PG 03 FEATURED PRODUCT - COOLPIX 8800 FEATURED PRODUCT - COOLPIX 8800 The Coolpix 8800 comes with a well designed grip that will enable the photographer to better handle the camera thus eliminate the possible of camera shake. Vibration Reduction System One major problem with long zooming range is that the lens’s aperture will become smaller thus letting less light enters the camera. This will cause the camera to adjust the shutter speed to a slower speed to provide the correct exposure. The slower shutter speed may result in camera shake (cause by the shaking of camera) or motion shake (subject is moving). To overcome this limitation, the Coolpix 8800 is equipped with VR (Vibration Reduction) The VR System will be able to detect and compensates for small camera movements that caused image to be blur. Effectively it will allow you to shoot at 3 stops below your physical limitation. For example, normally when the shutter speed is below 1/60 of a second, the trembling of the hand will result in blur image. With the Vibration Reduction turn on, you will be able to shoot at 1/30, 1/15 and up to 1/8 of a second. This will enable more shooting opportunity and better, sharp images! VIBRATION REDUCTION SYSTEM GET 10 X THE EXCITEMENT Digital Cameras come in all shape and sizes. The market trend and demand from consumer has set the megapixels race from the 2 Megapixels 3 years ago to the current 8 Megapixels in the year 2004. With a high megapixels, you will be able to perform cropping and yet be able to print out a reasonable quality print, but the print out size will be reduce greatly depending on the resolution of your cropped area. Imagine the scenario that you want to take a close up of a tower on the mountaintop with your 8 Megapixels Camera with limited zooming. By performing cropping on the image will result in a small image size less than a megapixels. The print out result will limit you to no bigger than a 3R size print. To overcome this issue, Nikon is proud to present a Prosumer Digital Compact Camera that is equipped PG 04 with a high quality 8 Megapixels Image Sensor and to extend the capability of able to take far away subject for big print, it comes with a 10 x Optical Zoom. Therefore you will be able to obtain a close up of your subject at a full 8 Megapixels without the need of cropping. The 10x Optical Zoom is equivalent to 35mm – 350mm [35mm Film Format]. CCD Image Sensor The Angular Velocity Sensors detect camera movement Amazingly, this is all encapsulated in a compact Magnesium Alloy Body, which weights only 600gm without battery and memory card. Comparing this to a professional range of camera with a lens capable of reaching 350mm will be bulky and heavy. For example, a SLR based lens such as the AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 G weighs about 2500gm excluding any camera body. This makes it cumbersome for beginner or for traveler who just want to capture sceneries without the heavy load. The VR Unit automatically adjusts to the camera-shake by compensating for image movement on the CCD PG 05 FEATURED PRODUCT - COOLPIX 8800 Visualize the effect of the Coolpix 8800 with and without Vibration Reduction With Vibration Reduction turned on, it will effectively allow the user to shoot at near impossible shutter speed such as 1/7 second by using bare hand. Now we have a choice not to lure around heavy tripod to get that ambience rich shot. FEATURED PRODUCT - COOLPIX 8800 D-Lighting Expansion Ever face the problem of having an underexpose image? Especially from those images with bright background. The Coolpix 8800 makes it easy for exposure correction within the camera for those tiny mistakes make by the user. We called this the DLighting. For those who still feel that the Coolpix 8800 is insufficient to meet their Extreme shooting scenarios, Nikon allows the user to push the limit of the camera by using various attachment and accessories. Getting Wider Coverage Getting more zoom VR OFF Shutter Speed Aperture : 1/7 s : f3.2 Without D-Lighting VR ON Shutter Speed Aperture : 1/7 s : f3.2 With D-Lighting D-Lighting is able to analyze the overall exposure of the image capture and intelligently increase the exposure for those underexpose area without affecting the correctly expose area. The newly modified image will be save as another image file. PG 06 Wideangle Converter Attachment WM-E80 With the attachment of the WM-E80, it is able to reduce the focal length by 0.8x. Therefore at 35mm, you will effectively obtain 28mm wide angle. Telephoto Converter Attachment TC-E17ED With the attachment of TC-E17ED, it is able to increase the focal length by 1.7x. Therefore at 350mm, you will effectively obtain 600mm approximately. PG 07 FEATURED PRODUCT - COOLPIX 8800 FEATURED PRODUCT - COOLPIX 8800 Additional Features that will spice up your shooting experiences Getting better exposure The Coolpix 8800 is one of the Coolpix Series that supports TTL flash with external speedlight. TTL flash is achievable with the use of iTTL speedlight SB-600 and SB-800. This will enable you to have a better flash coverage as compare to the built in flash. For example, the SB-600 is able to reach a distance of 30m at 35mm/ISO100 while the SB-800 is able to reach a distance of 38m at 35mm/ISO100 Infra Red Remote Controller The Coolpix 8800 comes with an Infra Red Remote Controller, ML-L3 that enables you to trigger the shutter at a maximum distance of 5m. These will enable you to capture candid shot without the subject noticing you or group photo shot without you sprinting to your location in order to be capture in it. Battery pack, MB-CP11 Going away for a long trip where charging your batteries is impossible? The MB-CP11 is your solution as it utilized 6 alkaline batteries to power up the Coolpix 8800. The MB-CP11 provides vertical shutter release as well as zooming button to facilitate portrait photography. Coolwalker MSV-01 Going away for a long trip without worrying about capacity anymore with the Coolwalker. The Coolwalker is an external portable device with a storage space of 30Gig from Nikon. The Coolwalker allows you to readily download images from your CF Card to the Coolwalker thus freeing the precious space in the CF Card for your next shoot. Battery Pack MB-Cp11 The Coolwalker even allow you to playback images in the CF Card or the Coolwalker on the large 2.5” LCD Color Screen. Thus enable you to verify that the images are safely transferred. End is the days where you need to purchase multiple CF Card or lugging around your laptop. SB-600 Infra Red Remote Controller ML-L3 SB-800 PG 08 The Coolpix 8800 is ideal for those who go for performance, large print out and long zooming minus off the need to carry along big and heavy lenses. The Coolpix 8800 is able to provide a very versatile shooting experience with its focal length and ranges of accessories available. Many nature watchers, including bird watchers, would like to be able to take photos of their favorite subjects such as birds or animals in the safari to flowers and plants in the garden without the subject noticing them. What if you were able to capture such magnificent moments as permanent images to share with your family, friends and associates around the world? In this article, we will introduce you to the world of digital scoping. We will show you various ways to push the limit of your existing Nikon equipments to the next level. Nikon is proud to present the nature watchers a portable system that is able to take beautiful supertelephoto pictures of those difficult to capture subjects. PG 12 We called this Nikon Digitalscoping System. Nikon Digitalscoping System makes it possible to record images viewed through a Fieldscope or Spotting scope. An attachment is required to act as a bridge between the scope and a Nikon Digital SLR or Nikon Coolpix series camera. It’s a handy, affordable way to make dazzling super-telephoto digital images a vital part of your life. Most commonly used by the nature watcher is Nikon range of fieldscopes as they are able to provide a wider viewing angle. There are several ways of capturing what you see from the viewfinder of the scoping device to a digital image. User can attached a fieldscope or spotting scope to a Nikon Digital SLR or Nikon Coolpix Camera (Coolpix 4200 / 5200). SLR Cameras With the combination of FSA-L1 with Digital SLR, it effectively transforms your Nikon SLR Cameras to a super-telephoto lens that is able to take spectacular closeup images. • Digital SLR Cameras - Usable models: D70, D100, D2X, D2H, D1X or D1H Fieldscope F-number When the fieldscope is attached to a Nikon Digital SLR camera, it will transform your Fieldscope into a 1,200mm or 1,500mm* Super Telephoto lens and take spectacular closeup images. *35mm-format equivalent. Avoid bright color like red and yellow colors as it enables the nature subject to detect the presence of foreign invader in their territory. • Use a stable Tripod Due to the long zooming distance, you will need to have a stable platform to mount the equipment to. This is to reduce any camera shake that is caused by the press of the shutter button or due to strong wind. PG 16 • Use timer mode of the camera or mechanical shutter release Depending on the subject that you intend to capture. You may wish to activate the timer mode of your camera to capture the shot as any shake of the camera even from the press of the shutter by the finger can result in blur images. If you are using Coolpix 4200 or 5200 with the FSB1 it comes with a mechanical shutter that will reduce the amount of camera shake result from the pressing of the shutter. However, at temperatures of minus 8 degrees celsius in winter Shangrila during the day time, the D70 packed a load of power and performance. The dry, cold and harsh weather did not deter the camera from walloping 500 JPEG images within a 2GB LexarPro CF card with one Lithium battery. Every image is different.” Steven is quick to say. “The various white balance options render very good results. The custom men us allows me to have lots of control over the colour, tone, hue and contrast settings. Not to be left out, for the Multi program feature, the “Landscape” mode proved to be a valuable asset for landscape shots, giving very vivid colours that brings out the life in the scenery. This allows me to focus on the composition and right timing (as the lighting condition keeps changing). What surprised me further is it has very little noise even at high ISO settings. This is what I called ‘using technology to take better and more challenging pictures’.” “I do not usually shoot RAW as I felt the JPEG is good enough for my exhibition purpose. I usually do not have exposure issues with my cameras. I will shoot RAW only if the situation has very very tricky lighting condition.” “In a nutshell, this little beast is trusty and affordable. Beneath its small body, packs a load of power. It did not fail to meet up with my expectation. This is the ideal camera for travel photographers!” An exhibition of the works taken during the trip is scheduled in the first quarter of 2005. However it was a year spent traveling throughout Asia after graduation that truly inspired the photographer in Scott, opening his eyes to the beauty and uniqueness of the region, its people and their cultures. Having called Vietnam and now Singapore his home, and traveling extensively across Asia for almost a decade, Scott has developed a passion for picture making and a unique photojournalism-style of storytelling through his images. The recent addition of the Nikon D70 to Scott’s collection is his first foray into the world of serious digital photography, opening up myriad imaging possibilities, as well as an exciting learning curve in which to climb. The D70’s rapid startup time, simple menu functionality, excellent continuous shooting and image processing speed and the flexibility of the AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm kit lens meant that Scott never missed a photo opportunity on his recent visits to the Chinese Grand Prix, through the markets of Ho Chi Minh City and the tributaries of the Mekong Delta or in the backstreets of Old Delhi and at the majestic beauty of the Taj Mahal.
