BOARD MEETING MINUTES - July 5, 2012
This meeting was held Thurs., July 5th because the first Wed. of the month fell on the 4th of July. It was called to order at 7:40
pm by President Joe Beck at the Tomoka Grille in Ormond Beach. Those in attendance in addition to Joe Beck (& Joan) were Flo
Strauss (& Harley), Dave Evans, Norm Echelberry (& Mary Ann) and Rick D’Louhy. Vice President Ned Kraft, Tour Director
John Meinelt and Directors Bill Becker and Dick Brouillard could not attend. Non-board members in attendance were Dave Dornbach, Warren & Adele Armstrong, and Scott & Emily Kroeger.
Flo Strauss’s Sunshine Report mentioned that she delivered our club’s “Star” to Dawn Sautter, at the memorial service June 27th
for Ron Sautter, our club president in 2006 & 2007, who passed away June 10th. Besides Flo & Harley Strauss attending the service, several other club members.were also there. Flo advised that Johnny Meinelt has had surgery following a serious foot injury.
Treasurer Dave Evans reported on revenues and expenditures in June. He also discussed a situation regarding national dues of a
particular member that he’s working to resolve. During Rick D’Louhy’s Secretary report, following motion by Dave Evans seconded by Bud Pike, minutes of the June 6th Board Meeting as printed in the June Gaslight were unanimously approved.
Webmaster Norm Echelberry advised that he will not be serving in that capacity next year. President Joe Beck then summarized
the positions we now know need to be filled for 2013: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Webmaster. Joe said while some
members on occasions offer to help, no one is coming forward to express willingness to serve in any of our club’s leadership positions, and he cautioned that the future of our club after Jan. 1, 2013 will be in jeopardy unless these positions can be filled. At this
point, Emily Kroeger, who has previously served as club Treasurer, indicated that she is potentially willing to help next year but
cautioned that her schedule doesn’t permit her to attend many of our meetings. Scott Kroeger advised that in another club, officers get their national dues paid by the local club. Joe Beck indicated that this concept will be considered by our club as an incentive to get people to serve. Joe Beck will be contacting club members in September to determine who may be interested in serving. Bud Pike and Flo Strauss had no Directors reports.
Our November event was then discussed. Joe Beck advised that he and Joan will not be able to be at our parade and show this
year but they’ll do as much as they can to help before the event. Joe then asked Dave Evans and Mary Ann Echelberry if they’ll
secure necessary permits from the City of Ormond Beach. Dave and Mary Ann agreed to handle this. Regarding a theme car for
our November event, a terrific car was discussed and the owner will be contacted by Joe Beck to see if the car will be available.
It was mentioned that the Creative Arts Café will be closed during our July 19th and Sept. 20th general meetings but the room
where we gather will be opened for us those evenings. Bud and Andrea Pike will bring coffee those nights.
There will be no board meeting or regular meeting or Gaslight in August. It was confirmed that the next board meeting will be
Sept. 5th at the home of Flo & Harley Strauss in Edgewater. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. Rick D’Louhy, Secretary

IN MEMORIAM
James “Ron” Sautter, 70, passed away June 10th. He was President of the Volusia Region

from California. Ron worked and retired as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. He enjoyed flying, boating, fishing, and his antique cars. He and Dawn had no children but truly loved their

South East Volusia Humane Society.
