Österreichische Lotterien Ges.m.b.H. (hereinafter
referred to as Austrian Lotteries) is an internationally recognised gaming enterprise that is aware of
its responsibilities and acts in an innovative and
partner-oriented manner. We offer a broad range of
highest quality lottery games to adults interested in
gaming. “Gaming with Responsibility” is the basis
of all of our activities. This approach reflected in our
demeanour towards all stakeholders is practised by
the management as well as by our entire staff.
Our efforts are focused on the confidence and trust
placed in our enterprise by the customers and by the
licensor. We combine regulatory responsibility with
entrepreneurial commitment and embody these core
principles credibly. Further, our work is continuously
validated by our economic success. Our sound financial strength is the foundation of our company.

Our business model is distinguished by our power
of innovation. We develop and employ state-ofthe-art technology in order to guarantee optimum

of our sustained success. As a modern company,
we stand for an attractive working environment
that promotes open communication as well as an
efficient work-family balance.
We consider ourselves to be and act as good

represent the interests of Austria and its population.
Based on the license granted to us, we aim to offer
the complete range of our products on a nationwide

retail partners and strive to provide the best possible service to our customers. We place exceptional
value on compliance with our Responsible Gaming
principles.
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
FOREWORD by THE Management BOARD REGARDING
THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2015
Dear reader,
The success of lottery games is generally influenced
by two significant factors: the attractiveness of the products themselves – including the formula, their appearance
and the way the customer may find his or her luck – and
of course the prize that can be won. In our daily work, we
mainly focus on the first factor, by offering our customers exciting games and continuing to work on enhancing
these games. The second factor, the amount of the prize
to be won, however, is rather difficult to plan and predict.
Of course, every product is based on an elaborate prize
pyramid leading up to the first prize. However, whether
the first prize is won immediately in the first round or
whether there will be a jackpot – and maybe multiple
jackpots in the following – has always been and will
always be up to the tempers of “Lady Luck”.
During the past financial year, this mix of successful
innovations and the mood swings of Lady Luck led to a
varying performance of the games. In the field of electronic lotteries on win2day, the casino-game product
launches and the expansion of the mobile range resulted
in a plus of more than 10 per cent, leading to sales of
EUR 1.3 billion. Lotto “6 out of 45” enjoyed veritable
jackpot fireworks and thus sales went up by 5 per cent
to EUR 615.67 million. Bingo also yielded an increase of
5.1 per cent, which can be traced back to long multi-bonus cycles and the correspondingly high tier totals. A little
more restrained was the performance of EuroMillions due
to a general low Europot development. The Video Lottery
Terminals of WINWIN also experienced a small decline
in the face of new regulatory framework conditions – i.e.
reduction to 50 terminals per outlet and the introduction
of a mandatory player card. Overall, Austrian Lotteries
generated sales of EUR 3,084.05 million in 2015, which
equals 2.12 per cent less than the result of the record
year 2014.
3
Of course, 2015 also has a whole lot of significant
winners on record: 237 customers won a top cash prize
of EUR 100,000 and more – 49 of them even became
millionaires last year. In total, Austrian Lotteries paid out
EUR 2,336.41 million in prize money.
Once again, the federal budget was also among
last year’s winners, as Austrian Lotteries paid a total of
EUR 444.59 million in taxes and duties. Throughout the
30-year history of the company, this results in a total of
EUR 10.26 billion. Austrian sports also profited once again
from EUR 80 million of special federal sports funding.
Since 1986, EUR 1.3 million have been contributed by
Austrian Lotteries to this cause. Additionally, we also take
on our socio-political responsibility in the form of promotion and support for projects and initiatives showing a high
degree of public benefit. Various partnerships have developed over many years and thereby guarantee continuity
and planning security for organisations and institutions.
From the Vienna Art History Museum (Kunsthistorisches
Museum Wien), the Austrian National Library and the
WWF Austria, to the Schönbrunn Zoo and the European
Forum Alpbach – Austrian Lotteries contributes to all
these institutions for the public benefit. Especially worth
of mentioning in this context are our “Lotterien Tage”
(“Lotteries Days”) that give our customers the possibility
to visit museums or theatre performances for free. Within
the past five years, more than 40,000 people seized this
opportunity and enjoyed free entrance.
For Austrian Lotteries, “Gaming with Responsibility”
also means continuous improvement and advancement and
to comply with international standards in player protection i.e. Responsible Gaming. In 2015, the company once again
achieved full certification according to the Responsible
Gaming Standards of European Lotteries as well as the
GamCare Social Responsibility Certificate for win2day. Our
Responsible Gaming Academy has established a reputation as one of the most important information and training
events in this area and was held for the 12th time in 2015.
National and international experts gave speeches about
social gaming, the related dangers and the legal framework.
Last year’s academy welcomed more than 180 participants.
Aside from our employees, once again representatives of
Austria’s Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health as
well as members of renowned research, consultation and
therapy institutions in Austria joined this event.
In the field of lottery games, our customers enjoyed a
great number of new features and offers in the past year.
4
The system play option was introduced for EuroMillions,
the Lotto portfolio was enhanced with the new system
quick pick and we launched a system play programme
that allows our customers to design their own systems.
Our Brieflos (break-open tickets) line experienced a full
relaunch and with the 2nd Chance, Austrian Lotteries offers
its customers a second chance of winning via its website
www.lotterien.at. win2day scored with various new – and
some also mobile – casino games and WINWIN opened
three new outlets.
However, there were many other moments that
made 2015 a very moving and exciting year at Austrian
Lotteries. Friedrich Stickler, member of the Managing
Board, resigned from his post in late June after more than
30 years of working for the Group and entered into a very
active form of retirement (he now works as a freelance
consultant). At this point, we would like to wish him all
the best and thank him for his tireless commitment to
Austrian Lotteries.
The unexpected death of Leo Wallner was a very sad
and shocking moment for all of us. He was the “founding
father” of Austrian Lotteries and the one who set out the
right path for this company with his future-oriented vision
that made us one of the leading lottery operators in the
world.
At the time you will be holding this annual report
for 2015 in your hands, Austrian Lotteries will already
have arrived in the middle of its anniversary year 2016.
It was on 7 September 1986 that the first Lotto draw
was conducted in Austria – 30 years have since then
passed, 30 years in which the company has launched and
enhanced various different games and has become part of
a Group that offers a broad range of games of chance. At
this point we would like to thank all our stakeholders for
their support, especially our employees who have contributed a large part of Austrian Lotteries current success.

Geschäftsbericht Österreichische Lotterien 2015
Leo Wallner (1935-2015)
Games of chance in Austria and therefore the success story of the Casinos Austria/Austrian Lotteries
Group is inseparably tied to the name and the person of
Leo Wallner.
Leo Wallner’s career began in 1967. As a graduate
of the Hochschule für Welthandel (now the Vienna
University of Economics and Business) he was working
as an economic advisor for Austria’s Federal Chancellor
when in 1967 it was time to pursue a new path regarding
casino operations in Austria.
On 15 February 1968, upon insistence of the Chancellor, Wallner himself was appointed director general
of this newly found company, the Spielbanken AG (since
1985 known as Casinos Austria AG). The foundation was
laid for “games of chance made in Austria” and in the
following Leo Wallner cultivated Spielbanken AG into a
profitable, internationally renowned company.
In 1986, Wallner presented the next grand plan for
the Austrian gaming market. Entrusted with the concept
to launch new forms of games of chance on the Austrian
market by Austrian Minister of Finance at the time Herbert
Salcher, Wallner introduced Lotto “6 aus 45” in Austria.
For this purpose, the Lotto Toto Gesellschaft (since
1991 known as Österreichische Lotterien, i.e. Austrian
Lotteries) was formed and he became Chairman of the
Managing Board on 2 July 1986. From the very first draw
on 7 September 1986 onwards, Lotto became a huge
success in Austria.
His exceptional career offered him various additional
prestigious and honorary positions: From December 1990
to October 2009 he acted as President of the Austrian
Olympic Committee and from February 1998 to December 2014 he was a member of the International Olympic
Committee.
The range of games of Austrian Lotteries was continuously expanded under Wallner’s leadership, however, always in due consideration of our products’ social
compatibility. Some of the highlights in this context were
the launch of scratch-off tickets in 1995 and the cross-
country lottery game “EuroMillions” in 2004.
On 7 May 2007, Wallner resigned from his office
as Director General of Casinos Austria and Chairman
of the Managing Board of Austrian Lotteries. He then
switched to the Supervisory Boards of both companies
as Vice-President and remained in this position until
June 2011.

Report of the Supervisory Board
Corporate Functions
Cross-company services are bundled in corporate
functions available to the entire Group. These functions
are also strategically assigned to one or several members
of the Managing Board and are managed by one or several
division heads.
During the business year, the Supervisory Board
obtained regular reports about the business progress
and the course of business from the Managing Board.
Thereby, the Supervisory Board was able to monitor legal
compliance, expedience, profitability and cost-effectiveness, as well as the appropriate fulfilment of the management’s social obligations.
In the context of monitoring the management
a ctivities of the Managing Board pursuant to Art. 30j,
p aragraph 1 GmbHG (Act on Companies with Limited
Liability), the Supervisory Board finds that the Managing
Board has executed all business procedures of the company in compliance with the memorandum and articles of
association, the decisions and resolutions of the General
Meeting of Shareholders and of the Supervisory Board,
as well as in compliance with all legal regulations. Further,
the Managing Board has led and guided the company as a
whole and in all segments in accordance with the purpose
of the company and with the intended success.
In the Supervisory Board meetings, aspects of business policy were addressed and important decisions, in
particular regarding transactions reliant on the approval of
the Supervisory Board, were made, aiming at pro-actively
monitoring the planning of and involvement in future commercial operations.
The report of BDO Austria GmbH, an auditing and tax
consulting company in Vienna, on the audit of the company’s financial statements dated 31 December 2015 was
submitted to the Supervisory Board. The audit executed
by BDO Austria GmbH of the financial statements and the
management report compiled by the Managing Board did
not give grounds for any kind of objection. An unqualified
audit opinion was issued for the financial statements.

Framework Conditions
The corporate purpose of Austrian Lotteries is defined in the
Austrian Gaming Act, the explanatory notes hereto and the government notice
on the licence by the legislator. The essential objective of the Austrian regulations
regarding the gaming business is to protect customers against an excessive offer of
gaming products, as well as against dubious providers.
The Austrian Gaming Act (GSpG) is the basis for
Austrian Lotteries to legally offer games of chance on
the Austrian market. It contains the applicable legal
provisions, which are the “game rules” for Austrian
Lotteries. Their observance is monitored and examined
by the licensor. Moreover, with the government notice
dated 10 O ctober 2011 concerning the licence according
to Art. 14 GSpG permitting the operation of games as
defined in Arts. 6 through 12b GSpG, BGBl. (Federal Law
Gazette) No. 620/1989 as amended in BGBl. I No. 76/2011
awarded to Austrian Lotteries for the period ending on
30 September 2027, the licensor has defined unambiguous obligations which must be consistently implemented
by Austrian Lotteries.
Therefore, the licensee is obligated to report to the
licensor, and, among others, give an account of the
following:
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-

Measures regarding player protection and the prevention of gambling addiction, as well as the orientation
of these measures to current international standards,
including statistical data in terms of suspensions and

licensee to ensure the observance of responsible-
advertising criteria

of money laundering and criminal activities, as well
as their orientation to applicable current international

money laundering, as well as malversations by players
or internal delinquents)

as in particular the development of the number of retail
partners

Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
These measures provide for thorough monitoring by
the licensor regarding the scope of the gaming portfolio
and the way of operational management conducted by
the licensee in terms of regulatory and socio-political
objectives. On the one hand, the licensor guarantees the
prevention of criminal elements entering the Austrian
gaming market by monitoring the given shareholder
structures, on the other hand, the licensor regulates and
approves each new product through the gaming rules,
which themselves must contain Responsible Gaming
concepts. In Art. 14, paragraph 2 (7) of the Austrian
Gaming Act (GSpG), the legislator clearly stipulates that a
license may only be awarded to an applicant expected to
best exercise the licence, especially due to the applicant’s experience, infrastructure, development measures
and capital resources, as well as due to the applicant’s
systems and institutions pertaining to the prevention of
a gambling addiction, to player protection, to the prevention of money laundering and criminal activities, to
operation reliability and security, to quality assurance, to
internal monitoring and supervision, and to other applicable regulations of this Federal Law.
Legal developments regarding games of chance
within the European Union
On the European level, the European Parliament
adopted the amended Directive on money laundering
on 20 May 2015. In this new – by now already fourth –
edition, all types of gaming operators are included as
opposed to the previous versions, which only covered
casino operators. However, according to the present
results, Member States may, in justified cases, make
exceptions on a national level from enforcing this Directive – which is prescribed for 2017 – for certain operators, especially if the risk of addiction is low, which is
usually the case with terrestrially distributed games of
chance like Lotto and Toto.
13
Management Systems
Austrian Lotteries uses management systems to systematically
implement the company’s objectives and to ensure the quality of individual
processes. A continuous improvement process is used for all relevant operational activities as well as for the management system itself.
A joint framework process based on the ISO standards 9001 and 27001 has been defined for all existing
management systems. This process does not only cover
the common partial processes but also the specific
details of the individual management systems. It forms
the basis to consolidate certification audits for several
management systems, thus reducing the certification
expenditure and effort for the company.
Supported by the Central Process Management
Department, the company’s process managers ensure
the improvement of business procedures to continuously
increase efficiency and the satisfaction of customers
and employees. The improvement of quality within the
processes builds the foundation for certification according to various standards. Thereby, Austrian Lotteries
ensures that its processes are efficient, fast and flexible
and is thus able to promptly respond to expectations and
requirements of customers, of the market and of the
licensor.
In the company’s Code of Conduct, Austrian Lotteries
has defined rules of behaviour together with its employees in order to take measures and actions in an ethically
and legally impeccable context and thus meet the high
moral standards of the company. All of our employees
are aware of their responsibility towards the public,
the customers, all stakeholders and the people they
work with. The Code of Conduct is not only a code of
behaviour for our employees, but also reflects what we
demand and expect from our business partners. The
Code of Conduct is supplemented by a code of behaviour
for our suppliers.
14
Data Protection & Privacy
The individual observance of customers’ and stakeholders’ wishes, including their ideas of privacy and data
protection, represents an essential principle of Austrian
Lotteries’ handling of data. Special data protection
requirements such as the fundamental permissibility of
all data processing, the use of data collections for the
intended purpose only and the requirements regarding
transparency for the affected parties are paid respect to
in their full extent. The data protection officer facilitates
the harmonisation of justified customer demands regarding the protection of their privacy with the operational
requirements of customer-focused marketing. Of course
the principles of data protection and privacy are also
highly relevant for the handling of employee data. They
are treated with the same amount of confidentiality as
our customer data.
Since February 2010, Austrian Lotteries has been
certified according to the GoodPriv@cy Standard. This
proves the secure handling of personal data and the
compliance with the fundamental principles of data protection and privacy as well as contracts and agreements.
The certification also constitutes an important achievement in the continuous improvement of data protection
and information security. These data protection efforts
are now visible to all customers and stakeholders by
means of the GoodPriv@cy data protection seal of quality
with which the organisation has been awarded. Annual
mandatory maintenance audits and the most recent successful recertification according to GoodPriv@cy in July
2015 guarantee continuity in this respect.
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
Fight against money laundering and the financing
of terrorism
Anti-corruption compliance
All actions Austrian Lotteries takes in order to combat
corruption are based on the international IDW PS 980
standard. This standard defines the elements that must
be contained in a compliance system, in order for this
system to be regarded as appropriate. On this basis,
compliance officers and agents may determine where
there is room for action and how to justify these actions.
The requirements of the stricter legal regulations
regarding anti-corruption have been implemented by the
entry into force of an internal guideline, applicable for the
entire Casinos Austria/Austrian Lotteries Group. Three
ÖNORM (national standard issued by the Austrian Standards Institute) certified compliance managers deal with
the compliance with legal regulations and internal rules
to which all employees are bound by contract. Further,
we have appointed an anti-corruption officer.
The design of the compliance management system (CMS) was successfully reviewed in April 2013
by external auditors and confirmed in spring of 2014 in
the context of an effectiveness audit according to the
standards of the independent Institute of Public Auditors
in Germany (IDW). An internal review was conducted in
2015 by our Internal Audit Department.
Austrian Lotteries uses a certified management
system according to the ISAE 3000 standard on money-
laundering and crime prevention and is constantly analysing and assessing money-laundering risks. By means
of a specific set of measures, the actions required by
the Austrian Gaming Act and Banking Act to enforce the
“know your customer” principle are practised verifiably
and systematically. The established security organisation
and the security measures at the central data centre
according to the standards certified by ISO 27001 ensure
compliance with the security regulations regarding the
operation of storage systems.
All articles of the Gaming Act and the Banking Act
respectively that are relevant to our company have been
categorised and are assigned to risk groups in regular intervals. During internal tests, these risk groups
are allocated to a risk and maturity map. All business
processes are documented and thereby made transparent for the management and the anti-money laundering
officer. Our internal control system also makes sure
that legal requirements are evaluated in regular intervals
and included in all operational procedures. In the annual
anti-money laundering analysis, we already considered
the recommendation of the fourth EU Money Laundering
Directive that shall be implemented in Austrian national
legislation in the future.
Based on this approach and the control and measurement criteria according to the international ISAE 3000
standard, the combating of money laundering is perceived as a deliberate management task. An important
detail in this context is the regular update of the company-wide process map and the related guidelines. This
update is carried out at least once a year.
15
Risk and opportunity management
Austrian Lotteries has established a strategic risk and
opportunity management. The permanent overview of
significant strategic company risks and opportunities,
as well as the timely initiation of control measures and
actions support decisions to promote the continuance
and growth of the company.
By means of this standardised approach, new
business opportunities can be seized on a greater scale
and related risks will be controlled more consciously.
Thereby, in addition to meeting the regulatory requirements according to the Austrian Business Law Amendment Act (URÄG 2008), additional value is achieved
regarding the possible development of new opportunities.
A standardised categorisation of risks and opportunities has been stipulated for all areas and domains of the
Group. By being involved in the company-wide process,
all managers are systematically dealing with the risks and
opportunities of the company.
By means of the risk and opportunity management
system (RCM), the risks regarding safety, security and
quality of the products, player protection and the protection of minors, as well as the reliability of gaming
operations are controlled and awareness is created for
the related opportunities for optimising product quality
and customer satisfaction.
Internal control system
An internal control system (ICS) that is regularly
reviewed by Internal Audit ensures the correctness and
efficiency of process flows in terms of asset protection
and compliance with business policies. As a component
of the ICS, the controlling system ensures consistent
planning and reporting and thereby also supports the

Information security
The security structure and the implemented security
measures of Austrian Lotteries are certified according
to the “Security Control Standard” issued by the World
Lottery Association (WLA-SCS) and the information security standard ISO/IEC 27001:2013 by “British Standards
Institution – Management Systems”. These internationally
accepted standards apply to the operational security in the
handling of games. Thereby it is ensured that all business
procedures pertaining to Austrian L
 otteries’ games are
subject to a periodic improvement cycle.
The information security focus in 2015 was put on the
operation and continuous improvement of the information security management system as well as the implementation of the requirements defined in the current
information security standard ISO/IEC 27001:2013. Special value was placed on compliance with the changed
requirements of the management system. In addition to
personally training 41 employees to raise the awareness
for information-security issues, the further development
of operational risk management to optimally handle
possible risks was one of the main tasks of the past year.
A continued review of the knowledge and awareness
in the context of our internal information security audit,
also using electronic questionnaires, has been conducted
with about 320 employees. Compliance with the standards has been confirmed once again in June 2015 in an
external certification audit that reviewed 21 employees
within a period of four days.

Process management
The cooperation within our Group is promoted and
supported by process management. By increasing the
transparency of processes and the related responsibility, “frictional losses” are minimised. Certified process
managers support the process management. The tool
process4.biz updates the Group’s models for organisational structure and process organisation in regular
intervals and makes them available to all employees via
the Intranet. Process optimisations are used as a means
of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of processes. In 2015 we focused on the expansion of managed processes. A process is called a managed process
if the process goals are defined and the actual values are
measured in regular intervals. The measured values are
reviewed on a regular basis. In case of deviations from
the target values, the process manager analyses possible reasons together with the persons involved in the
process. Managed processes are thereby subject to a
continuous improvement process.

PLAY FAIR – THE GROUP’S EXHIBITION
Exciting games, fun, excellent cuisine, perfect service and
absolute security in the operation of games – this is what the Casinos Austria
and Austrian Lotteries Group offers its guests and customers every day.
In late September 2015, we presented the entire range of the Group’s products
and services at our event location Studio 44.
From 23 to 24 September 2015, Studio 44 was transformed into a universe of games of chance. For the first
time, the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group
held an in-house trade-fair to which all employees as well
as their families and friends were invited to get to know
the whole range of products and services offered by the
Group. Furthermore, representatives of all of the Group’s
stakeholders were able to get an idea of the large product
and service portfolio.
18
All business units presented themselves with their
own exhibition stand and provided information on their
services and products. Playfulness was at the centre
of the event. Visitors were able to participate in Lotto,
scratch some scratch-off tickets, try various win2day
games on various devices and place their chips in the
casino at the roulette and black jack tables – including a
short trip “abroad” with the European dealer champion
from Casino Copenhagen. WINWIN showed their video
lottery terminals and at the tipp3 booth, the creation of
betting odds and the new tippBox were presented.
A separate area in the Studio 44 loft was dedicated to
“Gaming with Responsibility” and presented the broad
range of important and cross-divisional topics regarding
Responsible Gaming, CSR, sponsorships, compliance
and human resources. The IT Department and Purchasing
provided an insight into the field of internal services as
well as product development processes. Visitors also had
the opportunity to take a look around our data centre, our
draw room and our security and safety control centre.
Our Play Fair was met with a huge amount of interest. More than 1,000 guests visited the exhibition during
those two days and enjoyed a live experience of the
great enthusiasm with which the Group conducts its
daily business.
NEW GAMES IN 2015
Keeping our games up-to-date and attractive for
our customers is on the main agenda of Austrian Lotteries.
Now, the Europot can be won “systematically” and Lotto offers
a new combination of system quick picks. Anniversaries and
promotions also brought a whole lot of additional
winnings for our customers.
20 years of scratch-off tickets
It has been a success story right from the start: On
27 February 1995 the first scratch-off tickets of Austrian
Lotteries went over the counters of our retail outlets.
More than 100 different scratch-off tickets were designed
in the past 20 years, reflecting the enormous diversity
of game mechanics and designs. The attractiveness and
popularity of scratch-off tickets remains unbroken and
so Austrian Lotteries accordingly celebrated this anniversary together with its scratch fans in February 2015
with the “Geburtstagsgeld” ticket (“Birthday Cash”) that
offered three grand prizes of EUR 100,000. The rest of the
scratch-off ticket year brought exciting games for our customers: “Schatzkammer” (“Treasury”), “Grand Casino”,
the classic “Money Maker”, “Sunny Money”, “Black”, the
Oktoberfest-themed ticket “Wiesn Gaudi”, “Kino Cash”
(“Cinema Cash”), “Adventkalender” (“Advent Calendar”),
“Frohe Weihnachten” (“Merry Christmas”) and at the end
of the year ”Viel Glück” (“Good Luck”).
The 2nd chance on www.lotterien.at
With the Christmas scratch-off ticket “Frohe
Weihn achten”, Austrian Lotteries offered a second
chance of winning for the first time via its website
w ww.lotterien at. The ticket included two scratch
games. Three times the same amount of money meant
that one has won this amount (once). In addition to
the classic scratch action, the Christmas ticket also
offered a completely new feature: the 2nd chance. All
tickets that did not win were eligible for registration at
www.lotterien at during the defined promotion period to
participate in the mentioned second chance of winning.
During a period of eight weeks, 2 x EUR 500 in cash and
20 x EUR 15 in gift credits for win2day were raffled off.
22
EuroMillions and the EuroVision Song Contest
In 2015, they were among the most popular and high
in demand tickets of the year: Tickets to the EuroVision
Song Contest in Vienna in May. 50 of those tickets for
the semi-finals and the final show were reserved for
EuroMillions customers.
Winning the Europot “systematically”
“Five plus two” numbers are drawn for EuroMillions;
however, why not choose “six plus three” or “seven
plus five” and thereby increase your chances of winning?
Austrian Lotteries has been offering this option since
4 May 2015 with the EuroMillions “Systemschein” (“system ticket”). The system ticket is an easy and comfortable
way to participate in each draw with several picks, thereby
increasing one’s chances of winning. The EuroMillions
system ticket offers 33 different systems. Depending
on the system selected, one picks between five and
ten numbers and between two and eleven stars. These
systems are so-called “full-systems”, which means that
all possible “5 plus 2” combinations are formed based on
the numbers and stars picked. Customers may choose
between either hand-picking their numbers themselves or
letting the computer choose via quick pick. And of course,
all systems can also be submitted as “TeamTipps” (option
of playing one ticket with up to ten members in a team).
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
The quick system pick for Lotto
Going for the Lotto jackpot systematically has become
even easier since 4 May 2015: the Lotto System Quicktipp (system quick pick) combines the advantages of the
system ticket and the quick pick. All 48 Lotto full-systems
that are displayed on the play slip and the system plan can
also be played as Lotto System Quicktipp. In this case, the
random generator defines the bank numbers as well as
the variable numbers.
Customised combination: The Lotto and
EuroMillions System Champion
For lottery players who like to put together their own
picks and individual playing systems, Austrian Lotteries
has launched a programme free of charge in July 2015.
The Lotto and EuroMillions System Champion allows our
customers to try their luck with a customised system. The
System Champion – already popular among Toto players
– provides a totally individual and customised system by
reducing the number of selected picks by means of various guarantee cuts and setting all kinds of different filters.
This system is ideal for all those who do not – e.g. in Lotto
– only have six but ten or more favourite (lucky) numbers
and do not wish to play a full-system (i.e. all possible
combinations of those numbers). The System Champion is
available for free on win2day, where one can also directly
submit one’s picks. Additionally, it is also possible to store
the data on a USB device and play those picks in the retail
outlet of one’s choice.
the inside (winning field) of the Super Brieflos, one gets
another Super Brieflos for free at any retail outlet. In 2015,
Brieflos celebrated its 35 year anniversary and launched
an anniversary edition with 1 x EUR 100,000 as additional
prize money. But this was not the only anniversary: The
Brieflos TV Show celebrated its 25th Birthday with an
anniversary show on Sunday, 14 June 2015. Additional
Brieflos themes in 2015 were “Geldtopf” (“cash pot”) and
“Geldpolster” (“cash pillow”).
Bingo celebrity special with EUR 25,000
for “Licht ins Dunkel”
It was for the second time already that celebrities
participated in the Bingo TV Show for the good cause.
On Saturday, 21 November 2015, the special show was
broadcast with Wolfgang Böck (actor), Vera Russwurm
(TV host), Eva Marold (comedienne), Markus Mitterhuber
(actor & cabaret artist) and Tini Kainrath (singer), who
did not only play for the entertainment of the audience
but also for the benefit of the charity initiative “Licht ins
Dunkel” (“Light up the Darkness”). The candidates scored
EUR 1,000 for every correct answer so that in the end,
they had earned EUR 19,000 for “Licht ins Dunkel”. Board
member Bettina Glatz-Kremsner topped off the amount on
behalf of Austrian Lotteries so that a total of EUR 25,000
was made available to the charity. In this context, she also
stressed the importance of the quick and unbureaucratic
help provided by “Licht ins Dunkel”.
Brieflos, Super Brieflos, Mega Brieflos –
the new product family
Diverse but at the same time well-arranged – this is
the new Brieflos (break-open tickets) product range that
was redesigned in October 2015. With Brieflos, Super
Brieflos and Mega Brieflos, three categories with different
names, ticket prices and grand prize winnings have been
created. The classic Brieflos is available for the price of
EUR 1; the grand prize to be won is EUR 100,000. The
new Super Brieflos is priced at EUR 2 with a grand prize of
EUR 300,000. The third Brieflos in the family is the Mega
Brieflos. It is available at our retail outlets at a price of
EUR 3 and offers a grand prize of EUR 500,000. What is
new is that all categories of Brieflos offer the second-level
win – i.e. the chance to participate in the Brieflos TV
Show. Furthermore, the free ticket was introduced for
Super Brieflos. If one finds “FREILOS-EUR-2” printed on

49 MILLIONAIRES AND A LOTTO RECORD WIN
Austrian Lotteries’ 2015 record of winners is
an impressive read: In total, 237 people were lucky enough
to win EUR 100,000 or more. This makes an average of four and
a half top-cash prize winners every week. 49 of them
even won prizes of one million or more.
Winnings in the two-digit millions for a player
in Carinthia and one in Lower Austria
Record win with 9.6 million Euro in Vienna
The dream of every Lotto fan – winning the jackpot
solo – came true for a 50-something player from Vienna
on 12 August last year. He was the only one with the
“six correct numbers” – in a quintuple jackpot round
at that – with a quick pick. This earned him a prize of
EUR 9,643,151.70 – the largest prize ever won in the history of Lotto “6 out of 45”. The winner is a father of four
and has his own family-run company. He had checked his
ticket the day after the draw on win2day, where he at first
only saw two smaller winnings (bonus number alone). It
was only later that he saw the actual life-changing jackpot
win. He intends to use the money for further investing in
and expanding his company.
Second quintuple jackpot in the two-digit millions;
5 one of the most popular numbers
Before that there had already been a quintuple jackpot in April where the winning sum for the six correct
numbers went over EUR 10 million for the second time in
Lotto history. Three players from Vienna scored right and
won more than EUR 3.3 million each.
The player from Carinthia just under 30 will probably
never forget the day of 25 August 2015: She was the only
one who had picked the “5 plus 2” correct numbers and
thereby won the Europot filled with EUR 30,507,122.00.
This is the fifth-highest win in Austria and was achieved
with a quick pick. She had decided to play spontaneously
and checked her ticket on the next day at win2day. She
may now (not only) fulfil her dream of buying her own
house.
On 13 October it was a player from Lower Austria,
who – together with a player from England – won the
Europot with the right “5 plus 2” numbers, which earned
him a prize money of EUR 15,439,214.00. He had only
played one single pick!
Record win in Toto
Since September 2013, Toto has been all about the
“thirteen”. On 24 May last year, a player from Vienna won
the highest amount ever for the thirteen correct bets.
With a system ticket he won the octuple jackpot solo and
won EUR 438,235.30.
237 top cash prizes
The most popular Lotto number in 2015 was 5 by the
way – it was drawn a total of 24 times; the least frequently
drawn number was 41, it only appeared eight times
throughout the year.
24
The 237 top cash prizes won in 2015 are distributed
among the individual games as follows: 78 times in Lotto
(thereof 65 times all six numbers correct, thereof 44 times
in the millions), 23 times in Class Lottery (thereof two in
the millions), 70 times in Joker, 15 times in Brieflos, nine
times in Toto and Torwette (correct-score bet), nine times
in ToiToiToi, four times in Bingo and three times in scratchoff tickets. In 2015, the total of winnings amounted to
EUR 2,336.41 million (calculation based on all games of
Austrian Lotteries).

GAME PORTFOLIO
Austrian Lotteries offers its customers
in Austria a gaming portfolio ranging from classic
lottery games to instant lotteries.
Lotto “6 aus 45” (“6 out of 45”)
Lotto “6 out of 45” is the Austrians’ favourite lottery
game. The “6 out of 45” formula is customised to the
gaming behaviour of the Austrians and the population
size of the country, which leads to a small number of top
prizes, attractive medium-tier prizes, and many small cash
prizes. The Lotto draws are conducted on Wednesday and
Sunday evening.
Toto and Torwette
(football pools and correct score bet)
On 7 September 1986, the first draw of Lotto
“6 out of 45” was carried out in Austria. Thus, the
success story of Austrian Lotteries began. As early as
in the next few years, the company was entrusted with
conducting the games Toto, Brieflos, Zahlenlotto 1-90
and Klassenlotterie by the Österreichische Glücksspielmonopolverwaltung (Austrian Gaming Monopoly Administration). These games were further developed and
adjusted to market conditions. By introducing the add-on
games Joker and Torwette, the first product innovations
were launched. With the Rubbellos, another instant lottery was launched in February 1995; in 1998 the Internet
gaming portfolio went online. Bingo followed in 1999,
and with win2day, the new online gaming platform was
launched on 19 February 2003. ToiToiToi was introduced
on 3 March 2003. The first WINWIN location with Video
Lottery Terminals opened its doors in May 2004. Since
2 October 2004, Austrian players have had the possibility
to participate in EuroMillions, the European lottery. In
autumn 2013, the new Toto was introduced at the retail
outlets.
1, 2 or X? A certain amount of football know-how can
be quite an advantage in Toto and for the correct score
bet, since expertise and experience may enlarge the
player’s chance of winning. Both games are based on the
correct projection of football match results.
The result of every match must be predicted in the
form 1,2,X:
-
-
-
Bet 1 stands for victory of the home team.
Bet 2 stands for victory of the visiting team.
Bet X stands for a tied match.
The correct score bet can only be played in combination with at least one Toto bet. For the correct score bet,
the player has to place a bet on the exact results of the
first five Toto matches. The hat-trick presents an additional
possibility to win. The hat-trick is won if the player has
placed thirteen correct bets in Toto and five correct results
in the correct score bet on one ticket.
25
EuroMillionen (EuroMillions)
What numbers are written in the stars is determined
every Tuesday and every Friday at the EuroMillions draw.
The five correct numbers in the numbers field and the two
correct numbers in the lucky stars circle – that is what it
takes to win the Europot.
Nine countries, one European lottery, and unparalleled winning amounts – that is the short-version formula
of EuroMillions. The key to the success of a game is its
attractiveness. In the case of EuroMillions this attractiveness can be mostly followed back to the high winnings
available, but also to the high number of winning possibilities. It is for that reason exactly that the EuroMillions
countries France, the UK, Spain, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland, and Austria right from
the beginning aimed to keep the game attractive and to
continuously enhance the conditions for the participants.
Bingo
During the Bingo TV show, the tension rises with each
number announced, since there is no jackpot for Bingo
– numbers continue to be drawn until finally there is a
winner.
Bingo is a game that combines the pari-mutuel game
principle with fixed-odds elements. A pari-mutuel game
means that the amount of the individual winning sum
depends on the number of picks played and the number
of winners in the individual prize tiers. Bingo’s fixed-odds
games are “Card” with a fixed winning sum of EUR 1.50
and the Bingo Multi Bonus. For Bingo, numbers are drawn
from a numerical series reaching from 1 to 75.
The goal is to achieve the grand prize: “Bingo”. As
opposed to draw-based games, winnings in a higher prize
tier do not preclude winnings in a lower tier.
26
Zahlenlotto 1-90 (Digit Lotto 1-90)
Authorised by decree of Empress Maria Theresa more
than 260 years ago, Zahlenlotto is the oldest licensed
game of chance in Austria.
One, two, three, four, or five numbers from 1 to 90
can be selected by marking them. Five numbers are
drawn out of a series from 1 to 90. There are seven different versions of the game – Extrakt, Ruf, Ambo, Terno,
Ambo-Terno 3, Ambo-Terno 4 and Ambo-Terno 5 – which
yield different prize amounts. The player may choose
from a range of defined stakes starting from EUR 1
up to EUR 500. The highest possible prize amounts to
5,000 times the stake.
Joker
Joker was initially introduced in 1988 as an add-ongame for Lotto and Toto. Over the years, more games
were added so that today, players can mark their “Yes”
to Joker also on Zahlenlotto, Bingo and EuroMillions play
slips.
Joker is a pari-mutuel game (1st prize tier) combined
with fixed odds (2nd through 6 th prize tier). If the Joker
number on the ticket (read from right to left) is identical to
the Joker number drawn, the grand prize – the Joker – is
won.

Klassenlotterie
(Austrian Class Lottery)
In January 1913 introduced by Emperor Franz Joseph I
of Austria via Imperial Law Gazette, this game still stands
for wealth and the fulfilment of long held dreams. In 1990,
Austrian Lotteries took over the administration and
execution of the Class Lottery game from the former
gaming monopoly administration and has since modified
and improved the game several times in order to keep it
attractive. However, in all changes it was paramount to
maintain the original character of the game.
The Austrian Class Lottery is a number lottery that is
conducted over six game phases, the so-called “classes”,
for a period of approximately six months. 250,000 tickets
per lottery are issued, from which all in all 248,196 winnings with a total value of EUR 126 million are drawn.
Additionally in 2015, the gold class was offered as an
add-on class in which 20 times gold in the value of
EUR 100,000, 90 times gold in the value of EUR 50,000
and 4,000 times gold in the value of EUR 1,500 were raffled off, as well as the super class that offered the chance
of winning EUR 100,000 every day.
In 2015, the 3rd to 6 th class of the 179 th lottery, the
180 th lottery, and the 1st and 2nd class of the 181st lottery
were played. Tickets for the Austrian Class Lottery are
sold by six partners, which for their part have a distribution network of 291 retail outlets.
ToiToiToi
Every day a lucky day! With ToiToiToi this might
just come true, since the right lucky symbol in combination with the five correctly picked digits yields up to
EUR 200,000.
The six-digit ticket number consists of two parts:
a five-digit combination of numbers and one of seven
possible lucky symbols. The lucky symbols are: ladybug,
chimney sweep, four-leafed clover, moneybag, lucky
mushroom, lucky horseshoe, and lucky pig.
ToiToiToi is a fixed-odds lottery game. The prize
amount depends on the stake amount, as well as on how
many digits of the played combination of numbers correspond to the digits of the winning number drawn.
Rubbellos (scratch-off tickets)
Scratch-off tickets belong to the category of instant
lotteries. After having scratched-off the layer of the
winning field, you can see immediately whether and how
much you have won.
Right from the start in 1995, Austrian Lotteries
pursued a multi-game strategy for its scratch-off tickets.
This means that many different scratch-off tickets – permanent and limited-duration games, as well as games
with a seasonal focus – are offered on the market at the
same time. The payout rate for scratch-off tickets may be
designed flexibly; it must range between 55 and 67.5 per
cent of the ticket price. The average annual payout rate is
at 60 per cent.
27
Brieflos (break-open tickets)
Breaking open the “Brieflos” is the ultimate thrill.
After all, it is up to the individual player, how fast he/she
unfolds the ticket. Brieflos is an instant lottery, in which
immediately after breaking open the ticket the players
know whether and how much they have won. With the
break-open tickets, Austrian Lotteries has the possibility
to allocate additional prize money or non-cash prizes to all
or to individual prize tiers.
The classic Brieflos is available for the price of EUR 1;
the grand prize to be won is EUR 100,000. The Super
Brieflos is priced at EUR 2, offering a grand prize of
EUR 300,000. The third Brieflos in the family is the Mega
Brieflos. It is available at our retail outlets at a price of
EUR 3 and offers a grand prize of EUR 500,000.
With the Super Brieflos, customers also have the
chance to win free tickets worth EUR 2. If one finds
“FREILOS-EUR-2” printed on the inside (winning field)
of the Super Brieflos, one gets another Super Brieflos for
free at any retail outlet.
All break-open tickets also offer the chance to participate in the Brieflos Show on TV.
The Brieflos TV-Show
The second winning level for Brieflos is the Brieflos
TV Show. In order to be able to participate in the Brieflos
TV Show, the words “Die Brieflos Show” must be displayed in the winning field. If this part of the ticket – filled
with name and address of the player – is handed in and
subsequently drawn out of all participating tickets during
the Brieflos TV Show, then the player will be invited to
participate in the next Brieflos TV Show.

win2day - Online Gaming
Be it via classic desktop or laptop computer,
tablet PCs, or a Smartphone – win2day is the first choice
for games of chance on the Internet. The gaming
website covers the range of Austrian Lotteries’ classic
lottery games, sports betting and electronic lotteries
in the form of casino games, the Poker Room,
the Bingo Room and the Games Room.
Via a subsidiary, Austrian Lotteries and Casinos Austria
jointly operate the gaming website win2day. The win2day
Entwicklungs- und Betriebsgesellschaft m.b.H. is a subsidiary of the Entertainment Glücks- und Unterhaltungs
spiel Gesellschaft m.b.H., in which Austrian Lotteries and
Casinos Austria each hold 50 per cent of the shares. Its
business object is the development and the operation of
electronic lotteries offered on win2day. w
in2day Entwicklungs- und Betriebsgesellschaft m.b.H. holds 90 per cent
of the shares of the Viennese game manufacturer “Rabcat
Computer Graphics GmbH”.
Game launches in 2015
In 2015, the casino game range on win2day was
expanded by the slot games “Almgaudi”, “Classic 243”,
“Falco”, and “Space Adventure”, as well as the video
poker games “Draw Poker 2” and “Flush Power Poker”
plus the roulette version American Roulette. The mobile
version now also offers the games “Almgaudi”, “American
Roulette”, “Classic 243”, “Falco”, “Grand Black Jack”,
“Lucky Joker” and “Space Adventure”. The games can be
played on mobile devices with the two leading operating
systems iOs and Android directly via win2day.
The electronic lotteries
The electronic lotteries on win2day are games that are
available on a multi-channel gaming platform with an integrated virtual wallet function for participation in games of
chance via the Internet. According to Art. 12a of the Austrian Gaming Act (GSpG), electronic lotteries are games of
chance, for which the gaming contract is made via electronic media. The decision on winning or losing is induced
by the central system. Pursuant to Art. 12a of GSpG, the
licence for “electronic lotteries” is held by Österreichische
Lotterien Ges.m.b.H. (Austrian Lotteries).
The range of games available in the Poker Room, the
Bingo Room, and the Games Room, as well as the casino
games are defined as electronic lotteries. Keno is conducted in accordance with Art. 12b of the Gaming Act,
however, it is only offered via the Internet on win2day.
From the very beginning, Austrian Lotteries and
Casinos Austria have also assigned a high priority to the
protection of minors and to the protection against excessive gambling on win2day. Detailed information regarding
the Responsible Gaming measures employed on win2day
can be found on page 38 of this report.
With the slot game “Falco”, win2day has launched its
first so-called branded game. In the game, Austria pop
icon Falco not only lends his name but only also his music.
During the free-spin mode, one can listen to the world
hit “Rock me Amadeus”. Especially in the field of gaining
new customers, branded games enjoy a great deal of
popularity all over the world.
Since 2015, the range of games has also been
expanded by the offer of live roulette. It is played as
American Roulette with a Zero. Bets are made at the
virtual table while being able to watch the real wheel and
following the ball’s movement live. Via web cams and
video streaming, a proper-style casino feeling experience
is provided. Users may bet on all classic roulette chances,
neighbours and finals. The dealers operate the game and
the players have the possibility to engage in a live chat
with them. Live roulette is also available via smartphone
or tablet.
29
The Poker Room on win2day
The all-Austrian Poker Room on win2day offers players
to try their luck at the virtual poker table with popular
games like “Texas Hold’em” and “Omaha”. There are
only Austrian tables available. This means that the only
opponents are other participants from Austria. Games are
played with 52 cards (= one deck) which are provided by
the central system. The cards are also shuffled and dealt
randomly by a central software programme. 2015 was
filled with numerous tournaments and promotions: Especially worth of mentioning in this context are the “Sit &
Go Mountain Rally” and a VW Golf
tournament. Additionally, win2day
paid out extra prizes around the
event of the 500-millionth poker
hand played.
The Bingo Room on win2day
At the Bingo Room, draws are conducted in minute
intervals. To participate, players may purchase a certain
amount of tickets. The user may also choose from two
Bingo options with either 75 or 90 numbers. In August
2015, win2day completely redesigned its Bingo Room.
Since then, the Bingo Room has been presenting itself
in a new design and with a large number of new game
concepts. On various occasions like Easter, spring, the
beginning of autumn, or Christmas, numerous special
events like guaranteed games, free Bingo, pattern Bingo,
and pleasurable chat games were offered in the Bingo
Room.
Sports betting on win2day
In cooperation with tipp3, win2day offers
sports betting on the platform as well. Three
types of bets are available: The classic sports
bet addresses sports enthusiasts who like to
devote themselves to future sporting events.
As opposed to this, live betting is possible for
events that are already in progress. Additionally, win2day
offers a quick pick with 25 per cent odds bonus. In 2015,
win2day also launched its sports betting offer for the
mobile version on tablets and smartphones. Additionally, win2day expanded its live betting offer by attractive
sports like basketball, volleyball and handball.

Sports betting, like all other games on win2day, is
handled via the already existing win2day deposit account
and thus includes the full player protection programme of
win2day.

questions regarding win2day’s games and collects the
opinions of users, which are then considered and integrated in product development. Moreover, game news
is posted on the site and users can participate in various
raffles.
win2day’s advertising line
Since September 2014, win2day has been presenting
itself with new commercials on TV and the Internet. The
communicational concept of the ads focusses on the
core message “playing on win2day: experience laid-back
excitement”. While the first spot with Empress Sissi
revived the nostalgic flair of old Austria with the modern
experience of gaming, in 2015 it was Falco who enjoyed
a “little diversion” on win2day. This commercial as well
delivers the message “All-Austrian” – an essential cornerstone of win2day’s brand identity. New TV and Internet
ads in 2016 will continue this advertising line.

WINWIN - Video Lottery Terminals
ith the slogan “Café, Bar & Gaming” WINWIN
offers games and entertainment at the highest level at
several locations in Austria. 2015 was marked by the introduction
of a new, mandatory player card and the opening of new outlets in
Linz, in Schwaz (Tyrol) and in Wiener Neustadt.
WINWIN outlets are venues for entertainment-
oriented people who love to go out and enjoy high-level
entertainment. All WINWIN locations offer their guests,
aged over 18, the possibility of playing at Video Lottery
Terminals (VLTs) of the newest generation, combined
with a classy ambience, moderately priced food and
b everages, well-trained employees and regular events
with live music and entertainment programmes. The
detailed Responsible Gaming measures in place can be
found on page 38 of this report.
The Glücks- und Unterhaltungsspiel Betriebsgesell
schaft m.b.H. is a subsidiary of the Entertainment Glücksund Unterhaltungsspiel Gesellschaft m.b.H., of which
Austrian Lotteries and Casinos Austria each hold 50 per
cent of the shares. Its business object is the operation of
VLTs, which are offered in Austria under the brand name
WINWIN. Pursuant to Art. 12a GSpG, the licence for VLTs
is held by Österreichische Lotterien Gesellschaft m.b.H.
(Austrian Lotteries). Austrian Lotteries primarily provides
its power of innovation in the fields of media and technology. Casinos Austria is responsible for the planning of the
operational segment and contributes its expertise in the
gaming and culinary area to WINWIN.
Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs)
VLTs optically resemble classic gaming machines
of casinos, but are different in their game mechanics.
While every gaming machine by means of a random
generator individually decides whether the player wins
or loses, for VLTs this decision is made by the random
generator of a computer within the central system
– based on pre-defined prize pyramids. The central
computer then transmits the results to the individual
terminals via telecommunication equipment. Games at
the VLTs are electronic lotteries. According to Art. 12a
GSpG, electronic lotteries are games of chance, for
which the gaming contract is made via electronic media.
At every location, there are between 15 and 50 terminals
that offer up to 35 different games. With a stake of only
10 cent, a player can already participate in a game. The
maximum stake is EUR 10. Stakes are paid via tickets
or banknotes, however, without coins. The first prize
amounts to EUR 10,000.
The WINWIN outlets positively supplement the existing local and regional leisure time and tourism offers.
With each location, WINWIN creates skilled and qualified
employment and offers a responsible and respectable
alternative to the so-called “Kleine Glücksspiel” (an
Austrian concept in which small-scale gambling (e.g. slot
machines) is regulated by the respective Provincial government), casinos across the border, and illegal gambling.
Introduction of the player card and connection
to the Bundesrechenzentrum
(Austrian Federal Computing Centre)
2015 was a year of changes for WINWIN (VLTs).
Since 1 January 2015, new regulatory framework conditions have been in effect for WINWIN (see amendment
of the Austrian Gaming Act GSpG of 18 August 2010). On
the one hand, the number of VLTs per outlet had to be
reduced to a maximum of 50 and on the other hand, each
VLT required a connection to the Bundesrechenzentrum.
Moreover, at the beginning of last year, the mandatory
INWIN Card, was introduced, which led
play card, the W
to a certain restraint among many guests. At the turn of
the year 2014/2015 the changes and the new technological requirements were professionally and smoothly
implemented by WINWIN.
31
Opening of three new outlets
Small but classy – since 22 January 2015, the smallest
WINWIN outlet to date with only 75 m2 opened its doors in
Linz Urfahr. With 15 VLTs and a reduced offer in food and
drinks, guests aged 18 and over can play at the VLTs, but
also play Lotto or submit a tipp3 bet. Schwaz in Tyrol now
also has a WINWIN outlet that opened on 13 May 2015. It
consists of 30 VLTs and a large food and drinks area with a
patio. In Wiener Neustadt, WINWIN opened its 15th outlet
on 21 August 2015.

tipp3 - Sportwetten (sports betting)
For tipp3, the successful qualification of the Austrian National
Team for the UEFA Euro 2016 in France was at the centre of communication in 2015. With the development and the roll-out of the tippBox
at the retail outlets, the implementation of the mobile version
for the partner company win2day and the expansion of the live-betting
offer for tipp3.at, tipp3 brought its betting offer even closer
to the customers.
Participation in sports betting under the label “tipp3” – in
the retail outlet, as well as via the Internet – is only possible
for customers aged 18 and over.

Österreichische Sportwetten Gesellschaft m.b.H.
(Austrian Sports Betting Company), in short ÖSW, was
formed in April 2000 and started its gaming operations on
24 August 2001. It is a subsidiary of Entertainment Glücksund Unterhaltungsspiel Gesellschaft m.b.H. (56 per cent),
Mediaprint Zeitungs- und Zeitschriftenverlag GmbH & Co.
KG (newspaper and magazine publisher) (26 per cent),
and Bundesländerverlage Beteiligungsgesellschaft m.b.H
(investment company of the Austrian Provincial publishers) (18 per cent). Casinos Austria AG and Österreichische
Lotterien Gesellschaft m.b.H. (Austrian Lotteries) each
hold 50 per cent of the shares in Entertainment Glücks-und
Unterhaltungsspiel Gesellschaft m.b.H.
In the printed media of the shareholders, the reader
gains easy access to current information about betting
events and developments. For the daily newspapers,
this service poses a means of strengthening the readers’
loyalty. In Austria, up to ten cumulative sports bets based
on odds are not subject to the gaming monopoly. Licences
for this kind of sports betting are awarded on the basis of
the regulations stipulated in the respective Provincial Law.
These licences have been awarded to Österreichische
Sportwetten Gesellschaft m.b.H. by all nine Provinces.
The strongest-selling event in the betting offer tipp3
in the past year was the qualification phase for the UEFA
Euro 2016 in France. The strong interest in the games of
the Austrian National Football Team and a well-balanced
mix of victories for favourites and surprises allowed for a
satisfactory development of the qualification for both new
customers and bookmakers. The major football event in
2016 will attract enormous interest for the matches of the
Austrian National Team. However, this also poses quite a
challenge for all departments of tipp3, who already began
their planning for this event in 2015. It was also one of the
reasons to extend and expand the sponsorship agreement
with the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) as well as the
advertising cooperation with the successful head coach
Marcel Koller.
Introduction of the mobile version for win2day
Taking into account the increasing tendency towards
more mobility and flexibility among customers, tipp3 implemented a mobile version of its betting offer for its partner
win2day prior to the qualification phase of the UEFA Euro
2016. This version scores points with its clear and well-
arranged appearance and its good usability.
33
Placing tipp3 bets digitally with the tippBox
With the digital tippBox, tipp3 has been offering a new
generation of betting at the retail outlets since 2015. The
tippBox is a touch screen monitor that allows for easy handling by the customers and secure and reliable accounting
for the retail outlets. After selecting the bet and the stake
on the screen, a ticket is printed. This ticket is then scanned
by the employee at the outlet and, after payment, the ticket
is issued to the customer as usually. About 300 boxes
were installed all over Austria (except for Vorarlberg). The
high number of users confirms the success of the product
expansion. Thanks to the new devices, retail outlets and
their customers are able to save a lot of time. At the same
time, both groups still benefit from the high quality and
security regarding the settlement of accounts by tipp3.
Germany – tipp3.de & German sports betting
licence
With tipp3.de, the Deutsche Sportwetten GmbH
(DSW, German Sports Betting Company) launched a website for customers in Germany and Austria on 22 April 2015
that offers online betting for internal sports events. The
offer focuses on pro sports without exception, in particular football events. Betting on amateur sports is not
available. DSW bases its offer on a joint venture between
Deutsche Telekom and Österreichische Sportwetten
Gesellschaft m.b.H.
34
The competitive tendering procedure regarding the
German bookmaker licence has still not been completed in
2015. An emergency appeal by the unsuccessful competitors regarding the injunction of the award of the 20 sports
betting licences was sustained. The licensing procedure
was deemed untransparent and the gambling council
installed for the assessment of licensing criteria was evaluated as non-constitutional. A decision in the principal proceedings is still outstanding; however, it is to be expected
that the State Treaty on Gaming and the related sports
betting licence procedure will have to be reviewed and
repeated. Therefore, the licence award cannot be expected
in 2016.
Better Game Solutions (BGS)
BGS is the sports betting solution provider within the
Casinos Austria/Austrian Lotteries Group. At the same time,
BGS represents the brand with which ÖSW addresses institutional customers.
BGS offers modern, fail-safe systems as well as
comprehensive consultation services regarding concepts,
marketing and operation of games and betting to gaming
and betting providers as well as other enterprises that plan
to enter the sports betting market.

Albanisch Österreichische Lotterien
Holding Gesellschaft m.b.H.
The Albanisch Österreichische Lotterien Holding
Gesellschaft m.b.H (Albanian-Austrian Lotteries Holding Company) was formed in September 2012 and is a
100% subsidiary of Österreichische Lotterien Holding
Gesellschaft m.b.H. (Austrian Lotteries). It holds 100 per
cent of Lotaria Kombëtare Sh.p.k. which has its registered
office in Tirana and is in charge of the gaming operations
in Albania.
After a competitive tendering procedure in September 2012, Austria Lotteries was notified that it was
being granted the licence for establishing, operating and
managing the Albanian National Lottery. A comprehensive product and marketing concept for the gradual and
responsible development of the Albanian lottery market
was implemented.
Lotaria Kombëtare has been offering Loto “6 nga 39”
(Lotto “6 out of 39”) since April 2013 and scratch-off
tickets since September 2013. In the past business
year, the focus was put on strengthening the brands and
developing new games in the instant segment. With
the introduction of the scratch-off ticket “Tornado me
Para” that offers the participation in a win cash TV Show
– based on the Money Maker concept in Austria – as a
prize, Lotaria Kombëtare achieved a high level of interest
among its customers. Additionally, the scratch-off tickets
“Zemra me Fat” and “Fito Kuq e Zi” were launched.
With the new product “Keno & Galaxy”, a game with
draws in five-minute intervals was launched in March
2015.
Russisch Österreichische Lotterien
Holding Gesellschaft m.b.H.
Österreichische Lotterien Gesellschaft m.b.H.
( Austrian Lotteries), VPB Beteiligungs Gesellschaft
m.b.H., and KEBA AG are the shareholders of Russisch
Österreichische Lotterien Holding Gesellschaft m.b.H
(Russian Austrian Lotteries Holding). The company owns
100 per cent of OOO Ural Loto, which was responsible for
the gaming operations in Bashkortostan. After six years
of successful work, a federal law on lotteries, which was
adopted on extremely short notice in late December 2013,
forced Ural Loto to prematurely discontinue the draws for
Lotto “6 out of 40 + Joker” and the sale of scratch-off
and break-open tickets as of 30 June 2014, despite having
obtained a valid licence until 2018. Since the autumn of
2014, the operating company Ural Loto is being liquidated
in due consideration of all deadlines and duties as prescribed by Russian law. This procedure should be completed by July 2016 at the latest, so that in the following
the team in Vienna will be able to liquidate the parent
company – Russisch Österreichische Lotterien Holding
Gesellschaft m.b.H – by autumn 2016.
In line with the legislation of Albania, the lottery’s
dedicated taxes are used annually for the funding of
socially significant projects and measures as well as for
charity activities. For this purpose, organisations were
invited to submit their various projects. In 2015, the
Down Syndrome Foundation Albania was supported and
the Bulqiza Hospital received funding for the purchase
of medical devices in the emergency and cardiology
departments.

RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible Gaming
ith the renewed full certification according to the Responsible Gaming
Standards of European Lotteries, Austrian Lotteries proves that
“Gaming with Responsibility“ is guaranteed. Many actions and measures,
ranging from the transfer of knowledge to the review procedures,
form the basis for our consistent Responsible Gaming
strategy and player protection.
Scratching open scratch-off tickets or ticking your
favourite lucky numbers on a play slip – be it at the retail
outlet or online at win2day – is supposed to be fun and
entertaining, just like a visit to a WINWIN outlet. And this
is the case for the majority of the population. However,
there are some persons who need special protection.
Either because they are part of the so-called vulnerable or
at-risk groups, or because they display a kind of gaming
behaviour that stands out.
Austrian Lotteries’ player protection measures start at
an even earlier point. We have implemented programmes
that counteract possible future problems that might occur
due to (excessive) gaming. Already at the time of development of new games, player protection-relevant aspects are
considered in the game design and all advertising activities
are subjected to a responsible advertising check following
strict regulations. Customers are kept informed about the
odds of winning and the risks of playing. Around Christmas,
Austrian Lotteries starts a campaign each year that carries
the slogan “Games of chance are not a child’s play – keep it
in mind, give responsibly” and raises awareness for the fact
that gaming products are only intended for adults. The website www.spiele-mit-verantwortung.at offers recommendations for playing responsibly, an anonymous self-test and
links to various counselling institutions in Austria. The free
Responsible Gaming line 0800 202 304 offers information
and advice as well as solutions in terms of player protection
to those in need.
A significant cornerstone and key to success in
Responsible Gaming are our employees and retail
38
partners. Mandatory training as well as special events in
the context of continued education and themed workshops for managers and people that are in close contact
with customers, are a given.
Certification according to the Responsible Gaming
standards of the European Lotteries and Toto Association
(EL) is another step in achieving excellent player protection. In 2015, Austrian Lotteries was comprehensively
audited by BDO Auxilia Treuhand GmbH in the context
of full certification. The basis used by the assessors
was the framework of European Lotteries, which among
others includes the fields of employee training, game
design, advertising & marketing as well as the collaboration with our stakeholders. On 15 December 2015
the renewed full certification of Austrian Lotteries was
confirmed.
Austrian Lotteries is also very committed to the
protection of minors. Children and adolescents have
never been and will never be the target group for our
games. For seven years now, the voluntary self-restriction of Austrian Lotteries has been in effect. Consequently, lottery products may only be sold to persons
aged 16 years and over. The retail partners co-carry this
self-restriction; compliance is monitored via mystery
shoppings, repeated violations can lead up to the termination of the partner contract. Therefore, we focus on
transferring knowledge, clear requirements and mandatory training courses. Prior to every new opening of a
retail outlet, the partners have to complete the Responsible Gaming basic training. Moreover, all employees at the
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
retail outlets are provided with online training courses
that have to be completed at the online terminal. Additionally, the sales representatives of Austrian Lotteries
visit the outlets to personally inform the staff there about
preventative measures. The new edition of the Responsible Gaming ABC and a special customer brochure as
well as the regular stories and reports in the retail outlet
magazine “Lotterien aktuell” completed the transfer of
knowledge for 2015.
For win2day, WINWIN, and tipp3, the minimum age
for playing is 18 years. At win2day, as well as at WINWIN
and tipp3.at, we employ special Responsible Gaming features, which provide additional support to our customers
regarding their management of time and money and help
to limit the maximum playing time.
MENTOR has been installed on win2day since 2013,
allowing the users to keep an eye on their personal online
gaming behaviour. Further, Austrian Lotteries once again
obtained the certificate for social responsibility 2015/16 by
GamCare, London, UK (gamcare.org.uk) for player protection on win2day. This institution conducts annual certifications for player protection and social responsibility. With
this certificate, GamCare once more confirms the consequent implementation of the “GamCare Player Protection
Code of Practice for Remote Gambling” throughout the
range of games available on win2day.
trainers headed by the former university professor
Herwig Scholz. The “Innovative Responsible Gaming”
programme in 2015 offered knowledge about gambling
addiction, diagnosis, prevention and basic information
about the corresponding therapy. Judicial, legislative,
social and psychological aspects were also part of the
programme. As of 31 December 2015, WINWIN has
45 specially trained employees.
tipp3 focused on the training of new tipp3 promoters
in 2015. Additionally, in the context of launching tipp3.de
the employees in Germany involved in the topic received
training in player protection and preventative measures in
the field of sports betting.
Responsible Gaming Academy 2015
One of the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries
Group’s most important training measures is the Responsible Gaming Academy (RGA). In 2015, the Group organised the 12th RGA and brought international experts on
player protection to our event location Studio 44. Social
gaming, the legal environment and the related risks and
dangers were at the centre of last year’s RGA.
According to the legal regulations of Art. 25 (3) of
the Gaming Act as amended, WINWIN monitors the
frequency of the visits of all guests as well as their
stakes. In case that justified indicators suggest that the
frequency of visits and amounts played for of a WINWIN
guests are not in line with his/her financial situation, or
in particular might endanger his/her minimum subsistence level, actions ranging from a credit check and talks
with specially trained staff to a ban of the player are
taken. The programme for specially trained employees is
ensured by an interdisciplinary team of multi-professional

Dr Rachel Volberg, Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts rounded off the day with her
presentation “Still Needed: A Gender Perspective in
Gambling Research”. She showed that there is a need
to differentiate between male and female patients in the
field of gambling addiction and that a gender perspective
is still needed in research, treatment and prevention.
In addition to our employees, once again, we also
welcomed representatives of the Ministries of Finance
and Health as well as of renowned research, counselling
and therapy institutions from all over Austria.
Keith S. Whyte from the National Council on Problem
Gambling in Washington, USA, attended the Academy
for the third time and spoke about the currently fastest
growing segment in the global gaming industry, social
casino games. These games, basically identical to classic
casino games in terms of optical appearance and game
mechanics, do not offer any cash prizes. However, this
does not mean that they are necessarily free of charge –
despite numerous advertising claims – as one often has
to pay in order to progress in the game or to intensify the
gaming experience.
Dr Kurosch Yazdi provided an insight into the history
and the offer of the gambling addiction clinic in Linz.
Based on findings in psychiatric research and neuroscience he started a new project in which he plans to
conduct research on the brain reactions of pathological
players with different gaming behaviours.
The EU legal expert from Brussels Philippe
laemminck explained the current legal situation in
V
terms of social games and pointed out the risks of those
games and apps. He considers is the duty of national and
international regulatory authorities to react faster on the
rapidly changing technological possibilities and to define
a corresponding legal framework as well as to actually
enforce existing legal regulations in this context.
Doris Malischnig, Head of the Prevention Department
in the Group’s Responsible Gaming, Advertising & Sponsoring Division gave an overview on the various Responsible Gaming training measures for retail partners over
the last five years. Compared to the surveys conducted
by a research team of the University of Hamburg five
years ago, she pointed out a great increase in awareness
regarding the issues of player protection and the protection of minors.
40
Responsible advertising
The Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group
acknowledges the fundamental rules of conduct of the
Austrian advertising industry. The general advertising
principles are based on an ethical-moral groundwork
and the corresponding requirements of society with its
community-oriented standards and objectives. Therefore,
advertising is always a matter of social responsibility and
necessarily has to consider the rights, the self-image,
the interests and sensitivities of others. Considering the
special sensitivity of products advertised in the gaming
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
industry and the corresponding responsibility to protect
customers and players as well as all other recipients
of these advertising activities, the Group is committed
to live up to its social responsibility in this context by
exceeding the above-mentioned general advertising principles by far. This is achieved by means of implementing
and rigorously monitoring the continuous advancement
of a Code of Conduct for Responsible Advertising.
The goal is to provide information and explanation to
our customers. In this context, the objective is to highlight the advantages of the advertised product in order
to increase the attractiveness of the gaming portfolio
for our customers and thus – in line with the regulatory
intentions of the legislator – facilitate the desired channelling to legal, state-licensed and monitored gaming
offers. At the same time, the necessary protection of
at-risk groups has to be accounted for.
The “Code of Conduct Responsible Advertising”
certified by the European Lotteries and Toto Association
as well as by the World Lottery Association comprises
eleven principles and assures the compliance of advertising and sales activities with high ethical standards as
well as that advertising and marketing communications
do not address persons who belong to at-risk groups in
terms of problematic gambling behaviour. The consistent and all-over compliance with the Code of Conduct
Responsible Advertising is assured by a process which
has been implemented throughout the entire Group.
All advertising activities are examined and subject to
approval by the Corporate Function Responsible Gaming,
Advertising & Sponsoring before they are commissioned
and implemented.
41
Corporate Social Responsibility
T he topic of corporate social responsibility is of great
importance and value to Austrian Lotteries and became
even more significant in 2015. In the last year,
we focused on the preparation of CSR reporting
according to the guidelines G4 of the
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
For the Casinos Austria and Austrian Lotteries Group,
CSR goes far beyond the industry-specific and essential
issue of “Responsible Gaming” and includes the entire
range of responsibility from an economic, ecological and
social perspective. The Group is aware of its responsibility
based on its specific position and the sensibility of the
products and services offered and is therefore also willing
to act accordingly. For this reason, we have established
the position of a dedicated CSR officer as early as in 2007.
Reporting on the topic of responsibility is regularly implemented in the annual reports of the companies and since
2006 we have also been publishing separate CSR reports.
In September 2015, the current CSR report was published
in the form of a progress report. A full CSR report according
to the reporting criteria of the Global Reporting Initiative
GRI is published every two years. The release of the next
full report is planned for mid-2016.
For Austrian Lotteries, sustainability means to assume
responsibility for society, employees and the environment,
as well as to continue its business successfully. As a good
corporate citizen, the Group wishes to have an open dialogue as a partner with its relevant stakeholders.
In order to connect with other companies the Group is a
member of RespACT, the most important Austrian supporting organisation for CSR. In 2011, the Group joined the UN
Global Compact; in February 2011 it also became a member of Transparency International.
42
As it is essential to involve, or at least inform, as many
employees as possible in and on a CSR project in order to
practice CSR with full commitment within a company, a
strong focus is placed on information and communication.
In 2014, the so-called internal CSR forum was founded. In
this forum, employees from all business units and corporate functions meet on a monthly basis to exchange information and opinions on the topic of CSR and to initiate CSR
projects. Additional measures to improve the structuring
of CSR initiatives were implemented in 2015. An internal
framework for allocating the employee’s work hours spent
in the context of CSR topics was provided. Also, the Group
has made it possible to form CSR workgroups in which
internal and external members and experts are able to work
on current relevant topics. The CSR tasks of the employees
dispatched to the CSR forum by the business units and
corporate functions were included in their respective job
descriptions in 2015.
Moreover, in 2015 we began preparations for the future
CSR report according to the new GRI G4 standard. This
new standard requires companies to give a whole new
concept to their CSR reports: According to GRI G4, reports
have to be written with a stakeholder focus. Companies are
required to report on the most significant societal impacts
of their business activities and put their stakeholders and
their legitimate claims at the centre of reporting. After
completion of these preparations, in 2016 we will issue the
Group’s first CSR report that fully complies with GRI G4. It
will report on the years 2014 and 2015.

Security and Safety
Austrian Lotteries has implemented
a comprehensive, integrated security concept
in order to ensure availability, integrity and
confidentiality of business processes
and systems.
Security pertaining to the handling of games is a central
component of the company’s philosophy. In line with the
principles of our security policy the range of gaming products
is constantly enhanced and the most up-to-date t echnology
is employed. A cross-divisional Security Committee ensures
the adherence to all security guidelines and work instructions, and provides for the continuous improvement of security standards within the Casinos Austria/Austrian Lotteries
Group.
The Group’s security policy aims to
- conduct the games offered as well as the related business procedures in a proper and consistent way
- make sure that every gaming participant and guest has
the same chances of winning, and to prevent any kind
of manipulations of games
- provide all of the Group’s premises with the appropriate means of protecting the lives and health of gaming
participants, guests, and other customers
- ensure the observance of legal and Group-wide regulations and requirements
- guarantee the availability, confidentiality, and integrity
of tangible and intangible assets and that authorised
persons are able to use these assets if necessary
- avoid, and if avoidance is not possible, detect and remedy the loss or the forgery of information, information
systems and data carriers
- make sure that information cannot be accessed
by unauthorised parties or used for unauthorised
purposes
- ensure the provision of training courses regarding the
topics of security and safety to all employees and that
all employees complete these trainings.
Safe & healthy working environment
The legal requirements regarding the subjects of
industrial safety, fire protection, and waste management
form the basis for all of Austrian Lotteries’ related actions
and measures. Measures exceeding the legal scope
are taken if it appears reasonable in the context of the
employees’ safety and health. A total of 83 staff members (including holiday workers and temporary employees) received information about fire safety regulations at
our company in 2015.
In the introductory training programme “safe &
healthy – healthy & safe”, 23 people (including holiday
workers and temporary employees) were trained. The
topics included ergonomics at the workplace, nonsmoker protection, first-aid organisation, “falling”,
“using ladders and climbing aids”, as well as “lifting and
carrying”.
43
Employees
Austrian Lotteries stands for an attractive working
environment that promotes a company culture of open
communication, variety, and diversity. Following this principle, in 2015
many measures in the area of health and well-being, as well
as mentoring projects were implemented to support our
employees in their professional development and
the corresponding work-life balance.
The objective of our personnel policy is to quickly react
to new industrial, economic, and social challenges and
to contribute to the competitiveness of the company, to
develop new products and to tap new markets by employing a highly productive workforce.
This value-creation oriented HR management involves
a professional and company-specific development of the
staff and the organisation. By means of innovative performance, development and education tools for employees,
Austrian Lotteries is well-prepared to face the challenges
posed by the environment and the market. The Casinos
& Lotteries Academy, standing for the qualification of
employees and managers, information about company-
specific topics and the exchange of experiences and
knowledge by internal trainers and experts, is part of this
development programme.
At the beginning of March 2015, a new one-year
group-wide mentoring programme was started. The target
group included employees between the ages of 25 and
35 years, who had been working within the group for at
least two years and were not in a managing position. All
mentees applied for the programme with a motivational
letter and a short conceptual essay. After the assessment centre was completed, 16 persons were chosen
for the programme in which they will be assisted by
their assigned mentors. In line with the advancement of
women policy, two thirds of the programme spots were
reserved for women. The mentees were given access to a
special education and training offer and workshops to the
topical areas conflict management, innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, customer orientation, presentation,
appearance and effect. In addition, practical assignments
had to be worked out. The results will be presented to the
Managing Board in February 2016.

By using diverse working time schemes including
flexible working time without core hours, part-time, teleworking, partial retirement, parental part-time, as well as
educational leaves (sabbaticals), we support the employees’ flexibility as well as their commitment to their work.
Austrian Lotteries pays attention to carefully selecting
future employees and invests in their initial training and
integration. In support of this objective, a new recruiting
management tool has been introduced in 2015, covering
the entire recruiting process in one single system. This
also opens up many possibilities to potential applicants:
All contents, like job ads and applications forms, are
designed responsive so that they are optimally displayed
on any device. Applications can also be submitted via
LinkedIn or Xing.
Proof that Austrian Lotteries has chosen the right path
in its recruiting management was also provided with the
award of the silver Best Recruiters seal of quality. It is
the fourth time for our recruiting team to have achieved
the seal of quality, which is annually awarded among the
500 largest companies in Austria. In the industry ranking,
Austrian Lotteries scored the third place, in the overall
ranking the 23th place.
However, high scores in HR rankings also make it
a challenge for the group to keep this high level and to
advance systematically. In 2014, Austrian Lotteries was
ranked first in the evaluation of apprentice training offers
in the “place to perform” study. As a result of this success, we introduced the 360° feedback for our apprentices in 2015. As a special event for our apprentices, we
offered a health workshop with the vitality expert Tony
Klein as well as a corporate volunteering day (focus on
poverty) in cooperation with Young Caritas in order to
strengthen their social skills.
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
The corporate volunteering programme “Good for
Austria” was once again greeted with enthusiasm by
many employees of Austrian Lotteries in 2015. To provide one’s workforce and time for the good cause – as a
part of one’s regular work – enjoyed great popularity. The
person is at the centre of things in this programme, which
Austrian Lotteries has been offering its employees since
April 2013 and which has to date been used by 517 people. Be it by providing assistance for field trips or barbecues at social institutions or handy support in projects of
Caritas – our employees are now an essential element in
the planning of social institutions – which brings great joy
to both sides.
The audit “berufundfamilie” (i.e. “jobandfamily”) did
not only lay the groundwork for our corporate volunteering
programme but also for many additional measures contributing to an employee and family friendly company policy.
Since 2014, Austrian Lotteries has been fully certified
according to the audit “berufundfamilie”. During the last
year, we provided the offer of designing a flexible stageof-life model (full-time and part-time) as well as the annual
family business breakfast for employees on parental leave
and an in-house child care service (flying nannies) for
school-free days and days between holidays and weekends. The roadmap for maternity/leave management that
is provided in the Group’s Intranet was expanded with
domestic care leave and domestic care part-time module
in 2015. The module includes all information on legal and
financial manners for nursing/caring relatives.
The focus of our health offers was put on physical
exercise in 2015. At the beginning of April, our Day of
Health with the slogan “get moving – keep moving”
marked the start for our joint walking and running groups.
Highly motivated 123 of our employees participated in the
Business Run in Vienna on 3 September 2015.
The evaluation of psychological strains at the workplace was conducted in the autumn of 2014 and completed in the spring of 2015 with the analysis and the
derived measures.
The success of a business is the combined effort of
all employees. The more these efforts follow a common
direction, the more efficient the organisation. One instrument to achieve this is a structured one-on-one talk – the
performance management – between the employee and
his/her direct superior with the purpose of defining targets
and objectives for the next period together and to assess
the individual performance. Employees and supervisors
have the opportunity to give mutual feedback and to plan
specific measures for the professional development.
Thereby, our performance management contributes to
sustainably ensuring the success of the company.
The number of employees was 497 (full-time equivalents on an annual average).
45
Sponsoring
Since Austrian Lotteries was founded in 1986,
sponsorship has been an essential part of the company’s culture.
It is only natural to be active in Austria for Austria and
to support institutions and projects that represent the interests
of the population. As a result, more than 40,000 visitors were
welcomed at various venues on our “Lotteries Days”
throughout the last years.
This also includes the offer of our “Lotterien Tage”
(Lotteries Days), which forms a stronger link between the
company and its customers. Visiting the museum, the
theatre or even the zoo with any lottery ticket is an attractive offer that has been used by more than 43,000 people
over the past five years. On those days, our customers
enjoy free entry to the respective venue upon presenting
any product of Austrian Lotteries. It is thus sufficient to
bring for example a lottery ticket (Lotto, Toto, Bingo), or
a Brieflos or scratch-off ticket. These tickets do not have
to participate in the current round or ticket series. Over
the years, these events have become an institution in the
annual calendar and provide a wonderful opportunity to
engage in a real partnership beyond the standard cooperation with long-standing partners like the Vienna Volksoper
(People’s Opera), the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Vienna
Art History Museum) and various summer stages for the
benefit of all – and in particular our customers.
Gaming with Responsibility is also the guiding principle for Austrian Lotteries’ sponsorship activities. The
company shows responsibility in funding and supporting
projects that are of great public interest and promote longterm socio-political goals. Various partnerships have developed over many years and ensure continuity and planning
security for organisations and institutions. From the
Vienna Art History Museum (Kunsthistorisches Museum
Wien), the Austrian National Library and the WWF Austria,
to the Schönbrunn Zoo and the European Forum Alpbach
– Austrian Lotteries contributes to all these institutions for
the public benefit.
46
In many cases, help and support is needed immediately. Austrian Lotteries stands side-by-side with its partners, like for example the Austrian Red Cross Organisation
who – in face of the refugee situation in 2015 – urgently
needed financial support, which was provided quickly and
unbureaucratically. The funds were used to buy food,
medicine and clothes for people who had to leave everything behind.
How important it is to be able to plan ahead becomes
particularly evident in the area of research and science. In
2015, the research team headed by Dr Arabella Meixner
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
at the Institute for Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) of the
Austrian Academy of Sciences achieved a noticeable success regarding the potential healing of so-called “butterfly
children”. These children suffer from a serious congenital
skin disease. For them, nothing would be more desirable
than to live without blisters, lesions and pain. This dream
could now come true due to excellent research work. The
project conducted at IMBA is jointly realised with DEBRA
Austria, the patient organisation for people suffering from
Epidermolysis bullosa. Austrian Lotteries has been supporting this project since 2012.
their financial means by way of donations as well as
through carrying out a number lottery with non-cash
prizes to win. With the introduction of Lotto “6 out of 45”
in September 1986, a virtually unbeatable competitor
entered the stage. Therefore, Austrian Lotteries concluded
several agreements with the aforementioned organisations in order to cover their financial needs.
The media support is a special form of sponsorship.
Until 1986, various organisations like “Österreichische
Kinderhilfe” (Austrian Children’s Aid), “Österreichische
Sporthilfe” (Austrian Sports Aid), or “Österreichische
Seniorenhilfe” (Austrian Senior Citizen Aid) had generated

Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
1.3 Billion for Sports
Supporting sports is a socio-political mission
that Austrian Lotteries has been fulfilling
since 1986. During the past 29 years, a total
of EUR 1,309.10 million has been contributed
to the “Besondere Bundes-Sportförderung”
(special federal funding of sports).
The legal base for the launch of Toto in Austria was
the “Sporttoto-Gesetz” (Sport and Toto Act) which
was adopted by the National Council in 1948. Toto was
launched in the following year in order to generate the
financial means required for the re-establishment of the
Austrian sport after the war. Aiming to secure the financial
basis of the promotion of sports after the introduction of
Lotto and the takeover of Toto by Austrian Lotteries, a
clause guaranteeing the annual funding of sports based
on tax revenue from Lotto and Toto was included in the
Austrian Gaming Act.
In the context of this sports funding as it is stipulated
in the Austrian Gaming Act, Austrian Lotteries significantly
contributes to the financing of sports in Austria. Especially the “grass-roots sport”, which has an important
socio-political significance, benefits from this solidarity
arrangement. By limiting or even omitting the financial
means, numerous sports clubs would be deprived of the
basis of their activities. As a consequence, the loss of
variety and diversity in sports would be imminent – the
existence of many activities serving the public good would
be jeopardised.
The close connection of Toto and football in combination with the special commitment to youth sports is also
represented by the support of the International Youth
Toto Cup (an annual four-nation tournament for Under-17
national teams). This project was successfully continued in
2015 and was held for the 27th time.
With the amendment of the Gaming Act dated
19 July 2010 (“GSpG-Novelle 2008”) the federal government annually – starting with the year 2011 – provides
the amount of EUR 80 million from the taxes paid by the
licensee pursuant to Art. 14 to the promotion and funding
of sports. This amount shall be increased every year, for
the first time in 2013, to the extent to which the federal
gaming-related revenue obtained from the holder of the
licence according to Art. 14 has increased in the last year
as compared to the year before that.
With the amendment of the Bundes-Sportförderungsgesetz (Federal Sport Promotion Act) in 2013, the new
federal sport promotion fund was established, which
is in charge of handling the funding of Austrian sports
associations. Two professional advisory committees with
independent experts on mass sports and top-class sports
ensure that the funds are used in a target-oriented manner. The governing body of the fund is the “Bundes-Sportkonferenz” (Federal Conference on Sport) which includes
representatives of the Federal Ministry of Defence and
Sport and the Federal Sports Organisation.

2015 FINANCIAL YEAR
Economic Update
The economic growth in Austria became steady in
2015 as opposed to the previous years; however, compared to the European average, the economic momentum
remained somewhat restrained. In concrete terms, the
gross domestic product in Austria increased by 0.8 per
cent in the reporting year, whereas the average in the EU
28 reached 1.9 per cent. The economic stimuli anticipated
based on the recovery of the global economy mostly failed
to materialize during the first half of the year, which was
reflected in a weak development of Austrian exports. The
growth-depressing factors in this context also included
the perceptible slowdown of growth in the emerging markets. The EU sanctions against Russia and the resulting
decrease of national exports by 40 per cent put an additional burden on Austria‘s foreign trade. Only exports to
the USA, Austria‘s most important export market outside
the EU, increased significantly. Overall, the real growth of
exports of goods reached to 2.5 per cent in 2015.
The willingness to invest of domestic companies was
affected by the continued insecurity regarding the further
economic trends during the reporting year. Despite favourable financing conditions, gross fixed capital formation
only increased by 0.9 per cent in 2015. The second half of
2015, however, saw an increase in demand regarding fixed
asset investments due to slightly improved sales expectations. For 2016 economists expect the investment activity
to increase and more investments in the expansion of
production capacities. In terms of private consumption,
they also expect stronger stimuli for Austria‘s economy:
Whereas private household spending in 2015 increased
by 0.4 per cent, a plus of 1.7 per cent is expected for
the following year. Consumption will be mainly boosted
by people seeking asylum and their spending for basic
supplies as well as the tax reform that will be in effect as
of the beginning of 2016. Moreover, an upwards tendency
in spending has been identified in the fields of living,
well-being and sports, whereas buying decisions for longterm consumer goods tend to be put off by the Austrian
consumers. The savings rate remained at the low level of
7 per cent of the disposable income in 2015 due to the
continued low interest rates in the Eurozone.
52
The increase of consumer prices in Austria once again
decreased noticeably in the reporting year: The average
inflation rate decreased from 1.7 per cent to 0.9 per
cent year-on-year. This can be mainly attributed to the
decrease of prices for petroleum products, but also the
price development for electronic devices. Price-drivers,
however, were costs for housing and services, especially
in the insurance and catering industries. For 2016, a turnaround regarding the level of price increases is expected,
not least due to the ECB‘s expansive monetary policy. In
concrete terms, the inflation is assumed to increase to
1.5 per cent. The steady growth of the purchasing power
in Austria should continue despite the slightly increased
price index, especially as the tax reform brings some relief
for private households. This factor is attributed a similar
consumption-promoting effect as the necessary spending
for the continued support of refugees.
The situation of the domestic job market was a difficult
one in 2015 and was again characterised by a strongly
growing pool of potential workers which could not be met
by a rise in employment. This resulted in an increased
unemployment rate of 5.7 per cent according to the
Eurostat definition in the reporting year. For 2016, it is
projected that the 6 per cent mark will be exceeded, as
another increase in the working age population. Reasons
for this development can be found in immigration as well
as the rise of the effective retirement age and the employment rate of women. Additionally, the expected growth
of the domestic economy of 1.7 per cent is probably not
sufficient to turn around the negative tendency on the job
market. More positive was the development regarding the
financing situation of public budgets in 2015: The budgetary deficit was at 1.6 per cent of the GDP and thus below
the Maastricht limit. If the planned measures to re-finance
the income tax reform are realised accordingly, we can
also expect a value of less than 3 per cent for 2016.
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
Revenues and Earnings
With EUR 3,084.05 million, total sales of Austrian
Lotteries have decreased by 2.12 per cent year-on-year.
This can be mainly attributed to the downturn at WINWIN
(VLTs) due to new regulatory framework conditions as well
as to the decrease of EuroMillions sales with generally
low Europot developments and less jackpot-accumulating
rounds after Superpots.
The primary product Lotto „6 aus 45“ has outperformed
the results of 2014 with an increase in sales of 5 per cent
which can be attributed to a good jackpot development and
the successful implementation of product policy measures.
In 2015, Lotto has three double-jackpots more than in 2014.
Additionally, new product features like the team and
community playing options introduced in 2014 and various
social media activities stimulated the positive development.
Bingo also yielded an increase of 5.07 per cent, which can
be traced back to long multi-bonus cycles and the correspondingly attractive high tier totals. EuroMillions is below
the results of the previous year by 9.95 per cent, which is
due to a weaker Europot development than in 2014. Also,
there were less Superpot following rounds than in the
previous year. Toto recorded a decrease of 4.89 per cent;
Joker is slightly below the level of last year with 0.18 per
cent. Zahlenlotto (Digit Lotto) is 8.03 per cent below the
results of 2014, the Austrian Class Lottery (Klassenlotterie)
lost 6.65 per cent and ToiToiToi decreased by 4.42 per cent.
In the field of instant games, scratch-off tickets yielded an
increase of 1.35 per cent year-on-year, whereas break-open
tickets experienced a slight decrease by 1.54 per cent.
2015 was a year of changes for WINWIN (VLTs). Since
1 January 2015 (see the amendment to the Gaming Act
of 18 August 2010), WINWIN is subject to new regulatory framework conditions that had a strong impact on
the development of sales at WINWIN. On the one hand,
the number of VLTs per outlet had to be reduced to a
maximum of 50 and on the other hand, each VLT required
a connection to the Bundesrechenzentrum (Federal Computing Centre). Moreover, at the beginning of the year,
the mandatory, personalised player card was introduced,
which led to a certain restraint among many guests. All
in all, WINWIN recorded a decrease of 28.97 per cent as
compared to 2014.
In 2015, the total of winnings paid out amounted to
EUR 2,336.41 million (calculation based on all games of
Austrian Lotteries).
The net stakes of Lotto, Toto, Torwette, Zahlenlotto
1-90, Joker, ToiToiToi and EuroMillions result from the
respective prices less administrative cost.
The electronic lotteries (including Poker rake) on
in2day achieved an increase in sales of 10.46 per cent.
w
This is mainly based on the increased stimulation and animation of win2day users by means of various new product
launches in the casino games area and the corresponding
expansion of the mobile segment.

The tax payments of Austrian Lotteries in the past
year amounted to EUR 461.28 million, taking into account
gaming-related duties as well as income taxes and other
taxes and duties. Since the foundation of the company
in 1986, more than EUR 10 billion in taxes was paid
to the Republic of Austria. The gaming-related duties
in the amount of EUR 429.39 million consisted of the
licence fee of EUR 252.57 million, the gaming tax of
EUR 172.47 million and the value added tax on VLT sales
of EUR 4.33 million.
The net stakes of Lotto „6 aus 45“, Toto, Torwette,
Joker, and EuroMillions are all taxed with a licence fee of
18.5 per cent for the first EUR 400 million and of 27.5 per
cent for all additional amounts. The licence fee for the
Class Lottery amounts to 2 per cent of the stakes, for
54
Brieflos, scratch-off tickets, and ToiToiToi to 17.5 per
cent, and for Digit Lotto 1–90, Bingo, and Keno 27.5 per
cent. For the electronic lotteries on win2day, a licence
fee amounting to 40 per cent of the gross gaming revenue, i.e. the difference between stakes and payout, is
paid to the state.
The gaming tax for all games of Austrian Lotteries
– except for the electronic lotteries – amounts to
16 per cent of the stakes. For the electronic lotteries
at W INWIN (VLTs), the gross gaming revenue is subject to a gaming tax of 10 per cent as federal tax plus a
Provincial extra charge on this tax which amounts to up
to 150 per cent. Further, since 1 January 2011 a value
added tax on gross gaming revenue from electronic
lotteries at WINWIN is paid, pursuant to UStG (Value
Added Tax Act).

Sales & Distribution
ith its distribution organisation, Austrian Lotteries offers
a wide range of services for all retail partners. In 2015,
the in-depth training focused on new games and Responsible Gaming.
T he pilot operation for premium partners is another step
to increase quality and optimised sales.
The distribution organisation forms the link between
Austrian Lotteries‘ headquarters and its retail partners.
Our sales office employees administrate and process
the data and thus create the basis for all further internal processes. All requests and actions regarding the
establishment, transfer, and close-down of retail outlet
locations are handled together with the sales representatives. In addition to the regular constant supporting of
retail partners, the tasks of our sales representatives also
include the implementation of all marketing and distributional measures like promotions, trainings, and product
launches. Moreover, our sales representatives are also
consultants and speakers at regularly held get-togethers
and the academy of tobacconists.
The quality in selling lottery products as well as
in customer service is at the centre of all sales activities. After all, only well-trained sellers who know their
products are able to turn walk-in customers into regular
customers. However, in this context, there is also need
for support which Austrian Lotteries is happy to provide
to its retail partners on various different levels. One the
one hand, this is done by personal visits of our sales representatives where current topics are discussed with the
retail partners. On the other hand, retail partners receive
regular information on current promotions via monthly
letters and short-term notices via the online terminals.
The retail outlet magazine „Lotterien aktuell“ supplements the portfolio and offers background information on
the company and its products. Our retail partners‘ opinion on various topics is also surveyed in regular intervals
via the online terminals. The results are integrated in the
product development processes.
56
In July 2015 we started the pilot operation of the new
brand Premium Partner with 27 retail partners of the
tobacconist industry. Premium partners are characterised
by a clear and visible lottery branding and offer their customers specialised knowledge concerning our products.
All premium partner retail outlets have been equipped
with new exterior signage which also includes an LED
ticker. This ticker automatically displays the amount of
the current jackpot. If there is no jackpot, general advertising and information is displayed. The interior design is
also visibly Austrian Lotteries branded and our products
are placed clearly visibly for our customers. Additionally,
all employees of the premium partners have participated
in intensive training courses regarding product knowledge, the sale of lottery games and Responsible Gaming.
In the spring of 2016 the findings from this pilot project
will be evaluated and we will decide how the experiences from this project can be applied to a larger number
of interested retail partners.
Player protection and the protection of minors are of
special importance in our sales activities. A comprehensive training programme in Responsible Gaming was conducted at the retail outlets by our sales representatives in
the autumn of 2015. The training courses were based on
newly designed Responsible Gaming folders which were
also issued to the retail outlets at the time. Additionally,
the new Responsible Gaming customers’ brochures were
distributed to serve as a means of assistance for retail
outlet employees when they engage in conversations
with customers. From July to October the Responsible
Gaming knowledge was reinforced and tested through an
online training course via the terminal.
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
In the field of product training, the focus was on the
introduction of the EuroMillions system ticket and the
Lotto system quick pick in the spring and the Brieflos
relaunch in autumn.
Since November 2015, tipp3 has been available at
selected Micro terminals. The appropriate locations to
add tipp3 to their product range were selected together
with tipp3. Comprehensive tipp3 training courses for
retail outlet employees were conducted by the sales
representatives. Additionally, tipp3 betting slips, various
printed materials and dispensers were placed at the
outlets. The different legal regulations of the Provinces
required our sales office employees to process the
respective requests and forms. Further, a large part of
the tippBoxes was installed at the retail outlets in 2015.
Through their dedication and commitment, the retail
partners have significantly contributed to Austrian Lotteries‘ success in the past business year. They also assume
a central role in the realisation and implementation of the
Responsible Gaming principle. Based on several training
courses as well as on their daily business routine, our
retail partners are aware of the principles of Responsible
Gaming and the responsible handling of customers is a
natural aspect of their business. The Managing Board of
Austrian Lotteries would like to thank all retail partners
and their employees for the excellent cooperation and
partnership.
As of 31 December 2015, Austrian Lotteries had
3,224 retail partners at 5,193 locations.
57
Innovation and Developments
Being innovative and transferring new trends and tendencies
to the lottery business is an essential aspect in the product
development of Austrian Lotteries. T he handling and realisation
of major undertakings in the form of interdisciplinary projects is natural
part of the process. In 2015, many measures and actions were taken
to promote and advance innovation within the Group.
The developments of the past years show that the
challenges related to the digital transformation include
the demand for continuous change and adjustment of
business models and operational processes. Especially
in the context of new technologies for communication
and information, customer expectations and consumer
behaviour are subject to rapid changes.
To keep up with these developments and to further
promote innovation, the Casinos Austria and Austrian
Lotteries Group created the corresponding framework
conditions and environment in 2015. This also led to a
change in the organisational structure on 1 January 2016:
Innovation Management is integrated in the Corporate
Function „Corporate Development“ as an independent
department.
The year of innovation was filled with initiatives that
promoted the understanding of and for innovation and at
the required a high degree of employee involvement. All
communication channels of the Group were used for this
purpose – form the personal conversation, the classic
poster, the intranet to the employee magazine and the
internal Enterprise 2.0 collaboration platform.
The first step was taken with the Digital Native
Management Challenge right at the beginning of 2015,
in which young employees worked together in teams
to work out and present their ideas on a defined topic.
The winning team was invited to present their ideas at
the annual strategy meeting of our top management.
The innovation breakfast has been held quarterly since
June 2015. Employees are invited to a breakfast with
external speakers talking about current trends and developments. Robert Seeger was the first to present his
humorous and entertaining opinions on the „customer
58
journey 2015“. The talks are then published on the
intranet where they are available to all employees.
In order to further promote the management of ideas,
two new tools („!deenforum“ and „!deenchallenge“)
were created on the collaboration platform in the summer of 2015 to support and facilitate an uncomplicated
and unbureaucratic exchange of new ideas. The !deenforum is a forum in which suggestions for improvement
and other issues and concerns can be posted to simplify
the process. Colleagues can react directly, post their
opinion and find solutions. The !deenchallenge on the
other hand is meant to create ideas within a certain
period of time regarding a loosely defined objective.
Here, one can post his/her ideas to the respective campaign and all colleagues are invited to further discuss and
develop the idea. !deenchallenge puts the concept of
community building into practice.
Each year – since 2012 – the Innovation Day is held
in Studio 44 of Austrian Lotteries. As an internal event
organised by Innovation Management for all employees,
this day offers a sneak peek into the future. Trends are
presented; external speakers offer a new perspective on
new work methods and changing customer expectations.
In 2015, the Innovation Day had the motto „New Business Order“ and brought renowned experts on this topic,
like Julian Kawohl Christoph Giesa and Werner Wutscher,
on the stage.
The Innovation Day was also the starting point for
the new „Awesome!ness Challenge“ which will run until
the summer of 2016. In this challenge, all employees are
called to bring to life and further develop their ideas for
an „awesome customer experience“. The challenge is
organised in different stages and will bring the winning
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
team to Silicon Valley in the autumn of 2016 for a oneweek inspirational trip.
The development and intensification of our power of
innovation is also supported by the creation of the corresponding work environments. Since November 2015,
construction works have been taking place to create the
Group‘s new innovation hub, which will be located at
our headquarters in Vienna. The opening is planned for
March 2016.
With the trendblog and the monthly newsletter as
well as the annual summer academy, in which employees are invited to test new technologies and innovations
for themselves, the Innovation Management Department
itself offers comprehensive know-how on the topic.
The involvement of customers in the product development process offers a new quality and new possibilities to react more quickly on customer expectations
and needs. In this context, win2day uses methods like
co-creation and prototyping for the design of games and
processes in order to provide quick improvements at the
gaming platform. The findings and results will also have
an effect on the relaunch of win2day.
At Austrian Lotteries, the development of games and
products is always handled by interdisciplinary teams.
The project work is supported by the internal Enterprise
2.0 collaboration platform that was strongly enhanced in
2015.
Product and game developments in 2015
Regarding EuroMillions and Lotto, the focus in
2015 was on the system play options, especially the
EuroMillions system ticket that had been high in demand
among many customers. The implementation of the
complex handling of the game was completed with the
successful launch of the EuroMillions system ticket
on 4 May 2015. The EuroMillions system ticket offers
33 different systems. Customers may choose between
either hand-picking their numbers themselves or letting
the computer choose via quick pick. And of course, all
systems can also be submitted as „TeamTipps“ (option
of playing one ticket with up to ten members in a team).
Additionally, since that day, the Lotto system quick pick
including all 48 full systems has been available as well. In
this case, the random generator defines the bank numbers as well as the variable numbers.
But that‘s not all. For lottery players who like to put
together their own picks and individual playing systems,
Austrian Lotteries has developed and launched a system-play programme free of charge in July 2015. The
Lotto and EuroMillions System Champion allows our customers to try their luck with a customised system. The
System Champion is available for free on win2day, where
one can also directly submit one‘s picks. Additionally, it is
also possible to store the data on a USB device and play
those picks in the retail outlet of one‘s choice.
In cooperation with the Austrian Post (Österreichische
Post AG) the integration of the Post‘s cash register system into the gaming system of Austrian Lotteries was successfully completed in May 2015. Since then, customers
have had the possibility to participate in Austrian Lotteries‘
draw-based games directly at the post office.

The website www.lotterien.at experienced a complete relaunch at the end of 2014 and now offers a
modern design and responsive contents - optimised
for all devices. With the scratch-off ticket „Frohe
Weihnachten“ („Merry Christmas“) we also offered a
second chance of winning at www.lotterien.at for the
very first time. In addition to the classic scratch action,
the Christmas ticket also offered a completely new feature: All tickets that did not win were eligible for registration at www.lotterien.at during the defined promotion
period to participate in the mentioned second chance of
winning. During a period of eight weeks, 2 x EUR 500
in cash and 20 x EUR 15 in gift credits for win2day were
raffled off.
Since 2015, win2day has also been offering live
roulette. It is played as American Roulette with a Zero.
Bets are made at the virtual table while being able to
watch the real wheel and following the ball‘s movement
live. Via web cams and video streaming, a proper-style
casino feeling experience is provided. Users may bet on
all classic roulette chances, neighbours and finals. The
dealers operate the game and the players have the possibility to engage in a live chat with them. Live roulette
is also available via smartphone or tablet. Moreover, the
casino game range on win2day was expanded by the slot
games „Almgaudi“, „Classic 243“, „Falco“, and „Space
Adventure“, as well as the video poker games „Draw
Poker 2“ and „Flush Power Poker“ plus the roulette
version American Roulette in 2015. The mobile version
now also offers the games „Almgaudi“, „American
Roulette“, „Classic 243“, „Falco“, „Grand Black Jack“,
„Lucky Joker“ and „Space Adventure“. The games can
be played on mobile devices with the two leading operating systems iOS and Android directly via win2day.
Innovation Award of European Lotteries for
TeamTipp and the mobile scratch-off ticket
The Innovation Award of European Lotteries honours
the best innovations in the lottery game business of the
last two years. All 78 member lotteries of the umbrella
60
organisation of European lottery operators are eligible
to participate. They are invited to submit a product, a
service or a process for internal or external customers.
The criteria for evaluation include power of innovation, customer benefit and implementation. Austrian
Lotteries made first place with its „TeamTipp“ for Lotto,
EuroMillions and Toto and also scored the third place
with the mobile scratch-off ticket that had been developed together with win2day.
Annual Report Austrian Lotteries 2015
Future Prospects
Austrian Lotteries will additionally strengthen its
future market position with the introduction of new
games and innovative technologies. As a dynamic and
future-oriented company, especially in the technological
field, Austrian Lotteries belongs to the leading lottery
operators in Europe.
As of 1 January the Innovation Management Department has been integrated into the Corporate Function
„Corporate Development“.
On 9 January 2016, WINWIN
opened its 16 th outlet - Wels II.
Since Monday, 25 January 2016, it has been possible
to play up to ten different joker numbers per ticket. At
the same time, Joker has also been introduced as an
add-on game for ToiToiToi.
The successful event series of the Responsible Gaming Academy will be continued in 2016. On 2 May 2016,
the Academy will be held for the 13 th time at Studio 44.
Austrian Lotteries is closely following the current
discussions pertaining to the regulations of the gaming
business within the European Union. The right to implement lotteries will remain with the individual national
governments.

Notes to the Financial Statements 2015
I. Explanation of accounting policies and valuation methods
1. General principles
The financial statements have been prepared by the Managing Board of the company
according to the provisions of the Austrian Commercial Code (UGB). The company is to be
classified as a large corporation pursuant to Art. 221 of the Austrian Commercial Code.
These annual financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Austria‘s principles
of adequate and orderly accounting and the general requirement of presenting a true and fair
view of the company‘s assets, and its financial and earning position.
In the preparation of the financial statements, the principles of completeness were adhered to.
In terms of the valuation of individual assets and liabilities, the principle of separate valuation
was observed and based on the assumption of going concern.
To account for the principle of prudence, only profits realised on the balance sheet date are
recognised and all recognisable risks and impending losses have been considered.
The accounting policies and valuation methods used for the present annual financial statements are consistent with those applied hitherto.
2. Long-term assets
Intangible assets are recognised at acquisition cost less scheduled amortisation. The
scheduled amortisation is applied on a straight-line basis.
Property, plant and equipment are valued at acquisition cost, less scheduled depreciation.
Pursuant to Art. 7 EStG (Income Tax Act) scheduled amortisation and depreciation is applied
on a straight-line basis.
Low-value items for which the cost of acquisition is less than EUR 400.00 are fully depreciated
and derecognised in the year of acquisition.
Financial assets appear in the balance sheet at acquisition cost. Unscheduled depreciation/
amortisation is effected if the value to be applied at the balance sheet date is lower.
3. Current assets
Goods were valued at average acquisition cost.
In terms of receivables and other assets, identifiable risks are accounted for via valuation
adjustments.

4. Provisions
Provisions for pensions, severance pay and anniversary bonuses are determined according
to IAS 19 („projected unit credit method“) on the basis of a discount rate of 2.50 % (previous
year 2.50 %) under pensions, severance pay and anniversary bonuses. In the calculation of
severance and long-service bonus provisions, the statutory age for early retirement with transitional regulations and a discount for employee turnover have been assumed.
The other provisions have been made for all risks and contingent liabilities identifiable at the
time of balance sheet preparation in line with the prudence principle and reasonable commercial
judgement.
5. Liabilities
The liabilities were reported at the amount of repayment.
6. Currency conversion
Foreign currency liabilities are valued according to the ask price on the balance sheet date,
provided the ask price is higher than the book rate
