In view of this, these three courseworkprogrammes shouldcontinueto be offeredand no consolidation is requiredwith existingVistaprogrammes. RESOLUTION A courseworkMaste/s programmein Counselling Psychology is recordedon the programme qualification mixesof both the UPE-summerstrand and upg-vi&a campuses. However, giventhe highdegreeof synergybetweenthetwo programrnes, it wasRESoLVEDTo REGoMMEND thatthe UPE-sumrnerstrand qualification (qualification code 60200)replacesthe Vistaqualification for the 2005-intake' This resolutionwas passedon the understanding that sensitivity be shown to the community networksand partnerships thathavebeenestablished on the Vistacampusthroughthe offeringof the Maste/sprogramme andtheestablishment of theVistapsychology clinic, whichplays a pivotalrolein the community engagement activities on the campus.Thismatterwill be addressed furtherin 6.3. Motivation The Mastels programmesin CounsellingPsychologyoffered on the UpE-Vistaand UpESummerstrand campuseshave many simlaritiesand'the outcomesare essentially the same. Consequently, it is administratively simplerto recommend thatthe UpE degreereplaces the Vista degreeas all the detailscurrently recorded forthedegreecanremainas is. It was RESoLVEDTo RECOMMEND thatthe core of the coursework Maste/sprogrammes be offeredon the summerstrandcampusbut that certainof the programme offeringsand practical trainingcouldbe offeredon thevistacarnpusso as to maintain and expandcommunity partnerships and engagernent activitieson.the-Vistacampusas well as to broadenthe base oi learning ', and trainingopportunities providedto Master's students. Motivation The recommendation thatthe coreof the coursework Maste/sprogrammes is offeredon onecampus is linkedto fact that the moduleofferings of thecoursework programmes arefairlyintegrated, which makesit costeffectiveto locatethecoreof theprogrammes on onesite.Furthermore, thesuggestion thatthe coreof the programmes be offeredonthe Surnmerstrand campusis linkedto the.,irltroitity of computers, Internetaccess, journalsand books, researchsupport, and casesupervisors on the summerstrand campus. However, althoughit is suggestedthat the core of the programmes be presented on the Summerstrand campus, theintention inat someof the Mastefsworkshops could be runon theVistacampus.Furthermore, in thesamewayas Maste/sstudents areinvolved in practical work and communityengagement activities in the PsythoiogyClinicon the Summerstrand campus, Maste/sstudentswill be involvedin Vistacampus-bised cimmunityprojects and see clientsat the Psychology Clinicon the Vistacampus.Thesesuggestions havebeenmadeagainstthe backdrop thatthe Psychology Department feelsthatit is importlntfor thecareerdevelopment of undergraduate studentson both campusesto be ableto interactwith postgraduate studenis. A joint departmental maste/staskteam has beentaskedwiththeresponsibility oi drawing,p r proposal to giveeffectto the varioussuggestions relatedto theoffering of the Master'sprogrammes.
