We are actively building bridges for students to overcome barriers to education. The American Electric Power Foundation will assist us to surmount barriers to entering college. Whetstone’s success with this program depends on our feeder schools continuing to provide strong education environments. Great FACT! At a rate of $382.00 per credit hour (which is OSU’s tuition rate this school year), Whetstone’s 344 college credits for this school year are worth $131,408! At a rate of $382.00 (which is OSU’s credit hour rate this school year) a credit hour, Whetstone’s 344 college credits earned for 2014-2015 are worth $131,408! For Your Information! College Opportunity Changes for the 2015-2016 School Year! *This does NOT apply to AEP Credit Counts! The state of Ohio has made changes to the programs that offer college credits to high school students beginning for the 2015– 2016 school year. These programs were previously known as PSEO and Dual Enrollment programs. As with most policy changes with the state, we must take a wait and see approach. Guidelines are being finalized and we will update students and parents as soon as we can. Some requirements that are likely include: 1. Attendance to a required meeting that CCS will offer in February and March. 2. Completion of form from the state of Ohio. 3. Application completion and acceptance to the college where the courses will be taken. Thank you for your patience. We will give updates as soon as we have them. *This does NOT apply to AEP Credit Counts! AP courses help prepare students for college. They can help them earn many college credits! During the 2013-2014 school year, Whetstone students received a college credit qualifying score for 72 classes! At OSU’s credit hour rate the 216 college credits are valued at $82,512!
