibida.
Cata, dejaste una huella profunda en cada una de
las que te conocimos, nos alegraste el alma durante
dos años, y sabemos que lo vas a seguir haciendo en
donde sea que estés, porque así te queremos recordar para siempre.

jugar con las nenas...
pero ¡cómo disfrutabas
hacerlo con los varones
y ser uno más!

En los primeros grados,
tus cuadernos estaban
llenos de color, con una
letra redondita, perfecta...impecable.
Siempre te reías de las conversaciones de los varones y hasta les dabas consejos para que mejoraran
su conducta. Cuentan tus maestras de segundo, que
tuviste que personificar durante el show a la madrastra de Hansel y Gretel... ¡Hacías un esfuerzo terrible
por parecer realmente malvada! Claro que te costa-

mucho menos maltratarlo.
En tercero, tu esfuerzo
y serenidad cautivó a
tus docentes. Expusiste
con gran soltura sobre
los planetas, como así
también en tu rol de
indiecita para el acto
del 12 de Octubre.
También durante la
Asamblea Internacional, subiste con orgullo
al escenario frente a
tus padres y abuela con una hermosa blusa bordada
y dos trenzas entrelazadas
Queridos Verónica y Ricardo, queremos que sepan
que el personal docente del Colegio Santa Hilda, se
siente honrado en haberla tenido, y que hoy está en
una parte muy especial de esta comunidad...nuestros
corazones.

Sin fin.
con cintas... Esas trenzas que cuando uno te las adulaba decías -”Me las hace mi mamá”.
También en tercero comenzaste tus clases de cello y
tu profesor, Daniel, te consideraba muy talentosa.
En cuarto, ya con dos hermosas colitas, te disponías
a trabajar con entusiasmo y compromiso. Sabías que
segundo ciclo no era fácil, pero no le temías a los
desafíos.
Durante la Semana de la Amistad sumaste las manitos de Emilia y las de mamá para que formaran parte
de nuestro proyecto...-“¡Para mi papá no alcanzó la
hoja porque tiene manos muy grandes!”, le dijiste a
la seño.
Siempre pendiente de la alegría de los otros y, en
especial, la de tu familia. Cuando te entregaron una
evaluación de Matemática exclamaste de alegría: “¡No sabés qué contenta que se va a poner mamá
porque estudiamos juntas!”
De hábitos y actitudes ejemplares, de pocas palabras
pero con una mirada que lo decía todo.
También en cuarto habías decidido cambiar el cello y
probaste con el oboe... cuánto te entusiasmó.
Ella era así... perseverante, respetuosa, observadora
y comprometida... una guerrera, como diría su papá.
Los adjetivos son muchos, pero ¿saben qué...? Nos
quedamos con uno: Cata MARAVILLOSA.
Un grupo de pequeños ángeles salió a jugar
Empezaron a correr, pero uno de ellos cayó
Era el más pequeño; aún no tenía alas,
No podía volar de regreso, por lo que cayó a la Tierra.
Los otros ángeles extrañaban a su amigo
Ellos se quedaron solos en el cielo azul,
El angelito ahora estaba viviendo en la Tierra
Mirando hacia el cielo cada noche, sin fin.
El tiempo pasó y el angelito creció a ser una niña feliz
Pero ahora era el momento en que sus alas debían florecer
Abrirse, y volar de regreso
Hacia el dulce pacífico universo, sin fin.
El angelito extrañaba su casa,
Pero también amaba su vida en la Tierra
Y así, dejó un pedazo de ella en nuestros corazones.
Sus recuerdos y risas se quedarán con nosotros, sin fin.
Finalmente le crecieron sus alas y voló de regreso
Hacia un paraíso infinito de alegría
Pero siempre mirándo hacia abajo con una sonrisa en su rostro,
Mientras juega con otros ángeles en el cielo
Sin fin.

increíble, sabía jugar en equipo y no le gustaba perder a nada. Una de esas jugadoras que siempre queremos tener de nuestro lado.

Los sentimientos también se trabajan
Para Cata Salom Vons
Mi primer encuentro con Cata fue este año, una
semana antes de que comenzaran las clases. Ella
estaba en el local de uniformes en Hurlingham y me
detuve a charlar con su madre. Cuando salió, estaba
muy entusiasmada por conocer a su nueva docente
de inglés. Quería saber qué íbamos a aprender - quería empezar ya. ¡Su cálida sonrisa y ganas de aprender también me hicieron tener ganas de comenzar!
Cata era una alumna que siempre dio lo mejor de sí
y quería saber si había algo más que pudiera hacer
para mejorar su trabajo. Cuando levantaba su mano
en clase por lo general era para preguntar: “¿Está
bien, Mrs. Prettejohn?”
Hacia trabajo extra en casa y se aseguraba de terminar todo lo que empezaba.
La última vez que vi a Cata estaba sentada en su
cama en el hospital y seguía sonriendo. Quería saber
qué estábamos aprendiendo en clase. Antes de irme
me preguntó: “¿Por favor, no me mandaría algún trabajo para hacer?”
Cata nunca dejó de intentar y desear hacer todo lo
mejor posible. Cuando las cosas se pongan difíciles,
pensaré en su sonrisa y trataré de seguir adelante.
Espero que todos podamos intentar hacer un poco
más y estar contentos de aprender cosas nuevas...
especialmente nuestros hermosos niños de Year 4.
Cata era una niña especial con una sonrisa especial
que nunca olvidaré. Tratemos todos de sonreír más,
a Cata le gustaría.

El día martes trabajamos con los chicos de 4º Año,
acompañándolos en la expresión y elaboración de
sus sentimientos. El miércoles las hicimos extensivas a los alumnos de 5º y 6º Año.
En música trabajaron con expresión corporal moviendo el cuerpo al son de diferentes ritmos. En
otros cursos trabajaron con expresión artística para
conectar sus emociones y luego verbalizarlas.
Los chicos de 4º participaron de una actividad especial a continuación de la ceremonia. En ella hicieron
unos corazones en los que cada uno puso un recuerdo especial de Cata.
Estos son algunos de ellos:
“Era una gran compañera.”
“Me acuerdo de tu sonrisa y de cuando
jugábamos juntas.”
“Yo hice el cumple con Cata.”
“Cata siempre se esforzaba cuando
hacíamos pases en hockey.”
“Yo jugaba con ella a la mancha escondida.”
“Ella me ayudaba a copiar del pizarrón.”
“Me sentía feliz cuando estaba con Cata. ”

Cata y el deporte
Cata era, en las clases de Educación Física, una esponja absorbiendo todo, preguntando, colaborando,
corrigiendo, esforzándose y superándose día a día.
Siempre atenta, no recuerdo haber tenido que decirle
nunca nada para llamar su atención.

What Cata means in our lives
Dear Cata,
This is not a farewell letter. It is a mere way of expressing union, acknowledgement and putting into
words what Cata means in our lives.
We had the privilege of sharing two school years
with her in Kindergarten, in which we saw her
have fun, learn and enjoy.
We remember her smile, her joy and good disposition. She loved to play with the girls, but seeing
her with the boys was great! Her face was transformed and she became one of them! We could
see her absolutely happy.
Cata stood her ground at all times without fear due
to her strong personality, which is why we know
that wherever she is today, she won’t go unseen.
Cata, you left a deep mark in all of those who knew
you. You brought joy to our lives for two years and
we know that you will still do wherever you are;
because that is the way we want to remember you
forever.

In your early years your
copybooks were very

You always laughed at the boys’ conversations and
even gave them some advice as to how to behave
properly. Your Year 2 teachers tell us that in the
show you had to turn into Hansel and Gretel’s stepmother…. You made a terrific effort to look really
evil! It was clear that you tried very hard because

you never wanted to
contradict or mistreat
anybody.
In Year 3 the effort
made and your quietness enthraled your
teachers. You made an
incredible presentation about the planets
and you acted as an
Indian on October 12th.
During the International Assembly you
proudly went on stage
in front of your parents and grandmother
wearing a beautiful embroidered blouse and two
braids tied with ribbons…
Dear Verónica and Ricardo, we want you to know
that the St. Hilda’s staff is honoured to have had
her as a student, and that today she is in a very
special part of our community... She’s in our
hearts.

A Little Angel
Endlessly.
Whenever anyone praised those braids, you said,
“My mummy does them for me”.
In Year 3 you started your cello lessons and your
teacher, Daniel, considered you were very talented.
In Year 4 you worked with enthusiasm and commitment wearing two lovely pony tails. You knew that
the upper forms were not easy but you were not
afraid of challenges.
During Friendship Week you added Emilia’s and
mummy’s hands to our project …“the`page was not
big enough for my father’s hands because they are
too big!” you told your teacher.
You were always watchful about other people’s
happiness, but particularly your family’s. When you
were given back a Mathematics test you exclaimed
with joy, “You can’t imagine how happy mummy
will be because we studied together!”
Your demeanour and attitude set an example; a person of few words, but with very expressive eyes.
In Year 4 you decided to change the cello and tried
the oboe… so much enthusiasm!
She was like that… persevering, respectful, observant and committed… a warrior, as her father
would say. Adjectives, there are many, but do you
know what…? We’ll just use one: WONDERFUL
Cata!
A group of little angels went out to play
They started running, but one of them fell
It was the smallest; it didn’t have wings yet,
It couldn’t fly back, so it fell down to Earth.
The other angels missed their friend
They were left alone in the blue skies,
The little angel was now living on Earth
Looking up to the skies every night, endlessly.
Time passed and the little angel grew into a happy child
But now it was time for her wings to flourish
Spread them out, and fly back
To the sweet peaceful universe, endlessly.
The little angel missed her home,
But she also loved her life on Earth
And so, she left a piece of her in our hearts.
Her memories and laughs will stay with us, endlessly.
She finally grew her wings and flew back
To an infinite paradise of joy
But always looking down to us with a smile on her face,
While playing with the other angels in heaven
Endlessly.

defender. She knew how to play as a team and
didn’t like losing at anything. One of those players
you always want to have on our side.

We also work on feelings
For Cata Salom Vons
My first meeting with Cata was a week before
school began this year. She was in the uniform
shop in Hurlingham and I had stopped for a chat
with her mum. When Cata came out, she was
very excited to meet her new English teacher. She
wanted to know what we would be learning - she
couldn’t wait to start. Her warm smile and eagerness to learn made me feel excited to start too!
Cata was a student who always gave her best and
wanted to know if there was something she could
do to improve her work. When her hand went
up in class it was usually to ask, “Is this OK Mrs
Prettejohn?”
She did extra work at home and she made sure
she finished everything she started.
The last time I saw Cata, she was sitting on her
hospital bed and she was still smiling. She wanted
to know what we had been learning about in class.
Before I left she asked, “Could you please send me
some work to do?”
Cata never stopped trying and wanting to do her
best. When things get difficult I will think of her
smile and try to carry on. I hope we can all try a little bit harder and be excited to learn new things...
especially our lovely Year 4 children.
Cata was a special girl with a special smile that I
will never forget. Let’s all try to smile more - Cata
would like that.

We worked with the Y4 children helping them to
express and work on their feelings on Tuesday,
and on Wednesday we extended this activity to Y5
and Y6 children.
During Music classes the children worked on body
expression by moving to the sound of different
rhythms. Some groups worked on artistic expression to connect with their emotions and be able to
express them.
After the ceremony, the Y4 groups took part on a
special activity: they all cut out heart shapes and
wrote a special memory they had of Cata.
These are some of those memories:
“She was a great classmate.”
“I remember your smile and when we
played together.”
“I made my birthday party with her.”
“Cata always tried her best when
passing the ball in hockey.”
“I played hide and seek with her.”
“She helped me to copy from the board.”
“I felt happy when I was with Cata.”

During P.E., Cata was a sponge absorbing everything, asking questions, working together, correcting mistakes, striving to achieve and surpassing
herself every day. Always attentive; I can’t remember ever having to call her attention to something.
She was a pillar for the hockey team, an incredible
