French Quad Championship
on the
Night races
are the highlight
Since 2004, FUCHS Silkolene has been official partner to the quad championships on ice that are organized by the DGO and are
staged under the patronage of the French Motorcycling Federation (Fédération Française Motocycliste). These races, which are
unique in France, take place in the heart of the Alps. The schedule for 2008 includes an endurance race over 24 hours and five sprint
races. 200 riders compete against each other on icy and difficult tracks with their special two-wheel-drive quad bikes. Depending
on the course’s degree of technical difficulty, these quads can reach top speeds of up to 90 km/h. The main difficulty is finding the
optimum combination of sliding and acceleration. The night races are the big highlight.
After four seasons in which the FUCHS specialists were present at the races, the majority of the teams use the lubricants from
FUCHS Silkolene. The quad dealers that were present at the races, usually also team owners such as Comas Motos (Team Race) and
Grenoble Motos, distribute and sell FUCHS products through their companies.

Quad Races: Race Team
The Race team, which has only
been participating in the extensive
competitive programs of events for
two seasons, includes six distinguished
riders from the motor sport scene. The
team’s performance was rewarded in
2007 with several title wins.
The Race team, which was founded at
the initiative of Comas Motos and the
companies EMC and AJM, participates
in more than 45 races every year.
Comas Motos, the first quad bike dealer
in France and licensed dealer for Suzuki,
became aware of the Silkolene brand
through the representatives from FUCHS.
It incorporated FUCHS Silkolene into its
range of products.
The riders Mathieu Bonnard, Yoann
Ciclet, Berangère Debod, Stéphane
Morin and Fabien Sirouge joined the
team in order to benefit from the
experience and support of the team
manager and the rider Jean-Michel
Abfalter as well as the whole team.
The rider chosen by the team, Yoann
Ciclet, is contesting the Enduropale of
Touquet 2008, in which 400 riders from
all over Europe participate.

Invitation from FUCHS Silkolene
At the weekends which are specially organized
for FUCHS dealers for advertising purposes,
an exciting show is offered and guests have
the opportunity to ride the quads on the ice.
Approximately thirty guests came
to the winter sports resort of Isola 2000
to share unforgettable moments together.
François Speck has spent ten years
producing shock absorbers for quad
bikes. Today he is the leading provider
in the French market. “In 2001, we
conducted our own study to find
a lubricant suitable for the shock
absorbers. Together we developed
Comp Fork 03.” Today François Speck
is a big advocate of FUCHS lubricants.
At the races he met the dealer Comas
Motos and the two of them together
formed the Race Team. His two sons,
Mickael and Grégory, support the
riders with practical help and advice,
even if they sometimes participate in
the races themselves.

Pierre-Alexandre Renet, who was
chosen by the French Motorcycling
Federation (Fédération Française
Motocycliste), formed, together
with the two talented riders,
Sébastien Pourcel and Nicolas
Aubin, the France team that
participated in the 2007 Motocross
Nations Cup in Budds Creed (USA).
Despite a course with a typical
American layout and the tropical
temperatures that the Honda 450
had to contend with, PierreAlexandre Renet managed to
collect valuable points. Thanks to
the equally splendid performances
of his two team-mates, the team
achieved second place on the
podium.

riding potential
The NGS team is taking on a new
challenge in 2008 by signing up Marvin
and Mickael Musquin, two great hopes
in French motocross. The two brothers
are participating in the MX2 World
Championship for the first time and
are reinforcing their presence in the
French Elite Championship in the 125 cc
class (motorbike: Honda CRF 250).
“We recognized how Pierre-Alexandre
Renet was able to increase his level
of performance considerably with help
from Bruno. His competitive attitude
impressed us. The fact that Honda has
a direct involvement greatly influenced
our decision,” the brothers confirmed by
common consent. ”Our aim is to develop a
young, powerful and professional team,”
adds team manager Bruno Losito.
18-year-old Marvin, who has already
won three titles, has set himself
big goals for 2008.
He is aiming to come in the top 10 in
the world championship standings and
is striving to claim the title in the French
Championship. He has great potential as
a rider and great determination. 23-yearold Mickael, who is less aggressive out on
the open course than his younger brother,
is working on his area of weakness in
order to come among the top 15
in the world.

FUCHS starts its own race series
As FUCHS Silkolene has very good links within the competitive
sports scene, the company is now starting its own race series called
“Silkoneige”, quad races on ice which will take place in parallel
with the French Quad Championships on ice.

Wilfried Cally, who has been involved in racing for
ten years, takes part in various championships in
order to broaden his skills. He particularly enjoys
coastal races.
“You have to be fast, attack and display superior
riding skills at the same time. These courses are
dangerous, but this just presents an additional
challenge.” There are many successes, specifically
with podium finishes in the French Mountain
Championship and Rally Championship.
Cally has been using FUCHS Silkolene products for
several years now: “We have very special products
that are ideally suited for the preparation or servicing
of the individual components in the engine.”
Furthermore, these products are particularly suitable
for the different requirements in the respective races
(Speed, Cross or SM).
FUCHS Silkolene products:
Silkolene Pro 4,
Silkolene Pro 2,
Silkolene All-in-One Contact Cleaner,
MAINTAIN DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid,
Silkolene Pro Chain Oil,
Silkolene Brake Cleaner,
Silkolene Pro Boost,
Silkolene Fork Oil Viscosity 5 for the 125 RS,
5W for 125 CR and 15W for the 650 XR,
Silkolene Pro Prep,
Silkolene Silkopen
The first running of the
Silkoneige race series organized
by FUCHS will take place in four
heats in the Alps. The cup is
exclusively reserved for FUCHS
Silkolene dealers that select their
own motorcyclists. The races are
governed by strict rules and fall
under the auspices of the French
Motorcycling Federation
(Fédération Française
Motocycliste).
The 125 cc to 650 cc
motorbikes meet the strict
specifications on
environmental protection.
The 25 young
participants in
this cup
ride on
technically
demanding
circuits. The cup
is a springboard
to the top event,
the Andros Trophy.
In agreement with the
organizer of the Andros
Trophy, the winner of the
2008 Silkoneige series will
take part in the 2008/2009
Andros Trophy along with 16
selected professional riders.
The winners of the individual
races will each receive a set
that contains a large selection of
FUCHS Silkolene lubricants.
Ortema FUCHS Team
Long Track Team World Championship and European Championship
Two runners-up titles
claimed
Germany
FUCHS is again supporting the Ortema
team in 2008 and has therefore been a
partner to this team for five years in a
row. In 2007, the team put in brilliant
performances with victories at the Grand
Prix in Germany and France in the Long
Track World Championship. In the overall
standings, rider Stephan Katt just missed
out on a place on the podium with his
fourth-placed finish and Sirg Schützbach
came eighth. To crown off the season, the
two riders each picked up runner-up titles:
Katt in the German Championship and
European Championship and Schützbach
in the Czech Republic. “Our primary aim
is to claim the title of world champion or
at least a medal in 2008.”
Team manager Ivo Schützbach, who
used to be a rider himself, ended his
career in the 1990s following a fateful
accident. However, the sports journalist
has retained links with competitive sport
through his brother. As an all-rounder,
Ivo is indispensable when it comes to
management in areas such as logistics,
sponsoring, marketing, PR and the
recruitment of new riders.
The mechanics use lubricants from
FUCHS Silkolene such as:
Silkolene Chain Lube,
Silkolene Pro Prep,
Silkolene All-in-One,
Silkolene Engine Cleaner,
Silkolene Brake Cleaner,
TITAN GT1 SAE 0W-20.
“We only select riders of a very high
caliber who can fit into our team. Out on
the track everyone must then rely on their
own abilities.” The racing season from
March to October comprises approx. 40
races on average.

As an official driver for the team, Rainer
Brückner has set himself a number of
targets for 2008 driving a CK 35RS
based on a Mercedes SLK 350. Ingvar
Carlsson will accompany him as codriver in some races. “Our aim is to
come among the top 10 in the overall
standings in the 24-hour race and to
claim a podium finish in our class (SP6).
The team has also confirmed that it will
again participate in the VLN race series
in which it has also set the benchmark
very high with a finish among the top 3
in its class. For a number of years now,
the team’s mechanics have sworn
by FUCHS TITAN GT1 SAE 0W-20 on
account of this product’s excellent
lubricating properties.
“After 24 hours of stress and strain
under the toughest conditions, the
quality of the lubricants is not impaired
in any way.”
• Schall-motorsport Team
FUCHS is extending its commitment as a
partner to the Schall-motorsport team for
the third time in succession. The threeman team has been actively involved in
motor sport for 20 years and its 190 starts
make it one of the most experienced
teams around. With its participation in
the 2007 German Endurance Champion
ship at the Nürburgring, the team’s drivers
ended the season successfully with three
podium finishes in the overall standings
and six victories in their class (E1-XP). It
was the fighting spirit displayed by the
brothers Andreas and Ralf Schall and
Volker Strycek that enabled them to
finish second in the overall standings
of the extremely prestigious six-hour
race for the ADAC Ruhr Cup, where they
were able to successfully see off 200
other competitors. They also want to
push their Opel Astra to the limits of its
performance levels in the ten races in the
VLN Championship in 2008.

Italy
After all of his work for the Norma team,
Massimo Armetta is now tackling a
new challenge for the next three years.
Together with his co-driver Michele
Serafini, he will be competing in the
Italian Prototype Championship for the
Promec Engineering team driving a
vehicle under the Promec make. In this
championship, the best constructors
battle for the first places. Despite its
small scale, the Promec factory boasts
great technical know-how. The CN4
Alfa Romeo prototype is so far the only
vehicle in the world to be manufactured
from carbon fibers.
Massimo Armetta’s main aim is to win
the Italian Championship in the next two
years. His second aim is to build racing
cars in cooperation with prestigious
partners: Alpha Romeo and FUCHS.
“I have been using FUCHS lubricants
for several years, in particular:
Titan GT1 0W-20 and
Titan 5 Speed 75W90.”

FUCHS, boasts
four exceptional
riders who take
part in the Italian Speedway Championship. One of them,
Andrea Baroni, succeeds thanks to his determination and pure
talent. Despite the pressure from his opponents, he keeps
his cool out on the circuit and wins the title which is highly
coveted among speedway riders. The short-term goals of the
Motoclub La Favorita are to assemble a competitive team
to participate in international speedway races.
Starting
off with
passion
In 2008, the Grandi Corse team is entering Davide Grandi on a
Yamaha R1 in the Superbike Championship as well as Simone
Conti and Stefano Cantagallo in the new Yamaha R1 Trophy.
“In 2007, I did not really stand a chance of competing with
a production bike, as my 15th-placed finish in the Superbike
Championship demonstrates. But further modifications made
to my Yamaha during the season mean that from 2008 I can
realistically aim for a place in the top 10 in the championship.”
Davide Grandi has formed a new team which is full of passion
for the sport.
Davide tested various lubricants and opted for FUCHS Silkolene
Pro 4 10W-40. “We cannot afford to make any mistakes as on
the straights we reach speeds of up to 303 km/h.”

FUCHS is again the official sponsor
for the 2008 season for the following
long-standing riders in ice speedway:
Franky Zorn, Martin Leitner, Markus
Skabraut and Günther Bauer. The 2008
season started in December 2007
and ends in March 2008. In total, it
comprises 15 races which are held in
Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Russia
and the Netherlands.
A u s t ria
These legendary sprint races have
been taking place since the 1970s and
originated in Northern Europe. The
riders use specially tuned motorbikes
whose tires are fitted with 27 mm long
spikes to provide grip. The engines
deliver a power output of 90 hp and
accelerate the machines up to almost
150 km/h.

Franky Zorn:
100 per cent success rate
Following a successful season of racing
in 2007, Franky Zorn impressed with
a fifth-placed finish in the 2007 Ice
Speedway Grand Prix. “For 2008 we have
planned a number of special technical
improvements to the motorbike in order
to finish in the top 3.” Zorn was victorious
in the first races held in Örnsköldsvik,
Böllnäs (Sweden), St. Johann (Austria)
and Steingaden (Germany) and he is at
the top of the championship standings.

Intense preparation
During the summer season, Martin
Leitner devoted himself intensely to
training. In the few races in which he took
part, he managed a respectable sixthplaced finish. “I set myself the target of
qualifying for the final round of the world
championship and I would like to achieve
good results with the Austrian team.”
He has been using FUCHS lubricants for
several seasons now. “I believe that the
lubricants from FUCHS are the best. The

Class of its own
Four drivers from the Intrepid team owe their participation
in the grand final of the Rotax Max Challenge to their titles
and performances. Every year, the 216 best drivers from 55
countries and five continents compete against one another in
this final contest.
Kevin Reichard and Daniel Schellnegger, who only recently
became Austrian champions in the senior and junior classes,
represented their country in Al Ain (VAR). The champion from
2006, Ben Georges, and the Dutchman Ricardo Romkema,
guest of honor of BRP-Rotax, returned to the group of drivers.
Ricardo came second in the last race after dominating the race
for long periods. The 16-year-old Kevin Reichard, who has been
involved in competitive sport for only three years, surprisingly
managed to grab fifth place in view of the 70 competitors he
was up against. A number of difficulties meant that Daniel
failed to live up to expectations with his 12th-placed finish.
Despite a one-year break from active driving, Ben Georges’
splendid fourth place demonstrated that he has real skill as
a driver.

FUCHS Hellas Team
Great dominance
In 2008, the FUCHS Hellas team is again putting its faith in the riders and drivers in motorbike and automotive racing who
excelled with fine victories in the 2007 season. These riders from the amateur and professional field can expect an extensive
sporting program because they will be participating in different cups, rallies and championships.
The eight motocross riders from the FUCHS team excelled themselves with countless podium finishes and victories in
particular in the various motocross championships in 2007. After six competitions, three riders have each claimed the title
of champion in various categories in the Greek Scramble Championship: Alexander Karanasis (A2), Dimitris Bagelakos (B3)
and Keramidas Dimitris (B4). Several riders from the team will be participating in the 2008 race on the beach of Touquet.
Of the racing drivers in the Nikolopoulos team, five drivers excelled by outstanding performances, best of all Xenofodas
Nikolopoulos at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Evo 6.

of a successful season in 2007. In a
305 hp Mitsubishi Evo 6, which reaches
a top speed of 205 km/h, they master
the courses with great skill. “Being
in superb physical shape and having
powerful equipment are the foundation
on which victories are built. We will
12
continue to develop the Mitsubishi in
2008, but our aim is to procure a
vehicle from the ten series as soon
as it is available on the market.” The
professional driver Xenofodas is involved
in a comprehensive program of support
for young drivers and he invests a great
deal of time in preparing the vehicles.
Today his team comprises five drivers

Maciej Stanco, who boasts many years of
experience in motor sport and has participated
in important championships, has an extensive
Porsche 997 GT3, which reaches top speeds
of 300 km/h.
Two new drivers have moved to his team in
order to benefit from his experience.
Alexander, a passionate motor sport fan, made
his debut in 1990 and has remained true to
this discipline ever since. His championship
victory in 2007 was the result of an extensive
racing program on the motocross circuits,
which enabled him to improve his times, but
also targeted power training in the gym, which
enabled him to build up the muscles which
are required for his sport. “The most difficult
thing with the races is to be able to skillfully
manage fatigue and risk.” Although Alexander
is only participating in this championship as an
amateur, he works like a real professional and
demands flawless equipment to work with.
“This competitive sport demands equipment
that is extremely competitive in every respect.
I use products from FUCHS Silkolene which
have been shown to be reliable and very
powerful over many years.”

The philosophy of FUCHS LUBRICANTS (AUSTRALASIA) is to exhibit 100 per cent commitment and to be the number
one in the development of lubricants, customer service and partnership. As FUCHS works together with the best drivers
and professional teams in the extremely spectacular dragster racing, the company has become the best-known sponsor
in the Top Fuel Dragster category. The three selected teams have continued their series of successes by using exclusively
FUCHS lubricants. FUCHS therefore demonstrates its know-how in that the company works on the development of
lubricants for 8000 hp engines and benefits from the kudos of supplying the “fastest oil in Australia”.

After his terrible accident in his 7000 hp dragster at more than

focused all of his efforts on building a new dragster. He asked
the famous American driver Brandon Bernstein for advice
when it came to the chassis and received support for further
improvements from the McKinney Corporation, an icon in
dragster racing which is based in Indianapolis (USA): “The
whole team worked at full pace to assemble the engine, the
cabling, the clutch, the lighting set, the dashboard, the rear and
front wings and all other parts of the vehicle. The Night Fire Top
Fuel race provided a true test of strength for the material. The
fact that we almost reached the final was a huge success for
the team.” Despite being absent from the third race, the FUCHS
Lamattina team still managed to come eighth in the 2007/2008
championship.

As the second generation of the Read family of racing
drivers, Phil is following in the footsteps of his father
Jim and, after a hard-fought battle with his main
rival Darren Morgan, he won his first title in the Top
Fuel Championship in the 2006/2007 season. Martin
Stamatis, the team’s second driver who participates
in the Australian National Championship, amazed
everybody with a really outstanding performance:
a speed record of 529 km/h. Martin Stamatis is
making great progress in the Australian National
Championship and he is ultimately set to compete in
the Top Fuel Championship.
Phil Read backed up his performances in the Night
Fire Top Fuel race with a victory and he also increased
his lead over his main rival Alan Dobson. After the
first four races of the season, the team’s two drivers
were positioned in the top 3 of the Australian Top
Fuel Championship: Phil Read is in the lead and
Martin Stamatis occupies third place.

fourth karting season and recorded numerous successes:
First place in the CRG Adrenalin Cup in the Comer 80
category, third place in the Slovak Championship and
third place in the Cup of Moravia in the Comer 60
category. This is an impressive list of successes and a
very promising start to a career which allows him to be
regarded as one of the most talented kart drivers of his
generation. With the 26 races every year, he is able to test
the different circuits and measure himself against other
drivers. Karting is a springboard and breeding ground for
the various disciplines in motor sport. The young talent,
who is sponsored by FUCHS, is aiming to claim the title in
the Slovak Championship in his category in 2008.

FUCHS is committed as an official partner to
the driver training that is offered to advanced
drivers by the Motor Sports Club. The aim is
to make the participants aware of safety
in road traffic while they are at the wheel
of their own vehicle. Steering, braking and
cornering techniques are communicated. As
a sponsor, FUCHS in Singapore provided the
club with three vehicles free of charge for
the training courses and presented each
participant with four liters of lubricant.
In addition, there were informative events
about the choice of lubricants, the oil change
intervals and lots of further aspects. Many
people attended this presentation even though
they had not taken part in the driver training.
This is why FUCHS LUBRICANTS is planning
new courses for car drivers and motorcyclists
in Singapore.
