From the desk of the Administrator,
Sorry about missing newsletter last month. We have all been very busy around here the
last two months. It is amazing how many members both men and women have donated
so much time and money to the lodge.
Kent is still fixing lunch every day, Leslie & Kim are doing burgers and the grill, the
breakfast crews; Doug, Terry, Roger, Andrea, Eric, Kim, Kent, cashiers & waitresses; too
many to list. Also Tom and Courtney for park clean up, Loren, Brian, Robert Humphrey delivered a load of
wood to members. Clayton Hackett put all of our new bar stools together along with anything else I needed
done; all I have to do is call Robert and Clayton. Jim and Sharon Redd donated a large amount of money for
our scholarship fund. Al Christie donated all the money to buy 10 more bar stools. Now we only need 11
more. Bruce Hawkins donated our new food trailer and also did all the work putting it together with Larry
Horner helping anytime Bruce called him.
Pony Express went over well. Danny started it off by winning 1st place in the chili cook off. The float
was put together very hastily but still looked great. NorCal Transportation loaned us a truck and driver
Sam Brown. Mike Mackill was instrumental in getting the flatbed and truck along with Kenny Ribera.
There were quite a few people on the float along with Kim Hines, Ted Nelson, etc.
We will be having a small Bar-B-Que in our park the 4th of July, see the flyer on the bulletin board.
Finally going to close and to say it is nice to have so many members helping to do things around
here. Delbert and Loren have been trimming trees in the park, it was much needed.
Thank you,
Fred Jewell
The next Legion Meeting will be on July 16, 2016 at our Lodge.
Notice: as a result of the recent initial assembly of the Lodge #208 Legion members, a motion carried
to assemble the Legion on a regular and periodic basis. We have elected to have Legion meetings on
the third Saturday of each month at 2:00 PM. All LOOM members are invited to attend Legion
meetings. Ted Nelson, District Legion Vice President

"Our Pony Express Days was a huge success! Our float was featured in the Times Standard Newspaper. In the chili
cook off, we took first place out of nine competitors with Chili Verde. I want to thank all of the volunteers beginning
with the float, and thank you to the owner of the truck Nor Cal Trans, Jason Belt. Thank you to the driver, Sam
Brown. In addition, for their overall help, Kenny Rubira and Mike Mackill. A big thank you to Kim Hines for helping
with the chili cook off. I also want to thank everyone who helped during the Pony Express Days Festival held in
Pierson Park; Tally, Kim, Marilyn, Jackie, Loren, Tommy, Brad, Brian, and Trucker.
A big thank you to Tommy and Courtney for maintaining the park onsite at the moose, and the Moose Legion for the additional
maintenance to keep our park looking nice for our community. The success of the lodge depends on all our volunteers and I am
humbled at the participation this year, especially all those who have stepped up to cook. We always need more volunteers in the
lodge, so please feel free to approach myself or other members of the administration for more information on how you can get
involved in keeping our community active and successful.
We will be having our 4th of July festival in our moose park, and we need volunteers!
Our annual Moose Picnic is approaching fast and we need donations for raffle items! It will be held at Camp Bauer on August 7th.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!
Sincerely,
Danny Vazquez
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Lee Cox and William Linton. Rest in Peace and God Bless.
Fellow Moose brothers and sisters,
I post the Newsletter on our Facebook Moose Page every month for easy access on the computer.
Please email pictures to me at: [email protected].
Thanks in advance for your help! Let’s let ‘em know we’re here!

HISTORIAN:
A New Assignment – By Mitch Williams
Starting sometime prior to January 2016 I began to pester Ted Nelson, our District #1 California Nevada Moose Association President,
with the notion of marshaling our Legion members for a face-to-face meet and greet. The idea was just to meet and see what might
spring forth from that meeting, with the hope that we might resurrect our legion functions. As a result we have started Legion Committee
meetings, and are loosely connected to Legion #172 for full fledged Legion activities. We also perform several heart of the community
functions out of our lodge Legion Committee.
District #1 business is conducted over a geographic area which encompasses McKinleyville Lodge #208 and Eureka Lodge #636. The
District President performs an oversight function, comprised of bidirectional communications between the lodges of the District and the
California Nevada Moose Association.
From the Association website: The objectives of the Association are to bring together in closer fraternal cooperation the lodges of the
Loyal Order of Moose and the membership of such lodges in the states of California and Nevada; to aid and promote the purposes of the
Loyal Order of Moose; to build the membership strength of the Order; to exchange ideas and ideals which may be of benefit to the
various lodges and their members; to promote interest in the work of the Ritual Staffs and similar units; to stimulate participation in
Community Service programs; to adopt programs and projects for the betterment of Mooseheart and Moosehaven to include the building
of the Endowment Fund for the support of these institutions; to foster closer relationships between lodges in California and Nevada and
lodges in neighboring states/providences; and to coordinate the programs and directives of Moose International, Inc. and the Supreme
Lodge.
Ted Nelson recently announced that he will be stepping down as District President and asked me to assume that office, and I have
enthusiastically accepted. The office is a State office rather than a Lodge or Legion office, but none the less offers a path to fraternal
advancement which would otherwise be unavailable as I live in the Bay Area and cannot attend Lodge Business Meetings – and thus
cannot hold a Lodge Office. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the Order.
Yours in Love and Service,
Mitch Williams, President pro tem, District #1, California Nevada Moose Association.

Just a short note; another busy month has gone by. I would like to thank Marilyn,
Tallie, Dale, Jackie & Tracy for helping with Father’s Day Breakfast, it went really
well .
We are looking forward to Jackie’s Bingo Night. Flyers will be posted in Social
Quarters with more information.
I would also like to thank Jim and Sharon Redd for their donations toward School scholarships
very much appreciated.
I want to encourage all the WOTM to join in at the meeting’s.
See you soon,
Tanya, Sr. Regent
Co-Worker of the month is Sharon Redd, thanks for all you do!!!!
*****If you bring a guest to the lodge, please sign them in at the front door in our book and be sure to have
them leave with you. They cannot be left at the lodge by themselves without being a member. Thanks you!
*****Please start using the front or back door to enter the lodge as the kitchen door will be locked in the near
future. If you use the side door you will be carded so please have your Moose card with you at all times. Thank
you all for your cooperation.
(If anyone is interested in taking over the Newsletter please let me know, I will be willing to train
anyone interested. I enjoy doing it for the Lodge but would like to share the responsibility with
someone. It’s very important that we keep our members and families informed on what is
happening at the Lodge. It gives us a chance to thank members who help out in all aspects;
dinners, events, music, birthdays and so much more. Thank you.)
