We’ll get acquainted with our group at dinner as we look forward to the trip ahead. Accommodations: The Holiday Inn Express. (D) Join us on this unforgettable tour to the Palmyra and Kirtland Church History sites. The highlight of the trip will be the Hill Cumorah Pageant. Other experiences include the Peter Whitmer Farm, Sacred Grove, Palmyra & Kirtland Temples, Niagara Falls, Morley Farm, Whitney Store and the John Johnson Farm to name a few. Next we’ll see the restored Joseph Smith Sr. home and farm including the restored log cabin where Moroni first appeared to Joseph Smith. Next, we’ll stop at the E. B. Grandin Building where the Book of Mormon was printed and then we’ll see the grave site of Alvin Smith, eldest brother of Joseph Smith. After lunch we’ll travel to Fayette, NY to the Peter Whitmer Farm where the church was organized on April 6, 1830. Tonight we see the Hill Cumorah and witness the highlight of our tour, “The Hill Cumorah Pageant.” Accommodations: The Holiday Inn Express. (B,L) Day 3: Thursday, July 16 Palmyra/Niagara Falls/Kirtland Today we continue our journey to Niagara Falls, the oldest state park in the USA. We’ll board the Maid of the Mist boat which passes directly in front 1-866-277-0900 of the falls and enters Horseshoe Basin. This is a fun activity you don’t want to miss! After free time for lunch and shopping we travel to Kirtland, OH. Accommodations: Radisson Hotel. Relative to the meager resources of the Saints at the time, the Kirtland Temple is probably the most costly temple ever constructed by the church. Next we’ll see the Temple Quarry and have a picnic lunch. We will spend the afternoon visiting the Historic Kirtland village including; the LDS Visitor’s Center, the Whitney Home and Store, the Johnson Inn, the Ashery, and Sawmill. Accommodations: Radisson hotel. (B,L,D) Day 5: Saturday, July 18 Kirtland/Hiram/Salt Lake City We depart this morning for Hiram, OH to visit the John Johnson Farm. It was at the Johnson farm that Joseph Smith received the vision of the three degrees of glory. We conclude our tour with a late afternoon flight home. HOST KEN PETERSON: Ken Peterson earned his Computer Science degree at the University of Utah and his MBA at the University of Phoenix. He served in the Ontario, Canada mission. He spent many years teaching seminary and institute in the Salt Lake City area. Ken will tell you that one of his passions is Church History and it is one of his favorite subjects to teach. He recently served as Mission President of the Cleveland Ohio mission and enjoyed the opportunity to continue learning about the beginnings of the church. Ken has also served as a Stake President, Bishop, on the High Council and in many other leadership positions.
