Weather: All of our seasons are very clearly defined.
Temperature and precipitation are measured in metric.
Spring (March 20th to June 20th) is always an exciting time
in Morden, with the migratory birds flying back to nest, and
the promise of warmer weather and longer days. Summer
(June 21st to Sept 21st) is usually warm and sunny, even hot
at times. Fall (Sept 22nd to Dec 20th) is cooler and more
comfortable. The autumn leaves provide a truly natural
spectacle. Winter (Dec 21st to Mar 19th) in Manitoba means
bright and sunny skies and crisp, fresh air. During the winter
months the temperature is usually below 0° Celsius, day and
night and can drop below -25°.
Currency Exchange: The currency system is based on
Canadian dollars and cents. U.S. currency can be exchanged
at any bank or credit union. Most businesses accept U.S.
currency at the current exchange rate.
Liquor Laws: The minimum age for consumption of alcohol
in Manitoba is 18 years. It is illegal to drink alcohol in pubic
places such as streets or parks. Alcohol, beer and wine are
sold in government liquor stores.
Sales Tax: The Federal Government charges a 5% Goods
and Services Tax (GST) on all sales except for most food
items and medications. The Provincial Government of
Manitoba charges a 8% Provincial Sales Tax (PST) on the
purchase price of most items.
Time Zone: Manitoba Canada is
in the Central Time Zone and
observes Daylight Saving Time,
which begins on the second
Sunday in March and ends
on the first Sunday in
November.
